Loose Cannon 03-29-2010 11:46 AM

you know, Almost Heroes is very underated. I've watched that one more then all his other movies. It's really a great movie

PorkSoda 03-29-2010 04:47 PM

Truly is. First time I watched it was a few nights ago, and every time Chris Farley was on screen, whether he was just staring at something or saying just a couple words, it was hilarious. The plum pudding scene also had me cracking up....

Out Of Time - 7/10.

AngryMidjit 03-30-2010 10:49 AM

miracle at st. anna
4/10

typical spike lee movie with all whites being racists with southern accents, and bad acting

AngryMidjit 03-30-2010 02:16 PM

i also just saw the warlords this morning

even though it's in chinese with english subtitles, it's FUCKING AWESOME
jet li is FUCKING AWESOME

Schlomey 03-31-2010 01:47 AM

Brothers - 1.5 out of 5

Very unemotional for such an intense storyline. Very bad film.

El Fangel 03-31-2010 01:49 AM

Public Enemy 1/10

Christ, I watched like 30 mins and said fuck it.

The Franchise 03-31-2010 09:03 PM

Crazy Heart - 6/10

It as probably a good movie but I found it boring/was tired

Droford 03-31-2010 10:38 PM

Dead Snow 8/10

Aside from being completely disappointed by the Bluray quality (I thought at first I had been sent the DVD) and the super low budget special effects, its probably one of my favorite "zombie" movies though Im sure that "zombie" in this case is loosely used because the Nazis aren't exactly standard zombies.

PorkSoda 04-04-2010 11:03 AM

Clash Of The Titans - 9/10. I didn't like the last 30 seconds. There was an Expendables trailer that had ARNOLD, Willis, and Stallone inside of a church for a few seconds. I marked out.

Kalyx triaD 04-04-2010 11:11 AM

Said trailer is in the appropriate thread.

bigdaddysuperfreak 04-04-2010 11:16 AM

Did they use some kind of voodoo magic? Kind of sounds like the movie PumpkinHead a little bit.

I'm a sucker for musical theater.

Droford 04-04-2010 08:44 PM

Time Traveler's Wife - 6/10

Kinda wanted to like this, but there were plot holes and lots of unanswered questions, and too much of Eric Bana's naked ass.

Good for you :y:

mitch_h 04-04-2010 09:54 PM

The Ghost Writer - It's slow burn suspense felt anachronistic, but in a good way. The ending gave me goosebumps as well, I also liked seeing Ewan McGregor in something without George Lucas dialogue. 7.5/10

Fantastic Mr Fox - 6/10

Bigger Than Life - Pretty crazy Nicholas Ray film about a guy who takes an experimental drug called "cortisone" to cure some heart condition and the drug ends up turning him into a huge bastard. Delirious and cheesy but rich with subtext. 8/10

A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese Through American Movies- 8/10

Voskhozhdeniye (The Ascent) - Russian movie about two soldiers are captured by Nazis. Really cool black and white cinematography and had a bit of a Kubrick feel to it. 9/10

The Genius 04-05-2010 04:03 AM

hot tub time machine 6/10

Interstellar 5555 - 9/10

Daft Punk movie sup

XL 04-05-2010 04:03 PM

Case 39 - 4/10

A predictable, by-the-numbers psychological thriller/horror with Renee Zellwegger and Bradley Cooper.

Brooklyns Finest - 65/100.

Triple A 04-07-2010 07:40 PM

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? - 9/10
Pretty amazing

Greenberg - 7.5/10
Good/relatable. Love the actress, Greta Gerwig.

A Prophet - 6/10
Dunno. Seemed like I "should have liked it" but wasn't into it at all for some reason. Fell asleep for like 15 mins.

Hot Tub Time Machine - 5/10
Somewhat non-ironically terrible but had funny parts.

RoXer 04-07-2010 07:47 PM

Yes!

Droford 04-07-2010 09:16 PM

The Box - 4/10

Go and ruin a perfectly good short story and a pretty creepy ep of Twilight Zone with some shit about aliens and crap. I did like that the overall movie felt like it was actually shot in 1976. But really this was a huge letdown.

Ive seen 2 reviews now that say Donnie Darko fans will love it but I have to disagree. Even though Richard Kelley wrote/directed both, the Box feels nothing like Donnie Darko.

Loose Cannon 04-08-2010 11:23 AM

yea, I didn't get it. I reviewed that a few pages back.

Brothers: 8.5/10

It was a really good story and excellent buildup to that final scene where Toby McGuire just snaps. Definately close to reality to the soilders who return from war and have to go back into the "real world"

Armored: 5/10

Meh, good action flick if you have an hour to kill. You can watch the beginning and just fast foward to the last 30 minutes and you'l be good. I love Matt Dillon though.

Old Dogs: 7/10

Did I mention I love Matt Dillon? Had its funny moments.

Blitz 04-08-2010 10:01 PM

Big Fan: 7/10. Pretty good but not nearly as much as it was hyped to be.

XCaliber 04-09-2010 11:03 AM

Up 9/10 - Didn't have any expectations going into it but after viewing it I thought this movie was very touching and it also had many memorable funny moments along the way.

GI Joe 7.5/10 - Sure this may not be an Oscar worthy flick but I though it was still a rather fun experience for a popcorn flick and it had some really cool visuals as well.

Surrogates 6.5/10 - Good in concept but winds up being to me just another predictable and generic 2nd rate action movie but it manages to be still passable entertainment.

Moon 4/10 - Despite some great acting by Sam Rockwell I still managed to fall asleep watching this the pace of it was utterly ridiculous and unecessary plus the story itself was an unoriginal mashup.

2010 6/10 - As good as the special effects were at times they did a poor job in several situations where you never got the sense the actors were ever really in any danger.

The Box 6.5/10 - Starting out this film really intrugued me but then the in the last half hour it all it just fell right apart but at least there managed to be some good acting in it.

Schlomey 04-09-2010 11:14 AM

100 Girls - 7/10 - Rather unusual teenage comedy. The film itself wasn't anything that special but the dialog was almost Shakespearean. Quite funny & pretty unusual in a genre typically full of the same fare.

Hostel 2 - 8/10 - Eli Roth is awesome. This was way better than the first which in itself was a treat. The cast was decent enough and I totally got suckered from plot twists at least 3 different times. Pretty well done gore flick.

Cirque Du Freak: Vampire Assistant - 7/10 - Why did this get such bad reviews!? It was tons better than expected. Hoping it did well enough to serve a sequel.

The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassas - 9/10 - What a visual feast. In the same vein as Mulan Rouge & Eternal Sunshine, this odd and totally twisted film is a rare treat. Ledger's last role was one of his best & most unusual.

Tazz Dan 04-10-2010 08:38 PM

Kick Ass - 4.5/5 - Awesome fucking movie, surpassed my expectations. And they were high. :y:

mitch_h 04-10-2010 09:28 PM

Turned Out - Watched this on Youtube, it's a documentary on prison rape narrated by Danny Trejo. Fuck.

Schlomey 04-11-2010 12:42 PM

Danny Trejo is the A-Typical prison raper. Good choice for commentator. I'll be checking this out.

Triple Naitch 04-11-2010 01:52 PM

Twilight New Moon 8/10

It was pretty good. I love how the whole marketing thing was Team Jacob vs Team Edward and they barely had any interaction in the movie. I guess the full out war is coming between the two groups later. Jacob will prob turn into a full fledge heel.

Next Day Air - 5/10
Starship Troopers 2 - 3/10.
Fever Pitch - 7/10. This movie is funny in a sad way because Jimmy Fallon spoke for like the whole Red Sox nation when he acted in this. It truly is sad how stubborn Red Sox fans are...

New film scripted by, produced by, directed by and featuring Ricky Gervais (and Stephen Merchant). A decent enough film, kinda "By-The-Numbers" Coming of Age story. Adequate way to spend 2 hours on an evening.

I'm going to give Law Abiding Citizen 4 out of 5 stars. It starts off pretty strong and I was guessing till the ends which is a rarity for me as I can usually predict the end of mystery thrillers. Problem is I couldn't guess the end because they kind of paint themselves into a corner of unbelievability.

This was a good movie. The story was extremely predictable, which I think was its biggest detractor. I thought the character development was decent. The guy that played the marine colonel was especially hate-able. I definitely rooted for the blue people (the name escapes me.)

RoXer, how the FUCK can you give that piece of utter fucking shit anything above a 0?

RoXer 05-06-2010 07:20 PM

I think it was because I was doing other things and had this on in the backround for half the movie. So when the corny characters would say their corny dialogue I guess it didn't bug me. Had I payed money to see it I would have been upset. And reallyreallyreally low expectations helped also. Also, if that extra isn't her in the movie than it gets a much lower rating.

I thought it was diabolical they even made this. DD is my fave film btw.

Documentary about a bunch of "influential underground artists." Wanted to kill a couple of the people for being unbelievably "pretentious" but the others were really interesting. Movie was a jumbled mess though.

Boy Interrupted - 7.5/10
Some documentary I saw on HBO2 a couple of nights ago about some kid who started talking about offing himself all the time at age 5 and then offed himself later.

"Total Isolation" - 6.5/10
BBC documentary that put people in a pitch black sound proof room for 48 hours to see how they would react with complete sensory deprivation and isolation. Pretty interesting/wanted it to be better. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...83671561908614

Triple A 05-06-2010 07:29 PM

4, 3, 2, 1, 5 for me. Season with the kids is the best season of anything ever "imo"

thedamndest 05-06-2010 07:37 PM

I liked the kids, but I didn't like how Colvin, Prez, Dennis, and even Bubbles wound up at the school. Kind of felt like a stretch to get the regulars into that setting.

Really hated how in 5 after they showed the people at the newspaper they cut to other characters reacting to what they had just read in the paper. I see why they needed to do that, but all of the sudden everyone was reading a paper.

I am convinced that they just told Snoop that they were shooting a documentary and to act natural.
