haha the cringe

OssMan 07-12-2021 08:26 AM

Lady Bird. A movie about Sacramento, a place I know very little about.

Big Vic 07-12-2021 10:48 AM

I prefer Yelena over Natasha. Hopefully we get some good movies out of her.

M-A-G 07-12-2021 02:24 PM

I'm telling you, we're going to get John Walker, Kate Bishop, Yelena Bolova, James Rhodes, and somehow or another, Amadeus Cho and Jane Foster as the next Avengers.

Destor 07-12-2021 07:15 PM

theyre building toward the dark avengers

Fignuts 07-12-2021 10:56 PM

Could be the Thunderbolts.

Destor 07-13-2021 07:13 AM

could be. but its definitely the dark avengers.

Cap, Ironman, Hulk and Widow are all gone. Valentina is going to offer the world new avengers. ultimately itll be in fighting them that this new ge of avengers will be established to the public (and the audience.)

effectively telling the audience not to live in the past.

i will quote this post with a huge i told you so in a few years.

Lock Jaw 07-13-2021 04:55 PM

Black Widow - 6.5/10

Perfectly typical average "neither good, neither bad" Marvel movie that I won't remember next week and will never watch again.

ClockShot 07-13-2021 05:45 PM

The Courier - 2.5/5

Meh. There's better true story spy movies out there.

They could certainly call them Dark Avengers. They've taken stuff from the comics and made drastic changes before. (See, Taskmaster)

But just so we're clear, the way they're setting it up has nothing to do with the comics dark avengers, and is 100% inspired by the Thunderbolts.

GD 07-13-2021 08:13 PM

Black Widow - 6/10

Solid entertainer. Florence Pugh's character was the best.

Fignuts 07-13-2021 09:00 PM

Black Widow- 8

I did notice the editing in action scenes, but it didn't prevent me from following what was happening so want really bothered. The scenes themselves had cool stunts, and good fight choreography so I enjoyed them overall.

Then there's Taskmaster.

SPOILER: show
They gutted one of the avengers more charismatic villains, and turned him into a robotic, silent stalker. What kills me is the film didn't even need this. There was already enough drama with Widow's dysfunctional "family". It didn't need this extra bit, at the cost of ditching one of the more fun villain personalities in the comics. That said, they nailed the characters powers and abilities. Very much enjoyed all of Taskmasters fight scenes.

Also, yeah, Yelena was great. If the eventual plan is for her to take Natasha's spot, she couldn't have had a better debut, to get people invested in the character.

Space Jam: A New Legacy-5/10

Felt more like a studio tour than a looney toons movie. Lacks the charm of the first one. Even the plot itself is sillier. And it’s not as engaging even though LeBron isn’t any less an actor than Jordan. It has its moments but just can’t find the charm or simplicity of the original. My kid loves it though so there’s that.

I wonder if they’ll have space jam LeBrons to go with my space jam Jordans

Space Jam: A New Legacy - 4/10

Friend wanted to go see it so I said ok whatever. Plot was nonsensical, not that I was expecting anything otherwise... but feel like the original one's plot made more sense.

Once it really got going and started there are some fun moments for sure. Eventually it became a "ignore what is going on in the foreground so you can look at everything in the background" type movie.

Destor 07-20-2021 11:53 PM

the original was aware MJ wasn an actor so they hired a comedian to carry the film along. does space jam 2 have a bill murray?

Lock Jaw 07-21-2021 12:16 AM

It's got Don Cheadle as the bad guy..... kept wanting Bill Murray to show up, though.....

They are filming the new Indiana Jones film in Scotland right now. Glasgow is doubling for 1960s NYC.

Yeah I know, Harrison Ford looks 40 in Glasgow.

They used Glasgow for World War Z too.

I feel like using Dundee would be too on the nose.

Army of the Dead - 5/10

Blonde Moment 07-25-2021 12:15 PM

Jolt 5.5/10
It didn't suck but the action just wasn't there for me.

Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage - 8/10

Amazing how to this day, the promoters are in such denial, and refuse take ANY responsibility for what happened. Blaming the artists despite massive incompetence in organizing the festival.

Fear Street 1666. (3.5)/7

OssMan 08-04-2021 12:20 AM

Pig was really good. At times it felt very profound but also profoundly dumb. The end hit pretty hard. It was emotional being back in the theater for the first time also. Peace

Seanny One Ball 08-06-2021 01:49 AM

I’m tempted to give it a go. I haven’t watched many movies lately.

The Suicide Squad - 8.5/10

Very fun, very violent, very gory. Best Harley Quinn has been in cinema. Bloodsport, Ratcatcher 2, King Shark, Peacemaker, Polka Dot man all stand out as well. FYI there's a post-credits scene.

Seanny One Ball 08-06-2021 01:42 PM

Bloodsport?

Is Bloodsport a typo or a character name?

I’m not sure which I’d prefer...

Lock Jaw 08-06-2021 01:43 PM

Bloodsport is a charcter name

Bloodsport is Idris Elba's character

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-06-2021 05:18 PM

The Suicide Squad 7.5/10

A vast improvement on the first film.
