Does owenbrown have a favorite baseball team?
Does owenbrown even like baseball? |
1.Owenbrown's fav team is whoever is playing against your favourite team.
2. Owenbrown watches baseball because he enjoys latino men. |
Is this true, Owen?
|
That's what Owen told me over brunch
|
I wonder if I still get mlb.tv
|
oh Nationals vs Reds is my free game of the day

Hate the changes to MLB.com's gameday. Want them to bring back pitch types for a pitcher. I can still see what he just threw, but I like clicking on a pitcher, seeing what hes thrown this year/game.
|
Braves about to sweep the Cubbies.
|
Mike Morse won't stop hitting dingers.
|
Big Willie Style all wit it
|
Tampa's bats just can't compete with anybody in that division. They need to suck it up and call up Wil Myers. Cleveland is beating the shit out of them.
|
Very interested to see how that Tampa/KC trade works out for both teams.
|
Kansas City is doing just fine without Myers. They've scored 24 runs and counting against the Phillies this weekend, with Billy Butler having 7 RBI today.

Exactly. They're being cheap with service time. It didn't stop Boston from calling up Jackie Bradley, didn't stop the Marlins from calling up Jose Fernandez. Those teams saw they had a need and said fuck the service time.
|
Look, Frank. I'm finally having a conversation with you.
|
It might have happened sooner, but I hated baseball due to certain circumstances this winter. Happy to be back though. |

I know they got a great deal on Longoria, but have they been able to keep anyone else they wanted to? They trade Price this year too, right? |
Two out of three against the Yankees and then the Blue Jays. Great start of the season for the new look Red Sox. Home opener at Fenway tomorrow against the Os.

So much for the worries about the Red Sox having HR problems. Hit 6 of them today with Middlebrooks having 3 of them.
Dickey not having the knuckleball being effective is a really bad sign for Toronto. When Wakefield used to struggle early in a season, it would carry on for almost the whole season. |
I take the Price comment back, hes still arb eligible......I think.
Moore's deal was still pretty team friendly though, right? 5 years and $14 mil thru 2016 with team options of $7, $9, $10 for '17-'19. Thats not out of this world. Trying to figure out if they've ever had a guy "get away" through free agency. |
So why don't they call up Myers and then lock him up early?

Formerly Fausto Carmona...lol...forgot about him. Was looking at Tampa's depth chart and was like "Huh, I don't remember seeing this Roberto Hernandez guy in their system....."

Somewhat a victim of their own success considering outside of Longoria, the majority of their success the past few years was because of pitching. Even when they lost some quality pitching, they were able to replace it pretty easily. |

The Yankees beat the Tigers, with Verlander on the hill, AND it's a shutout?!
I think I might have a heart attack. |
love baseball
|
Well that was a nice treat. Went to the Tigers/Yankees game yesterday to see Verlander/Sabathia and all-around baseball goodness. I got a little sauced and I don't remember about 2/3 of the game but I did get to see Miriano Rivera pitch so that's something I can cross off my sports bucket list at least. Also, how the hell do you lose to that Yankees lineup. Yeesh.

Waiting to call up top prospects is hardly "cheap". If you wait just 3 weeks into the regular season to make the call up, you get an entire extra year of service time for them. The Rays waited to call up Longoria just as they are with Myers - wouldn't shock me at all if Myers gets a long term contract not long after his debut.
The Red Sox can afford to get away with calling up Bradley immediately because they know that if he sets the world on fire, they'll still be in a position to re-sign him to his first official big money deal. The Marlins only called up Fernandez because they had an insane amount of injuries, and even then they're getting panned. If they didn't have so many injuries, he'd be starting in Double A right now. Instead they're burning a whole extra year of service time in a season where they're not likely to contend. |
Most Mets fans are understanding about Zack Wheeler and Travis d'Arnaud starting in Triple A. First off, there are valid baseball reasons for it (Wheeler's got some command issues he still needs to work out and d'Arnaud barely has any Triple A experience) but moreover it's just not worth sacrificing a whole year of service for an extra 3 weeks in the big leagues. Not when the team is realistically not in the same stratosphere as the top 2 teams in their own division.
It's been a non-issue anyway since the Mets' catching corps has been great so far, as has the starting pitching outside of Laffey's start yesterday. Wheeler and d'Arnaud will both be at Citi Field at some point this season. Be cool if they both debuted in the same game, actually. |
I don't care if people think he did steroids, I've always been a mark for Cisco Cervelli.

Edwin Jackson looking rough today in the Cubs home opener. :-\

Nori Aoki is beasting right now. 7 for his last 7.

Not worried about Dickey yet, but sure would like to see him string a bunch of wins together.

Nobody is sports does "Nobody believed in us" better than the Red Sox and their fans so it's perfect for them.

<3 Ernie Banks
Len Kasper: So, how are ya, Ernie? Ernie Banks: Ready to play two! <3 <3 <3 |
 Red Sox win the home opener over the Os.
8 or 9 years in a row they've won the home opener I think. |
I'm tempted to go down and catch part of the Jays/Tigers series but it's gonna be a bitch of a drive up and down. Might just wait 'til they come up here and see them at the Skydome (fuck Rogers)

Matt Harvey is on fucking fire right now.

Ok, I'm almost certain Justin Upton wins NL MVP now. Somebody tell Miami to grab the brooms.
|
Halladay :'(

Worst call of the year so far in the Rays/Rangers game. Ump rings up Zobrist on a 3-2 pitch in the dirt.

Already 1/3 to his total from last year, 1 week into the season! lol

Fuck Umpires.

If Marty Foster would've blown a call like that against the White Sox, Hawk Harrelson would've gone apeshit.
He probably would've physically attacked him. Terrible. |
Phillies :D

You're going to have to pick a team pretty soon

Sweeps week for the Braves.

The Phillies always own the Mets. :(

I'm really loving this whole "not having a bullpen" strategy Detroit is employing this year. It worked so well for them last year. I see good things this year.

Oz scored 5 off hanrahan in the 9th capped by a bases loaded wild pitch to tie the game and a next pitch machado 3 run blast over the monster.
|
The remaining sox fans were all hekling the o's batters who went up and got hits/ drew walks. The fans reaction behind the plate when machado hit the hr was priceless..they all threw their hands up..
|
watched the last three innings of the o's game vs the redsox game

I don't want the Rockies to play the Giants anymore. It's not fun.
|
The reigning and defending world champion Giants.
|
Don't fret Dave, the Braves will beat them for you.
|
Supposedly trade talks have been heating up between the Mets and Marlins over Giancarlo Stanton. The Mets would be willing to part with Wheeler AND d'Arnaud to get a deal done.
Uh...holy shit? |
seems like a good call for everyone involved
|
His talent is wasting in Miami anyways so why not send him somewhere else?
|
Losing those guys would suck, Wheeler especially. But...Stanton. He's younger than both of them and he'd probably increase Wright's batting average by 30 points.
