Similar to when EA added analog control to its Fight Night series and 2k added it for the NBA 2k series, Sony is going to add analog control for pitching and hitting in their upcoming MLB 11 The Show.

Quote:

ESPN's Jon Robinson, getting the first preview of Sony's genre-leading baseball franchise, says the analog-based pitching will transition to a gesture-based system that's somewhat similar to the new batting controls. Both involve pulling down on the right analog stick - which starts a batter's step or initiates a pitcher's windup. The player then drives the stick to the top. In pitching, the direction of the final thrust will affect the pitch's placement in or out of the strike zone, and the force you put behind it will impact its velocity.
Unlike EA, Sony is also keeping the traditional controls as an option and not having to wait for a patch or DLC for button controls. Analog controls however will be set as the default control setup for the game.

Also announced was 3D-capability for the game, Move-enabled control setup, and 2-vs-2 or 2-vs-CPU modes.

In other news, Nintendo now offering Kirby Epic Yarn patches that were first seen at E3 2010 as rewards for Club Nintendo. 350 coins per pack of patches.

G 12-15-2010 08:06 PM

Speaking of Club Nintendo, I got 900 coins I need to burn. Apparently they aren't good anymore at the start of the 3rd Club Nintendo year after you acquire them. So I have a bunch that will disappear next June/July.

Extreme Angle 12-16-2010 06:02 AM

That Baseball game looks pretty

I'm so happy for you

OssMan 12-16-2010 08:43 AM

Speaking of Club Nintendo, the "reward" I got at the end of the year was the dumbest piece of shit calendar that I will never use

On 360 Faceplates:

Quote:

It "turned out nobody bought it," says Microsoft marketing director Albert Penello in an interview with OXM.

"We don't ever create an accessory with the intent of having it fail. The idea wasn't bad ... people used to put faceplates on their cell phones. Rewind five years, faceplates were what everybody wanted to do." Without sales, naturally they "killed that one pretty quickly," Penello continues.
Pretty sure there will be 3rd party support for a while. But yeah... it was kinda dumb. I personally never had any interest. More elaborately designed Xboxes like those special game editions are welcome, though. Still want that Reach version. And that RE red one was hot.

G 12-16-2010 12:28 PM

Trust me, you get sick of that red really quick.

EA plan to solve the issue of how can PS3 users know the story without playing Mass Effect 1 by introducing an interactive comic with Mass Effect 2 for the PS3. The comic begins after the intro video to Mass Effect 2 for the PS3.

The comic will summarize the main story and also allow people to interact with the 6 main choices from the 1st game. From those results, Mass Effect 2 story will then customize itself based on the choices just like it did on Xbox 360 and PC.

The whole story from the comic can be sped through in a couple of minutes any time someone wants to start a brand new Mass Effect 2 game.

There is a rumor of the comic eventually arriving for the Xbox 360 and PC at a later date through the Cerbrus Network.

In delayed news, Max Payne pushed out of Rockstar/Take-Two's 2011-2012 release list but Take-Two did confirm the game is still being worked on and new info will arrive in a few months.

Dexus Ex Revolution now pushed back from a March 2011 release date to a TBA 2011 release date. Square-Enix did confirm the game will be available some time in the 2011 fiscal year (April 2011 - April 2012).

Can't wait to play ME2 again. Word is that they are using the ME3 engine.

Kalyx triaD 12-16-2010 11:36 PM

Oh look at that I can skip ME1 after all.

Funky Fly 12-17-2010 02:14 AM

I wouldn't. ME is a great game.

Yeah, they're calling it the "true" version.

Hate that "Hey, you loyal customers who bought it a year ago. You're playing it wrong!".

Might wait to purchase the GOTY ME3 and just play ME3 until then.

Yeah, you'll just be missing out on a buttload of choices that still affect the game. lolol

Except you can make those choices in the comic.

Still, ME1 is a fine game and almost totally different from ME2.

Xero 12-17-2010 07:25 AM

From Engadget:

In most circumstances, we'd argue a self-illuminating controller crisscrossed by bright bands of orange is a couple of notches over the top, but when it's Tron you're talking about, it all makes sense. This latest peripheral for the 360 is up for pre-order now at $39.99 and comes prepackaged with the smugness of knowing that each one sold will be part of a very limited 250-unit production run. It's officially licensed by Microsoft and arriving at snowy doorsteps some time later this month. A less exclusive blue brother should be joining it soon as well, in case the current hue's not quite to your liking.

The latest news is that the back of my phone now looks like a NES-pad.

Kalyx triaD 12-17-2010 03:03 PM

Amazing how much gameplay we got from two buttons and 8 directions.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-17-2010 03:36 PM

EA have released a 3D remake of UMK3. It's pretty faithful (awful)

Kalyx triaD 12-17-2010 03:39 PM

Wait... what?

It was silky smooth on my iPhone 4 for the record and the speed and combos are all there.

Also, Inifinty Blade is amazing. Built on the Unreal Engine, it's a sword fighting game originally built for Kinnect, but it works so well on the screen and it is drop dead gorgeous. Could easily be a 360 game.

There are more than six choices in Mass Effect. He'll miss out on everything that made Mass Effect 2 so enjoyable. Seeing Conrad Verner again, receiving emails from people, he'll miss out on all of that. You lose out on so much immersion by just doing six choices and that's all.

G 12-17-2010 04:01 PM

Honestly, I don't remember what the fuck I did and what happened in ME1. He will be fine going straight to 2.

Funky Fly 12-17-2010 04:21 PM

I remember it all, as I've completed 4 playthroughs. And I STILL have 2 achievements left. Fucking hybrid classes.

This. Except i got all the achievements.

Edit: Also, its not 'fine' to just go to the next game. As i stated before, the attachments you get to your characters mean something. Its just like any other RPG in that sense. Reading about the back story of a character isnt gonna put a smile on your face when you see them in ME2.

Kalyx triaD 12-18-2010 04:39 PM

Loved the second 'season finale'. Epic.

Kalyx triaD 12-18-2010 04:41 PM

That may be my favorite Final Fantasy actually. I got stuck somewhere in the third season and I could not pass it. So I restarted the whole game and I was happy to do so.

G 12-18-2010 04:42 PM

i'm happy you were happy to do so
