Sorta a corny character, but I like France.

Hmm

Krimzon7 03-26-2013 01:34 AM

Ugh, he will have a 25 minute cameo of him wrestle fucking Cap.

The Destroyer 03-26-2013 06:15 AM

Can't see it being a huge role. Maybe an early in the film villain for Cap to polish off.

Haaa! GSP would definitely defeat Captain America via nothing but takedowns in what would be the shittiest battle in the history of superhero battles. Then, he'll apologize for not finishing Cap off by telling us what a tough opponent he was.

Thursday’s sequel casting news added cast members to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with actors from Arrested Development and The Office.

Judy Greer (Archer, Arrested Development) has been cast as the female chimp Cornelia (using a motion capture suit) in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, according to Vulture. She joins recent addition Keri Russell (see "Keri Russell in 'Apes'"), but may end up interacting more with Andy Serkis in his role as lead ape Ceaser.

And The Office vet B.J. Novak has been added to the cast of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, according to a tweet from director Marc Webb. Other recent additions to the cast include Chris Cooper, Colm Feore, and Paul Giamatti (see "Chris Cooper in 'Spidey' Sequel").

Lock Jaw 03-29-2013 05:59 PM

Just watched "X2: X-Men United" for the first time since I saw it in theaters. 10 years ago. Damn.

Kalyx triaD 03-29-2013 08:43 PM

Yeah. Great movie still. I try to slip in an X-marathon every few years.

Corporate CockSnogger 03-29-2013 09:14 PM

Had no idea it was called X-Men United in America. Probably gonna have an X-Men movie marathon myself over the next week or so. That Wolverine trailer had got me in the mood.

Lock Jaw 03-29-2013 10:29 PM

Just watched X-Men: The Last Stand FOR THE FIRST TIME.

I've long had it spoiled that Cyclops died in the movie, but even so I was waiting the whole movie for him to show up again at a pivotal time, only to really die.... because I didn't think the first "death" was real.

Kalyx triaD 03-29-2013 10:30 PM

Oh yeah they off'd his ass. He had to go hate on Superman.

Nowhere Man 04-02-2013 02:46 AM

Okay, so I finally got around to reading some of Marvel's new titles since the Marvel NOW thing started. I've been a DC fanboy for a very long time, and didn't really have any interest in Marvel outside of their movies. But considering that the editorial crew at DC seem pretty dead-set on making sure I don't read their books ever again, I figured I might as well give Marvel another chance.

Right now, I've only tried out Thor: God of Thunder, and Indestructible Hulk. Both of which are fucking awesome. Seriously, the stuff they're doing in these books is why I'm a fan of comics in the first place. So yeah, good on them for finally making me jump ship.

Miotch 04-02-2013 12:39 PM

All-New X-Men, the new Avengers run, and Uncanny Avengers are all superb.

Lock Jaw 04-02-2013 12:43 PM

Since DC went mostly off the rails, I too have been catching up on my Marvel. I am still way behind, though. I have just entered the Heroic Age. I could skip ahead to the present, but what is the fun in that.

Miotch 04-02-2013 02:21 PM

Not having to read all the terrible shit?

Lock Jaw 04-02-2013 02:32 PM

Well, I'm not reading EVERYTHING.

Kalyx triaD 04-03-2013 06:26 PM

Zoe Saldana is totally going to be Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy, because she's always been smart enough to know the difference between 'serious' movies and action figure revenue. She joins Chris Pratt and The Animal Bautista (Star-Lord and Drax respectively).

Fignuts 04-04-2013 02:24 AM

Why is Wiki telling me Robert Redford is gonna be in the next Captain America?

Lock Jaw 04-04-2013 09:35 PM

Because he has signed on to be in the next Captain America. He says he is playing the "head of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Sixx 04-04-2013 09:43 PM

Yo, fuck you, what the fuck is head of SHIELD? I thought Nick Fury was the head of SHIELD.

Kalyx triaD 04-04-2013 09:49 PM

Perhaps his actions got him demoted, or he's representing the World Counsel.

Lock Jaw 04-05-2013 05:34 PM

J. August Richards cast in the S.H.I.E.L.D. tv series in a "super top-secret" role.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-05-2013 05:39 PM

Yessssssss Gunn! Love him.

McLegend 04-05-2013 06:22 PM

I had no idea he was in the Avengers.

loopydate 04-05-2013 09:23 PM

Luke Cage?

Lock Jaw 04-05-2013 09:27 PM

Would be "cool" if they debuted a "big" hero on the TV show.

Kalyx triaD 04-05-2013 09:30 PM

I'm thinking Carol/Ms Marvel/Captain Marvel.

Lock Jaw 04-05-2013 09:32 PM

I don't see J August Richards playing Ms Marvel. Could be a bit of a stretch.

Kalyx triaD 04-05-2013 09:35 PM

Wasn't saying that, just that she could be one of the big heroes to debut on the show.

Or, they might be doing some time-jumping (I mean edit wise, not as a plot device) to involve some expositon into some matters while Cap was frozen and RR might be the guy Fury eventually replaces.

An unfortunate side effect of Rogue's prolonged power sapping: changing her from a white woman into a black guy.

That's actually unexplored potential right there. Maybe not everyone goes into comas.

Nepotist Joss Whedon pity casting.

Ripper 04-06-2013 08:47 AM

Depending on his role he could be quite good, in his defence he wasn't that bad in Angel the phrase 'super top-secret role' is a little worrying though as it suggests Whedon is going to try and be clever with it.

Here's how ABC describes the series:

"Joss Whedon (MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) shows us not all heroes are super with MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Fresh from his role in the summer’s box office smash, MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) returns to the worldwide law enforcement organization S.H.I.E.L.D. He puts together a small, highly trained, team of Agents to tackle the cases that haven’t been classified yet, the new, the strange and the unknown. That team consists of straight arrow Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), an expert in combat and espionage; pilot and martial artist Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen); and brilliant if socially awkward scientists Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). They’ll be joined by civilian new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

"Prepare for an epic adventure that showcases the hope and wonder of the human spirit. This is a world of Super Heroes, aliens and the unusual – of action, spectacle and world spanning stories. The show will speak to the human condition through the lens of our very human, non-powered S.H.I.E.L.D agents – that together we are greater than we are apart, and that we can make a difference in the world.

"Executive Produced and co-written by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog), Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Smallville, Lost, Heroes) comes Marvel’s first live-action TV series, MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D."

Always with the socially awkward scientists.

I fucking love the original guardians series. Yondu was never my favourite character but this is still fantastic news.

I don't even care that he's supposed to be from the 31st century.

Lock Jaw 04-23-2013 04:34 PM

The rights to Daredevil have officially gone back to Marvel Studios (from FOX).

Kalyx triaD 04-23-2013 06:34 PM

We all knew that. Fox dropped the ball last year and I knew they weren't going to make another movie in time.

Lock Jaw 04-23-2013 06:44 PM

Obviously we did not all know that. I just saw the news "making the rounds" yesterday night. It does say that the rights would have reverted on October 10, so it is possible for some to know that.

Kalyx triaD 04-23-2013 06:48 PM

Well I knew that and shared it as such so I though we were all on the same page there. I will be more clear about musings in the future.

Lock Jaw 04-23-2013 08:29 PM

Now question answered. So there we have it.

I will also care depending on if they make a good Daredevil movie. I have read good Daredevil stories, so it is possible.

Skippord 04-23-2013 11:51 PM

Big Daredevil fan, so I care.

The Destroyer 04-24-2013 05:15 AM

Yeah there's been fantastic Daredevil stuff over the years. Love the Bendis and Brubaker runs.

Probably going to be a long time before we see a DD film from Marvel though.

Fignuts 04-24-2013 05:24 AM

Daredevil has been one of, if not the best written characters the last 10 years. From Kevin Smith to Ed Brubaker's run, DD has been amazing, and I hope they reboot it.

If you get someone who understands the character, a DD movie could be incredible.

Not sure why that Punisher with Ray Stevenson is so hated. I thought it was a damn good movie and Stevenson was great as Punisher (better cast than Thomas Jane).

DaveBrawl 04-24-2013 10:44 AM

I also care about Daredevil.

Rammsteinmad 04-24-2013 01:33 PM

Loved both Punisher movies, but that Ray Stevenson one was probably the most accurate depiction of the character on-screen.

As for Daredevil, personally I loved the movie. Granted, there's a lot of stuff about it that coulda been different, but overall it's a good film, and I thought Ben Afleck did a good job. Definitely wanna see a new Daredevil movie, one of my favourite characters.

The Destroyer 04-24-2013 01:41 PM

Weird, could have sworn I posted this already. I thought War Zone was alright, but it wasn't really that great. Ray Stevenson was excellent though.

Innovator 04-24-2013 04:28 PM

War Zone was closer to what I want to see out of Frank Castle on screen.

Also, the extended director's cut of Daredevil was better than the theatrical release.

Miotch 04-24-2013 07:11 PM

While I do not care for DD as a character, one thing I read did somewhat intrigue me. This could open up the possibility for Iron Fist and Luke Cage to be part of the story line. Love Iron Fist, don't care either way about Cage, but it could be done well in thinking about it.

Blitz 04-24-2013 09:01 PM

Punisher: Warzone had no right to be as good as it was.

SPOILER ALERT

In the pilot, it’s revealed Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), the ultimate super spy, faked Agent Coulson’s death on purpose to motivate The Avengers. Some S.H.I.E.L.D. members were in on it (including, possibly, Maria Hill played by Cobie Smulders) but The Avengers were not. Their security clearance wasn’t high enough. Coulson was forced to hold his breath as part of the ruse and that’s a point of contention among his colleagues After the fact, Fury moved him to a remote location until things died down, and then he was reinserted into duty at the time of the show.

At this moment, several things are unclear about this explanation. First, it’s unclear how Loki piercing him with the scepter didn’t kill him. Also, it’s unclear if Coulson’s return to S.H.I.E.L.D. will be a reveal in the rest of Phase Two or exactly why he was reinstated. What is clear is this plot point is part of a larger story, with more details to be revealed in the show itself. Things may change but, for now, this is the basic story Marvel is going with.

Don't really know how legit of a source this is, whedonesque usually posts solid stuff but they're not claiming it as official news and more "is this the real reason? We'll let you decide." kinda thing.
