I am considering getting a Marvel Unlimited subscription, I never was a Marvel comics guy and wanted to know if their digital library has everything from the beginning (origin stories and so forth). In a brief update, TV industry-monitoring site TV by the Numbers reported Thursday evening that, as expected, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been picked up as a series by ABC. Additionally, the site states that the first promo will air during the network's Once Upon a Time season finale, scheduled to air this Sunday, May 12.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is slated to take place in Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity, and given the high-profile of the Marvel Studios films it was heavily expected to get a series order. The pilot, filmed earlier this year, was directed by The Avengers' Joss Whedon, and co-written by Whedon and his frequent collaborators Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. August Richards, reuniting with Whedon after his 2000-2004 stint on Angel.

The report goes on to say that while Quicksilver's role in DOFP will likely be closer to a cameo than anything else, with just one major scene, his role in Avengers 2 and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole will be much larger, with much bigger plans. They reaffirm, as we reported, that no mention of the character's other-worldly existence can be made in either film; without a mutant origin, that means if an origin for Pietro and Wanda's powers is given, it will have to be independent of the mutant gene.
