Yeah, the Forest of Illusion cheesed me off. There's something similar to that in New Super Mario Bros. Wii U for which I did not have the patience.

Been switching back and forth between Destiny 2 and Outriders. More Destiny this week because Iron Banana
|
I miss Destiny so much. I've maintained that it has the most satisfying gunplay of any shooter ever, and I'm ready to die on that hill.
|
Quote:
A most excellent hill to die on man. 100% the best gunplay hands down. That is what solely makes me go back once every few months. If they would just make joining a clan easier without the need to go to a website.... |
finished disco. really superb. i will absolutely play it again but not immediately. wanna let it breathe before i come back to it.
writing is smart and pushing into new territory for gaming. it can be wildly funny and really delivers on excellent call backs at unexpected times to really catch you unexpectedly for great comedic effect. game is insane. in the best way. not afraid to get weird and relishes doing it. leveling system is brilliant. plot is smart and really rewards you for diving deep into the mythos. a true rpg. several plot strands i wasnt able to complete because my build didnt have a clear path for resolution (though i believe with enough digging any build could find a way...if you can find the less obvious solutions.) many things im looking forward to see solved in other ways. excellent expirience. a game that felt tailored made for my taste, interests and humor. its more than a game. its an expirience. |
I've had that game for a while but was a little overwhelmed by the intro. I'll give it another try
|
its not for everyone. very niche
|
Prob gonna have to give that a go then after I finish Battlechasers Night War. Cant believe I missed this when it originally came out. Very enjoyable for one of these modern attempts at an old school turn based jrpg. Lots of qol upgrades here that I wish were in games back then. Also like how they made status effects very important; never really bother with them in most games and try to just mdk stuff but I found myself really strategizing and synergizing the effects in this game, especially in tougher encounters.
|
Finished off Outriders. Story was good. But, fell flat at the end. Regardless, had a blast playing it.
Going to knock down my the world tier so I can knock off my class accolades and snatch up some of the trickier trophies. Then I'll kick it back up, put on my regular skills, then venture into the expeditions. Like how they do those. |
Trying to get through Shadow Warrior 2 which has been sitting on my steam to play list for a long time, but it's such ass and a chore to play. The whole leveling/buying skills and "base" system are annoying and dumb. Just let me kill demons damn it.
Oddly enough I liked the first Shadow Warrior "remake". Nothing comes close to Shadow Warrior 97 though, one of the best FPS games ever made. |
Trails in the Sky the 3rd
|
Among us but it's really hard finding a good group.
|
I bought a PS4
I bought God of War Ghost of Tushima Resident Evil 2 Need for Speed Heat Control Doom Doom Eternal Nioh Nioh 2 Not sure which i'll play first. Probably Ghost of Tsushima |
All great games.
|
Platinum'd Outriders. Time to knock off a few expeditions and snag some good loot.
Probably dip into the archive and play something random or one of the freebies I have in my digital library for my next game. |
Since I can't use my Xbox right now, and my laptop can't run anything but fire pro, I decided to give Call of Duty mobile a try.
It's surprisingly fun. The touch controls work better than I ever would have suspected. They even brought a lot of the best maps from throughout the series history. I was only planning on playing this until I could use a controller again on console, but I might keep this one. |
Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition is free on the PS Store.
|
I think i'm about to pick up Celeste for 5.99. I hate digital shit, but Horizon Zero Dawn and Celeste for a total of 5.99 seems like a no brainer.
|
Celeste is worth $50 so yeah
|
I loved Horizon: Zero Dawn. Wish Sony would drop some more info on Forbidden West. Screenshots, gameplay footage, a release date.
|
Kicking off my Platinum Summer by jumping back into The Outer Worlds. Bought the season pass for 2 DLCs, I'll start those first. Then I'll play on Supernova and see if the 20 minute trick will work. Finally a "stupid" full 2nd playthrough to mop up some missed decision trophies.
|
Resident Evil 8.
2nd playthrough. Game is fucking fun |
Zelda: Breath of the Wild and True Blood: Eric and Sookie x Bill Compton
|
I dunno dude, the Stackhouse Battle pass seems like a ripoff.

Fignuts mobile adventures continues with the DS remake of final fantasy 3. It's been over a decade since played the original NES version. Will be cool to play through it again with slightly more story and character. Also seeing all the classic monsters and bosses in 3d should be fun.
|
oh man ff3 was great. just looked at shots of the mobile update and its pretty damn cool!
|
Damn, forgot how good the overworld theme is in ff3.
I was expecting this to be dumbed down and easier than the NES version but it's already getting really tough, just a few dungeons in. |
really dont like 3. 5 is a much better 3.
|
2 is also bad. FF didnt find its footing till 4
|
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus
Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection Almost finished with Wolfenstein 2 and the game has been pretty good so far. A few sections are a bit too trial & error heavy for my liking and learned the hard way about needing to have good timing with doing manual saves. Street Fighter 30th Anniversary arrived in the mail yesterday and also quickly learned the hard way that the Switch's Joy Cons are not ideal to play those classic games. Not sure if its due to drift in the left controller or its just been a very long time since I last played those classics since I was horrible at trying to pull off special moves correctly. |

That said, I think there's a lot to like about 3 outside of being forced to occasionally use mini and that awful cunt whore of a final dungeon. |
i fucking LOVE 5. great jkb system. 6 has a better story inarguably but that job system...fuck. so good. its the cloning of it that makes Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler such amazing games.
|
6 is where they started crafting more intricate stories, but it's basically playschool level difficulty. Very big step down from 5, where every boss fight had a trick you had to figure out using the job system.
|
I'll say one thing for 2. It has one of the most underappreciated ost's of the whole series.
|
until 12 i dont think there was a mediocre OST let alone a bad one
|
Spelunky 2
|
3 is a fucking horror show. Ahead of its time in many way but the hardware simply couldn't handle it, trying to change your character's job was a nightmare, just bogged down in technical issues. I've said this before but I died once at the end of the final dungeon where nothing's explained to you, and I did the 2+ hour slog again and if I had died again I never would have picked up the game again. I swear I came so close to dying so many times. Fuck that game, I enjoyed it though
I made a list somewhere where I reexamined all the FF games to determine how many "true" FFs there are, and decided that 3 and 5 should not be main entries in the series, they should be called Final Fantasy Job System and Final Fantasy Job System 2, or some more marketable name if square enix ever wants to repackage and sell them. I guess Tactics could be number 3. |
COMPLETE RESTRUCTURING OF FINAL FANTASY SERIES:
Final Fantasy = Final Fantasy 1 Final Fantasy 2 = Final Fantasy 2 Final Fantasy 3 = Final Fantasy Job System Final Fantasy 4 = Final Fantasy 3 Final Fantasy 5 = Final Fantasy Job System 2 Final Fantasy 6 = Final Fantasy 4 Final Fantasy 7 = Final Fantasy 5 Final Fantasy 7 Remake = Final Fantasy 5 Remake Part 1 SaGa Frontier: Final Fantasy “5” Final Fantasy 8 = College Dreams: Monsterzz Falling From Da Moon Final Fantasy 9 = Final Fantasy Gaiden Final Fantasy 10 = EA Sports Blitz Ball Final Fantasy Tactics = Final Fantasy Job System 3 Final Fantasy 11 = Final Fantasy Online Final Fantasy 12 = Final Fantasy 6 Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy 13 series is wiped from existence Final Fantasy 14 = Final Fantasy Online 2 Final Fantasy 15 = Kpop Simulator THERE ARE ONLY 6 FINAL FANTASIES |
I don't know how 9 isn't a Final Fantasy to you.
|
He's right that 9 feels more like a Gaiden type spin off. A sort of tribute to the old school NES games.
I'm more interested to hear how 12 is more qualified than 8 and 10. |
Way easier to switch jobs in the remake of 3. No more capacity points. There is a penalty where your stats are nerfed until you complete a certain amount of battles.
|
i love 12s combat and leveling and hate everything else about it. I FUCKING LOVE ITS COMBAT AND LEVELING THO
|
I have about 6 hours into Horizon Zero Dawn and i love it. The only issue i have is the tagging system. Pressing right stick, scanning to my ( moving ) target, and pressing R2. Its a bit much. I'll get used to it. I wish the tagging system was as easy as God of War.
The NPC's have lifeless faces which crack me up. But thats about all i have so far and thats a bit nitpicky. I get lost just fucking around with my new weapons and killing things. I forget about the main storyline i'm working on. Thats a sign of a great game for sure. I know the game is a few years old, but this is an amazing game to be given free and complete edition for that matter. |
Resident eVil 8 : About 2.8 hours in so far. Great game, lots of fun. A little too much action and the puzzles are weak so far, hope that changes once I am out of the castle.
|
Quote:
Otherwise I loved it. Gorgeous game, with a really fun world to explore. |
Giving biomutant a shot. I can see why its reviews arent stellar but a lot of the issues ppl seem to take dont really bother me. Its a giant open world with a unique setting and the moment to moment gameplay is fun enough. I like it so far.
|
Quote:
Sorry, but it's quite the opposite. I'm on my 3rd play through and the puzzles are not hard at all. The action definitely ramps up as you are introduced to new types of mobs post-castle Demitriscu. |
Quote:
Action ramps up, is exactly why I said too much action. |
He means the puzzles don't get any better after the castle.

I'm loving Horizon Zero Dawn. I'm stunned it was outright free. You didnt even need a PS PLus sub. They gave the complete edition free. I'm having a blast. I have some knitpicks but nothing major.
|
playing greedall. heavily flawed but not awful

i have finally finished LIVE A LIVE after i stopped playing it for like 7 years. thought my data was gone at one point. very cool innovation game, good story telling and music and scenarios, the last part was a real fucking chore though. the only posts about Live A Live on this forum are some guy putting it in his best obscure snes games and this Indifferent Clox post from a c-fed:

13.5 hours into Re8 and just coming to the last of the four lords. Really like what capcom did with each lord having a different style of their section to play through.
The first part, castle, is still the best. Dont know what the last parts are going to be, but so far, I'm thinking it should've been the last. |
Heisenberg's factory is on par with Castle Demitrescu IMO.
Just beat it on Village of Shadows difficulty last weekend. Shit gets real after the factory. Enjoy it unfolding man. |

Finished it in one sitting tonight, great game and an improvement over RE7. I didnt replay 7, but I see myself replaying eight. Could have used some more exploration and better puzzles, but still a great game.
Only thing I didnt like was the ending which I felt was terrible SPOILER: show |
SPOILER: show |
also Mercenaries mode is fun AF and challenges are a good reason to replay. Replay value is the highest of any RE game I've played yet. On my 4th (casual) to do some of the timed challenges.
|
Completed Ghost of Tsushima.
|
Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Wrath of the Druids
|
Just started playing Super Animal Royale and its ok so far. I like how quick you can get into rounds and its pretty easy to pick up how to play. The game play can be a little frustrating sometimes though. I feel like I get caught up on corners a bit too much, but that might just be because of me.
|
Finished biomutant. It's not incredible, but it's fun and overall a good game. Amazing such a small team made it tbh. Feel like the reviews didn't quite do it justice.
Not sure if I'm going to start the Valhalla DLC now or play Maneater. |
Maneater is a blast. Short, but fun as fook. There is a point where it was just too easy.... or I just used a good set, dunno. Last fight incredibly underwhelming.
|
I've been watching one of my sons play it. Seems fun. I don't honestly mind when open world games end up easy after you put in work. I'm there for the experience and the exploration and all that. Hell as thorough as I am with games of this ilk it kinda throws me off when it doesn't become too easy at some point.
|
Recently jumped back into Cyberpunk. Can't say just how good it is on the "current gen" consoles. Done more than I've ever done in the game and enjoying the shit out of nearly being max level.
|
Actually speaking of that, Biomutant is the first game in awhile that I felt was too easy to the point that it did bug me. They've since added in a new difficulty to address that, but I was basically done by the time they released the patch.
The issue with that game was the loot system not being quite properly tuned. You could get very high level items when you're like level 5 just because RNG decided thats what you got. Mind you you wouldn't be able to equip them. The issue comes from the addons for crafting and modding weapons as they have no requirements and then the ultimate weapons that are spawned in specific locations and have none either. When I was around level 10ish I happened across the ultimate rifle, which by itself is awesome, but not insane or game changing or anything because I still preferred my pistol....until I added some high power legendary mods i got from RNGesus and that rifle ended any chance at the game ever being challenging. I never changed weapons from that rifle after that. At level 10 I had a gun that melts level 50 bosses in 2-3 seconds at most. |

I'll wait for the next generation version. Hell by that time maybe I'll actually be able to find a series x.
|
Quote:
I wish a clip I would make would do it justice, but it won't. Seriously, at least on Series X, it is butter smooth and very "pretty". It is damn near exactly like the "tech demo" they showed that everyone shits on. It's a damn fun game and its fine (for now) and I'm not gonna pretend otherwise. |
Doom Eternal. Surprisingly more hard of a game than Doom 2016.
|
I signed up for a free trial for PS NOW. I wanted to grab a few games i wouldnt normally purchase.
I played ADR1FT. It's good. Imagine being Sandra Bullock in the movie Gravity. You have to survive in space. Not the most action paced game, but it's a bit cathartic. Great views of the earth while you try to survive. It's kind of a play but not a must. I liked it. It's short. 5 hours or so. |

I didn't like Resident Evil 2 (remake) at first but it started growing on me.
|
Replaying Village on hardcore setting now. Noticeably harder, but not unfair (which I assume the highest setting is). Still turned on by the vampire daughters. It's weird, how did they make these "monsters" so freaking attractive and completely botched Claire in RE2 remake by turning her into a hobgoblin.
Scared @ how they are going to botch my dear Ashley in the RE4 remake. |
Village of Shadows def not unfair. You will need infinite ammo on 2 decent guns really, but that's it.
Most everything will take you to critical health in 1 hit. The ONLY thing that feels unfair is the Heisenberg fight. |

I finished my 1st playthough of Until Dawn. Great game! I was only able to get Sam, Chris and Emily out alive though.

That was a fun silly game. Check out Detroit: Become Human if you're into that style.

I'll still try to do as much as I can in VOS before turning to unlimited weapons and such... |
VOS without infinite ammo will be insane. Average lycans take ~10-20 rounds from the Dragoon (depending on your aim). Also, the Duke's stuff goes up in price each time you have to buy something.
If you are a headshot king, it's possible to get it done, but it will be a slog. Otherwise, you won't have enough ammo and despite the lei dropped on VOS, it still won't be enough to buy the stuff you need. VOS introduces new spawns as well. Armored lycans are introduced very early. Good luck! |

Baldur's Gate 3.
So good, and so glad they gave it to Larian to make instead of Obsidian. They've done a fantastic job, even in early access. Still a bit disappointed with having turn based combat instead of real time with pause but can't have everything. They nailed the Baldur's Gate feel while putting it into a more modern package. Love how the early game is really hard just like in the first game but you slowly become stronger and it becomes easier. |
Played through The Outer Worlds DLCs. Murder on Eridanos easily the better of the 2.
Haven't gotten the drive to start over again. |

Dipped back into Monster Hunter World on XBox.
Never did Alateron or Fatalis. Gonna do those. Been having fun just answering SOS calls and helping out less experienced hunters. I'll start a new character and play if anyone wants to join. Think that shits on game pass. |

Ghost expansion is rumored to be multiplayer only so it doesnt spark any interest for me but the base game was ace
|
Yeah Monster Hunter is leaving game pass soon. That said it's probably worth buying, as it's one of the best live service games out there, if you're into that type of game.
Not for me though.. When it comes to grindy loot based game, art design and aesthetic is really important to me. That weird pseudo medieval fantasy design that you see in a lot of jrpgs has never appealed to me, and monster hunter is very much in that group. |
I own it and owned it before Gamepass, so I'll def still play.
I just enjoy the challenge. Doesn't feel "grindy" to me, but I know it is for the endgame stuff. I have nearly 700 hours on my main. I tend to hop on with a Gunlance to help other hunters with hard fights. Good fun. |
I still havent touched Iceborne and it's been so long since I stopped playing vanilla that I definitely can't remember how to use my charge blade.
|
Charge blade + Clutch Claw = EZ mode. Seriously. You get an assignment that teaches you how to do it which basically results in infinite Zero Day Discharges (or wtf ever they are called).
The grind isn't as terrible either, since all the additions they made to the Elder Melder. Those hard-to-find gems can all be traded for useless other items that you may never use. Made getting Rathalos gems a fuckton easier, not to mention elder dragons. I'll boost/quest with anyone on Xbox who wants to play, lemme know. |
