You have a point, that filler matches with no context can seem a bit dry, outside of the match itself. But the alternative is what you see in WWE, where we have the same match for weeks. Sometimes for months.

I'd rather have a couple filler matches sprinkled in between the feud matches, rather than see the same bouts ad nauseum.

Very true, there has to be some kind of middle ground that would work better for both.

Very true. The thing about "filler" matches is that they can and should eventually lead to something more. WWE has essentially no filler matches and AEW has too many filler matches that go nowhere or take sometime take a little too long to lead to something. Both could do better.
