Watching NXT, I don't like how they down the lights on the crowd for matches. EC3 doesn't seem like as big of a deal on NXT as he did in Impact either. Usually only watch Takeovers but the addition of EC3 and Adam Cole has led me to watch more recently. Dint get what they are trying with the Dakota chick, seems like another Bayley type.

Also War Raiders is a dumb name. Hanson & Rowe would have done just fine if they couldn't use War Machine.

Sounds too similar to Harper & Rowan which would probably be WWE's excuse.

Probably a safe bet Lita is going to get the blacklist treatment by the WWE soon. She publicly called out the WWE for being hypocrites and liars relating to their PR claims involving the Women's Revolution and the Saudi show.

According to PWInsider, New Day's time as a group might be numbered. Supposedly WWE has plans for Big E to get a big singles push soon.

Both Woods and Kingston have been public before about when they are ready to disband, they want Big E to get a big push. Same for Kingston hinting he wants to retire once the group is done.

Shadrick 05-10-2018 09:53 PM

Feminist views are actually pretty spot on and logical when you're not dealing with feminists who are zealots and do their best to go out of their way to be sensible. I'm a feminist myself (and a lot of people are when they find out the true definition of it) but I often cringe hard when I hear someone who calls themself a feminist say some goofy shit like "WHY AREN'T THERE WOMEN IN THE NBA? The principles of feminism are sound. Unfortunately, the zealotry makes it completely unappealing in every which way.

If "allies" dare dissent on an opinion they are considered enemies and shunned as anti-woman which is rarely the case. Therefore, feminism is not for me. Heaven forbid, for instance, you bring up a different argument about the gender pay gap. Not everything is so cut and dry that THERE IS ONLY ONE RIGHT OPINION.

But treating women with the same respect I do men isn't that difficult for me and there's no need to virtue signal about it. Though I'm sure there's a feminist waiting around the corner to tell me I mansplained something to someone.

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-11-2018 07:44 AM

Good.

Their shtick got really old a hell of a long time ago. I'm surprised they've managed to drag it out for as long as they have.

I'm a bit surprised at Kofi wanting to retire though. He doesn't seem that old that he needs to retire, but if he wants to, then cool.

I think The New Day disbanding will hurt Woods the most. I can't imagine him amounting to much as a singles competitor. I think if he were to have more success after The New Day, it would be as part of another Tag Team or more likely as a manager.

Big E getting a big push would be alright I guess, just as long as he changed his finisher. The Big Ending is a terrible finisher and I've been saying that since he debuted on the main roster back in 2012. A man as big and strong as Big E should have a more devastating finisher.

Evil Vito 05-11-2018 10:42 AM

Kofi isn't that old (turns 37 in August) but he had done nothing as a singles guy since 2011. He was barely getting booked by the time New Day formed in 2014. I can see why he would prefer to leave after New Day split, because it's unlikely he'd be given anything substantial to do on his own.

According to the Observer, WWE is almost at "idiot proof" status in regards to their future and any potential big mistakes causing uncertainty with investors.

Meltzer also stated WWE is on pace to set a new and massive financial record by 2020 to the point they have no real reason to please crowds or fix their shows in the meantime.

Mr. Nerfect 05-11-2018 11:22 PM

Pull out your financial support and switch off if you want change.

Are they certain they are going to get that massive rights fee increase and that the Network is going to continue to grow? Aren't subs only slightly up after they tried to give WrestleMania away for free?

Emperor Smeat 05-12-2018 12:01 AM

At this point, tv fees are pretty much carrying the company so the more it keeps going up, the less WWE has to care about other areas. Since UFC got a sizeable increase with their deal, the common perception is WWE is going to get a sizeable increase with their new deal.

WWE pretty much gave up on trying to hit 4-5 million subs by now or even be at a legit paid 2+ million which would make any lingering concerns from switching from the old PPV a non-factor. Them giving away Mania for free for years hasn't impacted them at all in terms of revenues.

Also there was one point early in the show where the entire ringside was littered with signs from the audience, so unsafe I can't believe they didn't have someone pick them up.

Jordan 05-12-2018 09:59 AM

I've also been watching WCW summer 2000. Man this shit is intense. First of all it's nowhere near as bad as it was living through it. Watching the way the deal with Booker becoming champ for the first time on Nitro was fantastic, so if you miss the show then it seems pretty epic. One more thing. Holy shit what was going on during this era? They drop bomb there is to drop verbally and it's not beeped, which is cool. Also go watch any segment with Goldberg and Steiner and watch how fucking hard these guy hit each other. My god, I really undervalued those guys during that time, their work was fantastic.

D Lo Brown and the Coach on commentary

Wasn't this about the time Bradshaw has his custom Hardcover title belt?

WCW from like November 2000 till they closed is actually pretty good

Yup, I think he debuted it before the match against Raven

And he takes like 2 hours to get there.

Also, interestingly enough, I have the symbol on his chest tattooed on my left arm in my sleeve.

I always felt like "rat bastard" was an underutilized insult. "Rat fuck" is a close second.

Yeah it's comparable to that saying "if a tree falls in a forest"... you have to really want to watch WCW at that time to know what happened. While management kept changing in those last years and the direction of the company was going nowhere fast. The physicality of the matches is really awesome. They really started hitting each other to try and pick up ratings. I'm impressed by all the Goldberg stuff I'm rewatching. I used to shit on him all the time. But I don't mind that he's got two moves, they are fucking awesome. They kill people. He's Bruno with moves. Also he comes off like a goddamn football player. The way he grapples with guys is so physical. Really love Goldberg/Steiner stuff. Also love Nash on the mic but man he was bad in the ring at the end. Booker T though, wow what a great champion. He was the man. I wish WCW lived. :'(

Well he saw a microaggression on Twitter and he really needed to check the offender's privilege.

oh heres the spoiler: Women weren't even offended by the microtransgression.

Like I've watched TV with my white friends before, and white people make a joke referring to black people, and my friends act like "aww man thats not cool man, not okay!" and I'm like "no, that joke was funny. it wasn't offensive. it was in good taste." then they proceed to act fake mad about it, not because they're actually mad, but they feel like they have to be in front of me. If that makes sense.

In putting over WCW at the end I must emphasize how shit Russo is and how his booking and philosophy expedited the downfall of the company. The thing with Russo is he doesn't really like wrestling it shows. He has no respect for anything the company did, no respect for wrestling. Plus literally nobody gave a fuck to see him on camera, ever.

Bad News Gertner 05-12-2018 10:30 AM

Lol when Russo left again in late 2000, the show improved a ton. Imagine fucking that.

I literally had no idea who vince russo was until maybe 2009. Like I had heard the name, but didn't know what he did. Even tho I had seen him on WCW TV several times.

lol I suggest finding new friends.

Also I couldn't stand The Cat during this run, but watching him now is hilarious and very entertaining.

It was such a stretch to assume the WCW audience would've had any idea who he is or given a shit about him for one second considering he was simple a behind the scenes "writer" for WWF. Its that kind of logic that bombed WCW. There was this moment on Nitro where Madden corrects Scott Hudson for saying pro wrestling "It's SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT now Hudson you know that!" What the fuck!? You are going to adopt the bylaws of Vince McMahon in your own promotion? Is that a tail tucked between your legs or just a very small penis? Also Mark Madden is my least favorite big time commentator of all time.

Do they also use terms like "lived experience" as though it doesn't make them the most giant doucheknockers of all time?

Nah, my friends are dope. I'd much rather them be sensitive to an issue that could possibly bother me or offend me than to not be cognizant at all.

lol I just can't relate. Being from where I am I have a diverse melting pot of friends and we're all equally offensive to one another. #CanadaRules

lmaoooo nah not that far. they're pretty sensible and utilize a great level of common sense. I've known them for years and we met in college when they were younger and much less...."aware"....of the plight of black people. But I can tell when they're putting on a front to be extra mad for show lol

I have to stop you right there. I'm equally as much of a dick to my friends as they are to me. It's actually pretty ruthless. All nationalities. A rainbow of fuckfaces.

But when it comes to certain racial things, my white friends tend to tread lightly because they're speaking from an outside perspective and they're still trying to discern where the line is. I tell them all the time I'm not sensitive like that if what they're saying/laughing at isn't vicious or malevolent, but they still dont do it out of respect, which is cool I guess. They don't make jokes about me possibly getting pulled over, or becoming a hashtag, or whatever for obvious reasons.
