I like them as cocky prick heels. They're bland and unbelievable as babyfaces. Idk what it is but I can't get into and buy them as faces.

Problem now is FTR are better heels and talkers than the Bucks and I don't see how the division works of they're both heel teams.

Nonetheless, I thought it was way to early to take the belts off FTR. There's no credible heel team for the Bucks to fued with.

Pretty meh episode of Dynamite IMO. There was some decent stuff in there and I don’t regret watching it or anything but it’s nothing that would draw me back in if I was just watching for the first time.

Thankfully they don’t often have two meh shows in a row and I already think next week is looking pretty optimistic with Omega/Fenix.

Mr. Nerfect 12-24-2020 12:11 AM

Sounds like they’re really capitalising on moving their World Title and getting Sting in.

slik 12-24-2020 12:12 AM

Yeah I concur with the last two shows being sort of 'eh'

Next two appear to be more stacked with lots of possibilities for fun stuff

slik 12-24-2020 12:12 AM

I wish the Britt Baker talk-show segment was on Dynamite instead of Dark

Yeah this show felt very filler esque. Next week looks fun. Curious to see what direction they take Moxley in now that he's not champ. Can't imagine they feed him another loss in a rematch.

Acclaimed vs. Young Bucks was pretty good despite being a bit too long.

This week's show was very enjoyable overall and better than last week's but still below the Winter is Coming and Shaq apperance shows.

This week's show was probably also the best produced one of the coronavirus pandemic era since the fake crowd stuff wasn't that overbearing during it.

AEW going away any time soon means WWE can then put all their focus towards trying to topple and getting rid of NJPW and other notable promotions next as part of their global wrestling conquest plans with NXT. Doesn't matter if its international like NJPW or AAA or even domestic like ROH or NWA, if WWE thinks your any sort of a threat to their global plans, you now become a big target to get rid of.

Think it’ll be tough to ever top the 5 or 6 week stretch of QT Marshall gym shows for the most meh run in Dynamite. They did ok for the first couple of weeks but the restrictions of only having a skeleton crew became pretty clear. Once they got everybody back it felt refreshing.

I don't get why they waste good segments on a YouTube show. They could've bumped Jungle Boy and friends v DarkOrder and subbed in Baker's segment.

The segments/backstage stuff was the highlight of the show honestly. Nothing of importance happened in the ring.

Jeez I forgot about that run but you're right. Completely forgettable.

Evil Vito 12-24-2020 12:16 AM

Omega and Callis’ promo was the highlight for me tonight. It was simple but those guys work so well together. Omega vs Fenix will be a good time.

I did too, I don't remember it at all

Evil Vito 12-24-2020 12:20 AM

In general the live shows tend to be better than the taped ones just because there seems to be a different sort of energy.

I don’t begrudge them for taping every other Dynamite though. Best to not make the entire roster travel to and from Jacksonville every week during a pandemic.

slik 12-24-2020 12:22 AM

I don't remember anything from the episode on the Cruise ship except the fans chanting "Your boat sucks" when that other cruise ship passed them

Damian Rey 2.0 12-24-2020 12:23 AM

You're right. The difference in energy in the arena is obvious. I think mostly the taped shows have been fine minus the crappy crowd noise. But tonight just felt meh beyond them advancing stories thru segments, interviews and promos.

I'd assume its just them wanting to test out her segment a few times before giving it Dynamite status. Her talking segment is still a bit rough around the edges.

They do the same thing with Being The Elite to test out some character and storyline stuff before having it show up on Dark and Dynamite. The winless feud between Cutler & Avalon started off there before it got upgraded into being a Dark feud.

Damian Rey 2.0 12-24-2020 12:29 AM

That's true. Silver and Reynolds really got to shine with their comedic chops on BTE and now Silver is one of my favorite acts on the show.

Emperor Smeat 12-24-2020 12:38 AM

Yeah the Dark Order grew a lot in terms of character personalities and direction due to AEW's Being the Elite show.

AEW pretty much is in a Catch-22 situation. If they do anything notable on BTE and/or Dark, then people complain they are wasting stuff that should be strictly on TV. If they try to put everything on Dynamite, then people complain too much stuff is going on or certain stuff is not done as regularly as other stuff while Dark is seen as a useless show to follow.

For a while, some people were arguing AEW should just drop all their women's stuff from Dynamite since it was barely any good without realizing or caring that how can it ever improve if its not given the quality TV time and attention it needs.

I feel like the live shows for the most part have been weaker... mostly because of the lack of piped in crowd noise, so it always feels like it has much less energy (and they always seem to do worse in the ratings, so seems like I'm not the only one who feels that way)

Evil Vito 12-24-2020 07:19 AM

See I I find the piped in crowd noise to be distracting when they overdo it. The performers themselves seem to be a bit more locked in knowing they're on the air live.

Evil Vito 12-24-2020 07:20 AM

Miss proper crowds so much though. The Dynamite with Cody and Wardlow in a cage match was probably the best episode of the year, crowd was shit hot for everything. Sigh, fucking COVID.

Jordan 12-24-2020 08:20 AM

AEW is kind of 50/50 for me. There is some talent that I love to watch, and then they have a large amount of talent that I don't think should be on TV. The slow burn approach to storylines is good but I don't like that it's super slow. Sometimes a month or more to pickup segments, like the Cody/Jade/Shaq segment for example. I tend to feel more negatively about the taped episodes because they generally have more b-team focus. The women's division started off pretty good in the beginning but I have hardly any interest in what they are doing with it now. I understand that they are trying to build stars everywhere but I would appreciate seeing the big stars more often.

Evil Vito 12-24-2020 09:19 AM

Yeah that's a fair point. On one hand I appreciate that they try to leverage their big roster and not overexpose anyone, even seeing someone wrestle on Dynamite two weeks in a row is pretty rare...three weeks in a row basically never, aside from the Cody TV title run.

On the other hand they are a bit too rigid with it. I realize a common complaint of WWE is you see the same guys wrestling the same matches week in, week out...but that doesn't mean you have to pull guys off TV entirely for a week. Let them carry on their angle in pre-tapes or segments instead of hitting pause and skipping a week.

Would go a long way toward making shows feel more "equal".

Evil Vito 12-24-2020 09:26 AM

I hope some guys can get a change in direction in 2021. Miro of course, he should be murdering people at the beach during the wedding. But there are others.

Would be great if fans can be back in full force by Double or Nothing, but it's impossible to guess timelines. Vaccines not only need to be rolled out long enough for everyone who wants one to get one but also there will need to be enough time to look at cases and make sure they are actually dropping as hoped before the flood gates can be safely reopened. But whether it's May or later in the summer I hope every company can use it as a clean slate to do a reboot, feel like there will be red hot crowds all over the country since people will just be glad to be able to do things again...so it's a good time to try new things.

Jordan 12-24-2020 09:45 AM

I can see an event with fans in Jacksonville by summer but I don't think we will have AEW or WWE on the road properly all year. I hope I'm wrong though.

I think when AEW was born there were too many guys and girls signed with MLW/ROH/IMPACT that should have been in AEW. And others that were available took the safe bet of going with WWE/NXT. So with that we have a lot of unproven talent on the roster. Add in the pandemic and we got chopped down even more to unsigned or undiscovered US talent because we couldn't get international workers over. I really hope Ethan Page, Mance Warner and even Tessa Blanchard end up in AEW and that AEW makes some cuts at the end of current deals.
