Lol at the Jays line up for Game 2
Pompey Pennington Carrera Colabello Hague Thole Kawasaki Barney Diaz. It's the Buffalo Bisons vs the Baltimore Orioles in Game Two. Jays will probably still win. |
Dickey & Bisons versus Baltimore more like....
|
Bisons are out hitting the O's so far
|
jesus christ...now the Phillies threw at Cespedes' backup.
I don't even care. a Phillie needs to be fucking DRILLED this game. this is ridiculous. |
Logan Verrett drills Odubel Herrera.
good. the Mets front office has basically banned Collins from calling for retaliation, about time they sacked up and did something. of course it means the news on Cespedes is probably going to end up being really bad for them to do it. |
what did Herrera ever do to you
|
I bet Buchanan was on the mound facing the backup. Hate that guy.
|
Got my playoff tix today. So weird to have Cubs World Series tickets in my hand.

Lol and the Jays are not "peaking" they have had to deal with tough games along the way, during September they weren't blowing teams out of the water, they had to scratch and claw for victories, particularly once Tulo went down with that injury. |
Quote:
At least this time Cespedes getting hit wasn't intentional like it was during the Marlins game a couple weeks ago, but he still got hurt. Gotta protect your teammate. It's baseball. |
Of course, then Robles let a 2-2 pitch get away from him and he got tossed out, leading to Terry to bring in the dregs of his bullpen to blow the game.
And they're using a guy tomorrow who has never started a game and will probably play all bench guys knowing the Phillies may well try to start another beanball war. Decent chance your team will pull off the sweep. And with the big 3 all going to be on shortened starts this weekend the Mets sure do look like a team that gives zero fucks about holding on to the homefield advantage in the NLDS. |
|
@Vito I was joking, but I see your point. Teams that have nothing to lose tend to stop caring and start bean wars with the remaining contenders. Gotta keep it exciting, I guess? I dunno. It's shitty.
Sucks that Cespedes got hurt, though. I read last night his hand isn't broken, at least. |
Watching ESPN and talking about the curse of Taylor Swift. Nationals, Astros and Padres have all struggled since she played in their stadiums. She plays in the Toronto's next.
|
The Padres are cursed due to inept ownership and front office personnel. Taylor Swift can play on my stageany day, baby.

Rich Hill could have been so good if he wasn't such a head case. Had it on display in 2008.
Was maddening in 2006-7. Would get called up and get lit up for 8 runs in 3 innings. Send him down. Complete game shutout with 14 k's. Bring him up and get hammered again. Cubs should have sold high on him knowing he could lose it at any moment. Jim Hendry never wanted to trade the kids on the farm though. Always too afraid. Held on to Felix Pie for dear life too. |
lol.....got an email from the Cubs reminding people not to post their World Series ticket pics with the barcode. I hope whoever does that gets their tickets sold out from under them.
|
:-\ Yanks got their historic 10,00th win against the Sox.
|
|
Haha yeah I saw that. Someone need to plant coke on her tour bus so she gets stopped at the border

Read a great quote from the Yankee locker room. Apparently the Yankees had one of the Jays games on earlier in the year. A Yankee player walked by and said "Jays are playing, is it 6-0 yet?"
This is the most enjoyable year of baseball that I have ever experienced in my 27 years as a Jays fan. I was a bit too young to really enjoy the Jays World Series years. This team is just so much fun to watch. There's not a weak link in their line up. Even Ryan Goins has been fantastic. Really hope Encarnacion gets to 40 home runs. 3 players with 40 home runs on the same team is just amazing. |
The Jays would be the team I most want to see win it all if the Mets don't. The lineup is incredible, I can never tire of watching David Price pitch, and I'll always love R.A. Dickey for what he did for the Mets, both with his amazing 2012 season and also for helping to land Syndergaard.
|
In fact no matter how the West or second wild card shake up there are SO many interesting potential World Series matchups with all of these new teams in the mix.
About the only clunker would be Yankees/Cards. No way anybody who isn't a fan of one of those teams could possibly want to see that. |
Apparently Brad Ausmus let prized rookie pitcher Daniel Norris throw 54 pitches in one inning, th longest one inning outing in 6years. Then he responds with "I know more than you" line in a post game presser. And they're bringing him back? Lol.
|
It's ridiculous. He isn't an advanced stats guy and makes alot of bonehead mistakes.
|
How can a former catcher let that happen?

|
Happy for you, Gert. Glad to see the Vernon Wells and Alex Rios contacts firmly in the rear view mirror.
|
Alex Rios literally went from being my favourite player to my most hated in a span of a year.
|
Couple of records set tonight:
Cubs set NL record for pitching staff k's in a season (1414). MLB leader is the 2014 Indians (1429). Chris Sale sets White Sox franchise record for k's in a season (274). |
If Kevin Pillar keeps consistant for years to come, he could be a Devon White esque center fielder. Particularly with that glove of his, and his recent knack fo getting timely hits. But form is fleeting. Class is permanent.
|
I say this taking into account he can manage an eventual shift up in the order when time comes a knocking.
|
And if Josh Donaldson stays half as good as he is, he could be an Ed Sprague-esque third baseman :shifty:
|
Mets no longer control their destiny for homefield :-\ they've completely phoned it in this week. I know statistically homefield means dick all in baseball but you'd still like to at least try for it.
If they end the year on a 6-game losing streak and stalled at 89 wins....ugh, literally everybody in the mediawill be going on about how the Dodgers will sweep. Even though there's a 4 game layover before the series even starts and therefore momentum at the end of the regular season shouldn't mean anything. |
Vito, stop complaining and just enjoy your teams success.
|
Fuck you. I'm stoked for the playoffs but that doesn't mean I need to be happy seeing them just completely coast through this last week when there's still something to play for. It ain't spring training.
|
All you do is bitch though. I don't even see how to enjoy watching them.
|
Gonna have to agree with Ruien, Vito
|
More to Ruiens point, guys need to rest, tho momentum is key. There's not much to play for when it's not for a spot tho.
If Cecil and Osuna remain I'm top form, the jays are in a good position. Cecil has been Fucking nasty, it's actually crazy. I expect Osuna to blow a save or 2 but there is no doubt he's got some powerful stuff. Just is a lot to expect out of a 20 year old |
It's not like I'm yelling and screaming or anything like I would if this was for a playoff spot. In fact the only thing that legit pissed me off this week was the 2nd Phillies game when Cespedes and others started getting beaned.
But nobody in their right mind could be happy watching their team get swept to the worst team in baseball and in the process put themselves into a situation where they're now gonna have to face 2 of the best pitchers in baseball (arguably THE 2 best...certainly top 5 with Arrieta, Price, and Keuchel this year) in LA where the Dodgers have thrived. Anything can happen in a 5 game series. I can't wait to see what happens. Doesn't make it any less frustrating to watch them treat this week like it meant nothing. |
And I've already said that anything that happens in the playoffs this year is gravy. These last 2 months have been ridiculously fun for the most part...worth the wait after 2 collapses and 6 seasons of utter shit. No matter what happens I'll be looking back on the 2015 season fondly...otherwise I wouldn't have gone ahead and ordered a division champs hat and shirt.
But the year hasn't ended yet, and I would love to see this carry on as long as possible. Mets/Jays in particular would be orgasmic seeing as myself, Newstead, and Gertner have been super active in here. |
Granderson will have 3 home runs in the first series carrying the Mets to victory.
|
I'd be on board with that, especially if he does some damage against Kershaw with all of his struggles against LHP this year. Grandy is such a nice dude, always feel happy when he does well. Hope he can win the Roberto Clemente Award.
|
Yeah Vito.
Remember this. |
Encarnacion with his 39th! One more for Encarnacion and the Jays break a record.
|
lol now they're getting no hit. Jesus
|
There it is. Scherzer no-hits the Mets. Awful.
|
Who cares? They're in the playoffs. The Nats aren't. It's meaningless. It's gonna be ok, Vito.
|
I'm sitting in a crowded bar wearing my NL East champs hat and the game was on right in front of me. Entire place was Yanks fans laughing at me (probably to make themselves feel better about their own doubleheader sweep)
|
In a weird way, maybe this well help them. One of their strong suits this year has been bouncing back in the face of adversity. This awful stretch of baseball to end the year is bound to leave to every talking head picking the Dodgers.
Underdog role 4tw |
So happy the Astros are winning. Was hoping they would not blow their playoff chances completely.
|
AL West is gonna be interesting tomorrow. If the Astros and Angels both win it'll clinch a Game 163 between the Rangers and Astros for the division with the loser going to the Wild Card. An Angels win and an Astros loss means Game 163 between the Angels and Astros for the 2nd Wild Card.
Hope it shakes out one of those two ways cause I love me some Game 163 baseball. |
Gerrit Cole gonna pound the strike zone vs. Cubs. 2-0 Pirates win. It matters not where the game is played.
Cubs aren't cursed, but the Baseball Gods are not fans. The Cubs don't get to win. |

eh. If I were a Yankees fan I wouldn't bother with division champs gear either.
but after 9 years of waiting, screw it. I wanted a keepsake. also the hat/shirt are pretty badass. if I need to end up buying World Series champs gear too that's a great problem to have. |
Osuna blew the game, but I think it's a tough ask for any closer to come in with a one-run lead. You could tell he wanted that game, but it's hard to pitch around a lead-off double. I'm all for pre- big series ego checks though, teams need to keep down to earth. Still, never like to see your team give up a lead in the ninth.
|
On the subject of blown saves;
I generally don't trust closers with a one run lead, unless they're Mariano Rivera and even then he's had epic blown saves (albeit about 1% of them). Duane Ward blew 4 of Juan Guzman's games in 1993, and Duane Ward is a fucking badass. Tom Henke blew the save in Game 6 of 1992 World Series and the Jays still won, and he escaped the inning without giving up the lead. Tom Henke was also a bad motherfucker. I'm pretty much a Jays Bandwagonner right now... always have loved baseball but grew out of it over the years especially with the Jays playing 20 plus years of nothing baseball (even their very good teams weren't anywhere close to the playoffs) and especially as I fell in love with rugby and MMA. So I'm not really 100% on who the great closers are now. (I think Craig Kimbrall is one of them?) Andrew Miller looks to be a nice little find for the Yankees... and even Dionner Navaro put one out on him in a tight spot. I just think you could have the best closer in the game and a 1 run lead just isn't enough. It's essentially a 25% chance he's going to give up a run. It's up to the bats to give your closer a 2 run lead. 1 run is a fucking bitch to deal with. Also, I don't know why, but I really like Jeff Samarzija. He's kind of a jobber, but an Iron Mike Sharpe type jobber aka a jobber I can get behind. |
I like Samardzija too. Very interested in seeing the kind of deal he gets this offseason. He's got great stuff but struggles with consistency. Last year seemed to be the first year where he totally "put it all together" but then he produced a clunker of a contract year.
He'll probably still get paid handsomely I'd think. David Price and Jordan Zimmermann will land the biggest deals for pitchers this offseason, but Samardzija and Scott Kazmir are in the next tier of free agents right after them in an otherwise weak free agent market for starters. |
Yankees just don't wanna play anymore.
They're old, tired, wanna go home to their houses, and hit the golf course. |
Man I hope AJ Burnett gets to pitch at least one more game in his career.
|
Cubs sold as high as they possibly could have on Samardija. Sox were dumb to trade for an extreme fly ball pitcher to pitch at US Cellular. I still like him though. I'm guessing he takes a one year reclamation project deal and becomes a great bargain. Too many decent SP's on the market for anyone to overpay out of desperation.
|
Jefe is definitely going to get signed by St. Louis or San Diego for the Dan Haren, then make 100 mill next offseason.
|
I like that he's a 2 sport athlete and is a big hoss, and definitely has some good stuff. His career numbers aren't great but his era is just a tad over 4 which means on average he delivers quality starts. By no means an ace, but he can eat up innings.
|
Just as a side note to further illustrate my point on Jeff.... One of R.A. tickets most impressive starts to me was against the angels on the road. He got banged up for 5 runs in the first, then pitched 5 more shut out innings earning himself the win. The key wasn't his era, the key was him eating innings and keeping his team in the game, and not giving up the sixth run.
|
So.....Ichiro is pitching now.
|
He started his career in high school as a pitcher.

Ichiro may be able to extend his career |
Mets squeak out their 90th win after all  woooooo
Opening Day: October version on Friday |
:( Don Orsillo fighting really hard to not completely break down during his final speech as Red Sox commentator.
Going to miss that guy but great pick up for the Padres assuming the reports end up being true. |
Total bullshit they are letting him go. Fuck em.
|
Rangers win the West, Astros officially clinch a spot in the playoffs.
Only thing left to decide is who hosts the AL Wild Card game. Yanks and Stros both losing. If that holds the game will be in the Bronx. |
Rooting order for playoffs:
1. Mets 2. Blue Jays 3. Cubs 4. Pirates 5. Rangers 6. Astros 7. Royals 8. Dodgers 9. Yankees 10. Cardinals Basically outside of 1, 9, and 10 being locked in...I'd be perfectly fine with any of 2-8 winning it all. |
1-9: don't care
10: Royals |
haha Mr. Tony Tiny Irving, you strictly a Tigers' fan?

yeah I give zero fucks about the NL and the rest of the AL. have sooo many obnoxious/bandwagon Jays fan friends too. probably won't even really watch any postseason tbh

Can't deal with all the "trends", remember the #lovethisteam from a couple of years ago when Anthopolous made those signings... I kept saying they weren't going to be good because it takes a couple of years to form a team, especially because they just picked up a bunch of question marks and a knuckleballer, new to the AL. And everyone thought they were a lock for the world series because nobody understands sports in this city. The fans and the coverage here damned near make me hate the Leafs, but thanks to Doug Gilmour, Wendell Clark, Cujo and Gary Roberts, I'm stuck for life. I just avoid a lot of it still, I refuse to watch an inferior product on the ice or the baseball field. If the team is competing and "in the mix" I'll watch them flounder in big time situations because that's what it's all about, but I'm not going to watch multi billion dollar corporation run teams put a bunch of Barry Horowitz level jobber teams on the ice or the baseball diamond. Yet every year, like battered wives, Toronto fans come out with all of their gusto and it is fucking annoying. At least with the Jays, the fans stop going to the games when they suck ass. |
Also, watching Minnesota vs St Louis from 1987 game 7 on youtube, AWESOME FUCKING GAME! Frank Viola was the man.
-edit- and any time Ozzie Smith is involved I just think of him going through the neverending pit in the Simpsons episode. He was awesome too, though. |
CC Sabathia is checking himself into an alcohol rehabilition center effective immediately and he is out for the playoffs.

SO THAT'S HIS PROBLEM.
