I think the name is fine it kind of makes it sound like less like a territory. Once they start to tour the crowd reactions will be more like the main roster and make the product better.

It sounds exactly what it is. The next talent to join the WWE.

That's what I mean, it feels inferior. I mean it isn't of course the next generation have to start somewhere. But why make it so obvious?

That's like changing the name of the Browns to "The Rubbish Team".

But hey that's just how I feel.

Would like to see more NXT talent on other shows.

Droford 02-20-2015 10:36 PM

Lol Chris Melendez in an over the top rope match. In theory he can't lose

Calling yourself "Blue Pants" works in a high school gym with 500 people in it. Not in an arena with 15000.

I LOVE the Vaudevillians, but there's no friggen way that gimmick will translate well if they get called up.

Wishbone basically said what I wanted to about this. You're right, but not everything needs to be a main roster gimmick. She's got a connection to that particular crowd and that's worth having down there.

Also, I hope Blue Pants becomes the biggest female success in the history of the business now, just to blow everybody's mind.

The bolded part is the main problem that they are having with transitioning talent from NXT to the WWE.

The problem they have with the transition (and I've stated this before) is they don't go back to the start of the characters journey. Somebody like a Emma got over slowly with the NXT crowd until they were crazy for her. She was this weird girl that couldn't get into the ring and did a silly dance, and many didn't seem to get it at first. Over time she ingratiated herself to the NXT audience, they got behind her to the point I remember the crowd popping for her getting into the ring. Then the dance caught on. They saw her "struggle", and accepted her.

Then BAM! she's on the main roster as this "finished article", reduced to the quirky dance, and put with Santino.

Bo Dallas is a prime example. He was a smiling, old-school style babyface that the crowd rejected. This led to his development into the over-the-top character he became. On NXT the crowd knew he wasn't genuine. On arrival to WWE, the crowd didn't know what to make of him; is he genuine or is this all a little facetious.

I wouldn't say that WWE and NXT have wholesale "different audiences", but the NXT audience only represents a small minority of WWE fans. The guys (and gimmicks) in NXT could get over on the main brand, but they need to be handled in the right way.

GD 02-21-2015 02:38 AM

XL makes a very valid point. Hunter should take notes.

Damian Rey 02-21-2015 02:56 AM

Don't think it's Hunter calling the shots on the main roster. If Charlotte's debut match is any indication, he's more than likely not making many calls on the main roster.

GD 02-21-2015 03:20 AM

I hear you Damian Rey. Here's an idea. Hunter should run Smackdown! and debut NXT talents on the show while keeping them exclusive to the brand until they are ready for RAW. I truly believe that if it weren't for the brand split, talents like Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Eddie Gurrero, Chris Benoit, JBL etc. would've never achieved the success that they did.

Simple Fan 02-21-2015 03:36 AM

Bo Dallas, Emma, Adam Rose all just debuted on the main rosters just trying to get their gimmick over without really having a program. The Shield, Wyatt Family, and Paige all debuted with a solid program and proceeded to get over. I think with all the talent in NXT eventually they could do a NXT invasion type angle instead off calling up talents 1 at a time trying to get a gimmick over.

GD 02-21-2015 03:57 AM

An NXT invasion angle sounds really good in theory. It would be really difficult to outdo what they did with the debut of "The Nexus".

Vince is doing to HHH what Vince Sr did to him. Making him prove himself first.

Hear a lot about nxt being v good. Is it worth someone who doesn't really care about wrestling anymore watching it? Is it "good" because its full of indy wrestling and stuff? Or is it actually good television? Would it be worth me getting into if once these guys get really good they just leave for the wwe roster anyway?

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-21-2015 10:35 AM

I would say no because it's still wrestling. It's more like wrestling back in the day though. Titles, contenders, simplistic storylines, longer matches.

Corporate CockSnogger 02-21-2015 10:39 AM

Is it mostly wrestling for "smark faggots?" That fat guy that's the champion looks a bit shit. I guess mankind looked a bit shit too though. Suppose it depends on how he's portrayed.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-21-2015 10:44 AM

Watch the takeover specials and decide.

The crowd is a slightly more douchey TNA Asylum crowd. It's mostly for smark faggots sprinkled with Sports Entertainment.

I only watch NXT anymore. It reminds me of '80s WWF, just with better matches and less star power. Shorter shows, but stories for every level of the card. I'd recommend starting with the last couple Takeover shows. They do a good job of explaining the characters' back stories before each match and the reasons the matches are happening. If you decide it's not for you, it's not for you. For me, though, it's the only reason I even consider myself a wrestling fan, since I gave up on WWE a year ago and TNA and ROH well before that.

Anybody Thrilla 02-21-2015 03:03 PM

NXT is titties. If you're posting in this thread at all, it's at least worth a shot.

WWE might have opened itself to getting sued by Punk again since they decided to be an active participant in the Dr. Amann lawsuit.

They decided to post a video from the 2014 Rumble and claims of having no medical documents as proof of Punk lying.

CM Punk claimed this past November that during the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event on January 26, 2014 he performed with a baseball-sized, purple lump on his back located near the waistband of his tights.

WWE’s investigation has shown the following:

CM Punk did not discuss this alleged condition with WWE’s team of physicians and trainers, nor did he discuss it with anyone in our Talent Relations department.

Subsequently, WWE has no medical records documenting this alleged condition.

The first time WWE was made aware of this alleged condition was when we received a letter from CM Punk’s attorney on August 22, 2014 after WWE terminated his contract.

There is clear video evidence from the 2014 Royal Rumble, which allows all to decide whether there is any appearance of a baseball-sized growth on CM Punk’s back.

Punk previously showed off a scar of where the lump was and had said during the Colt podcast that his tights covered the lump during the Rumble. Video of him showing the scar is around the 35 seconds mark.

Most likely the lump wasn't literally the size of a baseball but the WWE not having any documents would tie into Punk's claims of the doctor ignoring to treat or diagnose Punk's illness at the time.

Corporate CockSnogger 02-21-2015 06:58 PM

Oh. I wasn't posting when cm punk left. Didn't get the chance to post about what a massive crybaby faggot he is.

My best mate Matt used to date Vicki Guerrero. This is a pic of her and their daughter, I couldn't find one of her just by herself, and it's actually a better pic of her as she really does look a lot like Vicki IRL. It's scary.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-21-2015 11:10 PM

It's actually much, MUCH more well booked than the main program. The only downside is the lack of star power/minor league feel obviously but the characters have consistency in how they're booked, the matches actually seem like they're happening for a reason, the gimmicks are enjoyable, etc. It seems written by someone with an attention span longer than a week.

And that's coming from someone who isn't into the whole "more rasslin', less sports entertainment" crowd. It's just better.
