My friend and I were walking around South Hills Village Mall in Pittsburgh back in 2005 and stumbled upon Virgil sitting at a table in the middle of the mall. Just him at a table selling his merchandise. This was not a show or anything, just some sort of Virgil mall kiosk. Seeing that he was alone and no person was talking to him, I knew engaging would be a bad idea. As we walked by I said "Hey Virgil. Loved your work. I had your action figure". He replied "Thanks, I have some if you want to buy one". Again, seeing the situation, we knew it was a bad idea to engage, so we walked away. About a minute later, I realized that he was still continuing the conversation despite the fact that we were about 50 feet away. He was talking about what all he had for sale. I replied something about how cool it was when he won the million dollar belt and then ducked into a store.

It didnt stop there. Thinking he was still at the table, we went back out and kept on walking. My friend stopped at a kiosk further down to talk to a woman selling phones, mostly cause she was hot. In about 2 minutes, Virgil came up from behind and came into the conversation. Literally, no clue as to what he was talking about, but somehow he interjected to the point of now hitting on the woman. As he was trying to get her phone number, my friend and I made an exit and tried to get away. At least a half hour later, he came up and talked to us again in a completely different part of the mall. At this point, I had to ask if anyone was watching his table. He brushed it off and kept talking. I think we faked a death or something to get out of there. When we left the mall, I kept looking in the mirror to see if he was chasing us down like the T1000.

This makes me feel we should do something along the lines of the Otunga meme we started, but with Virgil, just popping up in random places. And I have the perfect pic to do it with too!

They appeared together at an indy show here last year. I didn't manage to go to that event so I don't know how it went.

But the Indy fed did make a really awkward promo featuring Virgil where he looks at castles in Scotland for Ted DiBiase to buy.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0y5bOoJuN_0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

DiBiase is coming back to my area next Saturday but without Virgil. Tatanka will be coming back for a second time and Chavo Guerrero and Roddy Piper will be appearing for the first time.

It'll also be DiBiase's third time appearing. I don't know why, but he must love Dundee if he's always coming back. That, or funnily enough he needs the money.

Though I'm sure it's the latter. :(

He is a comedy act and barely wins. He doesn't elevate or give importance to the title. Unlike Codswell Rhodes who made the Intercontinental title mean something again.

I remember reading somewhere that since he's been United States Champion, he's only defended it four times in the space of five months.

Three times against Swagger, though Ziggler was also involved in one of those matches, and once against Otunga. He hasn't defended it since June, but SummerSlam will change that.

I hope Cesaro wins. I like him.

I can't say I mind Santino as champion since Santino is pretty great and capable of being pretty badass in the ring. I do hate the fact that they put no effort into actually using his MMA background or something to make him seem like he's a threat to any challengers to the title despite his silly character. Instead they're content in making it seem like he's a champ simply because the company has forgotten to have him defend it against anyone noteworthy.

so? the midcard titles haven't really meant anything for ages except when they wanna get behind somebody a bit. And it takes one guy to beat him convincingly and put a bit of life back into the belt for it to "mean something" again. Pro wrestling is a work, the "values" of things change all the time with however they're feeling this month. Not to mention it just doesn't matter and that Santino is more over than most of the roster

I think house show title defenses are the reason that they aren't gonna get rid of the two world title system. The ability to have a "world title" match on both Raw and Smackdown brand house shows. I think there are ways around that though. It's not worth having two world titles to water down "being on top".

I expect too much. But come on! Santino is not a good champion by any means. He has a very limited move set and he is not even that funny anymore (considering the PG environment). He is annoying and I am not sure if people really find him entertaining or just bare him because of his past "legacy".

Champions retain their straps 99% of the time. It isn't like people are going to get a surprise result or anything.

I'm not bothered by Santino as champion either, I would just like to see the title defended more and have a story building around it. :-\

I like that we have Santino and Cesaro somewhat fighting over the title and that it's lead to a title match at SummerSlam.

In my perfect world, there would be more of a reason for them having the match other than what we have right now, which is "Cesaro has beaten Santino twice so he's got a title shot". It's good and basic and it does make sense, and I think the placement on the card as the pre-show is the right place for the match, as I don't think there is that much interest in it.

If there was a strong rivalry between the two guys, with them gaining victories over each other for about two months, then I'm sure it would be on the actual card on Sunday.

I would love to see Cesaro win on Sunday and bring back the European Championship in place of the United States Championship, but the title history would remain as him holding the US Title and not the European. It would gain him so much heat, along with him speaking all the European languages before his matches and him having the old fashioned and clichéd "I'm not from America, so I'm better than you" attitude.

Personally, I think it would be an interesting angle and it could introduce us to a somewhat more serious Santino, who could very well use his MMA background and surprise his opponents and the fans during his matches by using it.

and? this means that they're worthless? it means it adds nothing to the match? you think a 9 year old kid at his first show thinks the champion is clearly going to win because titles never change hands on house shows? you think the know-it-all fan from the internet thinks it's still a dead cert the title won't change hands at the precise moment when he completely bites on a nearfall? some of the things that get complained about on the internet are staggering.

I love the idea of Cesaro calling the US title "the European title" if he wins it. Plastering the flag of a different European country over the stars and stripes on it every time he's seen with it. That would be money. And whoever took the belt off of him would just be that much more over for doing it.

Emperor Smeat 08-16-2012 06:48 PM

Santino is pretty great with his comedic role and does have the crowd interested in his matches especially for the Cobra spot. Only issue is him being a champion neither has helped nor hurt him to the point there is no real reason why he's the US champ.

Same for when Swagger was the US champ before since that didn't help him at all but for Ryder, it was huge because his buildup against Ziggler was for that special moment to become the champion.

Assuming the rumors of the WWE feelings towards Ceasrio is true, most likely Santino's reign ends this Sunday.

#1-norm-fan 08-16-2012 06:57 PM

Santino should beat Cesaro via the cobra and then start an angle where Cesaro claims Santino had a steel tip in the cobra glove and should be stripped of the title. That just came to mind for some reason.

Cool King 08-17-2012 03:11 AM

The WWE might edit it out like what they do for shows over here that are broadcast before the watershed. (or "safe harbor" as it's apparently called in the states)

When I watch Superstars, headbutts are edited out, so instead of seeing the headbutt, the camera cuts to the crowd but you still hear what's going on in the ring. So you can imagine that Tensai matches are just a blast to watch.

The same thing happens with low blows, weapon uses, slaps to the face and even Kelly Kelly's stink face and spanking of Diva's asses. So I think Santino could still be on the show, but his match would be edited if he hits The Cobra.

#1-norm-fan 08-17-2012 03:23 AM

They can't really edit out the cobra though since it would likely be the finish of the match. I can't see them just cutting to the crowd on the finishing move when they can just not have him wrestle on the show period.

More  at any notion of WWE being 'scripted'.

WWE is like a group of carnies that are on the ass end of a bad psychedelic trip whom are desperately trying to convince themselves they are not carnies.

In before the but WWE is scripted. The reference is towards the notion of them being able to successfully use and employ that term and its meanings.

I really not been keeping up with NXT at all since the revamp. :-\

Emperor Smeat 08-17-2012 06:46 PM

You haven't really missed that much considering the first few weeks have been more about getting people to know the wrestlers than anything huge in terms of storylines.

Some good matches (ex. Gabriel vs Slater) and a good focus on tag wrestlers along with Divas wrestling have been the benefits of this NXT.

Biggest loss was loosing Bray Wyatt (formerly Husky Harris) due to injury since his gimmick is the best thing NXT showed off so far.

I didn't know he was injured. That sucks. I remember seeing vignettes for his debut and it had me interested.

Hopefully he isn't out of action for long.

Emperor Smeat 08-17-2012 10:17 PM

Unfortunately he probably won't return no earlier than Jan/Feb of next year assuming no setbacks. Hurt his shoulder and then had surgery which requires 6 months to heal.

Droford 08-17-2012 10:32 PM

There's an interview with Cody in the new wwe mag, apparently he was turned down for "certain movie role" because of his lisp. It'd be funny if it was a www films movie he was turned down for

Lock Jaw 08-17-2012 11:25 PM

They should do a "Cody's Promo" movie, in which Geoffrey Rush coaches Cody Rhodes to get over his lisp in time to deliver an important Promo.

Droford 08-17-2012 11:31 PM

It mentioned he ad a speech CD..all I could think of was cable guy where Jim carreys character gets punched in the face and his lisp disappeared and then punched again to bring it back

I don't remember Goldust's 5 year old daughter cutting a promo during the attitude era. She still sounds more intimidating than Bobby Lashely.

Also, lol @ Goldust getting DQed for some reason.
