You know what? I've read a lot of people complaining that they didn't put it on a bigger stage right away, but Nakamura needed to show something to the average viewer -- not all of whom have the Network. And it's not like they are on PPV where a hype job would have made the match sell anything. The people without the Network have not been sold on stuff like Brock Lesnar killing people; why would they fork out for Nakamura unless they get a taste of how special he is?

I'm not saying focus on TV like Bischoff did with Nitro, but Nakamura vs. Cena I happening on television is actually a landscape-appropriate move, in my opinion. The next time they wrestle, there's going to be that hook for the average viewer, which may not translate to much, but at least they've been drip-fed some reason to give a shit about Nakamura.

I remember seeing Fozzy on tour a couple of years ago, and there were these two girls that had followed them everywhere, and for whatever reason they had big, cardboard cutouts of Tazz Dans face. How much has your roommate followed the product over the past decade? Because anyone who has followed it even casually should not at all be surprised by Cena losing anymore. And it definitely doesn't get anyone over. I don't care if The Rock came back full-time... if he jobbed to half the roster, beating The Rock would not mean anything anymore and would only be a big deal to people who know who The Rock is and don't know the other guy because they don't really follow wrestling.

Your argument may stand true for Shawn Michaels post 2002. Cena is still well protected and it's a big deal every time he loses clean.

More news on the "Broken" gimmick situation with WWE's own attempts to file trademarks for the gimmick rejected by the US Patent Office. Like with GFW, main reason is due to Matt Hardy filing his trademark request first and trademarks being based on legal names.
