<font color=goldenrod>hopefully deGrom can respond with a shutout inning. that feels like the kind of thing that could swing the momentum of the game tho. if the Cubs win this by a run it'll always be known as "The Ivy Game"</font>
Nah....happens more often than you think. It'l just be game 3.
Ground rule doubles are such a bitch move. Who even likes ivy

<font color=goldenrod>I'm fine with the ivy itself...I just think it's dumb that the umps can't have any discretion on where to place the runners aside from the batter. There's no chance the runner doesn't score on that play even if the wall was a standard padded wall. Zero.</font>
<font color=goldenrod>reaaaaaally don't think I agree with not sending deGrom out to at least start the 8th</font>
<font color=goldenrod>3-0. Holy fuck.</font>
Looks like on BTTF day the Cubbies will re-write history by getting swept.
Obvs Marty McFly knowing that info caused a ripple in the space time continuum causing this to happen.
Erased from existence.

<font color=goldenrod>I could still easily see this series ending in NY tbh. I like Steven Matz a lot but he's made a grand total of 7 big league starts and will be pitching on an unusually long 7 days rest tomorrow. It's a tough spot for him.
Then you have Lester on Thursday and if it heads back to NY, Arrieta on Saturday. You know the NY media will be anxious to dust off the 2004 Yankees stories if this series gets pushed to at least 6.</font> |
The Blue Jay should just give up. The Royals won't be stopped.
brue jay never die. 2 MORE BUSH PARTY

<font color=goldenrod>Let's take a look at today's entry in the Mets team trivia calendar shall we?

Got a good chuckle out of that gif.

For someone who complains about balls/strikes as much as he does, Bautista got three very generous calls that at-bat

Estrada with a true gem. Price going to be given a chance to do what he's paid for. If he stinks, he stinks.
Yeah buddy
lol Ned Yoast is so pissed right now, I don't know if I blame him. Volquez got a raw deal, he had great great stuff.
Estrada pitched a gem today. Really glad they didn't bring out Price, seems ludicrous that that was even an option. He's gonna deal on Friday
Yeah, I don't know how he couldn't after Estrada today. Like if that doesn't light some fire under your gooch, you're not worth the hundreds of millions you're demanding.
Blue Jay can't win.
<font color=goldenrod>Pretty low expectations for tonight's game given Matz' inexperience. Still expecting this series to head back to New York. It wouldn't be the Mets if they didn't let things get a little close for comfort.</font>
Wow at the Cubs. Not the way to start a do-or-die type game.
Mets f@*(*#^%ing sluggers
There goes over $1200 in game 5 ticket money for poor old Frank Drebin. Needed them to win just one game and I would have been pleased as punch :nono:
Hope Theo/Maddon and crew are ready for the insane crushing weight of high expectations starting next year.
Gonna take my dogs out soon. Fully expect it to be 9-0 when I get back.
Is the Mortal Kombat "FINISH THEM" screen gonna show up on tv anytime soon? Mets look like they're ready for the Kano heart rip.
This is like '03 or '07. Cubs weren't supposed to make it very far after coming off terrible years prior. After that, the expectations came in. Ask Dusty. Ask Lou. The Red Sox had David Ortiz to exercise the demons. Cubs are full of kids.
Also fuck everyone who works on their business side. No Cubs/Baseball fans allowed to work for a Baseball team. Glad those assholes aren't getting championship rings.
find it very funny/strange that there's a pitcher on the Mets named Matz. comical
David Ross' walk-up music is Forever Young... that's fantastic
Who threw out the first pitch? Did Huey Lewis show up?

goddamn you Kris Bryant for getting my hopes up.

Daniel Murphy going to get paid in the off-season.... Kyle Schwarber needs to learn how to play defense, the guy has got DH written all over him....
The Back to the Future II prophecy was wrong ...
http://cdn.makeagif.com/media/7-24-2015/DanbTX.gif On paper, Mets vs Royals/Jays World Series has the potential to be a really entertaining high scoring series. |
<font color=goldenrod>OH MY FUCKING GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD</font>
Remember when I told you to just calm down and enjoy it? Congratulations you sexy bastard.
<font color=goldenrod>I never expected a sweep in this series. Just incredible.
I have no fucking idea how the World Series will go. Royals and Jays are both very good ballclubs. But fuck it I'm so happy I'll get to see the Mets playing in the World Series. Makes the last few years of embarrassment so worth it.</font> |
<font color=goldenrod>I was 11 and in 6th grade the last time they were in the World Series. Man that's fucking weird to think about.</font>

<font color=goldenrod>I just shed a manly tear watching David Wright's interview on SNY just now.
He came in as a young kid. Tore shit up on some competitive teams. Had his prime years completely wasted with goddawful ballclubs. Thought his career might have been over this year with his spinal stenosis. And now he's going to the World Series. I love that man.</font> |
This latest NLCS loss for the Cubs shows me that the franchise will have to get meaner, nastier, and more ugly in attitude if they want to win the World Series again.
Otherwise, stop wasting MLB's time and just fold the franchise. This type of ho-hum, golly-gee, 'lovable loser' attitude and image about that team needs to die, and now. > = ( |

STD is right. Had two $91 tix sold for 650 each. Couldnt sell games 3 and 4 before they lost the first two and the bottom fell out of the market. Only sold those for 250. Oh well. Guess I can't pay my internet bill. Good bye forever.
Congrats, Vito. Enjoy the moment. |
Well, it was good getting to know you and share jokes/conversations in RAW thread avter RAW thread. :shifty:
RIP Frank Drebin, say hi to Crazy Edgar when you reach that baseball diamond in the sky
Dodgers and Donnie Baseball have mutually agreed to part ways.
Yeah. It was coming sooner or later. All that star power and money and the Dodgers get bounced in the divisional series. Something had to change. |
Firing managers is maybe the most overrated and insignificant change a pro baseball team can make. It's always gonna come down to the players. Bringing in somebody other than Mattingly is going to be of miniscule impact. But alas.
Wonder who they replace him with. |
Wonder where he will end up.
Maybe Boston could bring him on as starting dh

Lol. Whoever it is will likely have to be very much like Maddon and Hurdle, taking input and guidance from a very well informed, analytical based front office. Can't imagine too many veteran managers are gonna wanna be told what and how to things from guys who've "never done it".
Serious post this time - You're correct. Andrew Friedman will pick a guy that fits that description. My only question is that, unlike the Theo/Cubs situation, he already has a stocked roster with vets and millionaire players. While they have fat they could trim, they aren't in a rebuild phase, right? Normally I would say he's going to find a bench coach ready to step up (Mike Maddux, Dave Martinez, Sandy Alomar, the usual names that come up), but it seems like alot for a first time manager. Gardenhire? Sciosia?
Realized Dylan Bundy is going to be out of options. I feel old.
Scioscia isn't going anywhere. He thinks he's a genius and that front office with a dense, stubborn, dinosaur of a manager won't fit.

 Jays player wondering why the out call wasn't made at first base. Royals batter might have had a chance to reach 2nd base if he didn't point to where the ball actually was.
Bautistabomb!!!!!!!!!
Madson walks alone....
Joey friggen Bats.
Royals games don't start until the 8th inning.
Drop a bunt son.
Too late with 2 strikes.
Irrelevant now. Wow.
wow ump get your eyes examined once its out of the royals ass.
Revere should have given the ump shit for that. It's the World Series on the line.
Jays had a chance to win that one. Man on third with no out and you can't get him in. Unbelievable.
AMERICA!!!!!!!
#FORVERROYAL |
lorde lorde lorde
Can't take anything away from the Royals being killer, but I will not understand the 2-1 call on Rever. It may as well have been a pitch out. He got jobbed.
<font color=goldenrod>Well...the Royals bullpen actually looked somewhat human tonight with Madson giving up the game-tying bomb and Davis very nearly blowing it (admittedly with a 1 hour layoff between pitches, but still).
Problem is that doesn't happen very often. Mets will need to stick to the script of the NLCS and pounce on the starters early. I want no part of that Royals bullpen while trailing.</font> |
<font color=goldenrod>Waiting to see how the Mets line up their rotation and who gets Game 1. deGrom has been their ace all season, Harvey would be the most in line for regular rest, and Syndergaard probably has the best pure stuff out of all of them. There really isn't a wrong choice in there. So glad those guys are going to get to pitch on the biggest stage there is.
Should be a really fun series. Hopefully my Mets can pull it out but if they don't there's no shame, the Royals are a complete team.</font> |

Goes to show that MLB, the NBA, and NHL don't want any team coming from Canada to make the playoffs, unless it's to be the prison bitch of the U.S. franchises.
To the fans of the Mets and Royals, you can take all the MLB trophies and shove them up all your asses. Nice to know that the changes the 3 leagues above made to keep the Canadian teams getting weak, stupid players pays off for the corporate profits of the U.S. franchises, and leaving teams like the Jays, and Toronto's sports bars, in financial debt. To me, the 2015 MLB season is over, with the Commissioner's Trophy vacated. > = ( |
Lol maybe the dumbest post in the thread.

Ah well

Lol there is no way that guy is a real person

Lol Ronic is one of my favourite posters. We need a Gary Bettman rant from him.

I want Canada's 2-decade long+ pro sports title drought in the NHL, NBA, and MLB to end, no matter nothing, and to me, if it means using the tactics of 'beatin' and cheatin', so be it.
> = ( |
you keep doing you, bro

I think the CFL should have an invasion angle and have an American team win it. That would be i-ronic wouldn't it?
