Those are the rules kids. Cubs have been on the other end of that plenty of times as well.

Evil Vito 10-20-2015 10:01 PM

<font color=goldenrod>hopefully deGrom can respond with a shutout inning. that feels like the kind of thing that could swing the momentum of the game tho. if the Cubs win this by a run it'll always be known as "The Ivy Game"</font>

Frank Drebin 10-20-2015 10:02 PM

Nah....happens more often than you think. It'l just be game 3.

Lol and degrom up right after. Brutal.

Evil Vito 10-20-2015 10:09 PM

<font color=goldenrod>I'm fine with the ivy itself...I just think it's dumb that the umps can't have any discretion on where to place the runners aside from the batter. There's no chance the runner doesn't score on that play even if the wall was a standard padded wall. Zero.</font>

Evil Vito 10-20-2015 10:39 PM

<font color=goldenrod>reaaaaaally don't think I agree with not sending deGrom out to at least start the 8th</font>

<font color=goldenrod>3-0. Holy fuck.</font>

Looks like on BTTF day the Cubbies will re-write history by getting swept.

Frank Drebin 10-20-2015 11:35 PM

Obvs Marty McFly knowing that info caused a ripple in the space time continuum causing this to happen.

Erased from existence.

Evil Vito 10-20-2015 11:46 PM

<font color=goldenrod>I could still easily see this series ending in NY tbh. I like Steven Matz a lot but he's made a grand total of 7 big league starts and will be pitching on an unusually long 7 days rest tomorrow. It's a tough spot for him.

Then you have Lester on Thursday and if it heads back to NY, Arrieta on Saturday. You know the NY media will be anxious to dust off the 2004 Yankees stories if this series gets pushed to at least 6.</font>

BigDaddyCool 10-21-2015 12:12 AM

The Blue Jay should just give up. The Royals won't be stopped.

Bautista complains about pretty much everything. A very strident, angry man.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-21-2015 07:09 PM

Estrada with a true gem. Price going to be given a chance to do what he's paid for. If he stinks, he stinks.

Bad News Gertner 10-21-2015 07:16 PM

Yeah buddy

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-21-2015 07:21 PM

lol Ned Yoast is so pissed right now, I don't know if I blame him. Volquez got a raw deal, he had great great stuff.

road doggy dogg 10-21-2015 07:38 PM

Estrada pitched a gem today. Really glad they didn't bring out Price, seems ludicrous that that was even an option. He's gonna deal on Friday

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-21-2015 07:45 PM

Yeah, I don't know how he couldn't after Estrada today. Like if that doesn't light some fire under your gooch, you're not worth the hundreds of millions you're demanding.

BigDaddyCool 10-21-2015 07:48 PM

Blue Jay can't win.

Evil Vito 10-21-2015 07:51 PM

<font color=goldenrod>Pretty low expectations for tonight's game given Matz' inexperience. Still expecting this series to head back to New York. It wouldn't be the Mets if they didn't let things get a little close for comfort.</font>

Emperor Smeat 10-21-2015 08:21 PM

Wow at the Cubs. Not the way to start a do-or-die type game.

Frank Drebin 10-21-2015 08:57 PM

Hope Theo/Maddon and crew are ready for the insane crushing weight of high expectations starting next year.

Frank Drebin 10-21-2015 08:59 PM

Gonna take my dogs out soon. Fully expect it to be 9-0 when I get back.

ClockShot 10-21-2015 08:59 PM

Is the Mortal Kombat "FINISH THEM" screen gonna show up on tv anytime soon? Mets look like they're ready for the Kano heart rip.

Frank Drebin 10-21-2015 09:03 PM

This is like '03 or '07. Cubs weren't supposed to make it very far after coming off terrible years prior. After that, the expectations came in. Ask Dusty. Ask Lou. The Red Sox had David Ortiz to exercise the demons. Cubs are full of kids.

Frank Drebin 10-21-2015 09:10 PM

Also fuck everyone who works on their business side. No Cubs/Baseball fans allowed to work for a Baseball team. Glad those assholes aren't getting championship rings.

<font color=goldenrod>I never expected a sweep in this series. Just incredible.

I have no fucking idea how the World Series will go. Royals and Jays are both very good ballclubs. But fuck it I'm so happy I'll get to see the Mets playing in the World Series. Makes the last few years of embarrassment so worth it.</font>

Evil Vito 10-22-2015 12:06 AM

<font color=goldenrod>I just shed a manly tear watching David Wright's interview on SNY just now.

He came in as a young kid. Tore shit up on some competitive teams. Had his prime years completely wasted with goddawful ballclubs. Thought his career might have been over this year with his spinal stenosis. And now he's going to the World Series.

I love that man.</font>

RaginRonic 10-22-2015 12:21 AM

This latest NLCS loss for the Cubs shows me that the franchise will have to get meaner, nastier, and more ugly in attitude if they want to win the World Series again.

Otherwise, stop wasting MLB's time and just fold the franchise.

This type of ho-hum, golly-gee, 'lovable loser' attitude and image about that team needs to die, and now.

He was probably going to sell them for that price. You are refunded for games that don't happen. Unless you bought from a scalper or something.

Frank Drebin 10-22-2015 01:57 AM

STD is right. Had two $91 tix sold for 650 each. Couldnt sell games 3 and 4 before they lost the first two and the bottom fell out of the market. Only sold those for 250. Oh well. Guess I can't pay my internet bill. Good bye forever.

Congrats, Vito. Enjoy the moment.

Yeah. It was coming sooner or later. All that star power and money and the Dodgers get bounced in the divisional series. Something had to change.

Damian Rey 10-22-2015 11:50 AM

Firing managers is maybe the most overrated and insignificant change a pro baseball team can make. It's always gonna come down to the players. Bringing in somebody other than Mattingly is going to be of miniscule impact. But alas.

Wonder who they replace him with.

Damian Rey 10-22-2015 08:29 PM

Lol. Whoever it is will likely have to be very much like Maddon and Hurdle, taking input and guidance from a very well informed, analytical based front office. Can't imagine too many veteran managers are gonna wanna be told what and how to things from guys who've "never done it".

Frank Drebin 10-22-2015 09:36 PM

Serious post this time - You're correct. Andrew Friedman will pick a guy that fits that description. My only question is that, unlike the Theo/Cubs situation, he already has a stocked roster with vets and millionaire players. While they have fat they could trim, they aren't in a rebuild phase, right? Normally I would say he's going to find a bench coach ready to step up (Mike Maddux, Dave Martinez, Sandy Alomar, the usual names that come up), but it seems like alot for a first time manager. Gardenhire? Sciosia?

Frank Drebin 10-22-2015 09:46 PM

Realized Dylan Bundy is going to be out of options. I feel old.

Damian Rey 10-22-2015 10:57 PM

Scioscia isn't going anywhere. He thinks he's a genius and that front office with a dense, stubborn, dinosaur of a manager won't fit.

Can't take anything away from the Royals being killer, but I will not understand the 2-1 call on Rever. It may as well have been a pitch out. He got jobbed.

Evil Vito 10-24-2015 12:30 AM

<font color=goldenrod>Well...the Royals bullpen actually looked somewhat human tonight with Madson giving up the game-tying bomb and Davis very nearly blowing it (admittedly with a 1 hour layoff between pitches, but still).

Problem is that doesn't happen very often. Mets will need to stick to the script of the NLCS and pounce on the starters early. I want no part of that Royals bullpen while trailing.</font>

Evil Vito 10-24-2015 12:32 AM

<font color=goldenrod>Waiting to see how the Mets line up their rotation and who gets Game 1. deGrom has been their ace all season, Harvey would be the most in line for regular rest, and Syndergaard probably has the best pure stuff out of all of them. There really isn't a wrong choice in there. So glad those guys are going to get to pitch on the biggest stage there is.

Should be a really fun series. Hopefully my Mets can pull it out but if they don't there's no shame, the Royals are a complete team.</font>

Goes to show that MLB, the NBA, and NHL don't want any team coming from Canada to make the playoffs, unless it's to be the prison bitch of the U.S. franchises.

To the fans of the Mets and Royals, you can take all the MLB trophies and shove them up all your asses.

Nice to know that the changes the 3 leagues above made to keep the Canadian teams getting weak, stupid players pays off for the corporate profits of the U.S. franchises, and leaving teams like the Jays, and Toronto's sports bars, in financial debt.

To me, the 2015 MLB season is over, with the Commissioner's Trophy vacated.
