Stevie Night Heat was amazing

Bad News Gertner 05-20-2018 11:17 AM

Raven just paid some dude $500 to eat a sandwich that he stepped on. The guy did it and then Raven hit him in the head with a shoe and broke his finger. Tremendous.

Al Snow and Maven vs Chris Nowinski and D Lo Brown. Good God lol.

Bad News Gertner 05-20-2018 11:20 AM

Fun fact: Al Snow trained all three wrestlers in this match.

Bad News Gertner 05-20-2018 11:24 AM

Wow that was a mess lol. Brown and Nowinski win.

Somehow this is my most vivid memory of WWF Raven lol

Cool King 05-20-2018 11:56 AM

I loved Raven in the WWF.

I had heard of him during his time in WCW but I never really paid any attention to WCW back in the day, as back then I was a massive WWF fan and I disliked WCW simply because they were "the competition". You know what kids are like.

To me as a kid, Raven had a really cool look about him and his music was always great.

I always enjoyed his matches, especially his Hardcore Matches as they always seemed to be really entertaining and more unpredictable than the Hardcore Matches without him. Especially when he started bringing a shopping trolley full of stuff with him to the ring.

Yeah. Shame it ended abruptly because Steph or someone else was furious at his GM angle that was going on. Instead of embracing it and adding their own twist to the storyline, WWE pretty much pulled the plug and put Stevie in the doghouse.

Only reason it lasted for a long time was due to management barely caring about Heat.

I just saw a video about Rhodes v Aldis at ALL IN. What stuck out to me the most? Me questioning why Billy Corgan looks like Belloq in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Is the NWA title going to land in a fire and he tries to pick it up only to burn the image in his palm? Is he going to aid a bunch of Nazis to find The Ark of the Covenant and use it as a secondary title just so long as nobody opens it?

Just because his name is Reeves? Dummy? Yeah....

Pretty much. If I remember correctly, nobody in WWE's management really cared about the show nor had any real desire to add extra hours to their work week for a low tier show which allowed it to be more hands-off.

Stevie Richards got busted by pure chance since Steph or someone else randomly decided to check up on Heat one week and got pissed Richards was doing the GM stuff without their knowledge. Think the main reason was it messed up their canon for GMs and made them look like fools for forgetting about Heat.

Probably got even more pissed that Richards managed to create something successful without needing any of WWE's help.

Emperor Smeat 05-21-2018 04:50 PM

Apparently Big Cass might have suffered a legit knee injury over the weekend after faking having one during the week.

Conflicting reports with the Observer stating Cass is only selling being injured while PWI is stating he actually hurt himself. Only thing confirmed is he got pulled from this week's Smackdown MitB Qualifier match and instead this week will be a pre-qualifier to find out who faces Samoa Joe in the actual qualifier next week.

Emperor Smeat 05-21-2018 06:16 PM

According to Matt Cappotelli's wife, he is at the end of his life and currently expected to pass away any day now.

His health in general has been declining the past several months and his cancer has the stage where medical treatment can no longer help.

 at the Cena-Nikki relationship drama led to the lowest ever viewed episode in Total Bellas history.

Both of them and E! struck out big time with this for the show. They really overestimated the amount of interest people actually have for the couple and for this breakup angle.

That means the hype, whether you believe it was real or worked, surrounding the John Cena-Nikki Bella relationship split, the cancellation of their wedding and their apparent reconciliation, as well as the attention devoted to it on The Today Show, Extra and other outlets, meant nothing in terms of hooking an audience that would be larger than usual.

In fact, it was not only the least watched premiere live, but it was the lowest watched episode ever for the Total Divas-spinoff.

Those reality shows do really well within a certain timeframe, but they don't have the enduring ability to really hook people. The "Total" bandwagon is not going to stay steady forever.

I don't listen to his show so I wouldn't know. He was on Busted Open last week I enjoyed his segment.

Either its not as flashy as a big finisher now or usually looks terrible when its not Luger doing it. Guess its also possible to injure yourself doing it as in Nikki Bella's case.

Droford 05-23-2018 09:55 PM

Braun should use it instead of the running powerslam which has to be the weakest finisher currently

Thinking about streaming a 100 man, Monday Night War Royal Rumble with Fire Pro.

Have never streamed before, and don't really know anything about it. Dunno how good the stream would be given my computer is pretty basic. Not even a gaming laptop, though it is good enough to play some relatively graphic intensive games like Street Fighter x Tekken and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Haven't tried newer games but they probably don't run well, if at all.

That was awesome, shitty commentary though. Funny how you think of old wrestling as slow and methodical but it seems like this match is based more off high spots and they move faster than guys in PWG. Those slams looked tough as hell too, strong hard ring obviously. Those pildedrivers looked so legit.

Bad News Gertner 05-24-2018 08:39 AM

Some of the stuff from that era is actually pretty good. It holds up better than alot of 70's WWWF

I listened to this last night and didn't catch that. Thanks, Gerty. I've been meaning to submit a question for a while now, but I just don't know what I want to know about Doug Basham.

I disagree with this. He usually covers it and then segues into more, or at least comes back to it. And that's half the fun.

Mr. Nerfect 05-24-2018 09:39 AM

Actually, an amendment to that: there is one that I just remembered that did frustrate me, because I really wanted to know the answer, but Corny actually did kind of back away from this one.

It was about The Undertaker and why he is so respected. By the time you get to 1998, he's embedded in the company as this locker-room leader and presence that everybody already spoke about like he was a legend. But that's only 7 years with the company. Kofi Kingston is in year 11. Dolph Ziggler poked his head up there first in 2005 -- 13 years ago. The Miz in 2004 -- 14 years ago.

Anyway, Corny's answer was basically "Because he's the fucking Undertaker," which I found to be a really inspecific and weird deflection of the question. But actually, I suppose that does speak to the presence the guy probably carries himself with, which is why people probably treat him differently to, say, Erick Rowan, who is already over half-way to that tenure too.

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-24-2018 09:49 AM

lol

I'm not saying it's a bad thing that he does that. People usually ask him specific questions that few would have the answer for. It usually leads to a history lesson and even an understanding of how to market and run ANY business, not just the wrestling business.

Yeah, I think that actually kinda answers the question. It has less to do with tenure and more to do with the fact that... he's the fucking Undertaker. He comes off like a guy who commands respect. Most of the guys today, including the ones you mentioned, come off like guys who command video game tournaments before the show.

Not surprising! '70S WWWF didn't seem to be heavy on classic matches.

None of those guys come close to being the attraction Taker is.

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-24-2018 12:09 PM

Yeah Mean Mark just be like "YOU WILL RESPECT ME" and comes down with the old school off the top rope if anyone questions otherwise.

Like try telling that guy he's not a draw. See how it goes.

He said his shoot name. Not Gertner.

WWE's T-shirts have never really been the best when it comes to designs but I really have noticed a sharp decline in the quality of their designs these past few years.

Maybe Big E should use it when he starts his singles run.

It'll be much better than "The Big Ending" anyway.

According to the Observer, WWE found a new target to go after and be the basis for another signing spree. This time its Major League Wrestling and all due to them getting a tv deal recently.

They’ll still get word indirectly to tell people not to renew their deals like they did with ROH (and there were guys in ROH based on promises made and such while under contract that one would think was tampering, and that’s what led to the legal situation last year where WWE had to pull all offers from ROH talent and waited months after their contracts expired before approaching them again, although in the end the guys like Kyle O’Reilly, Adam Cole and Bobby Fish all came. The MLW deals signed with its key talent were for multiple years. A key may have been MJF signing with MLW
