Hmm. Hogan and Austin actually did face each other once in their careers. Albeit in a tag match. I completely forgot about this. Should have been a more memorable moment.

Holy crap, JR is PISSED about the lack of true "heels" in the WWE today outside of Triple H

Innovator 04-14-2014 10:44 AM

Well he's right. Triple H has made it so everyone who watches the show hates him

He crapped on Bray Wyatt for playing up to the crowd. He said true "villains" bash the crowd and cheat in matches, and are cowards when confronted. He also crapped on Brock Lesnar because he wins fairly. He said "tweeners" don't draw a dime. I wanted to argue but then I realized it was Jim Ross and he's probably right but I do remember some tweeners who were either going face or heel who could draw and sell t-shirts. What do you think about "tweeners?"

Innovator, not everyone lol

The Rogerer 04-14-2014 12:14 PM

I think it's the lack of faces that are the problem. You have to care enough to not have something happen. Having the Wyatt's take apart Cena is a more entertaining prospect than seeing Cena knock them all out of the ring. You have to give us something we want to see. Hence Bryan vs Triple H.

Hanso Amore 04-14-2014 01:12 PM

Jim Ross is taking a very outdated approach.

I can't even blame him being "old school" for that. Even back in the day heels won clean all the time. There are cowardly heels who should cheat to win and there are more monster-like heels who don't cheat as much. There always has been. And it's worked. Clearly JR is on the drugs.

Vastardikai 04-15-2014 04:25 AM

As hot as Lana is, I can't get around the fact that Rusev doesn't look like a silent killer. He looks bored and indifferent. I mean, a brief glimpse of emotion would do him some good.

Why should I be afraid of a guy who looks like he went to the John Laurinitis school of facial expressions.

I think his ultimate point is that heels NEVER do anything heelish anymore. Every heel is a cool heel or a badass heel that is actually more likeable than the faces. A lot of that is due to WWE not knowing how to book an interesting babyface, but they don't book the heels in a way to help them get heat. Like we talk about all the time on here, the babyfaces are bigger dicks than the heels. I also think JR is saying that too many of the guys nowadays don't want to be true hated heels. They'd rather be that cool heel or badass heel that gets pops. FFS, when is the last time a heel low-blowed a guy when the ref wasn't looking?

Fignuts 04-15-2014 05:27 AM

I remember as a kid, I loved when a wrestler would punch Bobby Heenan. He wrote the book on being a heel manager. He would not only be over as a heel himself, he would help get over whomever he was managing. A good heel manager can be a big difference if the guy isn't a great talker. Between Flair and Triple H, how many low blows are there? 5,000? lol Triple H is being a great classic heel.

James Steele 04-17-2014 08:19 AM

He was there, just not on-camera during the PPV. He was on the pre-show though.

Shadrick 04-17-2014 08:51 AM

If he had come out during that opening segment, I would have lost my shit.

Hanso Amore 04-17-2014 09:27 AM

I was kind of hoping he would.

Like "You cant have Wrestlemania without MR Wrestlemania" - but I get why they didnt. Hes not a star on par with those 3 but I still think he could have added a bit to the segment.

Also was thinking maybe flair might pop out and be like "Oh you want to have a meeting of the biggest names without me?" but he wasnt a big part of wrestlemania history.

XL 04-17-2014 09:29 AM

Feel like he should have done something if he was in attendance. They would time for the usual Duggan and Company comedy skit.

The Fandango/Summer Rae split was actually done because she is out filming “The Marine 4,” with Miz and they needed a reason to explain her not being there. She’ll come back as a singles heel coming off her Total Divas role. Miz, who stars in the movie, will also be out while filming. Tons of people noticed her being gone after just missing Raw. Nobody will notice he’s gone. Both are scheduled back on 5/16.
