 XenoGears

But it was more like 25 hours of the boring part.

Xero 11-07-2010 08:39 AM

lol, playing DKC and never really read any of Kranky Kong's scenes before. Pretty funny stuff.

OssMan 11-07-2010 10:34 AM

XeroGears. There is an odd Super Mario 64 reference in Cranky's Save Cave in DKC3. But Cranky has the best music in DKC2.

Drakul 11-07-2010 10:50 AM

It's Wrinkly's cave, not Cranky's. Cranky is at the minigame stand in DKC3.

V 11-07-2010 11:30 AM

the reason is Donkey Kong Country 3 came out after, or near the same time as the N64, so they were just advertising/referencing it in DKC 3.

I remember buying DKC 3 and the N64 almost at the same time.

Kalyx triaD 11-07-2010 02:21 PM

Yeah that was strange. Should have just ported the game, but I guess that infringed on the whole 3D era bullshit we rushed into.

Xero 11-07-2010 07:16 PM

Were there any original 16-bit-style games on the N64 at all?

There were games that used sprites with a 3D background (ex. Killer Instinct Gokd).

Maybe Paper Mario but never played it on the N64.

Xero 11-07-2010 07:49 PM

I guess Killer Instinct is close to what I'm thinking of. Definitely not Paper Mario.

BigDaddyCool 11-08-2010 11:15 AM

I don't think I should suffer through 5 hours of boring shit on a game I spent money on till it gets good.

Funky Fly 11-08-2010 03:15 PM

tbh, I like the 2010 version better. Far less motion sickness and getting lost and somehow getting into an area without having the right colour key yet and all that other shit.

BigDaddyCool 11-08-2010 03:17 PM

I hate you funky fly.

Funky Fly 11-08-2010 03:19 PM

You know what? If real life were more like the 1993 FPS, it would take me forever to find you and stab you with my gun. However, since real life is closer to the 2010 FPS, I'm gonna stab you with my gun right quick, asshole. :foc:

BigDaddyCool 11-08-2010 03:23 PM

bring it, honkey.

#BROKEN Hasney 11-08-2010 03:34 PM

Hate modern FPS so much. Just dullsville.

Emperor Smeat 11-08-2010 04:56 PM

There are some good ones but the problem is everyone either just copies Halo, Call of Duty, or whatever shooter game ends up becoming popular. Also doesn't help that Microsoft basically created the Xbox 360 as a "shooter"-heavy console and Sony followed after initially make fun of them.

Emperor Smeat 11-08-2010 06:31 PM

Konami announces Metal Gear Rising will miss the late 2011 release date they wanted and now is set as a TBA 2012 release date. Earliest the game could be released now is middle to late 2012 since an early 2012 date would have been announced by now.

No reason why the game is delayed but the Metal Gear series does have a history of delaying games past original release dates.

Kalyx triaD 11-08-2010 07:03 PM

Take their time, I say. This is bold new ground for the series, I'd hate to see it come out as a so-so action game.

XenoGears is so amazing after all the boring part though. Definitely worth it.

RoXer 11-08-2010 07:21 PM

I gotta get Xenogears
That's the type of game that relieves my fears
Get it from overseas to here

OssMan 11-08-2010 07:22 PM

I have 2 copies of it .....

Kalyx triaD 11-08-2010 07:26 PM

I love my XBL pic. Drakul's as well. RoXer has a cool one.

Fignuts 11-08-2010 09:15 PM

Mine is best.

RoXer 11-08-2010 09:48 PM

I gotta get Psychic Force
Authentic arcade that I can endorse
They got me liking imports

RoXer 11-08-2010 09:51 PM

Rival schools, Batsu purchase you ought to
It came with one free CD, it's like I bought two
I hope they make part II for Dreamcast
'Cause games I've seen in mags, you won't believe they have

OssMan 11-08-2010 09:56 PM

Shenmue is so in depth
But very tedious might I suggest
You only play it if you have a strong will

I'll never make it through 5 hours

SD3 and SOM are two of my favorite games of all time, absolutely adore them. I've played through SD3 seven times so far, to do like every class/character combination :'( dunno about taking forever to level up but the 8 mana beasts are a bitch if you're not the right level when you fight them.

OssMan 11-09-2010 01:15 PM

I hate Secret of Mana so much. Might be the worst game I have ever played, worse than Star Ocean: Til the End of Time. So far I have yet to find one person who loves Secret of Mana who didn't play it when they were like 8 years old. I feel like that's the only value it has to people.

Boomer 11-09-2010 01:28 PM

Bringing back the Gunbound love, huh Assman?

(h)

BigDaddyCool 11-09-2010 01:33 PM

I had an Afghan flag in gunbound.

OssMan 11-09-2010 02:52 PM

I always sported a SARS Protector :wavesad:

Rockstar to release trailer to the long delayed L.A. Noire game on November 11.

The game has been through 3-4 development studios since 2004 and been funded initially by Sony until 2007/2008 when Rockstar took over.

Rumor has it one of the secret deals involving the GTA Episodes being "exclusive" to Microsoft meant this game had to be exclusive to the PS3. Once Microsoft lost the exclusive deal to the Episodes, this game became a multi-platform game to appease Microsoft.

Kalyx triaD 11-09-2010 06:57 PM

Games with turbulent development histories usually show it. I hope R* managed to get something out of it.

Jeritron 11-09-2010 07:19 PM

So is that game going to be a noir gangster free roam? I'm guessing it will be to noir movies what Red Dead was to westerns?

If so, that's incredible. Although GTA has touched on so much of noir and crime films, despite being in a modern setting.
I don't think it will be as refreshing as RDR was. I'm not sure what other time-period/genre they can tap into though.

Emperor Smeat 11-09-2010 07:48 PM

More like your a detective investigating a major crime or series of crimes but using the GTA model for free roaming and world. They want the game to look like the old 1940s and 1950s style detective films in appearance.

I forgot how the game was shaping up when the initial team and then Sony were making the game but it was going to be a bit different in style than what Rockstar is doing. Sony kept rejecting and changing stuff during development which explained why it cost almost $60-$100 million before they sold it to Rockstar to finish.

The other game Rockstar is doing called Agent is completely different since your a spy during the Cold War.

Fignuts 11-09-2010 08:00 PM

Agent sounds better. Any more info on that?

Nope just that as of now its exclusive to the PS3 (Sony is funding the game), the setting is the 1970s Cold War era, and your either a spy or secret agent.

Jeritron 11-10-2010 12:50 AM

By tapping into westerns and now noir, they've really touched on the two film genres that have the most distinct identities.
I'm curious what they will do after that. Agent sounds cool. Hopefully it's a love letter to Bond/espionage films.
