It counts to them. Brock Lesnar's belt is the main belt because it is on Raw. Paul Heyman will say that Brock is the greatest champion of the modern era or whatever. Commentators will agree. Roman Reigns already counts himself as a former three-time Universal Champion. It's an interchangeable term, like "World Title" and "WWE Title" were interchangebable. John Cena is a 13-time WWE Champion. But they say 16 because of the three World Titles. If he wins the Universal Title for #17, they will call him a 17-time Universal Champion.

Brock Lesnar has defended the Universal Title 10 times including house shows. He also beat AJ Styles to ensure his belt is seen as the most dominant, which should kayfabe count as something, but whatever. Kazuchika Okada has defended the IWGP Heavyweight Championship 12 times over a 694+ day period of being champion. That averages out to a defense once every 58 days or so. Brock Lesnar has been champion for 407+ days, and defended the belt every 41 days or so. Even if you take his 7 aired defenses, that makes for an average of 58 days, putting him right in league with Okada, assuming all Okada's defenses are aired.

Mr. Nerfect 05-15-2018 06:20 PM

Point is: Brock Lesnar is more of a fighting champ than Kazuchika Okada.

Sting,Goldberg and the flipping Mexicans was the only good things.

#1-norm-fan 05-15-2018 08:14 PM

It's still funny to me that Heyman said back before Lesnar beat Cena for the title at SummerSlam that Lesnar never cared to go after a title until they were unified because he was only interested in being THE man. Pretty much acknowledging that having two world titles makes them both mean shit. And now he's the WWE UNIVERSAL champion. lol

Mr. Nerfect 05-15-2018 08:52 PM

He'd also never compete in a Royal Rumble, because Brock is above gambling for a title shot. Cue 2016 and 2017 Rumble. Heyman is clearly not "sympatico" with the WWE's writing. You can see the change in verbiage when he goes from declaring Cesaro the next World Heavyweight Champion or something to "the next top tier player" to "Brooooock Leeessssnar!"

Mr. Nerfect 05-15-2018 08:55 PM

To be fair, Brock is the dominant champion in WWE now, and they all but acknowledge that the WWE Title is the B-belt.

I really wish they would unify the belts at SummerSlam and just be done with it. Brock vs. AJ for the WWE Title. AJ can be the working champ that appears on both shows and feels like a big deal. You've got Braun with his Fuck the World Championship belt and Seth Rollins and Jeff Hardy are currently your IC and US Champions, and they both have names and pedigrees.

Vince's particulars are getting in the way. He wants a World Champion on each show, but as a result, he has no World Champion and therefore the point of having these champions to draw is completely ass-backwards.

To be fair a bit, NJPW runs way fewer shows and Okada still shows up a lot more than Lesnar even if its not title matches. Okada would probably fall apart after a couple months if he kept the puro style and had to work Punk's insane schedule as champ.

Similar to Taker's streak, WWE pretty much lucked into Lesnar being this close to breaking Punk's record. Probably a big reason why its lasted soo long because WWE wasn't aware or they would have made it obvious his lengthy reign was out of petty reasons.

Mr. Nerfect 05-15-2018 09:59 PM

He doesn't defend the belt more than Lesnar though. The only people who are really bothered by Brock not being on every show, are the suckers who still watch week-to-week. There's an inherent paradox in that.

Mr. Nerfect 05-15-2018 11:48 PM

I just did a thought experiment where I asked "What if the WWE cut all the 205 Live talent and everyone that appeared in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal?" You'd be surprised how few people you would actually miss. It would streamline the product so much.

I know that's not the name of the game they are playing at the moment, but you could probably save a few million per year by doing that.

I've heard that there are tons of Juvi stories out there about his time in WWE.

Like how he was so delusional that he thought he was on the same level as The Rock, and would refer to himself in the 3rd person backstage.

Or how Psicosis and Super Crazy wanted to be separated from Juvi because they didn't want to be associated with his nonsense and inevitable heat.

Seth Rollins is great in the ring, but doesn't have that star personality, and shines when he's not put in that position. The match would be great, don't get me wrong, but I think it would need to be lower on the card than the main event.

I'd love to see it as an IC Title match though. Or maybe Styles wins the US belt and it's a unification match and we can end this goddamn brand split?

I didn’t suggest it as the Main Event. You were talking about the card in general, I suggested a match I’d like to see.

Hearing Bob Holly in shoots always amazes me. For some reason I don’t expect him to have as much “personality.” There’s more Big Shot in him than Hardcore.

A potential legal bombshell could be on its way and cause huge headaches for the WWE.

They are not the one involved in the lawsuit but it does target the legal status of an "independent contractor" when used by companies who don't allow all the legal rights associated with independent contractors and purposely avoid following all labor laws and regulations associated with employees.

In the past, whenever someone seriously threatened to challenge this in court in regards to the no compete clause, WWE caved in every time to their demands.

If I remember correctly, WWE flirted with a union forming in the 80s or early 90s till Hogan snitched and managed to derail the whole process.

Quote:

What could be a major game changer story for UFC, and inevitably if it is in UFC, will be with WWE, is that Leslie Smith’s filing of a complaint to the National Labor Relations Board may also include a ruling as to whether UFC fighters are employees or independent contractors.

The board, as part of its ruling on her complaint, would have to make a determination which category fighters fit into. The NLRB can’t go to bat or rule in cases involving independent contractors. Smith is claiming that UFC violated federal law that protects employees who engage in union activities by the nature of releasing her.

UFC used a sleight of hand as they never released her, as her contract expired and they opted not to sign her to a new contract even though she’s won her past two fights and her third fight saw her opponent miss weight and she didn’t fight. She was also ranked No. 9 in her weight class at the time they opted to not offer her a new deal and she was known for having exciting fights.

It’s not a secret why she was let go. But the NLRB can’t rule on it if she’s an independent contractor, meaning that ruling will be sped up.

If that ruling comes down that fighters are employees, that will almost inevitably carry over to WWE, which has far more control over its performances and over careers than UFC does

Hmmm that makes sense... I saw that PPV.

Trying to find audio of it but I only found the spanish version and they don't say that.... They do call the Funnel Cake powder sugar "cocaine" though after AL snow hits Holly with it.

Watching NXT from this week. I'm a big Lars Sullivan fan. He's a "traditional heel," as weird as that seems. He's not trying to be cool or anything - he's just beating people up. It's great.

screech 05-18-2018 05:43 PM

Also I'm in love with Cathy Kelley

Jordan 05-18-2018 07:32 PM

Cool theme for Mauro.

I haven't been watching NXT. Good for Mauro to get a theme, but is it weird for me to ask why? I guess JR used Boomer Sooner and all that, but is Mauro going to be making an entrance anytime soon?

No, I'm wondering why also.

Mr. Nerfect 05-19-2018 03:07 AM

I just watched the SmackDown clip of Bryan destroying Cass. Holy shit, Cass is ATROCIOUS. I never used to have it in for him or anything, and quite liked some of his mic work in NXT, but here he was just awful. A weird inflection, weird delivery, a terrible script doesn't help, stumbling over lines, clearly nervous -- you can sense when he decides "it's time to perform this thing I rehearsed to try and look like I'm good on the mic." Goddamn, I don't want enough WWE to be conditioned for this shit, haha.

He did a decent job selling Bryan's attack on the leg, but everything else was pure dog turd.

screech 05-19-2018 07:38 AM

His turn wasn't bad, but the ensuing feud with Enzo/Big Show was awful. I think he's been garbage on his own, really. He needs someone with him to hide how uncomfortable he is/seems.

So for some reason I'm a glutton for punishment, can't get over my WCW nostalgia, event when it's shit. However the one thing that I hate the very most about the end of WCW is simply Mark fucking Madden. He is so horrible, every chance he get's he's ripping of Joey styles or making an allusion to something that happened in WWF or ECW. He was the worst.

Not all that surprising given the look of his torso.

Swagger looks like he was fully engaged in a feast at catering before being suddenly told on the spot to go out and do some rasslin.

He should never wear trunks.

Swagger wrestling in anything but a singlet just looks wrong.

Cool King 05-20-2018 09:56 AM

That was also during the time the WWE were trying to push "WWE FanNation" as a term for their fans before going with "WWE Universe".

Cool King 05-20-2018 09:57 AM

Imagine if "WWE FanNation" stuck.

I don't think a "WWE FanNational Championship" would have even lasted a day.

Bad News Gertner 05-20-2018 10:49 AM

My gf went to her mom's for a few hours so I decided to look around on youtube for some stuff to watch, and I came across 20 WWE Heat shows from 2002 where it's only wrestling, no recap shit. I spent the entire time she was gone as well as all morning smoking weed and watching these videos.

I'm a very productive person.

Stacey Keibler and Test. Testicles lol. Stacey looking anorexic by the way. Currently dancing in the ring. So hott. Interupted by Justin Credible Haha.

Bad News Gertner 05-20-2018 10:55 AM

Test wins with his bad ass Big Boot.

Steven Richards vs Johnny the Bull Stamboli. Lol its so bad but I can't stop watching

Evil Vito 05-20-2018 11:00 AM

I would say that roughly 75% of my fantasies in 2002 involved Stacy Keibler or Trish Stratus.....very often both :naughty:
