I wonder if Stephanie's big announcement on RAW will be that she is adding herself to the Women's Main-Event as the Referee

Definitely I expect Steph to be the ref. She wants to attach herself to a historical moment just like she always does.

I could see that.

I could also see DBry retain via shenanigans because WWE will decide there is 'heat' in Kofi chasing for the belt.

And I could see Brock retain and then lose the belt to Big Doggo in Saudi Arabia too.

And I could see Corbin defeat Angle in a squash match to give him 'heat' and set him up as a big heel for Big Doggo Dog.

slik 04-01-2019 02:23 PM

But the fans will get to go home happy when HHH overcomes Batista.

WWE Responds!:
Quote:

“John Oliver Ignores Facts

John Oliver is clearly a clever and humorous entertainer, however the subject matter covered in his WWE segment is no laughing matter. Prior to airing, WWE responded to his producers refuting every point in his one-sided presentation. John Oliver simply ignored the facts.

The health and wellness of our performers is the single most important aspect of our business, and we have a comprehensive, longstanding Talent Wellness program.

We invite John Oliver to attend WrestleMania this Sunday to learn more about our company.”

WWE don’t need it, but with the recent strategy to boost ratings being “let’s call up the top four from NXT,” maybe there’s some appeal in working with #3 to bring in some fresh faces they have to protect (and god knows they need some protected stars). There are some WWE talent who could get a lot out of some New Japan appearances too (Cesaro and Harper come to mind). They could also do Jushin Liger vs. Rey Mysterio at some point.

No, no, no. Horrible idea all round. New Japan don't need it either and it would most likely damage their business and their expansion. The UK promotions who partnered with WWE, for example, have cooled off significantly since WWE have cherry picked all their top stars and are keeping them to themselves. What are the likes of British Strong Style even doing right now for example? Their buzz has completely fizzled out.

With HHH already having designs for NXT Japan you have to believe any partner promotion would just become a feeder, because that's what's happening in Europe. New Japan is way too big to sink to that level.

Anyone in WWE who would "get a lot out of New Japan" would be better off leaving WWE entirely because they are most likely spinning their wheels in the midcard.

Liger is also retiring in January and was actually booked to wrestle Rey last year before he got injured and then WWE snatched him away before they could reschedule.

I'm likely gonna wind up in a similar spot. Even for your 29 seats, prices are double or triple that which is odd because usually week of the event people are trying to dump them for whatever they can get.

Both times I ordered first day of presale using a code

I see tickets in my section still going for $300, which is crazy

Evil Vito 04-01-2019 05:47 PM

Yeah, I was on the fence on whether I even wanted to go. Truthfully I don't really WANT to go based on the build, but it's Mania so I kinda still want to.

My WM29 tickets were a Christmas gift so this is my first experience actually buying tickets to Mania. Didn't realize the secondary market was gonna be this pricy since my previous experiences were always the opposite.

Emperor Smeat 04-01-2019 07:53 PM

Seems HBO and John Oliver got the snowball effect they wanted to happen after last night's Last Week Tonight show.

Already had one NXT ring announcer expose how its not just wrestlers who get hit with independent contractor status so WWE can skirt around certain labor laws and a former wrestler expose how WWE's rehab programs are a lot less honest than the company claims.

Considering how anal the WWE is about their presentation, things like these bother me.

Michael Cole said that Rey Mysterio is a 2-time WWE Champion and first won it when he defeated Randy Orton and his "now his good buddy" Kurt Angle.

Rey Mysterio is a 1-time WWE Champion (and a 2-time World Heavyweight Champion) and his reign barely lasted the length of the Monday Night RAW episode. Using the "World Heavyweight Championship" and "WWE Championship" interchangeably is stupid.

MSG pretty much no longer cares what WWE thinks for wrestling events at the venue. If AAA wants AEW at their event, MSG isn't going to stop them nor care if WWE feels upset. AEW ownership also has the money to force WWE to back down from any legal threats like Sinclair did for ROH.

WWE doomed themselves when they picked money over historical ties when they started to only hold events at the Barclays Center in NYC.

WWE is going back to MSG though on TV live. This AAA deal was made before the WWE probably decided they didnt want to Lose MSG. My guess is the show theyre doing in Sept probably included a deal to go back to the way it was. WWE doesn't care about AAA plus there was probably little they could do anyway. But I dont think you'll see another US based promotion run MSG for a while

Emperor Smeat 04-03-2019 12:54 AM

Costs and not any influence or pressure from WWE would be the main reason if that situation were to happen.

Even WWE struggles to make good money from their MSG shows and outside of ROH and AEW, nobody else has the deep pockets to run one without a lot of help. AAA's pretty much taking a huge risk with their rumored MSG show since it has to be a huge success in order to kick start their rumored US expansion plans.

It is stupid only because of how inconsistent they are about it. They will go out of their way to say someone never won a specific title or how many times exactly, but then, turn around and count combined championships, including stuff like throwaway tag reigns.

Then again, they do it elsewhere. A person can't have wrestled for years all over the world and still be a rookie.

WWE was just as upset AAA was going to run a show there as they were with ROH since they wanted nobody to run shows there.

Only difference was WWE viewed ROH as the bigger and more direct threat of the two which is why they went hard after ROH first. Also helped that AAA was being vague on if they could even run a show in MSG until very recently so less reason to worry about them at the time.

K, think I'm gonna have to officially tap out. The prices ain't going down. $200 gets you in the upper deck in the far back corner and I'm not convinced you'll be able to see jack.

If I was passionate about this card I might say fuck it and get a more expensive ticket but I just don't know if I can do that in good conscience for what has been such a poorly built show.

It's not Big Dave Meltz's day so far...

Who the fuck is Mary Kate Anthony?

Vastardikai 04-03-2019 09:53 AM

She allegedly has the tryout match between Tom Magee vs. Bret Hart.

SlickyTrickyDamon 04-03-2019 10:28 AM

She worked with Bret digitizing his tape library for a project that never went anywhere. She had a VHS mislabeled saying a match with Bret/Magee was from 1989 but it was a long sought after one from 1986. Magee was supposedly high on Vince's list of guys to be the man after Hogan.

She also posted a few days ago that for legal reasons she can't share the footage.

Jordan 04-03-2019 01:30 PM

I have seen a Tom Magee vs Bret Hart match, is it not the one in question?

Droford 04-03-2019 01:47 PM

she should just keep taking pics of the tv every second

Droford 04-03-2019 01:54 PM

Convinced that Joe will come out at WM. Rey will be announced, come out with Alexa "Due to being injured on RAW by Baron Corbin, this match is now the first ever WM US OPEN Challenge". Kurt Angle will come out, everyone will get excited. Then John Cena's music hits.
Triple Threat match. book it. Angle doesn't have to do much (gets knocked out of the ring for extened times to cover up he can't go anymore) but Angle wins the US title to retire and then they can do a Tourney on SD for a new US Champion.

Really? I could never find it.

Bad News Gertner 04-03-2019 03:03 PM

Because I'm a giant loser, I went through Tom Magee's wrestlingdata profile and only found the one Bret vs Magee match.

Mr. Nerfect 04-03-2019 05:18 PM

Ooh, Meltzer made a typo. Fucking Brad Shepherd.

Bad News Gertner 04-03-2019 05:29 PM

Cant wait for Brad to suck Meltzers dick after Ronda leaves

slik 04-03-2019 05:34 PM

I don't think Ronda is leaving-leaving

I think she's taking a break until it's time for SD to move to FOX in October.

Mr. Nerfect 04-03-2019 05:37 PM

Yeah, I think something like that is the deal.

Droford 04-03-2019 05:42 PM

She'll be back for Summerslam

That would seem about right considering her break is rumored to be a long one and WWE feels confident she'd be back before Survivor Series in November.

Probably won't get the long rumored WWE 4 Horsewomen vs. MMA 4 Horsewomen match since WWE is rumored to be breaking up the group in NXT once Baszler gets called up. Also doesn't help that Duke and Shafir have a long way to go for their development.

It made its rounds on the net several years back. Maybe 3-5 years ago. It was really solid for sure. There were some rough spots but it was by far better than anything I've seen of him otherwise.

I seem to recall there being multiple matches and one in particular that was really good. I think I've herd Bret hart say that.

Emperor Smeat 04-03-2019 11:22 PM

Since there is no Tipsters season this year, would anyone be interesting in playing in a Tipsters Eliminator season for the rest of this year?

Would start with WrestleMania 35 and last till the final WWE event of the year. Unlike regular Tipsters, winner isn't based on whoever has the highest score in the end but whoever scored the highest in the final event. After each event, a set number of people with the lowest scores get eliminated from the contest to trim down the field as the season goes on.

Also the ability to earn bonus points via a wildcard question related to the event itself and possible immunity for the next event for perfect scores. Scoring would be more simpler since pre-show matches wouldn't be counted and the amount of picks per match wouldn't be as in-depth (ex. no moves for finisher needs to be pick).

Been toying around with this idea for the past several weeks.

Droford 04-03-2019 11:47 PM

Wrestlers read insults 5 year olds wrote skit on Jimmy Fallon was kinda funny

GD 04-04-2019 09:28 AM

Have you folks seen the Ciampa video from WWE's PC YouTube channel?
