As noted they've put pressure on regarding who they want pushed, which is all cosmetic, or fame. The other frustration is that the people at the station seem to change their minds weekly when it comes to TV. While Impact hasn't been moved, there is a lot of questioning moving from Wednesday to Friday, which DA appeared to do because with Smackdown moving from Friday, they thought they would get the wrestling fans used to watching on that night. They were originally doing tons of replays and shoulder programming and now all the shoulder programming has been dropped and they are only airing TNA wrestling on Friday nights from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., with two airings of Impact and one airing of Unlocked at 1 a.m. Unlocked has now been moved from Saturday at 10 a.m. to Friday at 7 p.m. to Thursday at 1 a.m. (It was moved from Friday night to Thursday night last week with nobody even knowing, and then it never aired on Thursday due to a last minute change by the station) to Friday at 1 a.m. In addition TNA Greatest Matches show that aired on Saturdays has been dropped. They are apparently now all about just the Friday night first-show rating, although they are doing the automatic replay with the idea it gets the West Coast viewers. The feeling looks to be that all the other programming was hurting the Friday rating. If you remember when the deal was signed, Dixie Carter was pushing it as a station that would give them far more air time and more than just the two hour show every week. Now Carter is trying to push the idea that they will start creating more Internet content. The problem never was that they didn't have enough content, though.

The honeymoon is very much over. The Discovery channel signed TNA as an experiment and I was told that the experiment turned out very bad when it comes to generating ad revenue (and you can watch the shows and see the ads) and they expected far more viewers. Impact is, by far, the highest rated show in the history of the station, which on would think would be a huge positive for the company's standing. I guess they were expecting a far larger percentage of the loyal Spike audience to come with them. Destination America right now is in 61.7% of the homes Spike was in, but they are doing (in February as compared to February one year ago) 30.2% of the viewership for the first run show and even throwing in the first replay, you're getting less than half. But the channel has a ton to do with it when you go from a fairly strong channel (Spike) to a channel with maybe 15% of the viewership. UFC has never done close to Spike numbers on FS 1 even though FS 1 was in maybe 88% of the homes Spike was. It's just the nature of TV viewing. I think there was the feeling that wrestling is popular on TV, there were tons of fans used to watching wrestling on Friday nights and TNA's fan base as far as TV viewing was thought to be extremely loyal.

Pretty much looking at another ECW-TNN type situation. TNN was responsible for a lot of stuff that helped contribute to ECW's demise happening a lot soon than it should have.

Lucha Underground also looking at a lot of negative stuff in the near future. Talks between them and JR broke down, going to lose a lot of steam because of the long delay between seasons, could be looking at some bad financial problems soon, and plans for non-tv touring likely being dropped. Viewership also being nowhere what they want or expected in the US (mostly due to Hispanics and tv wrestling fans being more WWE only viewers).

He did this week. Al Snow was rumored to be trying out for the position. Matthews did a good job solo though.

Missy Hyatt is looking rough.

Melissa Hiatt, aka Missy Hyatt, was arrested on March 26, 2015 in Tallahassee, Florida for grand theft. She was booked into the Leon County Jail and released the following day. Additional details concerning her arrest have not been publicly released.

Reminds me of the whole finisher stealing fad that was prevalent in 2000-2004, when it was happening in every big match. Would be cool to see it come back in a much more moderate fashion.

Fignuts 04-19-2015 12:30 AM

TNA situation almost sounds like they have a Jim Herd on their hands.

It appears as though time has repeatedly thrown her into the hog trough.

"Meth: not even once"

Seriously, though, the last three decades have really caught up to Missy. And tackled her hard enough to draw unnecessary roughness flags. Need a palate cleanser now...

Seth82 04-19-2015 03:18 PM

this is news to me. I don't see Eddie's image being plastered anywhere.

WWE owns the rights to the footage. good luck with that one.

http://www.tmz.com/2015/04/19/eddie-...h-using-image/

The WWE is cashing in on Eddie "Hot Stuff" Gilbert even though he's been dead for 20 years ... at least according to his family, which is dragging the league to court to get a cut of the action.

According to docs ... Eddie's dad, Tommy Gilbert, is in charge of the estate and says the WWE is plastering his son's image and likeness all over TV and other media platforms without permission -- and, more importantly, without paying them a dime.

Tommy says old wrestling footage of Eddie -- a pro from '79 until his death of a heart attack in '95 -- is being used to promote the WWE.
Interestingly, Eddie's fam isn't suing to block use of the footage -- they just want a judge to force the WWE to fork over a share of its profits, plus damages.

A WWE rep tells us, "Through the years, WWE has acquired the legal rights to library footage of various former wrestling organizations including Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Mid-Southern Wrestling among many others. WWE has made substantial investments to acquire these copyrighted works and has the legal right to use them."

The rep adds, "Similar cases in the past have been unsuccessful, and we expect this case to be dismissed."

CSL 04-19-2015 03:23 PM

knobs, pretty sure he was paid for being booked. It's like Cena getting his Mania cheque then asking to be paid again because it was repeated on the Network or released on DVD etc

Fignuts 04-19-2015 03:58 PM

Yeah, unless they start making action figures and t-shirts I don't see how thay have a case.

WWE.com had an interesting article about the 5 guys they'd want to see answer Cena's challenge.

Sami Zayn - Teased as a possible "Face of WWE vs Face of NXT" match.
RVD
Neville
Kurt Angle - Throwback to Cena answering Angle's invitational for his debut
Sting

WWE does pay residuals for DVD sales. Madusa showed a pay-stub online a few years back.

Assuming that wasn't intentional, seems like either he was meant to do a flip or the rope tangling spot but instead got stuck because of his fat belly. Not even a big boot by the other guy could dislodge him.

Ron Wright and brother Don were so damn great in their day. Two of the best pure heels ever imho.

an older Ron Wright was phenomenal as a manager in Smoky Mountain Wrestling as well.

may this time be as painless as possible for him. :(

http://www.f4wonline.com/more/more-t...nd-ends-season

--Very sad to report that Ron Wright, one of the all-time greats of East Tennessee Wrestling, has entered hospice car. He's been ill for some time. Wright was a top heel in the 60s and 70s and later became a manager for Smoky Mountain Wrestling of the Dirty White Boy.

taken from the official program of Smoky Mountain Wrestling's
Night Of The Legends (August 5,1994---Knoxville Civic Coliseum)

Ron & Don Wright

Ron & Don Wright were more than a tag team, they were an institution. The perennial Tennessee tag team champions, they faced and defeated every team to come through the area for years, and their fame spread far and wide in wrestling circle--if you planned to come to East Tennessee to wrestle, you knew you'd have to face the Wright brothers. So well known were they in this area that newspaper headlines simply called them by their first names. But as great a team as they were, they were also top singles stars. The brother who took most of the spotlight was the Kingsport, the number one hillbilly , Ron Wright.

Ron Wright had a reputation among the wrestlers as the meanest man who ever lived. The fans thought he was the toughest wrestler in history. And it was universally agreed on that he was the most hated man walking on two legs. If he wasn't fighting wrestlers, he was being stabbed or shot at by fans! But he survived it all, and kept on winning.

Who can forget the feud with Whitey Caldwell, which saw the two men main event in singles and tag bouts for over 12 years until Whitey's death? The brutal Tennessee chain matches which were Ron's specialty were feared by all. Ron's career was filled with titles, blood, record crowds and glory, and tonight, the wrestler turned manager reunites with his brother Don in the Knoxville Civic Coliseum for the first time in 20 years.

the people of Tennessee won't forget it.

They managed to make that feud last and fresh for 12 plus years. It was legendary in the state of Tennessee.

you can mock all you want but he is a legend to those in the know.

Ron and Don Wright were one of the greatest heel teams ever.

I want to know OwenBrowns thoughts on this. I only remember Wright as a wheel-chaired manager to the Dirty White Boy in SMW from watching on streams. Surprised he's lasted that long he looked like shit in 1994.
