- Regarding the October 3rd TNA live event in Salem, Virginia, Trevor Lee turned down that show to work a CWF indie event in Gibsonville, North Carolina. This is where Lee got his start and apparently the reason he turned down the TNA show was because he figured he would have more fun at CWF. The Salem event featured Kurt Angle's return to the ring and Earl Hebner's TNA Hall of Fame induction.

Mark Henry recently spoke to Philly.com about his near 20 years with the WWE and gave an indication that his retirement in coming up, and plans to call it a career shortly after next year’s WrestleMania:

I don’t know how I let Vince convince me into signing another contract back in 2013. He did a bit of magic. He’s got that magic where you just go in the office and he’ll talk you into it. I won’t be signing any more contracts. I’m an elder statesman. This is a young guy business and I’m 100 percent for it. I love the marketing process. I love the international marketing. I love the talent development, but those are all things I’ll work with the company on to make sure that our business continues to thrive, but there’s a bunch of other stuff that I plan on doing.

We received 50 responses to the CMLL Anniversary show on iPPV (which, scary enough, is more than TNA’s biggest show of the year on regular PPV), but we only got eight responses to this (all thumbs up), even with a feud built off American TV as the main event. Granted, iPPV is a tougher sell, but that really shows how much damage was done by the first show among the most hardcore fan base.

AAA still struggling with ippv issues that plagued TripleMania and a big reason why they cut back on the amount of ppvs the US will get.

Some other sheet news includes:
  • According to Triple H from the recent NXT conference call, WWE is looking at purchasing or making deals to get more wrestling libraries added to the current bunch on the WWE Network. Mostly looking at Japan and Mexico for the next batch of libraries.
  • NJPW announced Kevin Kelly and Matt Striker will be the English announcers for the upcoming King of Pro Wrestling show. The idea is to see if they can boost the number of NJPWWorld subs with this show while ROH has no ties for this show and just let Kelly do this on his own free time.
  • Undertaker hinted to the WWE that he is open to working more dates than usual leading up to Mania 32. Main reason is due to him being a lot healthier than in recent years. Will be on the Mexico tour but currently expected to skip the European tour.
  • Season 2 of Lucha Underground is currently expected to start taping on November 14th and air on January 2016.

I admire how Hunter has won over the internet wrestling community. Personally, I would like to see him take over a larger entity, like Smackdown.

Rammsteinmad 10-09-2015 05:10 AM

How long will this divas revolution last? The divas on NXT have been great, but headlining PPV's whilst this whole revolution thing goes on, it just seems so forced.

XL 10-09-2015 07:45 AM

I wouldn't say it seems forced. If anything it shows how badly they've handled the Divas Revolution. You've got the crowd chanting "Womens Wrestling" and "This Is Wrestling" for a very good match, whilst we're still doing the 3-on-3 "I started the revolution"/"no, I started the revolution" annoyance on the main show.

That match at Takeover didn't feel forced at all, given the history and what it meant to each of the girls, and of course the fact that the NXT Championship wasn't on the line.

Mercenary 10-09-2015 08:57 AM

At this rate I would say the NXT womens championship is better then the Mens.

Sixx 10-09-2015 09:14 AM

Is the NXT Divas championship belt also a butterfly?

Innovator 10-09-2015 09:22 AM

Rammsteinmad 10-09-2015 10:12 AM

lol.

I wish it didn't have the "WWE" on it, though. Would just further distinguish NXT as another entity. Just nitpicking.

I said once that Hunter, in spite of being "mediocre" (read: not nearly as good as WWE makes him out to be) seems like he'd be a decent coach. Kinda like a player who spent a majority of his collegic and pro football career as a backup or 3rd string QB and goes on to become a very successful coach. I just didn't think he would get a team to coach, so to speak, until the full entity of WWE was up for grabs. Being able to handle the big picture down at Full Sail shows how knowledgeable he is.

People somehow mistake "having an sharp and cunning grasp on the business inside and out" and "being the best to ever grace a ring" as being the same thing; that you can't say somebody is one without being the other. I disagree, and feel Hunter is the former, not the latter.

Also, I would think that his "winning over the IWC" might have a bit to do with him no longer domineering 40+ minutes of a two hour show every week. Took a long time for that scar to heal. If he insinuated himself in front of the camera every week on NXT, in spite of handling the product well, there would be a bit of "HHH being HHH" backlash.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, WWE informed a couple of Performance Center based talents of their release earlier today.

Devin Taylor, who has been a staple of NXT since its days as a Hulu-exclusive show, is the name that most will recognize. Initially criticized for her wooden delivery, Taylor was showing some signs of progress...especially as a foil for Dana Brooke. She wrestled occasionally on house shows, as well, but looks to have been moved out of a crowded announcer scene with the rise of Kyle Edwards and Dasha Fuentes.

The other name mentioned in the report is Cal Bishop. The wrestler had been with WWE for a couple of years, and worked as tag team enhancement talent on a couple of episodes of NXT.

Both were present at last night's NXT taping, although its not clear that either were used and unlikely that they'd be featured in any prominent way.

Best wishes to both Taylor and Bishop on whatever comes next, and we'll have any updates on their situations or releases in general for you here at Cage
Dana Brooke won the War of the Head Tapping in the end. Shame Taylor never had her chance to snap and become a badass submission machine :shifty:
