Oh and once all of the Attitude Era guys can't physically wrestle anymore, I bet Vince will figure a way to have wrestling holograms. Look for Bruno Sammartino to put over Roman.

But money talks. I half expect Austin to come back and work a match for the Saudis at this point.

I have honestly been half-expecting an Austin return too.

I have genuinely had this thought that this is the way the business will eventually go. Virtual dream matches.

So who's that little girl?

Ultra Mantis 09-29-2018 09:16 AM

That's Izzy. I've only heard all of this second hand so if anyone needs to correct it, fine, but this is her history:

Sat in front row of NXT at every taping for months dressed as Bayley, Sasha Banks made her cry, ditched that loser Bayley gear and started dressing up as Alexa Bliss because main roster Bayley is a cuck, to cash in on her role as "featured audience member" her parents got her trained by a convicted paedophile, recently had her debut match (and received a very unsafe chokeslam) against a grown man who's biggest claim to fame prior was having whipped cream eaten out of his butthole by another dude in what I can only assume was some kind of "eat my ass" match.

Typical modern WWE fan really.

When did Izzy start dressing as Alexa Bliss?

Bad News Gertner 09-29-2018 02:29 PM

Mark Henry is one of the guests at Comic Con in our city and he looks like he's lost 80-100 pounds. I've never seen him this skinny before.

Mask vs Mask match between those two would easily have generated a ton of money for whoever held it.

WWE has held one of those matches before with the Sin Cara vs Sin Cara Black feud but treated the match and big reveal as just a toss-away thing on Smackdown.

Punishment Martinez currently rumored to be heading to the WWE.

PWI reported his contract with ROH expired around the time of All In and he only agreed to do a few extra dates in order to give ROH time to work on plans regarding his TV title reign.

Isn't it funny how relative "skinny" is?

He's still a big motherfucker, and if I got up to his weight now, people would be talking about how ridiculously fat I've gotten, but Mark gets down to where he's at, and he likely has people thinking that something is wrong with him in the health department from the drastic drop.

In Mexico. No one really gives a fuck about Del Rio or really knows anything about whoever the fuck Almas was before he arrived in WWE. La Sombre? I've heard the name, but I'm a pretty hardcore fan.

I'm glad Del Rio made those tweets, because it further decreases his chances of getting re-signed. The guy has talent there, in the ring, but sometime in 2011 he became one of the most boring pushed wrestlers in WWE. I'd put him slightly behind Sheamus in that regard. His return to WWE was absolutely brutal. The feud with Kalisto and The League of Nations stuff? *shudder*

Mr. Nerfect 09-30-2018 01:24 AM

Just as a side: All this attention Izzy gets from NXT, WWE, indy guys looking to use her to get attention themselves, etc. could really fuck her up. She's been thrust a lot of profile as a kid, and that can be really damaging. I hope she turns out okay.

Anybody Thrilla 09-30-2018 04:04 AM

Macaulay Culkin turned out just fine.

Back watching Nitro in 98...

Pretty wild how acceptable it was to just throw trash in the ring at the time. That shit would never fly today.

Also, not really sure why Lex Luger was being pushed so hard during this period.

Cool King 09-30-2018 01:30 PM

It's Sunday, so yeah....

Raw:

• I totally didn't notice the date of the episode of Raw I was watching so when Raw started with the remembrance video for The British Bulldog, I was surprised by it but it also transported me way back to that date as I remember that video package so so vividly.

https://i.postimg.cc/mZ1w7dBQ/image.png

• This week on Raw, we saw Tommy Dreamer go to get his hair cut and then eat his hair, other people's hair and various hair based products.

• Raven randomly showed up to do some commentating and he just kept ripping into Lawler about his wife (The Kat) leaving him. It was great and I actually laughed as I was just caught so off-guard by it.

Lawler: What's up Raven!
Raven: Yeah, King listen, don't even greet me because you know I'm sick of coming out here every week, you and your lecherous ways, you never talk about wrestling, you never talk about what's going on in the ring, do you even know anything about wrestling any longer?

Obviously you don't know anything about women either because your wife wouldn't have left you then.

He then mentioned Lawler's wife leaving him again and he just wouldn't let it go.

• During the night, we kept seeing Austin in a bar that Eddie Guerrero was also in but I think some of it may have been edited out as there were times where references were made to moments that we never even saw.

The references were all about the songs that Guerrero and Austin were singing, so I can only guess that the part with them singing was cut out due to lyrical copyright or something like that.

I'm sure I do remember watching Austin sing at a bar though.

SmackDown:

• Triple H vs Lance Storm was a match I wasn't expecting to see. Especially kicking off SmackDown.

Watching the match, I couldn't help but think of how a match like that would have played out if it happened today.

During the match, Cole & Tazz were doing a good job of hyping Lance Storm up and making him sound good. Cole even said that if anyone could beat Triple H, it's Lance Storm. Storm got a lot of offence during the match and was actually in control for most of it. He even managed to draw blood from Triple H (even though it was an existing wound from Triple H's Hell in a Cell match) and he also managed to hit Triple H with two signature moves and his finisher. He Superkicked Triple H, applied a Single Leg Boston Crab on him and then Superkicked him again, all in succession.

These days, if someone of Triple H's standing on the roster at that time was up against someone of Lance Storm's standing, the announce team (especially Cole) would ridicule and just rip the piss out of the wrestler in Storm's position or they would just talk about something or someone that is completely irrelevant to what is going on in the ring, and as for the match, it would just be a squash match in under a minute with the wrestler in Storm's position getting absolutely no offence and just eating punches, kicks and one or two finishing moves from the wrestler in Triple H's position.

I actually enjoyed the match though, even though it was only six minutes long.

• "TriHple"

https://i.postimg.cc/7YMSNdcT/image.png

• They got there eventually.

https://i.postimg.cc/63v9hsHs/ezgif-4-8ea5151d01.gif

It just doesn't make sense to have a sign (especially one that requires multiple people) that references the same wrestler on both sides.

(The other side says "BALDY!!!" for anyone trying to decipher it)

• This was the debut of Reverend D-Von's new theme with the gospel singer.

This was also the first time that Batista was referred to as an animal (but it was a passing reference).

• Chavo Guerrero doing a really bad exaggerated Mexican accent just sounds weird.

• Hogan came out to give his retirement speech and his music was dubbed but after he had finished, his actual Jimi Hendrix theme played but strangely enough, after he fought off The Undertaker, his dubbed theme played again to close the show.

I can only assume that the guys in charge of dubbing themes for the WWE Network either forgot to dub Hogan's theme after his speech or just dubbed his theme during his entrance and skipped the video to the end of the show and dubbed his theme again, just assuming that his theme wouldn't play again during those two points.

• I'll end this post the way I always seem to end these posts, with a sign:

One of them probably thought about calling the cops for that theft of a nose.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 08:11 PM

A lot of empty seats for this NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed show going on right now.

NJPW really did a miserable job hyping up and selling this event.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 08:23 PM

It's only been one match but its already the best production work and commentary from Jim Ross out of all the NJPW US shows so far.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 08:35 PM

Frankie Kazarian & Christopher Daniels vs. Chase Owens & Hangman Page match was pretty fun.

 at NJPW actually letting ROH guys get a win over their own guys.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 08:37 PM

 at Kevin Kelly spoiling the results from last night's ROH TV tapings.

Even better was Cobb wearing a belt he technically doesn't own yet since the episode hasn't aired. Either ROH flat out didn't care or someone goofed up big time.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 08:51 PM

Another good tag match on this NJPW US show so far.

Wonder if Cobb's going to sacrifice Chuckle T after busting out the Wrath of the Gods on him ... guess not.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 09:01 PM

Apparently both Mauro Ranallo and Kairi Sane are in the crowd going by fan reports online.

Also all the empty seats pretty much filled in by now so guess either NJPW waited too long to let people in or its the old stereotype of L.A. people loving to show up late to events.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 09:09 PM

Nice of Sabre Jr and Killer Elite Squad to beat up the Young Lions in honor of their missing boss.

Wonder how much Young Lions get in hazard pay for Suzuki and/or Suzuki-gun matches.

Gedo & Knife Pervert vs Tanahashi & KUSHIDA was decent.

Well maybe not the "FU" chants part.

Now he landed on the ropes after botching the setup to whatever he was going to do to Scurll at the top rope.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 10:04 PM

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 10:05 PM

Holy shit at the Tiger Suplex from the top rope.

Ospreay vs Scurll was amazing.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 10:13 PM

:D Meng

Wonder which Young Bucks he's going to destroy tonight.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 10:22 PM

 Nick Jackson almost nailed his face on the railings from that dive to the outside.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 10:35 PM

 Guerrillas of Destiny actually won the IWGP Tag titles.

Match was good. Maybe a bit too much focus on the Matt Jackson back injury stuff but then again every Seth Rollins match has the same and tired knee injury storyline in it.

Emperor Smeat 09-30-2018 10:47 PM

Sort of want Cody to win the US belt only for the possibility of having a 2-belt champ playing different roles.

Him being a face as NWA champ and a heel as IWGP US champ.

Wonder if something like that has ever happened before.

His current deal included exceptions for NJPW and AXS TV.

Also he was only locked in for a set amount of shows per year that WWE is nowhere close to hitting so he's been getting paid to do almost nothing since last year's Mae Young Classic.

Christian didn't want to be there at all and wanted no part in the WWE/TNA deal but WWE practically forced him to go as they had already started advertising that Ric Flair was to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as part of The Four Horsemen.

"Wrestling and sports entertainment is not about the moves, it really isn't," said Undertaker. "It's about being able to evoke emotion in one facet or another. You either have to make people love you or you have to make them hate you, it doesn't really matter either way. If you can't bring that emotion out of your audience then you're not going to have them for long."

Undertaker added on how many matches in this era of wrestling cause fans to focus more on the moves than putting the wrestlers over. "What happens with these young guys is they're so athletic and so gifted, they'll do some crazy double backflip off the top rope and land on somebody on the floor and then that's what the audience takes away from it, that this guy does crazy stuff," said Undertaker. "But you can only see that so many times before you need something new, and then the person has to up that. They have to keep upping the ante and by doing that you increase your potential for injuries."

Undertaker highlighted characters such as The Rock, Ric Flair, and John Cena being people who had the ability of making people love them or hate them. Although wrestling moves should be used to further tell the story, it ultimately "boils down to the character and being able to bring either love or hate out of your crowd."

Him being a face as NWA champ and a heel as IWGP US champ.

Wonder if something like that has ever happened before.

He's also a ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champion, so he's a triple champion at the moment.

Don't you love it when big guys do meaningless flips, or have I gotten you confused with someone else?
