Mr. Nerfect 06-15-2018 09:16 AM

Entering into a multi-year deal with that piece of shit regime could be such a shitstorm for them. I'm sure they worked in a little detail where if they execute women for driving or the world decides that they need to impose sanctions they can break the deal, but still.

Jordan 06-15-2018 09:29 AM

I hope they just give the money back now that they have the Fox deal. I don't want another Saudi Show, that was fucking weird and now there are too many threats against doing another.

Jordan 06-15-2018 10:05 AM

If you haven't seen it yet you should know that OMEGA VS OKADA FROM DOMINION WAS THE GREATEST MATCH EVER.

Simple Fan 06-15-2018 10:22 AM

I'd love to see another Saudi show especially if its the Greatest Survivor Series or something like that. Big elimination match. I thought the Greatest Royal Rumble was good, meaningless but still a good show. Plus there a no women on the card in Saudi.

Jordan 06-15-2018 10:41 AM

Anyone know if WWE has taken a look at WALTER? Dude the the man, reminds me of Joe.

Jordan 06-15-2018 10:42 AM

Actually he should skip WWE and try and get a main spot with NJPW.

slik 06-15-2018 10:52 AM

They signed him a few months ago IIRC

Graves seems like more of a colour commentator to me like JBL

Mr. Nerfect 06-16-2018 06:58 PM

When SmackDown goes to Fox, I'm thinking Cole swaps for Phillips (well, this would probably happen in the draft earlier in the year). Cole gets to work 2 hours on SmackDown, which is both a reduced schedule and a promotion, in a weird way. Phillips becomes the "Raw guy," which is both a promotion but harder work.

I wish WWE would get serious about their commentary, but I'd be surprised if much changes as far as their philosophy goes. Cole, Coachman and Graves on SmackDown and Phillips, Saxton and McGuinness on Raw makes sense. I've just taken Graves out because I can see them not wanting to rely on Graves so much going forward.

I really wish they would give Mark Henry a trial as a commentator. He "ticks the boxes" of being a black man, which they insist is in there for some reason. He was actually a wrestler on the main roster for a while and is more a color guy in line with those that actually have cred. I remember him doing a guest spot on a Raw or something and he knocked it out of the park.

Isn't there an NXT event tonight? No thread. Has the hype died down?

Mr. Nerfect 06-16-2018 08:27 PM

The last Takeover I watched was War Games. I thought it was "good." Velveteen Dream was fucking incredible, lol. I'm keen to see how he goes against Ricochet, but I can probably DailyMotion it. Also, I'm very pessimistic about how the WWE is going to fuck him up and have him in a "weird feud" with Goldust or R-Truth and lose all his matches because he's over anyway.

#1-norm-fan 06-16-2018 08:28 PM

Was that the match with Aleister Black where he was trying to get him to say his name? If so then yeah, that was pretty brilliant.

Mr. Nerfect 06-16-2018 08:35 PM

Yeah, that's the one. The whole story of that was fucking ace. Even the way it kind of got ahead of those annoying fans as Black said his name. Black looked cool as fuck in it too -- like a no-nonsense dude who just likes to fight, win matches, eat steak and fuck.

wtf is going on there lmao

Mr. Nerfect 06-17-2018 01:51 AM

I've got no real clue who is going to win either Money in the Bank briefcase tomorrow. I haven't been following nearly closely enough. Is anyone standing out as the real clear favorite? Who is rumored to be getting it? The scuttlebutt last year was out about Baron Corbin getting the push.

Just in terms of how WWE thinks, Alexa Bliss and The Miz feel like solid enough picks. Bliss would use the briefcase to jump over to SmackDown when Charlotte wins the Royal Rumble to come over to Raw. Or something. A lot of people seem to think Nattie, but I think she just turns on Ronda with no cash in.

I can see them putting the WWE Title on The Miz just so Bryan can win it off him. I don't really want to see The Miz anywhere near the WWE Title again, but it seems about as likely as anything else. Samoa Joe getting it would be pretty cool, and the gimmick seems to suit Owens, but I think they'll go with Miz. Nothing would surprise me though.

Lock Jaw 06-17-2018 01:56 AM

I think Samoa Joe "obviously" winning the men's match.

No idea about the women

#1-norm-fan 06-17-2018 02:04 AM

I love Joe and this is what I want to happen, which is why I just cannot predict it, haha. I think Vince likes Joe, but I kind of feel like he is there to fluff about and make others look good as a gatekeeper sort.

It wouldn't shock me if there are plans to do something with Big E. But I think him being in the match is going to just be "enough." But then again, I can talk myself out of every single person in the match, and I guess someone has to win.

Mr. Nerfect 06-17-2018 02:31 AM

Have a weird feeling about Ember Moon. Intellectually, I feel like she is just in the match for some exposure and to remind people they called her up, but it's more of a gut feeling about her.

Mr. Nerfect 06-17-2018 02:57 AM

I've liked the idea of Sheamus & Cesaro joining Nakamura as a sort of heel unit. But really anyone could join up with Shinsuke. Would you put it past Vince to have Lars Sullivan help Nakamura walk out of Chicago as WWE Champion because he thinks it would be funny to hear Nakamura try and pronounce his name?

WWE has a tendency to want to go with shock over logic in multi-man matches whenever possible. It's usually logical to have the real main eventer for WrestleMania win the Rumble but since it doesn't effect their plans at all, they always go with the more "shocking" winner.

It's logical not to give Zack Ryder a sudden title reign just to take it off of him immediately and return him to jobber status. But it happened for shock purposes.

I can seriously see New Day winning the MITB just for the surprise. They've got a year to figure out where they wanna go with it and it's a cheap way to "freshen up" a stale act.

#1-norm-fan 06-17-2018 11:39 AM

In fact, I can see them never actually picking one member for the match, all three of them grabbing the case at the same time and sharing it where any one of them can cash in. Then if they win the Smackdown title, they Freebird rule it.

Droford 06-17-2018 12:03 PM

I can see Sanity finally debuting to give Naks the match. Not so much in a joining with him way, but in a targeting Styles way.

Savio 06-17-2018 06:02 PM

Hope Big E wins.

#1-norm-fan 06-17-2018 07:04 PM

Seriously. If I could put money on this match... I wouldn't. Because betting on wrestling is stupid.

But I have a weird feeling about New Day. It's the one that would get people talking short-term most and if WWE doesn't have a specific plan that requires someone having the MITB case, then throwing it on the one that will make people say "What the fuck..." seems like the WWE thing to do.

#1-norm-fan 06-17-2018 07:06 PM

Also a random Big E main event push would be kind a breath of fresh air. If Jinder fucking Mahal could get one out of the blue, why not Big E. It's only Smackdown. Fuck it.

#1-norm-fan 06-17-2018 08:43 PM

Bad News Gertner 06-17-2018 09:19 PM

Not really. I don't think I watched any WCW until 98 and I had been watching the WWF since 87. I had no idea who Ric Flair even was when he came to the WWF in like late 91. I go back and watch matches but never full shows.

The thing about predicting WWE nowadays is that it's futile because very little needs to make sense, but even more to their detriment, perhaps, is that nothing matters. If Kofi Kingston had won Money in the Bank, would it have done anything to hurt the gimmick anymore? Does it matter that Ronda wins by DQ on PPV and has to sell for a fitness model with only slightly more experience? Not really.

Nothing's special, so literally anyone could have won.

Styles vs. Joe, Bryan vs. Nakamura, New Day vs. Sanity and Harper & Rowan vs. Rusev Day at Extreme Rules are all interesting possibilities. SmackDown has this tendency to position everyone wrong though.

SlickyTrickyDamon 06-19-2018 12:46 AM

Are they waiting for Nikki Cross to debut Sanity or some shit?

Mr. Nerfect 06-19-2018 12:50 AM

They could have always had her come up later. They just don't know what they're doing. They probably wanted to have them go against New Day from the start, but then decided they wanted to use New Day heading into Money in the Bank as the token black guys to promote as being in there. But now that Vince has decided he wants to push Big E, they could be put to the backburner for a while yet or debut on 205 Live, Raw or Main Event. How wacky? Look at how wacky they are.

Booker T. (Technically three companies, if you count the back cover of one of the WCW games)

Also, while researching to make sure I was correct about that, I don't believe I didn't realize Big Show counts as well. Should have been a gimmie, but I didn't even think about it.
