I watched a few episodes. I felt like many of the girls were better than the shit gimmicks they had. Paige Webb was Serena.

Also, the announcer was shit. He made Michael Cole sound like Gordon Solie.

Blonde Moment 07-05-2015 09:06 PM

Who is Gordon Solie?

Vastardikai 07-05-2015 09:14 PM

Perhaps the Greatest Announcer ever. He could make a match with a bear sound like a legitimate sporting event.

I'll do my essay again, but I'll condense it, as I really can't be bothered typing it all up again.

I also can't really remember most of what I said.

So here we go....

I read Rammsteinmad's post from another thread and I could relate to it.

It's been 22 years of my life, but I'm really starting to think I'm done with wrestling. :( I'm so bored of the product, I skip through Raw and get through most of it in 15 minutes, same for PPV's. I just don't care for all these old timers anymore. I wanna see more of Cesaro, Ziggler, Rhodes, Barrett etc. And their pushes come and go so often I struggle to maintain interest. Fuck what a rant...

I'm pretty much the exact same as him now.

I've been going off wrestling/WWE slowly since The Royal Rumble. First I stopped watching Raw live, then it got to a point where I'd skip through it in under 15 minutes and then I began missing it completely.

During all that, I've felt like my "rose-tinted glasses" have fell off and I now see a bunch of stuff that I can "voice my dislike at".

* Why are we getting 15/20 minute promos at the beginning of Raw every week that revolve around the same three or four people?
* Why do most matches on Raw last on average around five minutes, but promos/backstage antics last around double that?
* Why is the main focus on around five people when they have a roster of around fifty-five?
* I'm not a fan of Kevin <s>Steen</s> Owens, at all.
* I can't buy into Neville.
* The Tag Team Division is actually looking great. I'm enjoying it.
* I like The Lucha Dragons. More please.
* What on earth is going on with Rusev?
* Why does nobody give a damn about Swagger?
* I want more Cesaro, Ziggler, Swagger, Barrett, Cody Rhodes and yes, Curtis Axel too.
* Rollins, Reigns, Ambrose and Wyatt have all gotten stale.
* I really think Triple H, Kane and Big Show should step aside now.
* Why is Paige a Tough Enough judge and not Natalya?
* I miss Alicia Fox's crazy days.
* I'm a supporter of the return of the Brand Split.

Done.

Ultra Mantis 07-07-2015 12:56 PM

I only tend to check out anything wrestling wise that sounds like it might be cool, so I haven't watched much this year. Fandango's face-turn and ultimate burial, New Day stuff & Cesaro being Cesaro are the only things I can recall watching recently.

Maluco 07-07-2015 01:42 PM

Brand split could go a long way to resolving some of their issues.

- Two writing teams who can concentrate on their own guys and actually give them characters/stories with depth.
- No overexposure of the same few people every week.
- Matches that feel like Mania matches without having to draft in old guys (wrestlers kept away from each other on seperate brands)
- More network shows to flesh out each brand and give time to lower card guys on the show.
- Easier passage to introduce NXT guys and give them time in the ring and a decent push without them getting crowded out.
- The opportunity for different brands to offer slightly different focuses, and cater to different focus groups/audiences.
- The potential for brand specific specials alternating monthly and supershows on the network.
- More time for longer matches (where they are already killing it right now, more please!)

So much more too. People will say it will water down their already meagre main event scene (ie Cena) but numbers are so low they have nothing to lose now. It would be a great time to get off their dependency on certain guys and let more Bryan's grow organically from two different brands.

Big Vic 07-07-2015 04:20 PM

Cutting Smackdown/Raw down by an hour each will be even better.

Cool King 07-07-2015 04:23 PM

Last time I watched SmackDown, which was well over a year ago now, only around 30 minutes of it was "new stuff".

The other 90 minutes were just recaps of Raw and advertisements.

Big Vic 07-07-2015 04:34 PM

Last time I watched a full episode of smackdown Bobby Lashley was on it.... Last time I watched a piece of Smackdown Daniel Bryan and Triple H were doing the "Yes" chant in Vince's face.

Emperor Smeat 07-07-2015 05:00 PM

On paper bringing back the brand split could help but the WWE would need to rebuild their midcard first and make sure they don't do the same mistakes like with the original split.

Right now they lack the star power to split the roster while Creative has been horrible at focusing on more than 1-2 feuds at any time. The past couple of months its basically been the Cena US Open feuds that got the most attention and the WWE title feuds being a bit behind.

Smackdown might benefit for a while like the first time but wouldn't be surprised if it went right back to what it is now or became the feeder show for RAW again.

The midcard would grow and develop though with focus on all the talent they have and feuds that actually mean something

They lack the star power anyway, so splitting it won't make any difference. Put Cena on Raw and Orton on SD and the divide the others. You have Lesnar, Ryback, Sheamus, Big Show, Ziggler, Kane, Cesaro, Ambrose, Reigns, Rollins, Cena, Orton, Rusev, Owens, Wyatt. And can elevate people like Miz, Harper, Barrett, Neville, Zayn, Joe, Balor etc... More than enough for two brands, and let's be honest, noone makes a difference to the ratings pointer at the moment anyway. Giving them proper feuds, pushes and stories might get people interested and, potentially, invested in their characters and it's surely worth a shot.

They have proven time and time again that they can't concentrate on more than a few guys at once. Either they are lazy or overwhelmed. The brand split would help them have less guys to focus on and hopefully enable them to look at and concentrate on some long term storylines

TNA declined to send the former Dudley Boyz as they were needed for an angle on Impact Wrestling with the Nasty Boys. Since it was a situation involving New Japan's champions, it turned the promotion off on working with TNA going further. The other big issue was the usage of Kazuchika Okada as the Green Hornet knockoff, which New Japan hated.

"It was my decision. The way my contract was structured, without getting too detailed, they couldn't release me. There was something in there that prevented that, which was nice," Magnus told me.

Magnus also said that he had started to make the decision roughly a year ago. Despite being one of the higher paid talents on the roster, he felt as if his time in TNA was drawing to a close. He gave his notice at the beginning of June, but said he was more than happy to finish up at Slammiversary.
From an interview Magnus had with WrestlingInc recently. Implied TNA only has enough money remaining to pay wrestlers for taping appearances and can't afford giving out actual contracts anymore. http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/...-he-decided-to

WWE announcers can no long use the term "backbreaker" on WWE television, according to Dave Meltzer. Apparently Vince McMahon doesn't like the term, which is why it wasn't called that when Sheamus used his Irish Curse Backbreaker maneuver during Monday's episode of RAW.

Reason for the ban is unknown, but Vince does this from time to time with different terms.
Supposedly the Observer didn't actually say a ban was in place but thinks its very likely one might be since the announcers have suddenly stopped using the term for Sheamus' move.

Steve Austin talked on his newest podcast the recent rumours about him getting Roddy Piper fired from Podcast One.

"It's water under the bridge. I didn't like the podcast, it had some business of a personal nature that I didn't care to have floating out there, being downloaded in cyberspace. So I had it removed from rotation when I did... I went down my road and Roddy went down the road he did and kept podcasting. Now I get blamed for his departure when it couldn't be further from the truth"

He then went on to say he phoned the president of Podcast One who said that Roddy had requested a meeting with the president and claimed he was no longer interested in doing a podcast with them.
