Mircost and Twisted Pixel team up in a promotion for the Kinect title called The Gunslinger by offering a bunch of free goodies for those who buy the game.
As part of the promotion, the game will be sold at a discount price of $39.99 instead of the usual price of $49.99 for Kinect titles. In terms of free stuff, Microsoft and Twisted Pixel will be giving away the launch DLC pack for the game called "The Wavy Tube Man Chronicles" regardless if the game was pre-ordered or not. The upcoming Xbox Live Arcade title called Fruit Ninja Kinect will also be given away as part of the bundle for the deal. Also included in the deal is 2 free token codes for avatar items only for a limited time though. http://i.screwattack.com/content/ima...1311350569.jpg http://screwattack.com/blogs/ScrewAt...-bonus-content -------------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) After years of debating and negotiating, Australia will finally have an R18+ rating for games by the end of the year. The move will allow each territory the choice to make mature rated games legal for sale or not while also ending the required banning or censorship/editing of mature rated games. 2) As part of a push by Sony to keep as many of the free PSN+ users once the month ends, the company is offering those who renew to a 12 month plan a free gift between two choices. The choices are either an extra 3 months to make it a 15 month plan or Rally Online Arcade game for free on PSN. 3) Capcom has announced a new collaboration in the VS series and this time its not a game but instead a marketing partnership with the Hello Kitty company. Capcom will allow Hello Kitty characters to be dressed up in Street Fighter costumes to be used in a wide variety of merchandise products. |
Just a random thought. I'd love to see someone adapt, say, Mario 3 to a movie. Basically recreate the iconic moments and levels in movie form. You have actual, Muppet-like enemies (Goombas, Koopa Troopers, etc) and just essentially go through the game in an hour an a half, with obvious added dialog. It'd basically be an action movie.
|
I was reading last week that they had plans to do something like that for the SMB movie. The original script took place is what we recognise as the Mushroom Kingdom with hills and grass and sunshine.
Bowser was going to be a giant turtle-like reptile, he would have his Doomship/Airship etc. It was all very faithful to the games but they couldn't afford it so had to do rewrite after rewrite until they had a doable script. Edit: Here are the scripts. There is one that's close to the games, one that is inspired by Ghostbusters, one inspired by Die-Hard (:wtf:) and one inspired by Mad Max. |
Damn.
Why couldn't Nintendo afford that? :foc: |
It was the early 90's. Effects would have been very expensive. I can never say or type that without thinking of Mr Dink from Doug.
They could always pull a "Marvel" and open their own studio. CG Mario movies would be great. Charles Martinet does 98% of the Mario cast and those 5 minute shorts Mario Tennis/Golf had as intros were always fun to watch. |

Finally, directors Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel expressed interest, but they had an entirely new concept. So, the original production was scrapped and their vision was given a chance. Unfortunately, by that point they had already spent $10 million or so on the fantasy production, which took a fair chunk out of the sci-fi production's budget. |
Redstar was on the production team for the movie and signed up so he could save their dignity

I can only say what I heard and I heard the fantasy script was too SFX heavy and they had to find one that would be affordable.
It's probably explained on the site but how did you get a hold of the scripts in the first place? |

Nintendo is considering remaking Majora's Mask for the 3DS in a similar way to what they did to Ocarina of Time for the handheld.
Eiji Aonuma said the reason OoT got a remake was due to the high demand from the fans and because OoT has sold very well so far, if the fans demand for Majora's Mask to be remade then Nintendo would start on the project. Quote:
Aonuma did hint Majora's Mask wouldn't just be a simple graphical and 3D-effect update like OoT but the 3-Day system would be reworked to take advantage of handheld gaming. He mentioned there wouldn't be a need to rush to complete parts of the game and fit into the traditional short time play nature of handhelds. Quote:

Also discussed was the M-rating for the game was done on purpose unlike the previous games being T-rated and no collector's edition for the game is being planned. 2) EA hints Madden 12 will have very outdated rosters and the roster update will occur later than usual. The reasons given were due to the massive amount of moves teams will be doing this year and the shorter than normal time gap from rosters being locked till game is released. |

Double Dragon II is joining the list of games this generation getting a remake or reboot as Korean studio Barunson Interactive announced today the NES and arcade classic is getting a remake similar in style to TMNT Turtles In Time.
The game is being titled as Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons although the final name could be rumored to drop the "II" from the title. Confirmed so far are 4 playable characters, single and 2 player co-op modes, a 1v1 fight mode, a survival mode, 3D environments for gameplay, and the remake is mostly a port from the original arcade game. Online multiplayer co-op has neither been confirmed nor denied at the moment. The game is set to arrive this September for Xbox Live Arcade at the cost of 1200 MS points ($15) with a rumored PSN version expected later at a $14.99 price. http://www.co-optimus.com/images/upl...2-wander-2.jpg http://www.co-optimus.com/article/64...e-dragons.html ------------------------------------------------------------------ Quick News Round-Up: 1) Level-5, developer of the Professor Layton series, announced it has opened up a new US studio to help localize games quicker and to create brand new series for western markets. 2) Valve's fiancial report for the 1st half of 2011 reveals Steam has so far generated $468 million in revenue which is 42% higher than last year. Portal 2 ended up being the #1 money maker for the company and Steam overall with 1.1 million copies sold and $56.4 million earned in revenue. 3) GamePro magazine is in the process of revamping their magazine division with the decision to drop their monthly publication in favor of a new quartly publication. The plan will include a lot more content and editiorials, at least 50 more pages than previous issues, and a price increase to $9.99. |
Wonder how Double Dragon holds up, assuming they stick to the core gameplay (which I'm doubting). We need more beat em ups anyway. Something simple and fun about them.

They opened the US studio in Santa Monica, California.
The good news is for the first project, the US studio is letting fans determine which game gets localized first out of a large list of Japan-only Level-5 games. |
Phoenix Vs. Layton, easily.

EA's relationship with Valve takes another hit as another EA game has been pulled from Steam.
Dragon Age II has been pulled with no official reason given by either side but rumored reports are saying it might be due to EA's refusal to allow Steam the ability to sell the DLC packs for the game. EA is trying the same tactic they did with Crysis 2 in having DLC packs available for sale on Origin but not on Steam while also making demands that their games on Steam have full access to stuff not on Steam servers. Valve is upset EA continues to violate their terms of service with Steam and does not want to keep repatching Steam every time EA wants to add a new game or feel like changing the previous agreement. They are also upset how EA continues its refusal of sharing any DLC revenue while demanding Valve allows all stuff from Origin and restricting what Steam is allowed to do. Valve previously patched Steam to allow Mass Effect 2 and other games (mainly Free-To-Play) access to DLC content not on Steam servers and it appears Valve doesn't want to go through the hassle of patching Steam again just to please EA every time. http://fastcache.gawkerassets.com/as...07/legacy2.jpg http://kotaku.com/5825088/dragon-age...ars-from-steam http://www.giantbomb.com/dragon-age-...eam/35-508152/ ------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) EA announces the Madden 12 demo will arrive on August 8 for XBLA and PSN and feature last season's NFC title game of Chicago Bears vs Green Bay Packers. EA also confirmed the new CBA will not take effect with this year's Madden Franchise mode and they still plan for a roster update to be ready when the game is released. 2) After previously dropping and patching out the DRM requiring a constant internet connection, Ubisoft reveals Driver: San Francisco on the PC will have the same type of DRM returning. The game will also be the 1st Ubisoft game on consoles to use the Uplay Passport for online modes. 3) Konami delays Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater on the 3DS from the original Fall 2011 release date to now a TBA 2012 date. The company did not give a reason for the delay but stressed the Japanese version is still on schedule for a Fall 2011 release. |
Late Night News
THQ has killed off the Red Faction series and no longer is willing to even consider working on future games for the series.
Poor sales of the recent games and lack of consumer interest in the series was given as the reason for THQ to pull the plug. Quote:

I am surprised Red Faction has lasted this long to be honest..

Lol, EA.
While I'm not blind to say that Valve are saints, I'm glad they're doing this and I hope EA takes a hit. I was looking at pre-ordering The Old Republic, but Origin is the single most expensive place to buy it, they claimed that their digital copies were limited (by what? The digital delivery unicorns? Fuck off) AND they wanted an extra £5 for the honor of pre-ordering. Not a £5 deposit, an extra £5. If you want EA PC games, grab them from here: http://www.cdkeyhouse.com . They're usually better than half price. |

Capcom's fiscal report for the last quarter has shown the company's profits declined by 57% in comparison to the same quarter last year and overall revenue for this year is down by 23%.
In terms of actual profits, the company earned just $4.3 million for the quarter. While the company is happy with the current sales of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, they are blaming the lack of new games as the main cause of the decline. Even with the 80% increase in profits from their mobile division compared to last year, it wasn't enough to prevent a drop. While it wasn't mentioned in the report, the company earlier had strong plans to boost the end of the quarter's revenues based on the Prototype paid demo for Mega Man Legends 3 game. The delay and eventual cancellation of that game prevented the expected boost Capcom was expecting. Capcom is still expecting Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter X Tekken, and the two new Resident Evil games will provide the majority of sales and boost for their next quarter. http://i.screwattack.com/content/ima...1261422556.jpg http://screwattack.com/blogs/ScrewAt...drop-in-profit http://www.vgchartz.com/article/8737...-2011-quarter/ -------------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) In an update to yesterday's EA-Valve news, EA is now completely blaming Valve for the mess involving Dragon Age II's regarding its DLC not avaliable on Steam. EA said "We hope to work out an agreement to keep our games on Steam," even though in reality neither side is willing to discuss a way to end the situation with the biggest issue being EA wanting Origin to replace Steam. 2) Insomniac details the Resistance 3 beta will start on August 4 for early access invites (SOCOM 4), followed by European PS+ users on August 10, and then US/Canada PS+ users on August 23. The beta will have 2 maps and only Deathmath and Chain Reaction for game modes as well as level 20 cap for experience. 3) Nintendo announces some Mario related 3DS news with the next Mario Kart officially named as "Mario Kart 7" and will arrive this December for the 3DS. Super Mario 3DS now has the official name of "Super Mario 3D Land" and will arrive this November for the 3DS. |

The fallout from the disappointing financial report from Nintendo continues as the company's president, Iwata, takes full blame for the situation and will be taking a 50% pay cut to go along with reduced bonuses regardless if Nintendo rebounds later in the year.
Also announced was Miyamoto along with other high executives will be taking a 20-30% pay cut while the former president of Nintendo has lost over $300 million in stock wealth due to the news. Iwata announced the company's drastic cut in price for the 3DS was to prevent another "Gamecube'' situation where he felt the company waited too long to react to the initial decline with the Gamecube until it was too late. Besides the price cut for the 3DS and the Ambassador Program for free games, the company also announced it is reworking the Virtual Console for the 3DS to allow LAN and potentially online multiplayer starting with the NES games on the service. This is a reverse of initial philosophy of having the games be played in their classic or original state with the Wii. The price drop has upset some retailers in Japan who have announced they are refusing to sell their current stock or order any new stock until the price cut takes effect on August 11. http://fastcache.gawkerassets.com/as.../sternwata.jpg http://kotaku.com/5825872/nintendo-p...ercent-pay-cut http://screwattack.com/blogs/ScrewAt...-Player-Action ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) Level-5 is considering expanding the Professor Layton series beyond handhelds by potentially inlcuiding the Wii U with the main interest occurring due to the stylus on the Wii U controller. The studio didn't mention if the games will only be HD ports from the DS games or include new games in the series. 2) EA announces it has no interest in 3D technology for their games with the main concern of their audience is not concerned for 3D at the moment. This news contradicts earlier announcements of the company supporting the 3D on the 3DS as a new way to play. 3) In a report from Japan, the PS Vita will not be using a custom CPU chip made by Sony as initially expected but instead from Sony's main rival Samsung. The CPU is expected to be a 45 nm chip and is also expected to be used by Samsung in their cellphones as a way to give them an edge over the Vita and other cellphones. |
It's nice to see some people will still go down with the ship. An American CEO would take a multi-million dollar "golden parachute" and walk off scot-free, likely starting a new company while his old one burned.
EA's decision seems to be profit-driven. |

The once cancelled True Crime: Hong Kong game will be reappearing as Square-Enix announced they have bought rights to the True Crime: Hong Kong game and will resume development and funding for the game.
Square-Enix will be re-branding the game itself and will have the original development team for the game, United Front Stduios, work in collaboration with their own London studio for development. The company did not reveal what they will be changing but they did mention how the majority of the stuff shown previously will most likely stay for the final game. While Activision sold off the rights to the TC Hong Kong game, they still own the rights to the franchise and is expected to see how well consumers react to the new game before deciding on the series fate. The original reason Activision dropped the TC Hong Kong game was due to too much money spent during development and they felt the series wasn't able to reach Grand Theft Auto levels in sales and reception. The game should still be expected at least for the PS3 and Xbox 360 with the original PC version unknown or any additional consoles added. http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0...1600_super.jpg http://www.giantbomb.com/news/rise-f...ong-kong/3541/ -------------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) Suda 51's next project titled Lollipop Chainsaw is announced to be having a 2012 release date for US/Canada and Europe. Warner Bros Interactive also announced they are publishing the game for both markets. 2) The creator of the Grandia series, Takeshi Miyaji, died during the weekend at the age of 45 with the cause of death yet to be determined. Along with Grandia, he also worked on the GunGriffon game and the Lunar series. 3) The Witcher II for the Xbox 360 has been delayed and now has an early 2012 for the new release date. No exact reason was given for the delay but CD Projekt RED has stated they will use the extra time to polish the game up more. |

EA reveals their new EA Sports Season Ticket subscription plan officially starts today and Madden 12 will be the first game to use the service.
At the cost of $25, EA is allowing members early access to DLC at a 20% discount along with free access to all web content for their sports games. Gamestop was confirmed as the exclusive retailer to sell the Season Ticket pass in stores. Madden 12 was revealed to allow members to download and play the game early on August 27 while non-members have to wait until the official release date of August 30 for the game. As of now the plan will only be available on PSN and XBLA (2,000 MS Points). Quote:

Even though Capcom dropped the plan to charge for the cancelled Prototype paid demo for Mega Man Legends 3, the company is still goinh through with the idea of charging consumers for demos as part of a new plan to raise money for the company.
The company is starting the new plan in Japan and for the time being only for upcomming 3DS games but could expand the plan to other consoles and regions in the near future. The first game to use the new paid demo plan will be Nazo Waku Yakata and similar to Dead Rising 2, the "prequel" or intial chapter of the game will be sold seperatly to people who want to play part of the game early. Similar to the original plans for the Prototype demo, Capcom is charging 200 Yen ($2.50) for the demo of the game. It appears the main reason Capcom is going through with the new plan was due to the high demand of consumers willing to pay for the Prototype demo for Mega Man Legends 3 and the strong sales of the Case Zero "paid demo" from Dead Rising 2. http://bulk2.destructoid.com/ul/207828-header.jpg http://www.destructoid.com/capcom-to...n-207828.phtml --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) Based on a recent patent filing, Blizzard is rumored to be working on another expansion pack for World of Warcraft. The expansion could be named "Mists of Pandaria" based on the filing and would be turning an April Fool's joke into an actual game regarding the Pandarians in WoW. 2) In a meeting with investors, Nintendo reveals it is reworking their plans for the Wii U with the biggest concerns revolving on having a strong launch for the system and a flow of games to prevent another "3DS" situation. Also revealed was the initial price for both the system and controller is being rethought with the current push towards a lower price for both as a way to gain consumer trust back again and to prevent another early price drop due to weak sales if it was at a more expensive price. 3) The voice actor for GlaDOS from the Portal series leaked in a tweet Valve currently is working on another project in the Portal series and also a brand new game that will feature her voice. |

EA could be forced to end their standoff with Valve and Steam and even give Steam some of the once exclusive Origin PC games (ex. Battlefield 3) due to the early estimates of a NCAA players lawsuit reaching a potential $1 billion in damages.
The lawsuit could alter how EA handles the NCAA football franchise with options ranging from excluding schools that had members in the class action lawsuit to unlicensed teams meant to represent certain schools and conferences. EA is also currently investing heavily into their career modes for coaches and players (ex. Path to Glory, Coaching Carousel) due to those modes not requiring real-world stats and results since those modes are controlled by the user. This would be the backup plan if EA indeed looses the lawsuit and has to pay a large settlement fee. EA is attempting to counter by claiming NCAA athletes likeness and appearances would count as fair use or protected under the First Amendment as a way to not pay for certain athletes. They are also using the case Jim Brown lost when he tried to sue to get money for his likeness in video games but want it applied in a much broader scale to cover an entire league or system. Quote:

As of now the studio is in discussion with KMM studio (Mad Max, Happy Feet, etc) with the main reason due to a large amount of former Bondi employees work at that company. 3) The Rambo series is coming back to video games as a studio in the UK, Reef Entertainment, announced they have bought the rights to the series and are currently in development of the first game. The studio plans on making a new series of Rambo games with the first scheduled in 2012 for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. |

Sony debuts a new program for PSN called PlayStation Network PLAY which is set to start on August 23 and run until September 13.
Similar to Microsoft's summer deals, Sony is setting aside 1 game per week to be given special status with each game set at a $15 price tag. As additional incentives, Sony is giving Playstation Plus members a 20% discount on every title while everyone who buys all four titles gets PayDay: The Heist for free on PSN. Sony is also giving away 1 free piece of DLC per game in the program as a way to counter the lack of exclusives in comparison to Microsoft's yearly sale. Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition starts the program on August 23, followed by Death Spank "The Baconing" on August 30, then BloodRayne: Betrayal on September 6, and Renegade Ops finishes the program on September 13. http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0...cb_z_super.jpg http://www.giantbomb.com/news/sony-l...psn-play/3561/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) Runic Games announces Tourchlight 2 will not be arriving on Xbox Live Arcade due to the game going over the memory limit for the console and instead will just be released for the PC and MacOS. The company did state a retail disc version could be possible but only until the PC version is finished. 2) According to the Playstation Blog, Twisted Metal has been delayed from its original Fall 2011 release to a new date of early 2012. The series creator had been concerned the game would have been over shawdowed this Fall and pleaded with Sony to push the game back to a less packed 2012 date. 3) The next project from Notch called "Scrolls" could be cancelled after Bethesda's parent company threatened to sue if he continued using the name as the title for the project. ZeniMax Media is arguing Notch is trying to deceive and confuse consumers due to his game's name sounding too similar to their Elder Scrolls series. |
It could be canceled because it's called "Scrolls?"
That's almost as retarded as Notch's fanbase. |
According to Notch and the news from ZeniMax Media's legal team, the company already paid the fees needed to their lawyers and have a court ready to hear the case should he keep going on with the project.
The bigger news was regardless of if a case does or doesn't occur, the company already wants Notch to repay them for "damages" and other legal fees they have already spent preparing to sue him. http://www.giantbomb.com/news/bethes...f-limits/3560/ |

New details on the upcomming Borderlands 2 was officially revealed with the release of Game Informer magazine this month.

Starting this holiday season, Gamefly announces it will be giving all of their subbscribers free access to around 100 PC games in their digital services with no restrictions on how long or how many games can be played or downloaded.
For now, the company will only be including Windows-based games as part of the new service but did state their goal in the near future is to add Mac-based games for the free service. The majority of the initial batch of free games will be older titles currently in stock but the company stressed newer games will be also included for the free plan. The company is planning to integrate their social components with the online PC games and Shack News services into 1 centralized service. Also announced was if a subscriber decides to end their account with Gamefly, the games will no longer be playable similar to the model used for the free Playstation Plus members. http://fourplayercoop.com/wp-content...05/gamefly.jpg http://screwattack.com/blogs/ScrewAt...ree-PC-games-3 ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Team Bondi's merger with KMN began today as the studio sold off a majority of its assets and IP to the new parent company. The studio made the announcement of a merger being needed to keep Team Bondi from closing down after Rockstar cut off all funding and ties with the studio after L.A. Noire. 2) Capcom announces Street Fighter III Third Strike will not have any DRM for the PSN version unlike other Capcom games on the service. The official reason was to ensure offline modes worked for tournament play and the custome rules being possible. 3) One of Sony's main distrbution centers in the UK has been destroyed and set ablaze by rioters tonight by rioters in London. While the plant's destruction will impact the delivery of Sony gaming products in the UK, the company itself says they have other centers ready to pick up the slack for the short term. |

As part of the recent attempt to overhaul the entire company, THQ announces it has laid off 200 jobs, closed another 2 studios, and killed off another 2 game series.
THQ's main Australian studio called THQ Brisbane and a developer studio also located in Australia called Blue Tongue were both shut down. Along with some other moves, the total number of people laid off was around 200 this time. Following the recent news of Red Faction being done as a series, THQ announced both the MX vs ATV and the de Blob series have both been killed off with no intention of reviving either series in the future. THQ initially started the restructuring last year due to very poor fiscal year and the weak sales of UFC resulting in that series moving from an annual to 2-year schedule. http://fastcache.gawkerassets.com/as..._atv_alive.jpg http://kotaku.com/5829346/thq-cuts-2...tudio-and-more ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) Nintendo of America announces it will port all the big unreleased Wii RPGs from Japan as long as interest in the games actually shows up in sales with Europe being the test. The European branch already has the games completed for release while the US branch has already filed copyrights for most of the big Japan-only RPGs. 2) Capcom announces the Mega Man series is not dead with the company even though the recent outlook of the series has weakened a lot internally. The company's PR has stated the recent games cancelled in the series were a tough and unpopular choice but something the company felt needed to be done at the time. |

The first one sold well on the Wii with about 840,000 copies according to VGChartz's estimate but the 2nd one bombed badly with about 110,000 copies spread between Wii, DS, Xbox 360, and PS3.
I think THQ admitted the big mistake was focusing the development and advertising on the Xbox 360 and PS3 and ignoring the Wii which ended up being a huge blunder. They assumed the game would automatically sell better on the HD consoles (PS3 version included the Move) and for a while there was some confusion if the game would even appear on the Wii based on how they were hying and advertising the game. |
In a move similar to the recent news of Blizzard's Diablo III allowing items to be officially traded, Valve announces it is in the process of creating a trading service for Steam that will allow item-based trading.
Unlike Diablo III allowing cash for items, Valve's plan will not allow cash to be used and only items ranging from Team Fortress 2 hats to actual retail games to other in-game collectibles. The service is being called "Steam Trading beta" and will only allow trades to be done with people on a friend's list. As of now only Team Fortress 2 items use the service but Portal 2 is expected to be included soon. Also revealed are games received as gifts in Steam can be traded away while potentially the service could expand to any game in a person's collection. However, Valve is restricting potential game trading to only games that were never played or never registered to prevent issues with DRM and other security features. http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0...beta_super.jpg http://www.giantbomb.com/news/valve-...ing-beta/3574/ ----------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) OnLive expects to make its UK debut next month following the Eurogamer Expo with the rest of Europe being done between the rest of the year to most of 2012. The company also announced their UK and eventual European services will be integrated with the US services to create a centralized service for OnLive. 2) Ubisoft announces the Assassin's Creed Revelations beta for the time being will be exclusive to the PS3 but hints they could expand it later to include the Xbox 360. The beta will focus on the multiplayer aspect of the upcoming game with 9 characters and 3 maps included for play testing. 3) Today is the last day to register for the 3DS Ambassador program to get the 20 eShop games for free for those who bought the system before the official price drop begins. Starting tomorrow 10 games will be available with the final 10 GBA games released by the end of the year. |

Triple A Title? HD reboot? One of the best games ever made?
Gotta be Barbie Horse Adventures. |
Supposedly its a remake of Syndicate from the PC based on a rumor from about a week ago although people have been assuming the game would be next after X-Comm remake was revealed.

A new Counter-Strike is currently in development after Valve announced today they are co-working on the new CS project with Hidden Path Entertainment. Hidden Path Entertainment previously worked on Counter Strike Source and is using their experience co-developing the new title.
The game is currently being titled as Counter Strike: Global Operations and will feature a lot of new content such as leaderboards, more mods and characters, new maps along with updated remakes of classic maps, and a 5-on-5 mode using a modified Source Engine. Unlike previous CS games, CS: GO is being developed as a download-only title with Xbox Live Arcade, PSN, and Steam as the confirmed platforms for the game. The game was also given a release date of early 2012 with the first public showing occurring at Eurogamer Expo 2011 and PAM Prime later this year. [quote[In a press release, Valve said that "CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more." [/quote] http://i.screwattack.com/content/ima...1313172799.jpg http://screwattack.com/blogs/ScrewAt...er-Strike-game ------------------------------------------------------------ Quick News Round-Up: 1) Microsoft admits a glitch involving their Xbox Rewards Program ended up giving away thousands of free points to Rewards members before Microsoft found out and fixed the glitch. The glitch occured during normal MS Points payments but instead of paying out the correct amounts, the glitch caused payments to be sent multiple times although Microsoft has stated the free points will not be taken back. 2) Update on the Ambassador Program for the 3DS reveals the free NES games will intially be exact replicas from their Wii VC versions but with a limited manual. An update later in the year will bring full manuals and wireless multiplayer for certain NES games while the future GBA set will have everything except replacing save states with the in-game save systems. 3) Hideo Kojima confirms the Metal Gear Solid HD set will have more games than just the intially assumed Metal Gear Solid 2, MGS 3, and MGS Peace Walker. The original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 games are being included in the set while Japan was confirmed to be missing Peace Walker from the set. |
