Mr. Monday Morning 07-17-2004 07:20 PM

We beat Tromso 3-2

Dazz 07-17-2004 07:22 PM

We beat Tromso 7-1 back in the day. We lost 3-2 away though

Mr. Monday Morning 07-17-2004 08:39 PM

And now you can't even beat Oxford :nono: What went wrong down at the Bridge :nono:

Mr. Monday Morning 07-17-2004 08:40 PM

Fucking great free kick from Tevez btw

Dazz 07-17-2004 09:11 PM

I was just about to say that, one of the best free kicks I have ever seen, everyone has to watch that goal, Fabiano's Vs Paragauy and Peru's against Bolivia (I think it was them, the game ended 2-2), and one of Bolivia's against Peru, all outstanding goals. The positioning from Tevez couldn't have been any better. Shame he never does anything that good for Boca Juniors, he was linked with United last year, but they have enough attackers now.

What I found interesting is that the Boca Juniors keeper was in goal for Argentina, and when River Plate and Boca Juniors played in the Copa Libertadores last month there was a ruck and the Boca Keeper had scratches on his face after it, dunno if anyone in the Argentinian squad was responsible for it.

Lost £3 though  I bet £2 on Peru to win, 50p each on 2-1 and 2-0 to Argentina. Solano's free kick was also fucking good, two inches lower and it would have been a beauty.

Oxstar 07-18-2004 09:26 AM

Argentinian football is too dangerous, Crystal Palace beat some Northern Irish team called Glentoran 5-0 Andy Johnson hat trick and Tommy Black with 2 goals, but it don't really count for much:D

Dazz 07-18-2004 03:18 PM

Fulham have signed Andy Cole

Drogba is expected to sign for Chelsea this week. I hope he does, he is the player I am most looking forward to seeing next year.

Oxstar 07-18-2004 03:26 PM

Souness just didn't like Yorke or Cole. If he just played them together more and hope he didn't have so many injuries Blackburn would have done better. Great signing for Fulham as long as Coleman remembers to play him.

Dazz 07-18-2004 03:42 PM

Souness didn't bring Yorke on a tour of Germany and said he is his sixth choice attacker. LOL.

Skeletor2 07-18-2004 05:31 PM

Newcastle actually won a penalty shootut today :). Flawless penalties apparently.

You kidding me right? Souness was the only guy who was willing to give them a second chance. The problem is Yorke. At Man United, he got on Ferguson's bad side and burnt a bridge and his little boyfriend Cole cried too like a little bitch. Souness thought he got a good deal on Yorke when United would have given him away for free at that point. He has no heart what so ever. He never had one good game the entire time at Blackburn. He only ever performed in one big game for Man United too. We would have never had won the treble without them but they aren't big game players. £60,000 a week for those two pieces of sh</>it? No wonder they didn't want to leave. If I was making that money and was a treble winner, I'd be damn embarrassed if a player from the 3rd division came into the team and outplayed me.

Cole will probably be sh</>it at Fulham but maybe he can do something when he isn't hanging around his boy toy pal.

The only mistake Souness made after signing them was NOT breaking their legs in training. They are a pair of cry baby bitches and the quikcer their careers are over, the better for everyone.

Dazz 07-18-2004 06:37 PM

I always say toy boy, and not boy toy. I thought it was worth pointing that out.

Dazz 07-18-2004 06:57 PM

WOOOOOO this week has been good, i stuck a fiver in my bet365.com account, bet £2 on paragauy winning against Brazil and won £10, then I stuck a fiver each way on Phil Mickelson to win the golf and I won £12.25, lost £3 last night on the Peru Vs the Argies game, but stuck £2.50 on Uruaguy to win and will win a fiver.

Overall I am nearly £30 up within the last week

I don't know if this will accomplish anything but there's a petition to change the Football League names back.

Wengerland 07-19-2004 05:59 AM

Brazil won 4-0 against Mexico. Anyone know the semi final draw?

Skeletor2 07-19-2004 06:17 AM

Brazil - Uruguay
Argentina - Colombia

Wengerland 07-19-2004 06:24 AM

Cheers :y:

Brazil vs Argentina final looks most likely.

Skeletor2 07-19-2004 06:26 AM

That would be like a main event final for the first time in ages :)

The Mask 07-19-2004 11:11 AM

It is just before the next United v cITEH derby

Ronaldo goes into the United changing room to find all his team mates
looking
a bit glum.

"What's up?" he asks. "Well, we're having trouble getting motivated for this
game. We know it's important but it's only cITEH. They're crap and we
can't be bothered".

Ronnie looks at them and says

"Well, I reckon I can beat these by myself, you lads go down the pub."

So Ronaldo goes out to play cITEH by himself and the rest of the
team go off for a few pints.

After a few jars they wonder how the game is going, so they get the landlord
to put the teletext on. A big cheer goes up as the screen reads United 1 ( Ronaldo 10 mins ) cITEH 0

He is beating cITEH all by himself! Anyway, a few more pints later and
the
game is forgotten until someone remembers.

"It must be full time now, let's see how he got on".

They put the teletext on.

"Result from Old Trafford " United 1 ( Ronaldo 10 mins ) cITEH 1 ( Bertie Magoo 89 mins )

They can't believe it; he has single handedly got a draw against cITEH

They rush back to the Stadium to congratulate him. They find him in the
dressing room, still in his gear, sat with his head in his hands.

He refuses to look at them.

"I've let you down, I've let you down."

"Don't be daft, you got a draw against cITEH, all by yourself. And they
only scored at the very very end!

"No, No, I have, I've let you down...

I got sent off after 12 minutes "

LK 07-19-2004 12:59 PM

lol at The Mask's post

Oxstar 07-19-2004 01:11 PM

Who's Bertie Magoo?

Oxstar 07-19-2004 01:19 PM

Question for Dazz

Is Didier Drogba really that good? I saw him score some good goals in the Uefa cup for Marseille but is he really worth £24m?

http://www.skysports.com/skysports/a...143851,00.html

Cactus Sid 07-19-2004 01:54 PM

Drogba looks quality, but I think its another case of Chelsea buying the flavour of the month

Dazz 07-19-2004 02:30 PM

Yes, he is the man, and is the only signing in the summer that I am really pleased about Kezman is good but hasn't proved himself in Europe, I think Drogba showed last year in Europe that he is the man. If it wasn't for the fact that no players Chelsea future is certain for more then a season I would get Drogba on the back of my Chelsea shirt.

Drogba is the fucking man, I hope he is our first choice attacker next year. And tubby tubby lala (The nickname given to Gudjohnsen by the bloke behind me at the Bridge) is fourth choice.

Oxstar 07-19-2004 03:17 PM

I thought Mutu was really good, but he missed a few good chances then couldn't get into the first team :nono:

Wengerland 07-19-2004 03:21 PM

Kezman had a better record at PSV than van Nistelrooy i think, him and Drogba should be a good partnership.

I think they've paid over the odds for Drogba, bearing in mind he's just had one good season and there's a lot of reports that he was being offered to English clubs for £4 million or something like that less than a year ago. That said, having seen him last season he is a player i'm looking forward to seeing this year.

Dazz 07-19-2004 03:25 PM

Quote:

Mutu still is the man, he just needs to find form.

And yes Wengerland Drogba was offered for 4million last year, thats roughly what Marsielle paid for him.

Wengerland 07-19-2004 04:11 PM

Thought so. Just find it hard to believe that he's moving for around £10 million more than the leading scorer in the French league last year, Djibrel(sp?) Cisse. Then there's the fact that his price has gone up £20 million in the space of 1 year so i think Chelsea have been a bit hard done by, their original offer seemed good enough.

With Abrahmovich i guess it doesn't matter so much, then there's this Tiago deal which just seems pointless.I've heard Benfica want £10 million but read last week that Chelsea would buy him for 6 and then review his contribution after a year, if good then they'll keep him and pay an extra £2.5 million but if he's not needed then he'll go back to Benfica for £2 million :|. If that's the case then Kenyon seems happy to waste a lot of money.

Dazz 07-19-2004 04:17 PM

When you spend £30million on two players and loan them to big Italian clubs, it shows you the people in charge are useless tossers.

Cactus Sid 07-19-2004 04:20 PM

Kenyon is the spawn of the devil

Dazz 07-19-2004 04:30 PM

Some say he reminds them of Smeagel from Lord Of The Rings

Cactus Sid 07-19-2004 04:31 PM

Yes....I can see why

Rob 07-19-2004 06:34 PM

Put it this way, I wanted Drogba at Man U.

Cactus Sid 07-19-2004 06:52 PM

I was watching Sky Sports earlier, and some French "expert" was saying that Drogba could work really well with an out and out striker (such as Kezman)

I think if those 2 click, Chelsea could do something special next season, although I am still really skeptical about Mourinho

Ferocious 07-19-2004 09:34 PM

Funny you should say that because Boro were in talks with him before Man Utd resorted to their usual underhand poaching tactics.

Dazz 07-19-2004 10:40 PM

I know that, Boro were very close to signing him, and I think Forlan made the wrong choice.

Sorry but that's wrong. Middlesborough put in a bid for him, he flew over for talks but shortly before he got on the plane, he got word Man United put in a bigger bid and he went to Manchester Airport instead. At no point did he hold talks with Boro other than agreeing to fly over. How putting in a bigger bid for a player is underhand poaching is beyond me. Poaching is funny too considering Jaap Stam and Ruud Van Nistelroory cost us over £33 million (which PSV were never going to refuse) and Dwight Yorke cost £13 million and John Gregory laughed at the time saying he was willing to accept £8 million if they made a take it or leave it offer.

Not saying Alex Ferguson and co haven't talked to players when they shouldn't have but every club does it, even those who think they get screwed.

Dazz 07-20-2004 02:27 PM

Jaap Stam admitted he was tapped in his autobiography, poaching is the wrong word to use, but you sure as hell tap people. Forlan was probably tapped, but thats not been proven, Bellion was certainly tapped. Another thing United do is make it public that you like a player and deliberatly try to unsettle them, like Smith, Saha, Ferdinand and there are probably more.

The Nistelrooy situation was handled disastrously by you too, inviting him to train with you for six months or whatever it was.

Rob 07-20-2004 02:46 PM

Yeah we did great deals with Smith and Ferdinand. If they never went to Man U, it would have cost any other team at least £6 million less to sign them. Clubs love it when Man U come in for players because they always are priced over the top.

Dazz 07-20-2004 02:53 PM

you got Smith for £7million, bollocks would another club have got him for anything like £1million. You must have a short term memory if you have forgotten that other teams offered much more for Smith then United.

Rob 07-20-2004 04:39 PM

What teams where these then? I don't recall any team other than Everton even making a bid this year and there's wasn't straight up cash hence why he went to Man U.

yianni 07-21-2004 04:24 AM

Some rumour that Rivaldo has gone to Athens in Greece to talk to a few clubs.

Don't know if this is true or not, I just read it somewhere before. :|

yianni 07-21-2004 08:14 AM

A friend of mine just told me he heard on Greek radio that Rivaldo's going to sign for Olympiakos tomorrow. :|

Ferocious 07-21-2004 09:06 AM

Rivaldo is waaaaaaaaaaay past it now

Oxstar 07-21-2004 12:23 PM

I think Rivaldo will still be good for a season or 2. What's the deal with Palace signing Hungarians? we are been linked with a third Hungarin called Zoltan Gera like WTF? It's a good thing I trust Iain Dowie's judgement. I hope we sign Marlon Harewood from West Ham.

Oxstar 07-21-2004 12:36 PM

So Newcastle have signed Patrick Kluivert on a three year deal. I wonder how much he's getting paid and if he can cut it in the premiership?

I don't have a list handly, Inter Milan definitley made a bid, and at least one other English club did but I can't remember who it was. Leeds could have got more but didn't because Smith refused to go anywhere but United, and only did this because you publicly expressed interest in him.

Mr. Monday Morning 07-21-2004 02:15 PM

Tiago has signed for Chelsea.

Bolton have increased their bid for Camara by £200k and been told to fuck off, to put it bluntly. I'm just sick of it now, to be honest we might as well take whatever we can get for the twat and be done with it. He's a major reason we were relegated (shite defending being the first, but him being unable to hit a cow's arse with a banjo for the first 30 odd games of the season cost us a good few points) and he doesn't want to stay around and help fix what he's responsible for, so fuck him.

Dazz 07-21-2004 02:17 PM

Well United only scored one goal past you all season.

Us on the other hand scored ten past you..:D

Regardless of the bullshit excuses he's been giving for wanting to leave (won't be African Footballer of the Year 2005? :wtf: ). Regardless of the fact that the vast majority of the fanbase stuck by him through the first 3/4 or so of the season when to put it bluntly, he was shite, and yet he now seems to think he owes us nothing in return, even though he has absolutely no right to be doing what he is doing, legally or morally.

Just so we're clear and all.

If Forlan turned round tomorrow and demanded a move to Real or somewhere because he wanted to have a better chance of winning the Champions League, I'm sure everyone at Old Trafford would be very understanding and not get annoyed at all :|

Rob 07-21-2004 06:45 PM

I would want him to stay cos I love the long haired bastard but if any player left who I thought tried for Man U then I'd wish them well. I actually would cheer Mark Hughes when he scored AGAINST United when he left.

Mr. Monday Morning 07-21-2004 06:59 PM

But he's not just 'leaving'...he's *demanding* to be sold when the club made it clear ages ago they wanted him to stay and help us get back up. Yes he did try, but right now his attitude absolutely stinks, and has pretty much counterbalanced any amount of effort he put in last season.

Rob 07-21-2004 07:06 PM

Yeah but you are Wolves and we are Man United. I can kinda see your point from Dundee's side but even then, I'd want him to leave at that point and forget about him.

Yeah, its like Defoe wanted to leave last year so he stuck in a transfer request at West Ham. West Ham didnt want to sell him so they kept him for half of the season and he ended up scoring loads of goals.

Camara had his transfer request rejected and he's gone on strike because of it. Thats not the way to go about things. Im actually suprised Bolton want him considering the way he's acted. Id stop paying his wages, play Ganea and Cort and when Wolves get promoted again and he decides he wants to be part of the team, id sell him to some shitty Latvian club or something . Millwall's highly rated midfielder Tim Cahill is poised to join Premiership outfit Everton after agreeing terms with Toffees boss David Moyes.

A deal will be concluded within the next 24 hours - with the Championship club having reluctantly agreed to release Cahill for a £2 million fee.

Ogen 07-22-2004 03:01 PM

Pointless really, we're getting enough grandad jokes as it is. Still it's talent that matters and Harry Redknapp was interested towards the end of last season so he felt Keown could still do a good job in the premiership and he's normally a good judge of players. It gives us more depth in a position we were short in too, so it's not too bad.

Connolly is shit

Wengerland 07-22-2004 08:30 PM

He's a good division 1 forward though, he scored 14 goals last year and was considered to have had a bad year, and that's often playing behind the strikers. He also scored loads despite being in a crap Wimbledon side the year before.

Considering people were getting mad over Dickov scoring 20, i reckon he'll be fine.

Rob 07-23-2004 06:23 AM

Dickov is a solid professional though. Connelly is a crybaby bastard.

Rob 07-23-2004 06:37 AM

Diego Forlan looks like he is going to Athletico Madrid :(

Wengerland 07-23-2004 07:31 AM

I just lost a lot of respect for Dickov after he left despite us offering a new improved contract, standing by him after La Manga and giving him a break in his career from Man City's reserves.I can appreciate that premiership football is more attractive but he's not going to win anything at Blackburn and may not be first choice, with Stead and Gallacher being groomed for the future. Only other thing is his international future but even then Vogts has shown that he'll pick first division players.

As long as Connolly scores the goals for us then i don't really care about his behaviour off the pitch. He chose us over a club managed by the guy who gave him his international debut, so i'm guessing they got on well, which should mean that Micky Adams is a good manager and person in Connolly's view.

Dickov didn't do anything wrong in La Manga. You know? Charges dropped. Why in the blue hell would anyone in their right mind want to drop down a division at the tail end of their careers when they have better offers in the top league? He had a contract with you and he didn't have to accept another one. Don't know how you can get relegated and yet offer players like him improved deals. Maybe he was on a crappy one to start with. Remember who put the clause in his contract which made him available to talk to other clubs if a fixed price was made,

Remember who put the clause in his contract which made him available to talk to other clubs if a fixed price was made,

The fact that there was an incident is bad enough, you don't see every other club involved in stuff that severe.Anyway all i say is i lost some respect for him.

The parachute payments meant we could offer him a new deal.

So Palace tried too sign Harewood and Carrick, hopefully we will offer some more for them or they will hand in transfer requests.

I can't see them handing in transfer requests over Palace i'm afraid.Sorry man :$

Good to see Palace showing more ambition though, i think if there's no more bids in a week or so then they'll probably accept that £2.5 million for Carrick, they can't really afford to hold clubs to ransom with him in the last year of his contract.

Celtic might make a loan bid fort Henri Camara, they may have done so already but i'm not sure.

Claus Jensen has gone to Fulham for £1.25 mill, good signing in my view.

Camara (according to the official site anyway) was at Molineux yesterday for more talks and will be at training on Monday. So I dunno :-\

Still shocked Jensen went to Fulham. Don't know what the point of that move is.
I think Fulham might go down this season.

Granted that he was on form last season... I'm not complaining!

Loan deal to Celtic?

Mr. Monday Morning 07-25-2004 02:38 PM

It's been mentioned in the press a few times, aye.

To be honest I don't know what Celtic are thinking more than anything else, Camara is not the man to replace Larsson :| But if they want to pay us to loan him and find that out we should bite their friggin hand off :D

Is anyone watching the Copa America final?

Oxstar 07-26-2004 11:46 AM

I can't believe Marc Overmars has retired, he's only 31, he was one of my favorite players :'( , I know Arsenal only sold him to Barcelona cause he had a bad knee.

Arsenal were laughing to the bank when they over sold Overmars and Petit.

Wengerland 07-26-2004 04:14 PM

Nicky Butt is said to be close to moving to Newcastle for £2.5 million.
