This show being two hours is great... Feels like a "PPV" but is only two hours, leaving me wanting much more... And so many wrestlers who have still yet to appear, meaning it'll be hard for it to get old/boring
|
I am usually not a fan of the Young Bucks but I have enjoyed this match
|
Meltzer Driver turns into the Codebreaker. Love it. Fun finish.
|
Oh man this is so awesome. I love The Young Bucks.
|
Nick just pulled off a Cesaro.
|
6-man tag match was pretty great overall.
|
Cody switched in to executive attire?
Okay. |
There's Swagger.
|
He looks excellent too!
|
Goldy
|
Jack Swagger is no Lex Luger, but it'll be interesting to see what he can do if he's motivated, and he's a "big" dude, which the AEW roster needs.
|
Jim Ross just said HOLY SHIT
|
 Sports Illustrated was actually right for once with a scoop.
Guess the "Swaggie Time" gif can finally come out of retirement. https://media.giphy.com/media/vI0pxOwFcDVrG/giphy.gif |

We the people chant. Ah, memories. |
Jake Hager, bah gawd!

The Champion won a non title match and looked like the Champion.......i dont know how to react

That was a really fun first episode!

Wrestling works best when there's a big heel stable at the center of things.
|
That was a great show, Wednesday fixin' to be the shit
|
Sweet show... damn... really glad
|
That was great, good hook for Week 2
|
Loved that debut episode.
|
Wow... I did NOT see that coming. I like the idea of this massive stable trying to dominate. Can't wait to see how they flesh it out. Great first show. It wasn't like OMG THE BEST MATCHES EVER... but it was such a good wrestling show. Can't wait for more!
|
Gotta love Impact Wrestling and 2015 WWE Main Event closing the show
|
That felt good.
|
They literally swept the stuff from the table under the ring apron
|
Fun time once we got through the rough second half hour. Some rough spots to even out, but given how they've evolved across the first few special events, I have hopes there'll be some great adjustments and improvements as the weeks go on. It has a very different feel from everything else, even NXT, which is neat.
Probably going to stick with watching AEW live because I can just watch NXT on the network tomorrow. If AEW consistently has a replay immediately afterwards, that might open the door a bit. Just happy to have two really strong products, assuming AEW matches their potential, in NXT and AEW. |
3 more matches
|
Hager without WWE’s shit booking could be a star. Love this.
|
Loved it. I feel the talent can get rested unlike in WWE. No wasted having someone holding a cup in the background shit yet.
|
8 man tag hybrid 2 and lucha Bros vs private party and best friends with OC

Jack Evans fell flat on his face getting in the ring
I really hope a gif of this comes out or video |

Even though Ted Turner has no involvement I can imagine Vince is eating his own shirt yelling GODDAMN YOU TED TURNER
|
Pretty sweet stable of guys Jericho has assuming it sticks.
Very entertaining show overall and even better, AEW managed to fix all the production issues that plagued their earlier PPVs while managing to feel different enough from WWE's TV style. Also happy that if AEW's debut show is any indication, its going to easily fill the void left by Lucha Underground for my weekly wrestling watching. |

You are such an awkward try hard. Lol |
Good show. Hearing Tony and JR together is weird but great. Like hearing WCW and WWF mixed together.
Flipped over to NXT during a few commercial breaks and thought the AEW show was more appealing. Going to watch NXT fully now. |

Lucha Underground killed a lot of my Swagger enthusiasm but he'd definitely work as a big enforcer type for a big stable rather than trying to give him a big push solo.

No one cares about this anti AEW gimmick you're trying to establish |
Next week: debut of the <s>Swagger Soaring Eagle</s> Hager Hovering Hawk

Love decently sized heel stables. WWE won't commit to OC/Roode, Ziggler |

I liked Jack Swagger enough. Always had a lot of potential. It's hard to get excited about him though. Big dude with a hot wife. I'm happy for him getting another shot.

Love having Schiavone back. I got the replay going in the background. It brings back so many fond childhood memories of racing my bike back home to put Nitro on.

Allie and Britt Baker vs Bea Priestley and Penelope Ford
|
So that's the first two hours (and full show) of any wrestling product I've watched since WM and overall it was incredibly more interesting/entertaining than anything I've seen from WWE in years.
Yes, there was a lot of talent I didn't know, and it wasn't all great and had some slow segments/spots, but I'm actually really looking forward to next week's episode. If only to just see where things go from here, and ideally, long term they continue to improve/deliver on what we got tonight, and they develop/flesh out and I learn and invest more into the characters and feuds. One thing I loved was that they setup so many potential future feuds and matches, and (without having the show be a complete clusterfuck,) each separate story line and feud wasn't treated and didn't feel completely disjointed or unconnected to the others and the overall show. This show was a great start. |
I wouldn't object to Mike Tenay doing a one off pre ppv show with JR and Tony.

Fairly impressed with Penelope Ford. I've not seen her actually wrestle before

He’s got the look, he’s fine in the ring and he’s got that MMA legitimacy now. Especially with the size of most guys today, if booked right, he’s gonna be an awesome throwback heel. |

I assumed there wasn’t any way this new wrestling company, even with the hype behind it, had a shot at beating a show with the WWE name in the ratings. The clear interest advantage online tonight does make me wonder though. |
Yeah, I'll be curious to see if they can keep improving and build off of this.

The Elite aren't booking themselves as unbeatable is already fucking awesome. |

They’ve also got the star power advantage. I just don’t know how much that matters since the existing mainstream audience pool isn’t exactly huge at the moment.
|
I noticed how instead of devoting whole additional segments to moving forward a storyline, they instead slotted them into existing segments. This really stuck out with Mox/Omega, but it's also the case for the women's title match where they both (awkwardly) had Britt Baker on commentary and then had Nyla Rose attack Michael Nakazawa and attempt to take out Riho after the match
It lets the show move along much more comfortably without sacrificing giving people a reason to tune in next week. |
The Dark match 8 man tag would have been better than the MJF match. timewise they could have got it in. The MJF match just felt out of place

Even in terms of amount of stuff in the Top 10, took NXT a while to get more than 1 thing trending highly. Cole vs Gargano was a bust if the idea was for it to help generate more top trends in favor of NXT. |
Enjoying the replay instead of watching a horror movie.

I am not sure what you are trying to say. Tweets matter because WWE says they matter, Tweets matter because AEW had more? One show was better than the other show. Tweets don't mean anything. |
Something that I've noticed on the 2nd viewing is there's long air time where Tony is quiet. I wonder if he's reviewing the notes where he has to go interview between the matches? Hopefully they can utilize Crhis Van Vliet more for that role going forward.
|
So giddy. Really loved this show.
|
I'm a little biased. I've always thought Vliet's interviews were top notch.

Debating whether I should go to the Indy or Chicago show. Indy is a hop skip but I'm sure the Chi Town crowd would make that show funner.

Compairing AEW to NXT makes AEW seem like bush league. Tacticlaly a smart move from the WWE to put then against one another.

As much as I can dig all the gushing about Schiavone in this thread, I can still recall when he was phoning it in the last few years on WCW TV. Calling everything a sidewalk slam and whatnot. Interesting turn from touting him ironically to genuine nostalgic feels.
|
1. The last 2 years of WCW sucked
2. He had to work with Heenan who gave no fucks |
AEW was like a good 2 hour PPV.

I thought it was a good show and I typically don't watch anything other than WWE. I don't like how they have a commentator with a mask, that's so silly. I also can't stand big impact moves not being finishers. The first match seemed to have like 5 spots where the match should have ended. I just don't like the reliance on false finishes that these "minor" leagues do.
I do think this was a great start. JR and Shiavoni were great. |
Did not watch "live", but just finished watching now.... show was an alright start... nothing overly goofy other than me thinking "lol the minute any casual curious person tuned in and saw Sammy Guevara in a panda hat, they just immediately turned it off"
Otherwise it was good. Nothing too outstanding, but nothing that made me want to kill myself. Was "PrettyCool" to hear Jim Ross and especially Tony Schiavone again. Oh, and in Canada they did not go to picture-in-picture for the commercial breaks, but just went to commercial. |

NXT had the best tag match of the night. NXT had the best women's match of the night. AEW had more tweets. Yeah, AEW wins, clearly :rofl::rofl: |
I mean in this day and age, more tweets is winning.
