Nobody ever feels like they "belong" because they are never built to belong. And if this whole Goldberg/Kofi thing comes to pass, they're basically repeating history... just without so many racial overtures, but a more egrigious error: once again confirming to your own audience that your current crop of "superstars" are not nearly as good as any fossil you dig up from yesteryear. I mean, can you imagine what kind of rub it would be (provided Bill can still go) if Kofi knocks him off and he keeps being the man that "does the impossible"? From all those Royal Rumble saves to constantly beating guys in championship matches he's "not supposed to"... that's how you build stock in the future. Instead, what is most likely to happen they are phoning in: short-term gains to be had from nostalgia and fucking Kingston back to midcard hell for no good goddamn reason, and they will still scratch their heads as to why viewers are vacating and talent wants to go elsewhere. |

I have a feeling if the cancelled SD house show leads to more than just Big Doggo on RAW we'll end up with random tag team and 6-man tag matches between RAW/SD stars.

Why do people complain about the roster split and then also complain when SD guys show up on Raw and Raw guys show up on SD?
|
Quote:
I get that it's a continuity or credibility issue for some. Why have a shake up if it doesn't matter? Why pretend the rosters are separate if they aren't treated as such? I get it. But it does seem like complaining for the sake of complaining. Having people show up wherever opens the door for more storylines and makes it way easier to keep things fresh. I don't see a legit downside from the viewer perspective. |
Was Romans unfinished business on Raw Drew? He seemed quite complacent to just show up and get that match, nothing else.
Did he go after Shane or did Shane go after him? I thought his business was Shane. |
Quote:
Like, you might not like having a brand split but if they’re going to have one they should enforce it fully. At this point they’re a tiny bit pregnant. They’ve just spent 3 weeks deciding where everybody is going, with some people going backwards and forwards because they seemingly can’t plan more than a week ahead. And now, none of the last 3 weeks really matter because you can just pick up a wildcard and appear on the other brand anyway. They did an awful job explaining the limitations and restrictions on how the wildcard works with Vince saying one thing and the commentators saying another - probably because they haven’t quite worked out how it’s going to last. And they disregarded their own rules on Night 1. Will they still build up Survivor Series as “the only night of the year where competitors from Raw and SmackDown face off against each other”? I wouldn’t be surprised. |

But if you’re gonna do a roster split, commit to it. It’s WWE being scatterbrained. |
Basically, there’s no contradiction in saying “I don’t like that thing they’re doing and also, the execution of the thing is terrible.”

Fightful reporting Jen Pepperman, one of the WWE directors, has heat backstage via bringing her Daytime Emmy she won for directing a soap opera to RAW with her the next day.
It is noted WWE has never won an Emmy directly so this was viewed as an attack on WWE by some in WWE management but was really an employee celebrating a win in her field. Pepperman is said to be well-liked by many wrestlers. |
I did not watch a minute of RAW this week. I read the results and some dirtsheets. Genuinely turned off by the aftermath of the Superstar shakeup and it meaning jackshit. Also the amount of toxicity in this company is one of the primary reasons for me to do so. I’ll attempt to keep up with Smackdown and NXT for now.
|
To be fair Dave if you are going to watch SD and NXT then the toxicity of the company has nothing to do with your decision. If it was about the toxicity you wouldn't watch any of their programming.

I feel like I am every other fan who dislikes the current product but keeps on watching the product out of habit. There are moments that make it worthwhile but the amount of time and dedication they ask from a fan is ludicrous compared to what we get in return. It's like you know you're in a bad relationship but don't want to quit because it is comforting.

Never understand how people act like WWE sucking is a revelation. They use terms like 'the current product' as though the product hasn't been some form of this since 2001.

I remember when I was doing a watch-through of 2002 right after the roster split, same time period Cool King was doing except I didn't do posts about it.
And maaaaaaaaaaaan did Raw ever suck. The amazing thing though is I remember loving it at the time. Just goes to show that being 13 made me more likely to simply accept what I get and not think too hard about it. 2002 SmackDown definitely held up though. Usually one or two great matches a week and some fun characters. Only thing that really grinds my gears about those shows is the grating piped in cheers and boos that they were still using right up until SmackDown went live. |

WWE was really lucky they signed their mega tv deal last year since the Observer reported the general feeling within the tv industry is wrestling is now a "cold" market for television. All due to WWE's rapid decline and woes this year.
That makes it harder for AEW to get a great deal for their planned weekly tv show and Impact's chances on finding a better network since they desperately want to get out of Pursuit in a few months. |
I was thinking about that yesterday. What if Vince is sabotaging his product so AEW will end up getting a shitty T.V deal

Instead this has been something that's been self-inflicted for years and only now has gotten to the point where its becoming impossible to ignore or sweep away. WWE's biggest blunders were not learning their lessons from the booking mistakes with the Cena era and not grooming Cena's kids market to be their future core viewers. In the span of a few months, WWE went from being one of the hottest properties in television to now being closer to "ice cold" status. If they were a regular tv style show, they would have been canceled by now and the only reason it hasn't happened is due to their ability to provide weekly content without needing seasonal breaks. |

Turner Broadcasting supposedly got cold feet once they found out All In was produced by ROH and not by The Elite.
Its why Double or Nothing is speculated to be a "proof of concept" event for AEW to convince tv networks they can produce a quality show on their own. |

Example context to my statement: 1) constantly trying to bury Daniel Bryan because his popularity was fucking up their plans until they couldn't sweep it under the rug anymore, then pretending that is what they meant to do the entire time until the temporary retirement. 2) the time I was swerved into believing that WWE was trying to bank on Batista being hot shit off the back of the first Guardians, but in reality, they thought the movie was going to flop, and didn't factor cross promotion at all. 3) having potential, premade stars graduate from their Florida factory, just to make them nobodies in short order. 4) killing an angle between Sasha and Bayley that saw Bayley not get suckered. It was supposed to be a heel turn but got a damn cathartic pop and should have been an avenue to make her a force to be reckoned with. Instead, that gets scrubbed in like three weeks to force them into a tag team to become the inaugural women's champs that they really didn't need to do. 5) NXT makes a big deal out of x tag team. Tag team gets called up to main roster. Tag team gets featured for like a month. Tag team fucks off to oblivion. See: American Alpha, Authors of Pain, The Ascension, The Revival, Heavy Machinery.... 6) Remember when they thought Jinder Mahal would be a big deal halfway around the world just because he was brown? They have been doing shitty shows since before Cody Rhodes tweeted "hold my beer". There is no way fucking over AEW is any priority. More like a "bright side" side effect of being a colossal shitty show... well, shitshow. |

This deserves a thread of its own. Someone made a compilation of Lars’ bigoted views from the past.

Jesus Christ, that BPS sounds ridiculous.

“We have the unique advantage of listening to our audience”
Yes you do. You should try doing that sometime. Also, that segregation of the adult fan base shows the disconnect between them and the fans. Literally all adult fans want both of those things. |
What he meant to say was they have 2 fans, total. And that's what each one likes respectively.
|
Reddit post on LARS saying lots of racist shit and making fun of most of his current co-workers
https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCirc...d_screenshots/ |
Probably would have been in his best interest to not post all those things while pursuing a career as a pro rassler...
|
Those posts are really bad, especially the ones where he belittles people for having anxiety despite suffering through it himself. And he blocks anyone who brings up these posts.
It’s not even that he said one or two awful things. These are posts spanning half a decade showing patterns of racism, homophobia, and a complete lack of regard for the mentally ill. And all of these posts were when he was in his 20s and at an age where he clearly should’ve known better. Is it possible for people to change? Yes. But his refusal to own up to any of his mistakes tells me that he hasn’t. |
When he called Kofi and R-Truth members of the Black Panthers...
...yeah, not winning any locker room pals probably judging from Big E's tweet. |
Slik, I posted that earlier today.

I quoted your posts in the new thread. I don't know how I feel about Lars. I've known about this for a while but it is finally getting some attention. I don't want him to lose his job but at the same time show some remorse for his bigoted views.

Sean Mooney has Todd Pettingel on his podcast this week. Lol awesome guest.

Apparently WWE laid down the hammer on the two NXT guys who were running a troubled Twitch channel.
Besides known issues with their streams having content that likely would piss off or be borderline unacceptable to WWE, they also ran an infamous donation system that encouraged people to pay to hear insults from wrestlers which led to the Rhea Ripley homophobic slur incident to happen. The NXT guy who ran the channel pretty much implied its all WWE's fault and instead of making changes to save their channel, he decided to call it quits instead. |

Dude isn't wrong. If his job is covering current events in wrestling, it's good to have a healthy knowledge of wrestling history, but knowing a guy like Gino Hernandez isn't necessary.
