A year prior in the WrestleMania 2000 game, they did a decent job on the HHH model:

James Steele 06-24-2013 12:27 PM

...not that I'm still mad about it or anything.

screech 06-24-2013 12:31 PM

lol I'm not sure what they were going for there

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-24-2013 12:34 PM

That's why No Mercy is overrated. The faces look like dogshit.

screech 06-24-2013 12:35 PM

Or why they chose Richards as the heel for the main WWF title story. Was originally Big Show but he didn't make the game (though his moves, mannerisms, and outfits did).

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-24-2013 12:39 PM

shane: which way did he go?

stevie: (chokeslam) I'll show you! You'll see!

lol yes, that's the biggest reason

screech 06-24-2013 12:43 PM

Iron man match is so dumb in this. Wish there was 2P championship for the tag team story instead.

screech 06-24-2013 12:57 PM

Wish they would have kept the burned Kane face from WrestleMania 2000, though. Can't pull up a picture on my phone. womp womp

Emperor Smeat 06-24-2013 04:12 PM

Liked WM 2000 a bit more than No Mercy mainly because it kept the full entrances and didn't feel a bit slow/sluggish with 4 wrestlers in the ring.

Could be wrong but I think the team actually liked him a lot at the time and the WWE didn't care who replaced Big Show for the storyline.

screech 06-24-2013 04:20 PM

I liked the full entrances, too, but No Mercy tried to make up for that by adding post-match cutscenes for some guys. And tag teams coming out together.

I would lean more toward WM, but I love the ladder match, tables, and backstage brawling additions.

Could easily play both for hours without being bored, though.

screech 06-24-2013 04:25 PM

Was actually flipping through the manual for some more nostalgia and saw the records screen that never made the game. Kinda bummed that was scrapped.

loopydate 06-24-2013 04:25 PM

I still think WCW Revenge was my favorite of the THQ/AKI games.

screech 06-24-2013 04:30 PM

I actually didn't play Revenge until after I played both WM and No Mercy.

Not that I don't like Revenge, but I think playing it later dropped it down my list since the latter games improved on the f'n sweet engine.

screech 06-24-2013 04:44 PM

Can't beat the cartoon ref though

Yeah don't think they've ever manage to hold an iPPV that didn't crash early on or had serious lag issues. Think they either never anticipate how many people would watch their iPPV or never tested the streams in advance every time they'd go to a new building.

They are not the only ones since a few other indie companies and even a few from Japan have issues getting iPPVs to work.

Punk -- real name Phillip Brooks -- claims in legal docs filed in Illinois that he's tried to break off his relationship with his mother for more than a year "due to repeated financial demands and years of abusive, harassing and threatening behavior."

In the document, Punk says he's made an effort to help his mom -- who he claims suffers from bipolar disorder -- giving her more than $100,000. But Punk says her "abusive/threatening behavior" escalated when he cut her off.

That's when Punk's mom allegedly unleashed a torrent of nasty emails -- telling the wrestler, "You don't give a s**t about us. You just care about your money and money hungry/fame hungry friends. You would sell us for a nickel."

Punk also says his mother threatened to release potentially embarrassing information about her son's past. Punk suggests the information has to do with arrests when he was in high school.

In the docs, Punk says his mother has threatened to commit suicide on at least 4 occasions in 2012.

Punk says, "I wish for the harassment to stop and am requesting the assistance of the court in this regards."

The judge in the case granted the temporary restraining order back on June 10 -- but the wrestler is due back in court today where he will likely try to extend the protection order for several years.

ROH has had a number of perfect iPPVs. Unfortunately, that number is slim compared to the ones where they had issues.

Kind of the reason why I'd likely cut off most of my family should I ever happen to win the lottery. I'd pay off a major bill (like for my dad, I'd pay off his mortgage), and set up trust funds for my nieces and nephews (I'd be the trustee until they turn 18), but I would by and large not have anything to do with my family beyond that. Too many shitty people in my family.
