Ghostbusters: Remastered and the new DLC for Ultimate Alliance 3.

Helmsphere 01-17-2020 11:40 PM

DBZ Kaka Karret Kake I mean Kakarot

DAMN iNATOR 01-19-2020 04:34 PM

Been working through AC Syndicate as I have never done so before. Not sure how I feel about the "dual protagonists" thing though. R* gave us 3 protagonists in GTA V and I felt like it took more away from the story than it contributed to it.

ClockShot 01-20-2020 07:24 PM

Syndicate ain't the best of the bunch. Down near the bottom of the list in terms of best games of the series that I've played.

ClockShot 01-20-2020 07:27 PM

Finished/platinumed Jedi: Fallen Order.

Good. Not great. Don't know what all the hype was about it. Seems to me Stig Asmussen wanted to do God of War 3 over again but with a Star Wars skin.

He ain't coming close to Cory Barlog's masterpiece anytime soon.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-20-2020 11:49 PM

Just hype there was a non-multiplayer Star Wars game again. It had been a while since the Force Unleashed 2.

There aren't any microtransactions in Fallen Order, right? Ash knows I'd be thanking the heavens and gushing like crazy if a game didn't have that.

Destor 01-21-2020 10:49 AM

No microtransactions

ClockShot 01-21-2020 08:05 PM

None. But you can pay the extra $10 to the get the stuff in the deluxe edition. Which is just a few extra skins. Nothing special.

ClockShot 01-23-2020 08:42 PM

Back into Borderlands 3 and doing the Handsome Jackpot DLC.

Fun......so far. Haven't gotten to the meat of it yet.

Helmsphere 01-23-2020 08:43 PM

Still playing DBZ Kakarot. I love this game.

Revisited Until Dawn with my brother. Uncharted 4 is next.

I started a NG+ on FFXV because I upgraded to Royal Edition for like £2 months ago since it was on sale.

I'm about a half hour in and honestly I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. I'm so over levelled combat just kind of momentarily happens around me. Just kind of fumbling around pressing buttons or watching NEW RECIPEH Ignis drive me around instead of thinking of NEW RECIPES. Quite jarring.

Destor 01-25-2020 01:24 AM

Im still playing trails of cold steel and prob will be till late spring

Defeat the powerful monsters, get the best weapons, do the DLC, catch the elusive fish, etc.

Sadly, that was one of those games where you once you platinumed it, it was all over.

I get the feeling once Im far enough in to stop curb stomping everything Im going to have no idea how the combat mechanics work and get squashed myself

Only really got it is because it was dirt cheap on PS Store. I've still got Sequences VIII and IX plus the WW1 sequence in the main game (I know WW1 unlocks before the end of the main story but I'm trying to play in chronological order), and the Jack the Ripper DLC to get through.

I'd say I've had slightly more fun with it than I did Unity. Once I'm done, I may decide to cross Rogue (the remaster) off the list as I never got around to that one either.

Honestly the battles that shouldn't be hard such as Raditz, Vegeta, Jeice and Burter and Dr. Gero are the hardest and the others arent.

Trying my hand at Ninja Gaiden for the NES on the Switch. I'm trying not to do save points and see how much my 'skills' have advanced over the years. I've never beaten it and I guess I'm too much of a masochist to just let it slide.

I've only had trouble with one story battle and I want to say it was the opening Goku v Vegeta, but only because I kept trying to use kaio-ken at the worst possible time and wasn't paying close enough attention to how much health it was draining. Tried it again and just played as normal and wrecked Vegeta as I have everyone else.

The only true challenging battles I've had thus far (I'm just getting to Namek now) is when I tried to train for the Super Masenko for Gohan well before the recommended level. That was a train wreck lol.

I just completed Battlefield 3 after buying it years ago just before my PS3 died. I only ever played online but the campaign was frantic and hard as hell. I might have to dig out COD Modern Warfare 3 and try that campaign.

I still have Assassins Creed and Assassins Creed Revelations to play plus a whole bunch of games my buddy gave me before he left town.

Deus Ex Human Revolution is one of them but I tried it and the hacking in it is an awful pain in the arse. I did like the difficulty level when doing combat missions though, that was cool.

They did patch a lot of the most major issues after FNV released (i.e. Doc Mitchell's head rotating around like a Mickey Mouse watch, etc.), but if you're hoping for a new round of patches on a game that's not only last-gen but also nearly a decade old since the vanilla release and nearly 8 years old since the Ultimate Edition (think GotY - it included all the DLC, including Gun Runners' Arsenal) released, then yeah, no, unfortunately that's never happening. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Finished Namek. Only Recoome was not a pushover and only because he has an insane amount of blocking and breaks damn near every long combo you try to put on him.

Maybe I missed them or something but ffs this game would benefit tremendously from difficulty levels.

Been diving back into Warframe on the Switch lately. Really fantastically fun game, especially for a f2p (I've yet to spend a dime on the game but will inevitably buy some Platinum or something to give a lil somethin' to the devs). Being a space parkour ninja is cool as hell

Finished Kakarot. It's a lot of fun and great fan service. I hope they continue it through Super, and wouldn't mind them adopting the original DB as well. It's a good format.

But it was too easy and it never got harder unfortunately. Battles have a typical letter grading system, S rank being the best then going to the typical A-whatever scale as you go lower. I don't know that it's possible to get worse than an A though. I never did, and even they were few and far between as I easily S ranked 98% of the battles. Even the secret level 100 boss was a pushover who only hit me maybe twice lol

The lead, who did 3-5, left before 5 released to start a new studio (but still and Atlus subsidiary.) The core tean beneath him is still there though so its not entirely new people just one of his subordinates is now the lead.

So its not doom and gloom. Its just uncharted territory

Ultra Mantis 01-31-2020 06:56 PM

Ultra Mantis 01-31-2020 08:25 PM

Oh man, totally forgot they used the likeness of a sweaty Hurley from LOST for a sidequest NPC in FFXV and didnt even hire Jorge Garcia to voice him. Did we ever get an explaination for this? He's stood ten feet away from the Cup Noodle sponsorship stall too. So bizarre.

Still playing through Assassin's Creed Odyssey..keep doing side quests and exploring rather than finish the story. Fuck the haters who don't like the RPG element introduced. One of the most visually stunning games I've played

Like I said, I got back into TF2..fun fun

Also recently got back into Splatoon II

The February Stadia games are Gylt and Metro Exodus so I'll probably start those this week

Recently re purposed my SF2 Arcade1Up cabinet with a Rasberry Pie 4 so I randomly play Mame, SNES, Genesis, etc. on it

I need to get out there and get some pussy before Cyberpunk comes out. I'll be in full blown neckbeard mode

Destor 02-02-2020 09:24 PM

Sepholio 02-02-2020 10:03 PM

Assassins Creed Odyssey was incredible, 100% agree. I also kept getting side tracked and exploring. Always "let me just travel over to one more question mark on the map" mentality. I only progressed the main story when I had to.

Destor 02-03-2020 12:34 AM

I preffered origins kver Odyssee. Origins had a better crafting and leveling system. That said stealth was much better in odysee. Both are good tho

DAMN iNATOR 02-04-2020 04:28 PM

I was working through Rogue remaster but then along comes the fucking part where you have to sink Adéwalé's ship before you can kill him. It's essentially a 2-on-1 handicap tornado match with ships. My Morrigan is quite weak compared to his ship. Kept losing badly to him because I apparently haven't done enough to upgrade it, but that requires huge amounts of material and £ and I don't have the motivation to scavenge supply camps and abandoned shipwrecks to upgrade it to the point where I could take him down, so it's most likely getting deleted soon.

The real main story line pay offs are actually v hard to get and are dependent on about 4 or 5 very key choices you make throughout the game and you are not warned of the relevance or significance of those choices when you make them.

The Atlantis content ending is the big pay off anyways and is basically the real ending. Unlike the other big DLC, the Atlantis stuff is a direct continuation of the mainline. The content also adds in a few new gameplay wrinkles that make it awesome af, particularly a couple of the craftable legendary weapons.

Sepholio 02-09-2020 03:16 PM

Also a lot of the main ending of Odyssey was tied to sidequests and other random things, so if you had a lot of outstanding quests and events then you likely missed out on a number of scenes that would have fleshed it out.

I remember the day I (like maybe level 50 at the time) was walking around a forest in the little area just to the west of Macedonia and saw the symbol for a merc in the area. I wasn't wanted, so they weren't looking for me, so I decided to sneak up on them and see if they were a higher or lower rank one and if they were worth bothering with. Got up on the guy and holy shit it was the level 99 guy at the top of the totem pole just off on a walk in the woods lol. I tried to do a full power sneak attack on him and barely dented him lmao. He was not impressed.

I did end up abusing the whole sneak attack and run away method for like 20 minutes though until I ended up beating him....only got moved up one rank still :/

I bought Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition for $4.99 . Anyone ever played this? What do you think of it?

Ultra Mantis 02-14-2020 09:57 AM

I'm up to the ending "on rails" section of ffxv and I've been playing DLC where it fits into the story.

Episode Gladio kind of sucks, worst version of Gilgamesh ever. Hes not even Gilgamesh other than in name. Gladio's sudden cup noodle fetish is also glossed over, dude eats 5 in one day and then next time he sees one he jizzes his pants.

Episode Ignis is actually great. Ignis is the best character in the game by far and this DLC not only fleshes him out and gives him a hook shot but actually gives Ravus a personality, backstory and motivation. Why they never did that in the actual game is mind boggling.

Not done Prompto's yet but from the other DLC credits I discovered he is actually Goro Akechi and now I dont trust him.

Platinum'd Borderlands 3 last night. Good times. Uninstalled for now until the next batch of DLC comes out.

Going back to Red Dead Redemption 2. Going to try like hell to knock out all the challenges, side stuff, and collectibles in single player before I make the jump into online again.

Ultra Mantis 02-20-2020 07:39 PM

I'm about to do Episode Ardyn, and kill the toise then I think I'm done with FFXV. I've definitely not tackled some of the content (those post game doors in dungeons) but I felt the same about post game last time. I did Pitioss or whatever it was called, but other than that it's just not much fun. Combat is such a downer, even now the game has caught up with my level I don't feel very involved in it.

Some thoughts on the royal edition additions (Going to spoiler tag just in case theres somebody out there on TPWW who cares about FFXV and hasn't played it yet. Of all things):

SPOILER: show

This is some content that SHOULD have been there from the beginning. The story is so bare bones that leaving huge unexplained gaps was absolute bullshit, even more so that Gladio's absence is completely shoehorned in and uneventful. The Prompto DLC and especially the Ignis DLC are REQUIRED. The sudden "Oh Ignis is blind now btw" and "Oh yeah Promto is actually a cloned murder robot" reveals of the vanilla game are absolutely ludicrous. Ravus is an actual character in the DLC. What the fuck was he in the main game. Dude shows up, owns Gladio and then just dies offscreen. Gladio why do you love cup noodles so much? You eat like 10 in a row and probably throw up from it because you're fighting off reanimated corpses and lugging around pillars you stupid dickhead. You should hate cup noodles by association!

I'm not fighting Omega Weapon, I tried him and I was doing like 9 damage a hit. He has a giant health bar. No thanks.

The absolute best thing about royal edition is they improved the ending sequence, Insomia being an actual dungeon with a boss really ramps it up. You also get to fight the founder kings after Ifrit and each of the bros get their little turn to be a badass. Makes a huge difference to everyone just immediately being KOd and Ardyn saying "lol don't need them for the final boss". It gives the ending a bit more of an emotional punch but Noctis remains incredibly under developed so it's hard to shed a tear for the guy and I do love crying at the end of video games.

I have no doubt Persona 5 Royal Edition is going to be a much more thrilling ride, but for now I have to decide which ones of my 1004 backlogged games to start on next...

Jordan 02-23-2020 12:08 AM

Ultra Mantis 02-24-2020 06:03 PM

Started Tokyo Xanadu Ex+, which I picked up cheap like a year ago because people were saying it's like Persona. In some ways it is. There's a Rise and a Chie expy already. There's kind of social links I guess. Hidden world only visible to "awoken" people. All the usual stuff. Combat is hack and slash action though and seems kinda bad. Also the main character kind of floats when he runs and it's hilarious. Obviously nowhere near as good as Persona but it's alright I guess.

@Destor, it's made by the same team as Trails of Cold Steel apparently, I think there's even a trailer for it playing in the electronics store. From what I've read Trails is a lot better.

Destor 02-24-2020 06:51 PM

Well trails is fucking ace so im not surprised. I mean...trails is a handheld port and it shows but fuck..love trails

Ultra Mantis 02-24-2020 07:17 PM

Yeah I think this was originally on Vita too, at least I'd hope so going off the character models.

Destor 03-06-2020 03:52 AM

Finished Tokyo Mirage. Really fun. Good combat and leveling systems. Characters are pretty good too. Has some negitives though. Sidequests are formulaic and unimaginative. The leveling system, while deep, has a design flaw that adds tedium through backtracking that should just be a menu screen. Weeby to the point it will turn many off.

All that said im the niche this was made for. Even the flaws didnt phase me. The various systems the game offered me were very addicting. Constant progression and you really feel the growth as you level through the multiple advancement mechanisms.

Plus some of the characters were so kawaii it was impossible not to love them.

Also Kiria is best girl.

Destor 03-06-2020 03:54 AM

Up next....either 3 houses DLC, DQ1 or Trails 3. Im pushing trails 3 off since the localisation for 4 hasnt been announced i dont wanna be stuck on a cliff hanger :'(

Sepholio 03-06-2020 08:51 AM

Been feeling a huge diablo shaped void in my soul lately, so I decided to give Wolcen a try. Oof. So much potential, so little execution. The gameplay has all the right hooks and is fun....but the game is just too broken. For instance, gold is a fairly precious commodity and you don't get tons of it like you do in Diablo. And Endgame stuff costs a good bit of it, meaning get ready to grind...I played to the end game and had maybe 200k gold saved up, nowhere near enough for the stuff I had to pay for now. Then I found out I can just multiply item values by stacking/unstacking things. Made 661 million gold in about a minute.

You can clone your characters, dump the inventory of the clones into the shared stash, and boom, dupes.

Tons of nodes on the skill tree don't even work. They do nothing. Ended up making only 1 build truly viable for high level end game stuff. And the only reason that build worked is because all the nodes worked, but the developers apparently didn't think people would pick these nodes or something because they make you OP af, like broken levels of OP. So instead of fixing other nodes so maybe other builds could work.....they nerfed the good build to bring it in line with the broken ones lmao.

Oh and my character randomly started moonwalking uncontrollably until he was surrounded by clones of himself either praying or dancing in honor of him and then he flopped through the geometry and into the abyss.

It's a really beautiful game, and the gameplay is awesome when it works right, but they really needed to have about 6 months of testing/fixing the full version before they released it.

This brings me to the following: I am finally playing Path of Exile. I had tried it before, but the camera felt too zoomed into me and was annoying back in the day and I just didn't like the feel of it.

Apparently a lot has changed. Camera is still a little close but much better than it was and the graphics engine has been completely overhauled. The game is waaaay better looking and performs way better than I remember.

And jesus I have never seen so much content in a game like this. It's beyond overwhelming.

Very very glad I decided to cave in and give it another chance. Diablo itch scratched.

100% Red Dead Redemption 2. Some of the stuff I had to do was tedious in order to get there, but totally worth it.

Now, just gotta mop up the animal trophies and get 70 gold medals in various missions and all story related stuff will be done.

Not feeling motivated to resume God Of War.

Well you better find that motivation.

I still can't. In a problem similar problem with ESO and Neverwinter, all of the goddamn text is too small with no way to adjust it. My TV is across the living room. I'm not sitting right up on a monitor like a PC gamer. This is a basic menu thing missing that devs are taking for granted.

I cycled back to State of Decay 2 in time for their big update. Digging the new map, and to a point, the heavy weapons (seemed to be rolling powerhouse all the time on characters when it was pretty worthless, now that it is essential for better use of the heavies, I only got ONE person to roll it). They're more useful if you have help, though. And I mean actual person co-op help, since they have a huge stamina drain, and it's easy to get overwhelmed if you're solo and trying to use a hogsplitter.

You will learn the true meaning of "frustration" playing Dark Souls games.
