Marvel has been pretty great imo. Their big crossovers were missing the mark for me, but AvX was a return to form.
But yeah, fuck current DC comics.
What a great fucking friend Bruce is. Karen doesn't know what she's missing.
I only follow certain series now from DC..... and probably my favorite is the not in the main continuity Smallville Season 11.
This is it, guys...

I saw the Karen thing coming because he complemented her on her T-Shirt that one time.

If Yale thought that far ahead...

Where do these Lil' League strips originate?
Just finished reading Batman: The Black Mirror, and was about to say "Well maybe this new DC stuff isn't all bad" before I realized the vast majority of it was published before New 52.
So carry on fucking off new dc universe. But on a brighter note, I reccomend The Black Mirror to any of you who haven't read it. Great old school detective heavy dark knight story, by a writer who really gets Dick Grayson as Batman. |
All of Scott Snyder's Batman stuff has been pretty good. Even the New 52 stuff. Black Mirror may have been the best of the bunch, though. Have to read it again.
Unless I'm mistaken, Batman's continuity was left alone though, unlike most everyone else.
Even then, I feel they took Dick out of the cowl way too early, and subsequently killing off Damian was retarded as well. It's like no one in comics has any balls anymore. Instead of taking something new and original, that has a lot of potential and sticking with it, such as Bucky as Cap, Rogers in a Nick Fury Role, and The Grayson/Damian team, they back off and go back to what is "safe" and "traditional". Even though my favorite stories come from other writers, my favorite writer is Grant Morrison. Just cause the guy has the testicular fortitude to let his imagination run wild, and let the status quo be damned. He creates so many new characters on every run he's a part of, unlike the majority of people who just reuse the same old heroes and villains. And when he does use an established character, he reinvents them. |
I have a feeling that left in the old universe, Dick would have left the cowl behind around this point in Morrison's story, with Damian being killed and Batman, and Batman Inc., being considered wanted vigilantes again.
I like what you like about Grant Morrison as well, but in the case of his Batman stuff... I have not liked the majority of it.... but I have found what other writers had done with the status quo he built to be fantastic.
Can definitely see why people wouldn't enjoy R.I.P., but I enjoyed it. I had long ago read about a lot of the silver age nonsense that went on in Batman, and seeing used creatively here was a bit of a mark out moment. The Black Glove Organization while unfamiliar, seemed legit scary and formidable. I also loved how Joker was both written and drawn in this as well.
Really enjoyed Grant's work on Batman and Robin. Especially with Frank Quietly on the art. Always feel like something is missing when another artist draws Morrison's work. Used to hate Quietly, back when I first saw his work on New X-Men. At some point, possibly when reading All Star Superman, something just clicked, and I "got it", gaining a new apprectiation for his art style. It works so well, because his art is kind of surreal and disturbing, and it fit's Grants work so well, since his writing is so very often surreal and disturbing. I even went back and read New X-men and enjoyed it so much I'm going to buy the omnibus. |
Anyone been watching Arrow, really started to grow on me

Been watching and espousing Arrow's greatness since the Pilot. Welcome aboard sir. |
Awesome. As much as I love when JL8 gets serious and emotional, it's nice to see it can still be really funny.
Panels 7 and 9 are perfect.
Actually, the more I think about it, the more I like Batman and PG as an item. Bruce needs somebody who isn't going to take any of his shit. And who isn't a supervillain.
Is this officially endorsed by DC? I'd love to buy a book of all these strips.
Not yet, but I see a publishing deal coming soon enough.
I do not.
CATWOMAN!

Every panel is pretty much fantastic. Love the Amazonian DJ. |
Last two panels are kind of the cutest.
I will pay a good amount for a coffee table book of these strips.
You can now get a T-Shirt:

I'm so getting that.
Oh good Nowhere Man doesn't have a gay avatar anymore, so I can take him off ignore.
I've still got more friends on Team Brown than I do on Team Gorm, but I prefer to do my own thing.
Why has this not been updated with a comic?
There hasn't been a new one.
WTF
Yale's been at a convention for a few days. Next episode is Wednesday.
Thought this party would never end. Good stuff as always.
Bruce is the ultimate wing man. took one for the team and everything.
He didn't take one for the team. He came out of it with a lady friend.
Bruce always wins.
Love the look on Karen's face. Can totally hear her tone of voice.

Can Superman get HPV from eating Lois Lane's pussy?
Unlikely.
Only if she got it from the Kryptonite Man
Got bored last weekend and had the urge to do some woodworking and came up with these. Ended up not painting them till today though.

Fucking awesome.

I saw those yesterday and laughed when I saw Superman. I will wait till the final output before passing any judgement though.
I like the GL one
They're all pretty good in a "something different" way. What are they for?
Are those the "Superman 3000" sketches?

That's one more year than 2999

Supes look bad, there. Like the Batsuit, actually. Looks like an extension of what they were doing in the Nolan series. Like them all, really, except Superman.
Just once, I wanna see a redesigned Batman suit that's less demonic and gritty than the normal one.
I do like the GL one, but I think it'd be better for Martian Manhunter. |
Hard to do more gritty with Bats. I honestly can't see how to update it without adding some sort of tech look or more demonic.
Thought the GL one was The Spectre
That is also the official end of the Birthday Arc, which some fans have called the Namek Saga. Kind of long, but good show, Yale.

That was awesome. More please.
Me no am want less Bizarro.
Lol, that was cool.
And so ends season 1.
What a season. |
Glad you guys enjoyed it with me. When I made a blog for it way back it was still a few panels long. Great that Yale kinda blew up since then. Best DC read this year.
Yaaaaaaay!!!! Man, I love this strip. So well done. Bring on season 2 pronto, please.
This has also been a decent experiment in viewing a series right here in the forums. I'm contemplating posting season 2 (which will be a weekly series) in its own thread. Your call, guys.
Love it. Easier to keep the conversations on point. This is just a general thread, right? This is pretty much its own entity as much as the films and television shows are. Def. deserves an exclusive thread.
Yeah this thread started as DC movies (as the Marvel thread did) and eventually we just started talking all things DC or Marvel and I had the thread names changed. When the first season 2 strip comes I'll make a new thread for it.
JL8 returns Wednesday, its very own thread will be up the night before. I'll try to organize it in way that certain events are highlighted in the OP so newcomers can catch up better. Fairly excited.
Blecch. Wonder Woman looks like she's letting out a huge belch, Superman looks like he's looking directly into the sun, and Batman looks like he's more shocked and appalled than ready for action.
Batman looks like he has a naughty thought.
The look on Flash's face (well, his eyebrows anyway) suggest he's running to the bathroom.
And Supes looks like he's dropping a fat deuce.
lol that Flash Costume is the worst
That Flash costume looks like it belongs more in the old West than the future.

This is all I can think about whenever I see that do on Supes up there. |
Not gonna lie. I'm pretty pissed I've had to wait this long for that Flashpoint movie. DC has apparently upped their security
NOOOOOOOO.
Following Flashpoint.... it is official, the next DC Animated movie is moving into the universe of the New 52. "Justice League: War" will be based on the first New 52 Justice League story. I really hope this doesn't mean that we never see anything from the old universe adapted again.... or that we never see the old costumes as well. |
I doubt they are moving exclusively to new 52
DC Animated was, like, the last bastion of DC that wasn't contaminated with this New 52 garbage. Now that, too, is dead to me.
