I watched a few episodes. I felt like many of the girls were better than the shit gimmicks they had. Paige Webb was Serena.
Also, the announcer was shit. He made Michael Cole sound like Gordon Solie. |
Who is Gordon Solie?
|
Perhaps the Greatest Announcer ever. He could make a match with a bear sound like a legitimate sporting event.

Thats my goal too

Just spent a few hours typing up my recent thoughts on the WWE, only to post it and get an error message saying something about a token being invalid.
I won't lie, I'm a bit pissed. |

I'll do my essay again, but I'll condense it, as I really can't be bothered typing it all up again.
I also can't really remember most of what I said. So here we go.... I read Rammsteinmad's post from another thread and I could relate to it. Quote:
I've been going off wrestling/WWE slowly since The Royal Rumble. First I stopped watching Raw live, then it got to a point where I'd skip through it in under 15 minutes and then I began missing it completely. During all that, I've felt like my "rose-tinted glasses" have fell off and I now see a bunch of stuff that I can "voice my dislike at". * Why are we getting 15/20 minute promos at the beginning of Raw every week that revolve around the same three or four people? * Why do most matches on Raw last on average around five minutes, but promos/backstage antics last around double that? * Why is the main focus on around five people when they have a roster of around fifty-five? * I'm not a fan of Kevin <s>Steen</s> Owens, at all. * I can't buy into Neville. * The Tag Team Division is actually looking great. I'm enjoying it. * I like The Lucha Dragons. More please. * What on earth is going on with Rusev? * Why does nobody give a damn about Swagger? * I want more Cesaro, Ziggler, Swagger, Barrett, Cody Rhodes and yes, Curtis Axel too. * Rollins, Reigns, Ambrose and Wyatt have all gotten stale. * I really think Triple H, Kane and Big Show should step aside now. * Why is Paige a Tough Enough judge and not Natalya? * I miss Alicia Fox's crazy days. * I'm a supporter of the return of the Brand Split. Done. |
I only tend to check out anything wrestling wise that sounds like it might be cool, so I haven't watched much this year. Fandango's face-turn and ultimate burial, New Day stuff & Cesaro being Cesaro are the only things I can recall watching recently.

Brand split could go a long way to resolving some of their issues.
- Two writing teams who can concentrate on their own guys and actually give them characters/stories with depth. - No overexposure of the same few people every week. - Matches that feel like Mania matches without having to draft in old guys (wrestlers kept away from each other on seperate brands) - More network shows to flesh out each brand and give time to lower card guys on the show. - Easier passage to introduce NXT guys and give them time in the ring and a decent push without them getting crowded out. - The opportunity for different brands to offer slightly different focuses, and cater to different focus groups/audiences. - The potential for brand specific specials alternating monthly and supershows on the network. - More time for longer matches (where they are already killing it right now, more please!) So much more too. People will say it will water down their already meagre main event scene (ie Cena) but numbers are so low they have nothing to lose now. It would be a great time to get off their dependency on certain guys and let more Bryan's grow organically from two different brands. |
Cutting Smackdown/Raw down by an hour each will be even better.
|
Last time I watched SmackDown, which was well over a year ago now, only around 30 minutes of it was "new stuff".
The other 90 minutes were just recaps of Raw and advertisements. |
Last time I watched a full episode of smackdown Bobby Lashley was on it.... Last time I watched a piece of Smackdown Daniel Bryan and Triple H were doing the "Yes" chant in Vince's face.
|
On paper bringing back the brand split could help but the WWE would need to rebuild their midcard first and make sure they don't do the same mistakes like with the original split.
Right now they lack the star power to split the roster while Creative has been horrible at focusing on more than 1-2 feuds at any time. The past couple of months its basically been the Cena US Open feuds that got the most attention and the WWE title feuds being a bit behind. Smackdown might benefit for a while like the first time but wouldn't be surprised if it went right back to what it is now or became the feeder show for RAW again. |
Quote:
They lack the star power anyway, so splitting it won't make any difference. Put Cena on Raw and Orton on SD and the divide the others. You have Lesnar, Ryback, Sheamus, Big Show, Ziggler, Kane, Cesaro, Ambrose, Reigns, Rollins, Cena, Orton, Rusev, Owens, Wyatt. And can elevate people like Miz, Harper, Barrett, Neville, Zayn, Joe, Balor etc... More than enough for two brands, and let's be honest, noone makes a difference to the ratings pointer at the moment anyway. Giving them proper feuds, pushes and stories might get people interested and, potentially, invested in their characters and it's surely worth a shot. |
so piper has heat with vince and stone cold again, best heel ever. well we have a story for a stone cold at mainia 32.
|
the thing that would 'save' WWE is if they stop booking week to week.

They have proven time and time again that they can't concentrate on more than a few guys at once. Either they are lazy or overwhelmed. The brand split would help them have less guys to focus on and hopefully enable them to look at and concentrate on some long term storylines |

Validity of this is currently in question, but it's depressingly plausible.
Supposedly announcer instructions/coachingn/notes from a few years ago: <blockquote class="imgur-embed-pub" lang="en" data-id="a/NW1WG"><a href="//imgur.com/a/NW1WG">The reason why WWE commentary is so bad...HERE ARE OFFICIAL NOTES/RULES FOR COMMENTATORS STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSES MOUTH...yeah buddy</a></blockquote><script async src="//s.imgur.com/min/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
