Funny you say that, since he's had a beard in his biggest movies and still looks early/mid-20s.
well how old exactly are you wanting sabretooth to look in an origins story???
Older than his younger brother.
if only they could use makeup in movies...
Like, say, do more to make Liv look like Creed? Blonde hair and such?
would it work on the physical size of the character in relation to jackman?
That doesn't concern me with comic movies.
I mean, it's nice when the actors bulk up, either initially (Evans) or progressively (Reeves, Jackman) - but that's ultimately something people should get over.
Evans lost much of his bulk going into Avengers, didn't matter. Jeremy didn't seem to care. Bale is actually kinda frail in this Batman series (though one could debate how that works there). But really, does it matter in the end?
Him losiing size from thor to avengers isnt much of a problem because he is still bigger than the cast so who notices.
I think the bulk of evans is lost more because of the style of the suit more than anything he did. The way I see it, bruce wayne can look how he wants, but when he is in the bat suit is whats important and theres nothing frail about him when hes suited up. The dynamic between sabretooth and wolverine is rooted and iconic. With the relationship that they have to the comics, it would be pretty important to have sabretooth be much more imposing to wolverine in order to give the illusion that he can beat the shit out of him like he does in most of that movie. It also adds to the scariness of his character that not only is he a physical threat but also the evil, intelligent danger. liv pulled off the evil intelligence and cunning, but his character isnt as powerful as his comic counterpart.. |
I understand, but I never got the feeling that Liv wasn't a convincing physical threat. He certainly seemed more stock than Jackman, and looked feral enough in Origins.

Thank God for RDJ and sobriety

oooooooooooooh...Stark gonna build a new Armor?
Oh who am I kidding of course he is. |
Every movie he gets new armor. With this nanotech angle, I wonder how trippy this one will be. Guessing the hud will be his natural vision now.

Really hope that isn't the case to be honest.
But then, I kept thinking XMFC would be shit and ended up loving it (as did most other people), so I guess they can do whatever the fuck they wanna do. As long as the story is good, I'm happy. :y:
I'm cool with X-Men getting a reboot. XMFC was better than the first three X-Men movies, which were basically all just Wolverine and some people with the X-Men's powers who don't really act like the X-Men. So maybe this time we'll get to see more faithful portrayals of all the characters who don't have adamantium claws.
Also, Days of Future Past was one of the best X-Men storylines ever, so I'm glad to see they're doing that. About goddamn time we get some Sentinels in this franchise. |
OMFG @ AIM!

I've liked both Iron Man movies, and I trust Shane Black.

Replacement for the Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon:
http://i.newsarama.com/images/avenge...ble-roster.jpg Built to share the universe with Ultimate Spider-Man. |
Fuck Loeb for canceling EMH. It was the best Marvel cartoon near the levels of Spectacular Spider-Man, Wolverine & The X-Men/X-Men TAS.
And with this, the Spectacular Spidey/Wolverine & X-Men/Earth's Mightiest Heroes universe is dead. They're live on in DVDs and Marvel vs Capcom 3. Like the DCAU, we will miss it.
So, new one is Avenger's Movie Roster + Added Token Black Team Member.
Wait what, DCAU is dead?
JLU ended some time ago.
Gutted to hear about A:EMH. Such a great program.
I am still fucking furious about Wolverine & The X-Men
Are they at least finishing the season?
Yeah, they're finishing the season, just not getting a third one.
Latino Review now reports that the Iron Patriot armor seen in leaked pics from Iron Man 3 is actually War Machine with a new paint job.
If EMH's cancelation was the nail in the coffin, here's pissing on the grave:
Spectacular Spider-Man has a guest spot on EMH this season, and of course he was voiced by Josh Keaton. Was... His lines have been redubbed by Drake Bell, current star of Ultimate Spider-Man. Not only is the old universe dying, we get dirt in our eye all in the name of brand consistency. This really sucks, as I would have liked hearing Keaton as Parker one last time - and on a terrific show. I don't care much for Ultimate Spider-Man, and I don't think I'll be interested in the new animated universe (but we'll see how Avengers Assemble and Hulk/SMASH turns out). |
God, don't remind me. Ultimate Spider-Man is a fucking mess, and the fact that they canceled Spectacular to make room for it makes my blood boil.
That's fucking awful
About the new cartoons, Hulk/SMASH and Avengers Assemble:
"There are two huge projects that we're working on. The first, we know the impact that The Avengers had — and continues to have — this summer, and there's one particular character who has been the breakout hit of the summer and he's big and he's green and he's our Incredible Hulk. So we started talking about it and we thought what's more fun than one Hulk? And that would actually be five Hulks! That cast is Hulk; the Red Hulk; Skaar, who's the teenage barbarian Hulk, She Hulk — who's actually been a character in the Marvel Universe for 30 years; and a relatively new character, A-Bomb. He's more of a Blue Hulk. And together they are Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H." "The Avengers movie has been the ambassador to the world for the Marvel Universe so we want a show that has the feel and the tone and the incredible adventures like that movie. So the next project that we're working on — and this is down in our lab, top secret, with the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents protecting us at all costs — is Marvel's Avengers Assemble, which will be a brand new and really extraordinary looking animated series dealing with the Avengers in that same world." |
Apparently, the Oscorp building from Amazing Spider-Man was this close to appearing in the Avengers New York skyline scenes. It didn't make it because much of New York was rendered in Avengers, and the Oscorp building didn't make the cut.
That would be the second piece of news related to a crossover between Sony and Marvel/Disney. Something's going on here... |
Spider-Man in the Avengers could break the Avengers record if done right, they'd be stupid assholes not to allow it.
I wouldn't say "stupid assholes".
I personally see more potential in a Wolverine cameo. Much rather see Hugh Jackman interact with the Avengers than the new kid. It would seem much more likely from a storyline standpoint that SHIELD or at least Nick Fury has had an eye on Logan and what William Stryker was doing.

Hugh Jackman in Captain America 2 would be mighty sweet.
Kevin Feige had a recent interview about crossovers and had a very different tone about Sony's Spidey franchise in particular, whereas the usual answer was 'no chance in Hell'. I found his language telling.
Once upon a time something like Avengers was wish stuff, and a billion dollars later here we are. I think somebody's looking to make a deal. I also think it would be a less risky, more flexible deal between the rebooted Spider-Man and the Avengers. This is just my speculation and I just told my roommate this; something big is going down between Sony and Marvel/Disney. And if Fox is looking to get the jump, perhaps something will happen there as well (and it would only include Hugh Jackman). They have to know that the only thing that could match Avenger's epic concept is adding Spider-Man or Wolverine to the mix, characters currently in their respective studios. But with all that money and hype on the line, pride will be laid aside. Spider-Man or Wolverine will be a part of the Avengers franchise by the end of Phase Two. That is what I'm thinking. |
They have to be open to it. The real question is how much Marvel wants those IP's back. At first, it was strongly considered 'b-list' characters Marvel had on their hands (in terms of popularity and marketability), but now its pretty obvious they have the strongest lineup.
Why would Marvel want to share revenue with other 'competitors'? The only way i see them wanting to hear any sort of deal would be to negotiate getting their characters back home. |
Well Sony and Fox aren't bombing their movies. Raimi's Spider-Mans and Fox's X-Men movies were all hits (some relatively). So they won't let them go easily. A mutual deal for cameos is more realistic right now. After Avengers, Marvel holds the cards. They would be doing Sony or Fox a favor by adding their marquee characters. Much less to gain having Nick Fury appear in Spider-Man or The Wolverine.
Enough talk of this Spider-Man/Wolverine/Avengers crossover. I don't think my heart can take it.
Cyclops's costume looks like he hopped over to DC for a day and raided Nightwing's wardrobe.
What the fuck is Cyclops wearing? That looks awful.
In fact, seeing a Phoenix theme in those costumes in general. I'm sure it's plot related, so best not to explain it I guess. Still running way behind on Marvel.
Yeah, apart from the logo, they all seem to be on fire. I guess they got a hold of the Phoenix Force.
The Phoenix was split by Iron Man and it possessed the X-Men.
Interesting.
Hopefully it's not as shit as the last couple events. |
Any details?
To be at Comic-Con.
I wonder if this war will be very civil.
So has anyone been keeping up with the new Age of Apocalypse series? I just bought the first few issues on Midtown Comics site while I was getting my other stuff. I remember really liking the old series, but I never see anyone mention the new one good or bad.
Another event? Damnit. I hope it's just the 'after effects" like Dark Reign and not another damn mini series.
What else would it be?
Can't see them diving into another crossover so soon after AvX.
In other Marvel news, Bendis is going to be leaving the Avengers titles (and apparently switching to X-Men, somehow) and Ed Brubaker is finally leaving Captain America. |
- Iron Man 3 is currently shooting with a release date of May 3, 2013.
- Thor 2 is the next project gearing up for a shoot and has a release date of November 8, 2013. - Captain America 2 is planned for April 14, 2014. - Guardians of the Galaxy (sometime in 2014) will lead directly into Avengers 2 in 2015. Somewhere in there, the relatively smaller production Ant-Man should sneak its way in. There's a rumor that Iron Man 3's tag is essentially Ant-Man cinematic introduction. And considering who may be the villain for Avengers 2, Guardians leading into it makes sense. The backdrop for Phase 1 was patriotism, Phase two is looking more sci-fi and cosmic. Now let's see if Sony wants in on this. Amazing Spider-Man is already slated for 2014. |
And by the way, it's The Punisher fucking the heroes up in those This is War teasers. The event is Punisher: Warzone.

If I want to start reading the punisher series, where do I start and is there books? Or do I have to find all the comics? I don't want to read off the computer.
Punisher stuff is a bit all over the place, really. I've never been a huge fan of his stuff set in the mainstream Marvel universe, although Garth Ennis' "Welcome Back, Frank" series is excellent. The Marvel MAX series is great too, although it's set a lot more in the "real" world with a Frank Castle who must be pushing 70,
Not been reading the recent Greg Rucka series and the whole Frankencastle stuff in the previous series just seemed a bit ludicrous, so I can't really say where's a good place to catch up with his recent stuff. Was never a massive fan of the War Journal series that Matt Fraction did either. Should be able to catch most of it in trade form though. |
lol can't wait to see Rocket Raccoon in movie form.
I can't imagine a Guardians of the Galaxy film doing well, unless they really really stress on Avengers connections. Or have seeds for Guardians of the Galaxy planted in Iron Man 3/Cap 2/Thor 2.
Knowing Marvel Studios the way I do now...probably will be planting seeds.
Glorious seeds of movie magic. |
I can't wait. I'm unfamiliar with the Guardians outside of that episode of EMH and 'Coon in UMvC3.
Never read the old Gaurdians books, but the current run following Annihilation has been fantastic.
Can't really get into 'Guardians', but I'll just wait and see and hope it's good.
I honestly know nothing about Guardians Of The Galaxy with the exception of that one episode of The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
and that the raccoon is adorbz |
Quote:
I'm a bit concerned the film will be a bit of a flop, since there's not any "name" characters in the team. But who knows, maybe it'll be a pleasant surprise. |

Note the 90s era outfits on everyone.
I have that in the ridiculous Garth Ennis' Punisher hardcover I decided to treat myself to a few years ago. Not read it in a while though.
what does the punisher have as abiities :?:
Guns.
Never heard of Guardians of the Galaxy. Somebody give me the lowdown. Who are they? What is their relation to the Avengers/Marvel Universe?
They are essentially Avengers in space.
AND THERE IS AN ADORABLE RACCOON WHO KNOWS MILITARY STUFF
Yeah, basically they are a team of heroes who operate on the galactic level.
I did highly enjoy the comic series that followed Annihilation Conquest. |
Did anyone just see Avengers: Earth Mightiest Heroes?
I love Captain America |
Name of Eps? I most likely seen it.
