After months of speculation of whether or not he'd leave on September 1st, Bryan confirmed this weekend that he found that WWE actually hold an option year in his contract. The pipe dream of him working at Wrestle Kingdom or the ROH MSG show can officially be put to rest.
I mean it's all moot anyway as he's flat out said recently that he was extremely likely to re-sign for a whole host of reasons. But yeah. |

New Japan have it pretty much spot on. 90% of their regular cards are tag matches with maybe one or two singles matches at the top of the card that feel way more important because they're being properly featured. But the tags aren't a waste of time - they actually advance the story in a way that doesn't give away anything about singles match they're building to.
A perfect example from last year - they were building towards Okada defending his title against EVIL. 10 man tag, Chaos vs. LIJ. Gedo and Naito were the legal men. EVIL hits Okada with Everything Is Evil at the same time Naito hit Tranquilo on Gedo. EVIL puts his foot on Okada's chest while Naito pins Gedo for the win. So they just showed EVIL can hit his finish from OUTTA NOWHERE and leave Okada knocked out for a 3 count, but didn't have their champion actually eat a clean pin against his upcoming opponent...something WWE does regularly. |

Sasha Banks and Bayley get traded to SmackDown for Asuka because Stephanie goes over Kurt's head and wants a monster to put Ronda down. Ronda vs. Asuka for the Raw title and the Four Horsewomen in a four-way for the SmackDown one. It's not hard. Instead of blowing your load with Alexa vs. Trish, build to it, and do Trish vs. Mickie at the PPV, with Bliss talking shit about Trish at some point. Do that at Mania. Bliss and Nia can "blow-off" their issues at the PPV. The Bellas vs. The Iconics. Shayna calls out Nattie for her best friend bullshit with Ronda. Ember and Ruby Riott. You've got 7 matches right there. Do Kairi Sane vs. Io Shirai in a dream match for the NXT title, MYC Winner vs. MYC Winner. Get the rest of your babyfaces and maybe throw in some NXT girls and Toni Storm and do a multi-person tag to kick things off. Why do they always make things hard for themselves?

According to PWI, WWE has been aggressive in their targeting of Major League Wrestling trying to poach as many notable talent and backstage staff as possible.
Wale's appearance at 205 Live last night was part of those plans and likely means the end of MLW's Walemania events during Mania week. Quote:
|
Fuck they are ruthless. I get it though. Honestly think they don't have faith in their product so they're snuffing out any competition before anyone can even be 5 years away from nipping at their heels.
|
Wale doesn't mean anything to me so go ahead and take him if he wants to go. I don't understand why WWE isn't running spot shows with under card talent that they don't use on TV to keep them fresh. Also NXT has to much talent under wrap that I can't understand why they don't have he NXT main roster doing nationwide touring all the time and keep the trainee's circuit in Florida. I would even consider offering old school style contracts with a small guarantee but with the percentage of the house being the main source of income for the workers. Get that old school style of competition before you get the fat guarantee on Raw or Smackdown.
|

House shows are already the main source of income for the majority of WWE's main roster. Only exception is the Cruiser division since WWE doesn't really use them for house shows. |

Austin was a man possessed at this point, but he wasn't the hottest thing on the planet. If Hogan comes in, there is a very good chance that he is booked to win the Royal Rumble and go against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XIV. What does this do to Austin? If Austin is fucking around with HHH on the undercard or whatever, what does that to do to his mentality and his drive? Does he get pissed off at Vince? Does he want to leave the WWF? What sort of chain reaction does Hogan coming in make in WWF? There's a possibility that it makes Austin hotter. There's a possibility that Hogan getting the push revolts people who were getting behind Austin, and that Austin's sheer quality of performances switch people over from Hogan, and that by the time you get to SummerSlam '98, Hogan vs. Austin is what the world wants to see. It's possible that it somehow makes everything better. It's probably more likely that it fucks everything up for Vince. When Vince wants a guy in position, he can get very stubborn about it. He's always wanted Hulk Hogan back and in the spot. It's possible that he doesn't go anywhere near where he should with Austin, and that everything melts down. Austin might never get as hot as he did, and he might have lost the fire to be the best and actually settled as his own "what if" in wrestling's history. What if Austin gets pissed off at Michaels and Hogan taking up the spotlight? What if he goes back to WCW. What if Bischoff sees the money in Austin coming in and beating the living piss out of him every week? What if Austin brings in Jim Ross, and JR focuses all his efforts onto bringing in the next class of wrestling star to WCW, and a lot of those OVW signings -- John Cena, Randy Orton, Batista, Shelton Benjamin, Brock Lesnar -- they end up in WCW? What if Kurt Angle comes into WCW instead of the WWF? Could be one of the weirder turnarounds in wrestling history. It depends on a lot, but really, Hogan going back to the WWF in early 1998 might have changed so much about history. |

Speaking of Super Showdown. I assume tickets are on sale for this right? I've not seen any reports. Triple H said "80,000" people which is totally not going to happen. UFC drew a little over 50,000 I believe at that stadium the night Ronda lost it all. |

I don't remember hearing things about Sasha/Charlotte not getting along
|
I have conflicting emotions about both women. Alexa, who overcame her eating disorder, became a body builder and eventually made her way to NXT. The rumor mill suggests that she's fake and slept her way to success. Sasha, a lifelong fan of the business, has also overcome adversity (physical and family) to reach where she is. That being said, she has had fall outs with fellow talent with respect to her "passion" / reputation.

Sasha seems like she would be 'miserable' to be around behind the scenes tbh

Interesting.
I get being frustrated and feeling like people who don't deserve to get ahead, get ahead. It sucks. At some point though you have to not let your frustration/anger weigh you down though. That doesn't help anything. Like that old Buddhist proverb: “Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of harming another; you end up getting burned.” |
Well, if you are not angry or frustrated, Drew McIntyre is going to cut a promo on how complacent you've gotten.

I see why you guys would think Sasha is tough to be around backstage. But I see her point on Charlotte and Bliss completely. Sasha is the boss, she can out work any woman in the company and truly worked her way to the top only to be set aside for new toys. Charlotte had it made for her, the fact she is who she is, is why she is where she is. Not to take away from her talent because she is a damn good wrestler one of the best in the company, but she didn't have to dig nearly as deep as other girls who didn't have a golden last name handed to them on a championship plate. I do have to say though that being gifted the last name Flair would be a curse on about anyone else and Charlotte had to match that name and has greatly exceeded expectations. Bliss however, a cutie no doubt and has clearly worked hard as well but if I were in Sasha's shoes I would likely feel the same way. Bliss was given a main spot she didn't work for it in the same way Sasha and Bailey or even Charlotte did. When she was given the big spot on Raw I was like "whoa that's a step back". However she has stepped up big time and pulled it off much more than Carmella. However it's annoying to look at the posters and see two or three blonde women and know that look is simply what Vince and company like and that is the reason they are there. If I was in the locker room I'd be team Sasha all the way. We'd be friends, and when she was upset I'd go get her food from catering or massage her shoulders. I'd become her boyfriend eventually and try to make things okay. Because I'd care about her feelings, even though she seems to live in her own drama, it's one based off a true story.
