I used to listen to Keller when I was a kid on a subscriber hotline, I think it was Keller, could've been Dave or Alvarez I'm not sure I was really young like 8/9 years old. Wade Keller really comes from a hard marks perspective for me, I don't enjoy his analysis or podcasts at all, his call in episodes are cringe worthy. PWI's website looks like it wants to but fuck my computer so I don't go anywhere near it. Although I know Triple H throws him a bone sometimes, I can get his stuff translated to the TPWW main page. Which truthfully, has always been my first stop on checking the news. Then I go to F4W to see if what I just read is legit, and listen to the podcasts and read The Observer weekly.
|
Yeah PWI's website is atrocious and a text book example of why people use ad and pop up blockers. Think for a while Google threw warnings because of all the malware and adware that was going on.
Even this new computer I have has problems running multiple tabs from their site from all the shit that is being loaded or playing if I don't have blockers on. |

Not sure if Ronda is just terrible at smirking or WWE is terrible at taking good photos of Ronda for posters. Even her face for the Money in the Bank poster looked a bit off.

Yeah, there are instances like that infamous RAW that was re-written 3 entire times that day just for Vince to do yet another one himself right before they went on... but it doesn't happen to that capacity all the goddamn time, and that's mostly a WWE (Vince) trait. But there is a world of difference between "so-and-so got hurt/fired/arrested so some angle needed to be scrapped/altered out of neccessity" and "this guy didn't win a main event like I thought he would because it made sense to me on paper". It has gotten to where Meltz will use it for anything as a generic, catch-all disclaimer, which puts both of those instances on equal footing - and they're not. |
There are plenty of people who might "know" someone who can get them an occasional scoop, but the thing about those people is that they don't know how to cultivate sources and when their contact is weeded out/moves on/loses details, they don't really have anything else.
What Meltzer has is a name and a reputation. He knows people from numerous different eras, and is also a historian at this point. In the world of social media and online content, he's as much part of the industry as so many of the guys working. He's not dependent on one person in WWE creative leaking him details that happen to be correct. He's got eyes and ears well and truly entrenched by this point. Jack Campbell Peterson IV might get a great scoop from the writing buddy he went to college with, but when that writer gets fired because he scripts Alexa Bliss to say "boot-tooty" too many times in a segment and Vince gets the shits, he's useless. |
I honestly don't really listen to much Meltzer, but he doesn't back off nearly as much as people say. A lot of the time things are clearly his opinion or just backstage mumblings, because that's all those details exist as. There's a difference between saying "This is definitely the plan" and "I imagine this is where they are going." Meltz will flat-out come out and say if he's just spit-balling and speculating based on other things he does know.
He was completely right about this women's PPV thing, wasn't he? And about Roman getting this title shot? He had obviously heard those where the plans and they came true. He obviously talks to people who hear what the plans are. That they change isn't so much a crutch as it is something that happens. If things change they can't stay the same, can they? |
Quote:
As for this poster, though... yeah, they need better promo pics of Rousey. Doesn't even look like a photo, looks like someone used an airbrush tool in Photoshop on someone who vaugely looked like her in a magazine. |
Alexa Bliss is one of the three women being promoted for it. They're going to the pretty.
|
In fairness, she's also the heel champion.

I agree with Noid, we should have an all black woman PPV.

I'm reading that The Rock may be wrestling at Wrestlemania. Rock vs Roman would be the money for sure.

I'd say that Skyscrapers poor opening weekend in the US has a lot to do with this. Gotta regain that core audience.

I joked earlier this year about how WWE's goal each year seems to be to find a way to get the WM crowd to respond even more hostile towards Roman Reigns than ever before
I think Roman beating The Rock would be pretty up there on the list. |
I could see them picking up that HHH vs Rock feud they've teased a few times over the last couple of years.

Honestly, there isn't anyone other than KO whose qualified to be the top heel on RAW these days. KO is more over than Baron. Drew could be more qualified in time, after he ditches the Dolph.

Seems WWE's plans for Hogan's backstage apology backfired even more than previously thought.
Titus O'Neil released another statement about the Hogan meeting and unlike previous times, he didn't hold back on his real feelings towards Hogan's apology. Quote:
|
Not only is Hulk racist - but he may be fucking retarded.
|
and how could WWE not vet the apology?
|
Considering how much of the talent that would see through his apology is "only there to have fun," do you really think they Gave a Single Solitary Fuck if it was sincere?
|
If that's really how he opened, and kept saying it was mistake, then Hogan's lack of self awareness is on another level.
|
I dunno, guys. Maybe being upset about this insensitivity is insensitive, and isn’t constructive to the discourse?

Noid probably did some very racist things in his past and is now trying to make up for it.
|
Noid just is racist lol.
|
Hmmm possibly, he only wanted to push wrestlers like doug and danny basshem, as well as Val Venis.
Never D'Lo or Savio Vega. |
People who play the identity politics game as hard as he does are often times veiling their overt racism.
|
Noid seems like a racist with good intentions. like he would say
"Voting ID laws are racist because black people have a hard time getting an ID." Or something Asinine like that. |
Hey remember when Noid wanted to see black face on Raw?

If you care to know why I am single...
For my own amusement, I came up with a stable consisting of Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan, Kamala, Finlay, the second Max Moon, and Hillbilly Jim. And if you know the theme here, you should be able to guess who other members should be. New Day is among them. |
I miss Charlie Hass.
He was really good. |
But has Haas is now retired, I'm happy to accept Charlie Haas V2.
Or as the WWE call him, Chad Gable. He's really good too. |

Another example of good camera work.
|
On The Rock at WM 35...
I'm suspecting that it is more likely he does a Rock Concert opposite Elias ending with a Rock Bottom/Peoples Elbow than an actual match. |
Okay, that lucha house shirt is pretty cool.
|
Except for that ugly tag.
|
Yeah the In Your House inspired shirt is cool but that team is so minimal I can't really imagine why they even made it. They need to give them some TV time, Sin Cara is so damn good.
|
They could be about to give them TV time.
Tye Dillinger disappeared for months and then got a new shirt out of nowhere and a week or two later, he was having a match on SmackDown and appeared backstage the following week. |
Sure, he jobbed in that match but he was still on TV.

Reading "The death of WCW" and for some reason I had an idea for a wrestling angle I thought would be cool to see.
Has any major promotion ever done a blackmail/extortion angle where it turns out a Champ is only winning because he/she has some sort of long-standing leverage over a ref? That could work pretty well with some vignettes of the wrestler and the ref having secret meetings. Probably could get 6 months out of that. You'd probably have to teach the guy to count 3 in a not-immediately-noticeably faster time. Like 2.5 seconds. Then you could show a few vignettes of the secret meetings/suspicious activity over time and have a repeatedly screwed contender put together a tape of the fast counts to show that the champ was "a full 3 count away from being the champ". I'm rambling and I have probably just recreated some well known old angle but it sounds good in my head. |
I would enjoy that. I liked when Nick Patrick was the nWo (/Alliance) ref. It would be neat to see a ref "in the Champ's pocket."
I wonder which wrestler/ref combo could pull that off in WWE. Did you have anyone in mind? |
I haven't seen WWE in years mate. I'm just back into watching documentaries and old matches recently.
It would have to be somebody nobody would expect. Somebody over but not near the title scene so that a sneaky fast-rise would look confusingly legit and completely out of the blue. |
Never knew Noid was such a racist. What ISN'T wrong with that guy?
|
If it was done in the 2000's you'd use somebody like Eddie Guerrero. That would have been a great way for him to become champ while he was probably the best performer in the company.
|
Seems Jason Jordan is dealing with a Daniel Bryan situation right now.
PWI reported he still hasn't been medically cleared yet even though WWE only expected him to be out for a few weeks to a couple months at most. Rumor going online is that Jordan's doctors have cleared him but WWE refuses to do the same. |
Quote:
|
Almas would be a good pick for this, especially because it would add to Zelina Vega pulling off another great "business move" for him.
|
I looked him up and his hammerlock DDT looks a bit dangerous.
|
According to the WWE, the actual details of their deal with the Saudi government can not be revealed due to confidentially clauses in the contract.
Turns out WWE was a bit sloppy trying to hide it in their recent investor's report and its rumored to be in the range of $49 million per year. Basis for the number is a revenue spike in an area of WWE's financial report that WWE left vague for why it happened. |
Lol this got pointed out on a podcast that I listen to and it's so nerdy and stupid, but hilarious at the same time.
When the WWE made gave X Factor the Uncle Kracker theme, they took the first time the word "X Factor" was said and spliced it into the rest of the song because they were too cheap to have Uncle Kracker actually record it |

Re: Sasha vs. Bayley:
If they weren't going to feud, it seems weird to have them come to blows, but it seems weird to cool it down with all this other stuff. I wonder if the plan was to have them feud one week, and then it changed the next because they remembered they might want a set of Women's Tag belts? |
