Requiem 11-03-2008 04:43 AM

August Rush - 10/10

One of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. Anyone with an appreciation for music will love this. I teared up several times during this movie.

Requiem 11-03-2008 07:09 AM

Forgetting Sarah Marshall 8/10

Pretty good movie. Funny, but not over the top.

Journey to the Center of the Earth 7/10

NeanderCarl 11-03-2008 03:01 PM

Ghost Town

7/10

Enjoyable but not laugh-out-loud funny that often. A few chuckles but more a highly watchable film than an hilarious one.

PorkSoda 11-03-2008 10:14 PM

Naked Gun 7/10.

First time actually seeing the first one. Big Leslie Neilson fan, so give it a 7.

D Mac 11-04-2008 11:33 AM

WTF Porksoda

It's 10/10 easily

New Avengers - 7/10

A fun animated adventure that sees the children of the Avengers take on their parent's killer and bringer of world subjugation, Ultron. In many ways the Marvel version of Teen Titans without the quasi-anime style. It would certainly merit a TV series should they continue this story. I also kept finding myself trying to tie this with the Ultimate Avengers movie that came before; though no clear evidence is present, its not impossible to think of it that way. The plot is Cartoon Network ho-hum 'kid-power', but fairly straight forward. I enjoyed it overall.

Resident Evil: Extinction - 4/10

Spoilers Ahead: Fucking stupid. You just know they're in trouble when they force down bits from the first (and best) RE film just for a pathetic attempt at continuity. Sorry, doesn't work. RE:E's setting is too far gone from what the first two established. I didn't like RE:A because it followed the game too closely, and in this third installment the movie series abandons game continuity. I'd think that would be a good thing, but now I feel they should have used some game plots. This movie does not know what to do with itself. There are scenes totally disconnected with the rest of the film. It was more like a series of short films; I expect titles saying "Episode One: Alice vs Hillbillies", and "Episode Two: Alice Dreams of Crap". Seriously, the first 5 minutes was utterly useless. Then when an actual plot gets going, you don't care (see how important the five minute rule is?). Characters are killed off seemingly for no reason other than to force an eventual reboot of the series, and Alice's character enters some pseudo Jean Grey-Phoenix level of presentation that I cannot follow as a sympathizer. Oh yeah, her blood was the cure for the T-Virus all along. Paul Anderson, thank you for Mortal Kombat, now stop writing.

Quantum of Solace - 7/10

Trying too hard to be Jason Bourne.

XL 11-09-2008 05:58 PM

The Incredible Hulk 8/10

(Would have been a 7 but got an extra point for the Tony Stark cameo)

ClockShot 11-09-2008 08:10 PM

Meet Bill - 4.5/5

A must grab for Aaron Eckhart fans. It's also the first movie I appreciate Jessica Alba's acting.

The only thing I remember about P2 was when you first see the villain, cause my friend shouted out, "He's the P2! RUN AWAY!"

OssMan 11-10-2008 08:53 PM

Iron Man 6/10

XL 11-10-2008 10:30 PM

Wow. That's a pretty low score for Iron Man (considering how well received it was).

PorkSoda 11-11-2008 06:17 PM

Iron Man 2/10

Seriously, I saw this in theatres and thought it was horrible. Just watched it again today, rented it, thought it was even worse. After the blowup scene in the beginning, it gets extremely boring. All talk, not enough action, and even the action scenes weren't that great. I turned it off 45 minutes in cause thats how bored I was.

ClockShot 11-11-2008 06:32 PM

Changeling - 4.5/5

Jeff Donovan and John Malkovich brought their A-game to this. Another stellar directing job by Clint.

didnt RDJ sign on for something like 3 films? they have to do the backstory and character build up. i felt that there could have been more action too but i assumed there would be plenty in the second and third plus future Avenger movie tie-ins.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

3/10

Fucking waste of time.

Kalyx triaD 11-12-2008 04:20 AM

TMNT - 7/10

Shredder would've added 2 points but... yeah. Okay movie. But I gotta say, April O'Neal as Ninja... very mixed feelings.

Role Models: 7.5/10

FearedSanctity 11-12-2008 06:49 AM

Repo! The Genetic Opera 9/10

Amazing. Any movie that can make Paris Hilton even SLIGHTLY attractive to me is good in my book. Anthony Head, Sarah Brightman and all the songs were just awesome

Nark Order 11-12-2008 01:30 PM

Meet Bill 8/10

Awesome movie and just a perfect role for Aaron Eckhart. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this movie. Definitely worth the rent or buy.

Champion of Europa 11-12-2008 01:47 PM

Watching Slumdog Millionaire tonight, so I shall post in here when I get home.

The Incredible Hulk

7/10

So much better than that last one but still not up to par with shit like Batman Begins etc..

Harold and Kumar: Escape from GB

9/10

Saw the unrated version which had some parts that prolly needed to be left out but all in all it was fucking hysterical.. NPH is my hero..

Rolling Stone tore this movie apart in their review..

Destor 11-12-2008 06:06 PM

Anthony Stewart Head you say? Gotta see this.

Destor 11-12-2008 06:12 PM

Just watched a trailer, looks amazing.

Never actually read the review, but from what I'd heard about it, they basically trashed it because of Paris? Pretty lame reason, considering her role is kinda minor, and even then she really wasn't that bad, I'd even say she was good

Bad Company 11-13-2008 07:41 AM

Quantum of Solace 8/10 Great as a film, kinda shit as a Bond film.

Champion of Europa 11-13-2008 01:58 PM

Slumdog Millionaire - 10/10

Crazy heartwarming and also heartbreaking in bits. Such amazing cinematography, too. The guy who plays Salim and the guy who plays the host of the show could earn some best supporting actor nominations, I think. Everyone in this movie was so good.

Kevin Smith: Sold Out, A Threevening with Kevin Smith - 8/10

Some parts of it drag, but overall it's goddamned hysterical. Especially the story about Live Free, Die Hard.

PorkSoda 11-13-2008 04:21 PM

Max Payne 7/10.

Enjoyed it. Mark Walhberg has a deer-in-the-headlights-look in his moviies, and he did it in this and it made me laugh.

I'm hoping they keep the Bond aura of the films intact and not turn it into generic action movie series number 3529.

Requiem 11-14-2008 08:25 AM

The Girl Next Door
10/10

For a romance comedy, this was pretty solid. I guess I liked it so much because I was expecting it to be complete shit, and just another 'teen movie' like so many others. But it was genuinely funny, and I laughed out loud a LOT, which I don't usually do when I'm by myself.

PorkSoda 11-14-2008 08:49 AM

Role Models 7/10.

Kane Knight 11-14-2008 12:07 PM

Get Smart: 8/10. It could have been better, but Carrell is a great Smart, and I loved the chemistry.

Pan's Labyrinth: 10/10. Inspired, imaginative, and some FUCKED UP SHIT.

The Incredible Hulk: 7.5/10. Waaaaaay better than the Hulk, better than most comic book movies, but after Iron Man and Batman Begins, I can't rank it any higher.

Iron Man: 9/10. If it had a little more content, I would have probably given it a perfect score. Fucking loved it, though.

Jeritron 11-14-2008 12:13 PM

Quantum of Solace: 5.5/10
Had it's moments, and Craig is the goods...but ultimately a misfired mess

Kalyx triaD 11-14-2008 04:53 PM
