All the Spider-Man movies are awesome. Fuck you all for thinking otherwise. You're wrong!

This is probably true, especially with the gigantic effects budget the Raimi films had. But fucking CHRIST Toby is the worst, and the writing was terrible.

Kalyx triaD 02-07-2013 04:06 PM

I happen to like Tobey's portrayal and the writing was fine.

Fignuts 02-08-2013 01:07 AM

Gonna be honest, I never really had a problem with Tobey.

Dunst was a pretty terrible Mary Jane though.

Shadow 02-08-2013 12:05 PM

But that's because Dunst is just terrible all around.

Columbia Pictures has formally announced the official start of filming on Marc Webb’s Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is slated to open on May 4th, 2014. According to Columbia, this will be the first Spider-Man movie that will be filmed entirely in New York City and New York State.

The studio’s press release confirmed that Paul Giamatti will be starring in the film, though it declined to note that he will be playing "The Rhino" (see "Paul Giamatti in Talks to Play Rhino in 'Spider-Man 2'"). Columbia also revealed that Colm Feore (Slings & Arrows, Thor, The Borgias) will be joining the ASM 2 cast. No role for Feore was announced, but many insiders believe he will portray Norman Osborn.

As if to point up the role of Oscorp in the Amazing Spider-Man sequel, director Marc Webb released a photo on Twitter from the second day of shooting that reveals a rather ominous-looking Oscorp device that should be familiar to comic book readers.

Marvel Comics’ latest teaser for The Age of Ultron scraps the previous "Submit or Perish" motto for the more deadly sounding "Do or Die," and asks the ominous question "Who will emerge from The Age of Ultron?" It would certainly appear that the Brian Michael Bendis-penned crossover event could involve the demise of a Marvel hero or two.

The teaser image from the Age of Ultron #7 certainly would appear to indicate that the crossover event might just be taking place in an alternate Marvel Comic universe since the normally recognizable Marvel characters and their costumes are mashed-up in a very strange ways. How does one explain what looks like the Wasp wearing the new Captain Marvel costume—and what's with Cycops looking more like Cable—and why is Wolvie back in his popular brown on tan costume—and Star-Lord looks be be wearing a costume more like his original one? Do these changes reflect some sort of alternate or future Marvel Universe, or are these changes the result of what happens in the first six issues of the Age of Ultron?

dronepool 02-10-2013 03:35 PM

I hate to admit it, but I like that teaser. I'm curious about it but I think I'll just wait for the trade... wonder how it conflicts with Marvel NOW.

The Destroyer 02-14-2013 05:35 PM

Looks like Peter Dinklage is going to be in Days of Future Past. Can't think who the hell he's likely to be playing though.

Lock Jaw 02-14-2013 05:41 PM

Supposedly he is playing a villain (possibly the "main villain"). Are there any midget villains in X-Men?

Krimzon7 02-14-2013 08:01 PM

Puck. Alpha Flight.

Lock Jaw 02-14-2013 08:50 PM

Isn't Puck a good guy?

Krimzon7 02-14-2013 08:53 PM

A: you said supposedly
B: the lines of 'good' and 'bad' can be blurred based on whom eyes you're looking through.

Lock Jaw 02-14-2013 09:02 PM

From newsarama:

Quote:

Update Feb. 14: X-Men fans getting their hopes up to see Peter Dinklage play Puck in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past may have to reset - Variety is reporting Thursday afternoon the Game of Thrones actor is playing a villain. Citing unnamed sources the Hollywood trade doesn't identify the villain by name, but describes him as the film's "main antagonist."

Miotch 02-14-2013 09:21 PM

MODOK maybe?

Kalyx triaD 02-14-2013 09:44 PM

Certainly not.

Krimzon7 02-14-2013 10:34 PM

MODOK was an Avenger's villian right?

Skippord 02-14-2013 11:00 PM

Miniature Bolivar Trask

Often. Bear in mind AIM is going to be featured in Iron Man 3.

Krimzon7 02-14-2013 11:52 PM

Worlds Collide.

Kalyx triaD 02-14-2013 11:56 PM

There's a good chance Days of Future's Past will be Hugh Jackman's last round as Logan/Wolverine/James "Jimmy" Howlett. He's not getting any younger, but I loved this guy. I'm glad he stuck around this long in a reboot/recast happy Hollywood.

dronepool 02-15-2013 01:01 AM

Not before they do Old Man Logan, hopefully.... or Wolverine as an old badass.

Fignuts 02-15-2013 02:56 AM

I like him but he was never perfect for the role IMO.

I'd get someone grittier. Clint Eastwood type.

Kalyx triaD 02-15-2013 03:10 AM

He wouldn't been my first choice, but I love him now.

The Destroyer 02-15-2013 04:07 AM

Probably totally unlikely to be true, but the only X-Men character I can think of fitting into the setting (time travel, shitty future etc.) that Dinklage would fit physically would be would be Trevor Fitzroy's stooge Bantam.

Can't see it though. Character is probably far too obscure and I'm not sure I'd even want it to be correct.

Yeah that Trask rumour does seem to be doing the rounds.

Also Game of Thrones related, Jason Momoa is being rumoured for Drax The Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Amazing Spidey 2 Attire Reveal:

http://media.comicbookmovie.com/imag...er-Man_2_1.jpg

Much better, with cues from the Raimi suit. Love the eyes.

Fignuts 02-25-2013 12:48 PM

Those eyes are fantastic.

Nowhere Man 02-25-2013 02:51 PM

I liked the first ASM suit, but that's a major improvement.

Next Big Thing 02-25-2013 03:14 PM

So check it, I haven't followed a Marvel Comic since the Skrulls Secret Invasion. I was wondering if you guys thought the Fear Itself story arc was any good. No spoilers please. Thanks in advance.

The Destroyer 02-25-2013 03:19 PM

And I thought I was far behind. Although I'm still only really up to Siege.

I heard Fear Itself is alright, but with the usual "gets worse towards the end" thing that most big crossovers seem to have. Should really get around to reading it sometime soon.

Fignuts 02-25-2013 04:42 PM

Hated fear itself. Art is nice and all but there really is nothing more to it than "evil guy wants to destroy the world". Which wouldn't be a bad thing if the villain wasn't so boring.

Cap punking out Odin was fun though.

Fignuts 02-25-2013 04:44 PM

Siege would have been good as a 6 or 7 part series, but as it is, it's just way too short.

Think I wrote a big thing on it in the comic group.

McLegend 02-25-2013 05:09 PM

Cap is the man in "Fear Itself"

In the end of one of the chapters he is the basically God. I love Captain America so much.

Kalyx triaD 02-26-2013 11:32 AM

My latest blog update is first of a trilogy of blogs looking at the Marvel Cinematic Universe's past, present, and future. I talk about Phase One and will have Phase Two news/commentary up later today. Part three will be largely speculation on Phase Three and what all of this means to the comic book movie genre.

Thanks for clicking/reading!

Fear Itself sucked 6 dirty dicks in a row.

Miotch 02-26-2013 02:35 PM

Hey, what was/is the title of the arc where a bunch of teen heroes were randomly sent to an island where they have to battle to the death?

Can't remember. Want to read. Thanks in advance.

Krimzon7 02-26-2013 03:21 PM

Battle Royale...or is it Royale with Cheese? Damned metric system...

Miotch 02-26-2013 03:22 PM

Avengers Arena. Thank you google.

Krimzon7 02-26-2013 03:30 PM

wait...it was based on Battle Royale at least right?

Yep, while riding the wave of Hunger Games fever.

Second part of my Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 2 primer is up. More 'news-y' than the last MCU blog I did months ago. Comes off as too 'ad-y', actually, but I like it.

Wow what a bad pic of whoever that actress that's playing MJ. Eh..

Kalyx triaD 02-26-2013 09:46 PM

Says before says again; wait for the finished movie with all the artsy angles and filters. Set pics don't mean a damn thing.

Except for Thor, who looks all manner of badass even just sitting on the grass.

Kalyx triaD 02-27-2013 12:06 PM

It's much more speculative but I leave it in a hope spot.

Kalyx triaD 02-27-2013 03:50 PM

Chris Cooper is Norman Osborn.

Blitz 02-27-2013 04:51 PM

I like that casting. Then again, I'd watch Cooper read the phone book.

MANIACAL LAUGH! MANIACAL LAUGHHHHH!

Kalyx triaD 03-01-2013 08:55 AM

Halle Berry pretty much back as Storm. All we need to hear from is James and Famke but like hell they're not coming back to this party.

Next Big Thing 03-01-2013 02:01 PM

Skipped Fear Itself based on your recommendations and went right ahead to Avengers v. X-Men. That ish was amazing.

Reavant 03-01-2013 03:30 PM

all fear itself did was bring steve rogers back as cap, turn bucky back to winter soldier, colossus become the juggernaut, and thor died for like a month

Fignuts 03-01-2013 05:11 PM

Years worth of fresh new stories they could have told with Bucky as cap, and Steve in a nick fury role. So fucking pointless.

AvX restored my faith in the big marvel crossover.

Miotch 03-04-2013 04:53 PM

Started reading All New X-Men, the latest Avengers run, and Avengers Arena last night.

I'm only a couple books into each, and they're all entertaining to a point. Avengers Arena was one I had high hopes for, and of the three it's the most disappointing thus far.

The Destroyer 03-10-2013 02:12 PM

The Marvel #1 thing that's been teased lately look to be them giving away a shitload of free issue #1's of various series.

Looks like they're available via Comixology (and therefore presumably the Marvel app), apparently over 700 different series.

Well he's historically been an Avenger. This isn't as 'wtf' as the JL cartoon adding GL John over Hal(!) or Kyle who was introduced in the DCAU beforehand (Superman TAS).

He'll probably make the sequel movie depending on what Joss feels like with his appearance in Cap 2.

Marvel CCO Joe Quesada will illustrate the ending of the final issue of Age of Ultron, Marvel announced. Like the first nine issues, the tenth and final issue in the series will be written by Brian Michael Bendis. Other art in the final issue will be by Carlos Pacheco and Bryan Hitch.

Age of Ultron #10 ships in June.

Kalyx triaD 03-14-2013 08:59 PM

Bautista Is Drax the Destroyer for the Guardians movie.

dronepool 03-14-2013 10:17 PM

That has to be a joke... not really familiar with the character... but he better pull it off or this movie will be a joke with his name as a main character.

Hope he's a better actor than Dwayne or Cena...

Kalyx triaD 03-14-2013 10:49 PM

Maybe the character doesn't require great acting? His name is Drax the Destroyer.

It's whatever.

Skippord 03-15-2013 12:01 AM

would've preferred Jason Momoa or whatever his name is

Kalyx triaD 03-15-2013 12:24 AM

He passed on it.

Fignuts 03-15-2013 01:26 AM

I don't mind Batista as Drax. He was good in Man with the Iron Fists.

dronepool 03-15-2013 01:42 AM

Well as long as he does a good job, keeps busy and stays out of the WWE.

Skippord 03-15-2013 02:36 AM

I wonder if Batista will have his girl nose ring in as Drax.

Corporate CockSnogger 03-15-2013 09:09 AM

Are Guardians of the Galaxy definitely going to appear in The Avengers or one of the solo movies as well? Seems like a pretty amateur casting for such a huge franchise.

Corporate CockSnogger 03-15-2013 09:11 AM

By all means he could surprise me and be great in the role, but at the moment it's not the most encouraging of castings on paper.

Kalyx triaD 03-15-2013 09:12 AM

It is officially a part of Phase Two if that's what you mean. Doubt Dave will have a lot of speaking roles.

Lock Jaw 03-20-2013 04:45 PM

The Ant-Man test footage that was shown at some Comic-Con awhile ago is finally being bootlegged onto the interwebs. Not sure what took so long.

<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://s0.videopress.com/player.swf?v=1.03" width="400" height="292" wmode="direct" seamlesstabbing="true" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" overstretch="true" flashvars="guid=TqZc1axP&amp;isDynamicSeeking=true"></embed>

Kalyx triaD 03-20-2013 04:51 PM

Yeah that was a while. Dronepool dropped me the link yesterday.

While I like more characters heading toward the big screen I don't know if Ant-Man is cool enough to sustain a movie. It's an inherently goofy super-power and I see much more value in Hank Pym than 'Honey I Shrunk The Superman'.

Miotch 03-20-2013 05:42 PM

Couple things. First, the helmet he's wearing looks an awful lot like Ultron.

Second, I think Ant Man could really be fantastic, but Pym has to be completely ego-maniacal. They won't do it, but I'd love to see the Pym arc mirror The Ultimates. Complete asshole, wife beater, etc.

Kalyx triaD 03-20-2013 06:12 PM

The Ultimates line gets mined for more beats than people think, though. Even EMH portrayed him fairly flawed, with surprisingly little redemption

Skippord 03-20-2013 06:19 PM

Ant-Man is the worst

will still probably see the movie though

Kalyx triaD 03-20-2013 06:24 PM

It's a Marvel movie so I'm kinda honor bound to see it at least once. And it's an MCU movie, so maybe twice.

Rammsteinmad 03-21-2013 08:34 AM

Looks alright, going by that one clip.

Fignuts 03-22-2013 01:50 AM

Hank Pym is a great character if only for how flawed he is. But yeah, his superhero personas have always been lame.

Skippord 03-22-2013 01:52 AM

I do not understand how getting way smaller than a normal person is a superpower

Kalyx triaD 03-22-2013 01:56 AM

Relative ant strength and blah blah stupidity.

Skippord 03-22-2013 02:47 AM

so that's something I've never gotten

is he as strong as an regular ant or as a person who has the strength of an ant but has to be small to have that strength thus making it pointless? Ant-Man is bullshit.

Skippord 03-22-2013 02:48 AM

if it made him as relatively strong as an ant while he was a regular sized person it'd be fine because he'd be really strong, but if he has to be small to be strong it's wildly impractical.

dronepool 03-22-2013 03:18 AM

He also had a helmet that can communicate with ants, right? But yeah, he could shrink and keep his normal strength as far as I know, not sure what happens when he grows as Giant Man.

*Yup

Quote:

After constant experimentation with size-changing via ingested capsules and particle-filled gas, Pym is eventually able to change size at will, and mentally generate Pym particles to change the sizes of other living beings or inanimate objects. Pym retains his normal strength when "ant" size, and possesses greatly increased strength and stamina when in "giant" form, courtesy of the increased mass. Pym’s costume is synthetic stretch fabric composed of unstable molecules and automatically adapts to his shifting sizes.

The character also uses a cybernetic helmet for achieving rudimentary communication with ants and other higher order insects. As Yellowjacket, Pym wears artificial wings and has bio-blasters called "stingers" built into his gloves. Pym also carries a variety of weaponry, provisions, and scientific instruments, which are shrunken to the size of microchips and stored in the pockets of his uniform.

Skippord 03-22-2013 05:45 PM

and they still can't get a Black Panther movie?

Kalyx triaD 03-22-2013 06:07 PM

Robert Redford might be in Captain America Winter Solider.
