Kalyx triaD 09-22-2018 10:57 PM

There is no Batman from the sounds of it. Probably no Ace Chemicals, either. Or Red Hood for that matter.

Sixx 09-22-2018 11:00 PM

Umm, yeah, I just read the film is called Joker. I didn't know that. I thought this was gonna be this solo Batman movie Affleck was supposed to direct.

Damian Rey 2.0 09-23-2018 01:25 AM

I'm wondering if he gets the traditional Joker makeup later. The outfit is dead on. Kinda surreal this is happening. Read that a Joker Harley spinoff script was turned in today

Kalyx triaD 09-23-2018 01:30 PM

Yeah Leto Joker still lives.

Destor 09-23-2018 01:36 PM

I like how joker/harley joker is younger than the jokee origin story

Damian Rey 2.0 09-23-2018 04:48 PM

I find it oddly confusing and I wonder how the general audience will take to having such a notable character being represented by two different actors with different takes at that same time

Kalyx triaD 09-23-2018 05:27 PM

Perhaps WB believes the audience is ready for such a thing that comics and animation fans already got used to. Personally would not have been my call since it's absolutely gonna cause brand confusion.

Last I heard they're not connected. Only Leto is part of the DCU canon.

Destor 09-23-2018 06:06 PM

People want cannon not what if.

Kalyx triaD 09-23-2018 10:11 PM

A very similar issue was raised by fans when George Miller's Justice League movie was in pre-production during (what we thought would be) an ongoing SuperRouth *and* BatBale series, for potentially three concurrent DC movie-verses.

Sixx 09-23-2018 10:39 PM

That's fucked up.

Damian Rey 2.0 09-23-2018 11:06 PM

Let us not forget Matt Reeves' Batman is coming, which has gotten conflicting reports on whether it's canon or standalone. Certain seems to be its own thing much like the Bale Batman was.

Sixx 09-23-2018 11:38 PM

Make 8 seperate universes, why don't you?

DC, you bunch of dweebs. And you're surprised Marvel is absolutely raping you at the box office?

Damian Rey 2.0 09-23-2018 11:46 PM

They can't be surprised. They had it right when they were letting Nolan do his thing. They should've kept up with that. Focusing on standalone films and world building for that one iconic character. Instead they handed the reigns to Snyder, who's really never been any good, and it all went to hell.

Kalyx triaD 09-24-2018 01:15 AM

I feel a great sense of dread that WB's shenanigans will kick off a backlash that will kill DC in movies period. It's too messy, and good looking prospects (Aquaman, WW84, Shazam) will get caught up.

Seanny One Ball 09-24-2018 10:31 AM

Yes that's it, some shit films now will undo history itself.

Lock Jaw 09-24-2018 10:36 AM

I think they need some clearly defined brands/labels. Like the DCEU isn't even an official label. They need a label, and then maybe an "Elseworlds" brand where they can just make whatever kind of one shot movies they want and people won't be confused thinking it is with the larger universe movies.

slik 09-24-2018 11:09 AM

I don't see it as a problem at all that DC's films won't be connected initially.
If they ever want them to be, down the line, boom, cinematic 'Crisis on Infinite Earths'.

It's honestly not that complicated.

Damian Rey 2.0 09-24-2018 02:32 PM

It won't kill DC. If the movies mentioned are good, they will thrives. WW didn't suffer from MOS or BvS. Reeves' Batman will likely draw if it's as good as his previous films.

McLegend 09-24-2018 05:49 PM

This is just a guess, and maybe it’s been mentioned earlier this thread. I think Joaquin Phoenix Joker is a prequel to the Dark Knight.

Sixx 09-24-2018 05:51 PM

Why is he older than the Dark Knight Joker then?

Destor 09-24-2018 06:01 PM

Time travel.

Right, sorry.

Carry on.

Destor 09-24-2018 06:59 PM

It was that or magic. Whatever mcguffin we're using this week

McLegend 09-24-2018 07:10 PM

It was just a guess.

SPOILER: show

McLegend 09-27-2018 06:19 PM

YOU’RE mother is just a guess.

Lock Jaw 09-27-2018 06:59 PM

Heroes in Crisis

SPOILER: show
Wally West and Arsenal seemingly dead..... Along with D-list heroes Blue Jay, Lagoon Boy, and "Hot Spot" who I've never even heard of. Some sort of version of Commander Steel appears to be dead as well, which sucks because... who is he? How did he even fit into continuity if all the heroes of the 40s and their legacies didn't exist? I hope they clear up his identity in the future.....

Pretty shocked they killed Wally West... seems like after all the hard work they just did bringing him back, and building him up in Flash War, it would seem like his "story" wasn't done. I think he's coming back (again) sooner rather than later. Perhaps even by the end of this story.

slik 09-27-2018 10:10 PM

I liked Heroes in Crisis 1 more than Doomsday Clock 7.

The only thing I didn't like in HIC was the biggest death

Lock Jaw 09-27-2018 10:23 PM

I liked Doomsday Clock more because I feel like we are getting closer and closer to getting the JSA back, which is really all I want.......

Lock Jaw 10-04-2018 02:17 PM

I gave up on the show 2 or 3 episodes in, but Lobo looking good for Season 2 of Krypton:

Damn, that DOES look good.

New DC Comics "Bendis-curated Imprint" announced called "Wonder Comics".

https://static3.cbrimages.com/wp-con...h=691&fit=crop

At the least a new "Young Justice" series coming.

Unclear whether the series/imprint will be in continuity or not.

slik 10-04-2018 07:49 PM

They have said YES it will

and Bendis is bringing back Connor Kent (which I think is awesome) and he will be introducing Ginny Hex, the great-great-great-great grandaughter of Jonah Hex, who has an eye for adventure. Also back are The Wonder Twins and a new teenage Green Lantern, who will apparently co-exist w/ Grant Morrison's upcoming quasi-reboot of Green Lantern.

Lock Jaw 10-04-2018 07:55 PM

Oh, didn't see anywhere that said it was in continuity.....

Sweet then at Connor Kent being back, but wonder how he is gonna "fit in" with another Superboy already running around...... Also interested in Wonder Girl since she was pretty heavily messed up by New 52

Lock Jaw 10-04-2018 07:56 PM

Oh, ok. Says "in continuity" right in the press release.

Because as normal the show id and has always been reasonably bad

Sixx 10-22-2018 06:49 PM

I like Gotham. Sure, it's got some stupid ideas (Jerome NOT being Joker, while totally being Joker) and the little shit playing Bruce has a really punchable face, but overall I do enjoy it.

Lock Jaw 10-22-2018 07:08 PM

I was enjoying it, but fell behind somewhere in season 3 and never picked it up again

Sixx 10-22-2018 09:02 PM

Just watched the Titans trailer. Why does everything have to be so fucking gritty these days?

Emperor Smeat 10-23-2018 01:38 AM

Probably just DC trying to strike the iron again and hope they eventually get another Dark Knight series mega hit for their universe.

Marvel has been lucky with their constant striking of the iron since it still pumps out big money making and critical hit films even as people are starting to get tired of them feeling the same visually and plot formula wise. They've been more hit and miss with tv but their universe is still very healthy oerall.

Kalyx triaD 10-23-2018 03:54 AM

Lost track after season two or three but it was unusually brilliant every time I saw it. It had a tremendous gothic vibe hybridised with some pomp and circumstance. I felt quite creeped out several times, that thing with the nutty woman in the attic...

slik 10-31-2018 01:22 PM

I enjoyed Batman: Secret Files overall

Heroes in Crisis #2 was a mixed bag for me. Tom King nails the small character moments. I wasn't real sold on the following though:

SPOILER: show

Harley Quinn defeating Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

A lot of people will be mad they killed off Poison Ivy probably

Shadow 10-31-2018 03:36 PM

............................I'm sorry they did WHAT!?

Lock Jaw 10-31-2018 06:58 PM

Yeah, just read it.... that was a bit ridiculous... @slik

SPOILER: show
As for Ivy's death.... it is one of those ones that is not gonna stick forever, so I ain't sweating it. I'm more mad about the Commander Steel situation.

Lock Jaw 11-08-2018 10:36 PM

Jeremy Irons cast as Ozymandias in HBO's Watchmen series

Lock Jaw 11-08-2018 11:15 PM

Read the first issue of Grant Morrison's "The Green Lantern". It was meh....

Feel like Hal Jordan is the least interesting Green Lantern. Wish that Simon Baz/Jessica Cruz still had their own book. I have a bad feeling that Simon Baz is gonna be revealed to have died in Heroes in Crises though.... which would suck because there are so many dangling plots with him.....

slik 11-09-2018 09:48 AM

I liked Morrison's Green Lantern. Felt like a cop tv show meets Morrison's mind-bend-ery type stuff.

Kind of nice to see the GL treated more as space cops than the usual obsession w/ the umpteen different lantern corps (green, blue, yellow, etc). I'm curious to see where it goes next. Solicit for issue 3 mentions Earth being put up for sale on The Black Market and Hal going to investigate.

slik 11-09-2018 09:51 AM

I've heard Brian Bendis/super cool artist Nick Derington's Batman story is really fun in the Wal*Mart DC book...

Hoping when that's all done they'll release it as one-shot or something.

slik 11-09-2018 10:00 AM

Still struggling to get into Scott Snyder's Justice League...I thought the new 'Drowned Earth' storyline would be it's own thing and it started really big but then the end of most recent issue tied it to

SPOILER: show

The Legion Of Doom...

I feel like Snyder has all these big, bombastic ideas but never gives them time to land or flesh out. The idea of Earth being invaded by all the sea gods of various planets and all the various sea gods can control the oceans on any planet throughout the entire galaxy is cool but it won't probably be expanded upon much I fear.

Sixx 11-09-2018 10:26 AM

Meh, never liked Green Lantern.

A superhero you can defeat with sunflowers or lemons.

Lock Jaw 11-09-2018 10:32 AM

Hasn't had the weakness to yellow in decades

Sixx 11-09-2018 10:36 AM

So he could have been klled by a lemon some decades ago.

Who cares, he's a fruitcake anyway.

Lock Jaw 11-09-2018 10:43 AM

The original Green Lantern was weak against wood. In the New 52 he was reimagined as a homosexual. Correlation?

Sixx 11-09-2018 10:46 AM

Fruitcake, wood, homo.

Ok, this makes perfect sanse. Cheers.

Sixx 11-09-2018 10:47 AM

Wait, wasn't Wonder Women powerless against bondage? As in, when a MAN tied her up.

Lock Jaw 11-09-2018 05:01 PM

Yeah.... Wonder Woman and her creator were all sorts of messed up.

I hope in Doomsday Clock, Green Lantern Alan Scott comes back and is no longer a homosexual, because I liked the characters of his kids. One of whom was a homosexual, I guess.

RP 11-16-2018 04:20 PM

RP 11-17-2018 11:06 AM

I dont doubt his acting. His look is a bit off for me i guess. I dont know.

Shadow 11-17-2018 03:17 PM

He has gone bald in recent years so...

Lock Jaw 11-20-2018 05:41 PM

The official title of the upcoming "Birds of Prey" movie is: "Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)"

Kalyx triaD 11-20-2018 05:44 PM

Bullshit.

Lock Jaw 11-20-2018 05:46 PM

It has been "confirmed"

Sixx 11-20-2018 06:05 PM

Cryer's face is way too happy/cheerful.

slik 11-30-2018 09:06 AM

Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes) is getting a live-action big budget film:

https://www.bleedingcool.com/2018/11...e-beetle-film/

Kalyx triaD 11-30-2018 10:16 AM

I'd have tested the waters with an animated movie but ok.

Lock Jaw 11-30-2018 01:39 PM

Dunno, they keep trying to push Blue Beetle Jaime Reyes in comics/cartoons but it never seems to stick.

Fignuts 11-30-2018 02:32 PM

He’s just not very interesting.

Kalyx triaD 11-30-2018 02:43 PM

If they frame it as Ted Kord training a new Blue Beetle in New Mexico, have some fun with the comically homicidal AI - lil bit Ant-Man, lil bit Venom - don't go ham with any overt immigration messaging...

It can work.

Lock Jaw 11-30-2018 02:49 PM

Ted Kord was in the newest Blue Beetle comic series in a mentor role..... didn't read it, though.... was canceled anyways.

slik 12-05-2018 04:14 AM

DC is on fire this week.

Doomsday Clock #8 - Fantastic. They are really nailing this sequel to 'The Watchmen'. Superman comes across perfectly written here and the twist at the end is a jaw dropper.

Shazam #1 - Really good. This is a great concept. Honors the past and resets for the future, in the way Geoff Johns did for Green Lantern years ago. Very big things ahead for this, loads of potential.

Batman #60 - Excellent art and another big twist ending. One that no one saw coming.

Justice League #13 - Delves into why Luthor trusts (?) The Joker. The Joker written near perfect here. The entire Cosmos is up for grabs, but what's the punchline, indeed.

The Green Lantern #2 - Grant Morrison's take on Green Lantern continues with trippy art and some really cool new Lanterns. This new focus of GL as space police is a strong approach, and the villains seem like they are warming up to be a Cosmos level threat.

Good week for DC.

Sixx 12-05-2018 06:06 AM

They need to make up for DCEU.

I bet Marvel comics suck these days.

slik 12-05-2018 09:24 AM

From what I've heard a lot of Marvel comics apparently do suck now.

Last I read, which was a little less than a year ago they were terrible.

Time travel this, time travel that, alternate reality, clones, etc.

It's sad when a full grown man can't understand comic books.

Fignuts 12-06-2018 07:04 AM

Marvel's absolute addiction to time travel/alternate reality stories has been their biggest crutch the last 10 years.

Remember Age of Apocalypse? How it was a huge deal? or the Ultimate Universe? All these alternate universes that actually meant something?

They don't mean anything these days. Too fucking many. They killed the mystique of it.

Fignuts 12-06-2018 07:06 AM

That said, even if the major titles like Avengers, X-men, and Spider-man aren't great theres always something out there worth reading. I've been reading the new Venom comic lately and its been really good.

slik 12-06-2018 08:34 AM

I did hear Incredible Hulk has a horror feel to it now, which sounds decent

Fignuts 12-10-2018 02:34 AM

I started reading that and yeah, it's been very good. It's not traditional horror. To me more specific, it's closer to the classic pulp horror comics. Tales from the Crypt type of stuff.

Also started reading Heroes in Crisis. Really fucking dumb so far.

SPOILER: show

The worst part about it is that there are some really good ideas in here. The whole concept of Sanctuary. I was still invested in it when the possibility of Booster being the culprit was still there. Lots of different ways you could have gone with that one. But no. Gotta sell those halloween costumes to all the sluts.

slik 12-10-2018 03:25 AM

I like Heroes in Crisis but I'm a fan of Tom King, so I'm curious to see where it goes. He can pack a punch emotionally, so I'm assuming he's setting things up.

slik 12-10-2018 03:26 AM

It's not as good as Doomsday Clock though, or the stuff Bendis is doing with both Action Comics and Superman. Bendis really is knocking Supes out of the park.

slik 12-10-2018 03:26 AM

This is fantastic.

The character moments are good. I liked the little confessionals. And Booster acting so weird had me intrigued. But Harley stuff just had me cringing too much.

slik 12-10-2018 10:01 AM

I cringed at Harley defeating Wonder Woman, Supes and Bats. That's so not in her league.

Fignuts 12-10-2018 04:25 PM

I'm not sure defeating an entire house full of powered heroes is either, c-list or not.

Fignuts 12-10-2018 04:29 PM

They literally had to make excuses for everyone. Boosters shields weren't working. Wally was in shock (which is bullshit. Wally West has been in the superhero game long enough where that shouldn't happen. He's a pro and he's seen plenty of death.) And that whole scene with the trinity was just nonsense when you factor in the super speed of superan and wonder woman.

Lock Jaw 12-11-2018 11:34 PM

At the end of this year's DC TV shows crossover, the next year's crossover was already announced:

Sixx 12-11-2018 11:38 PM

That's alternate universes, ain't it?
