I agree, that's why I said that it should be supplemented by being able to buy the game flat-out with no extra charges.

Onlive is going free. I forget where the link was, but I'm sure someone will post it even if I don't.

From what I've heard, it actually works great. No lag or anything, even on a pretty well outdated machine.

Kane Knight 10-04-2010 10:07 PM

Now that it's free, I think more will try it.

Kalyx triaD 10-04-2010 10:19 PM

Oh BTW... a new handheld console was recently revealed!:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jtsq99DPSoQ?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;color1=0x3a3a3a&amp;color2=0x999999"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jtsq99DPSoQ?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;color1=0x3a3a3a&amp;color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

It's designed for online MMOs and the like specifically. It has a full keyboard along with a dpad and buttons. Has Panasonic learned anything from their 3DO days that they wanna share? Maybe, but note this is from a new subcompany of Pan, not the same 3DO guys obviously.

On one hand pretentious, on the other hand... Well online browser MMOs banked hard last year - this Jungle console may be on to something.

Yeah I tried a demo of Batman Arkham Asylum and it was flawless. And my computer isn't the greatest.

Fignuts 10-05-2010 04:04 PM

Holy shit yeah, just played a demo of Borderlands, and same thing. Flawless. Definitely getting this.

LoDownM 10-05-2010 05:58 PM

Was getting stuttering while doing the Just Cause 2 demo, probably my old ass router tho.

Yeah, I saw that on the Escapist. The original show is dumb, but the video is great.

Emperor Smeat 10-06-2010 06:39 PM

Bungie tease their next game might be a shooter type MMO or at least a new series that takes place over a set world/universe similar to World of Warcraft.

Only problem in the entire plan would be if the game come out for consoles, Bungie would need a separate studio to work on the PS3 version due to lack of experience and Activision might need to buy another studio since all their other studios are tied up in other game franchises.

http://kotaku.com/5657115/halo-creat...next-big-thing

Xero 10-06-2010 06:41 PM

Yes, let's compare a game not even in development to WoW. That hasn't led to disappointment in the past.

Kalyx triaD 10-06-2010 06:51 PM

Conceptually, there's nothing wrong with that. Not like they're saying it'll be a '_____-killer' or anything.

I'm very excited to see Bungie do something non-Halo.

Emperor Smeat 10-06-2010 06:54 PM

To be fair, I was only trying to compare their idea to a more well known MMO because Bungie wants to create the game or series to take place over a certain world or universe. Probably will be more similar to their older Marathon and pre-Halo games than just being a Halo-like MMO.

Very unlikely the game gets made for the PC since they would be competing against Blizard's MMO and I doubt Activision wants to kill sales of the new game that quickly.

That lovely re-release of Super Mario All-Stars, presumed only for the Japanese market, will also be released in Europe, Nintendo has revealed.

The company's Swedish website has posted a listing (Update: now backed up by a press release stating it's a Europe-wide release) for the collection, with a release date set for December 3. Included will be a soundtrack CD and a history booklet.

That box art being in English should not only put a smile on the face of British and Irish fans; it also increases the odds of the collection making its way to North America and Australasia as well.

Super Mario All-Stars was first released on the Super Nintendo, and includes updated (well, by SNES standards) versions of NES/Famicom classics Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels

Source.

Might go ahead and buy this if I can afford it. If I can't, it's no big deal as I bought Mario 1, 2 (Japanese 2 and our 2) & 3 on the VC. As well as SMW.

So...Five years to gewt the Wiimote to do what it promised?

Emperor Smeat 10-07-2010 07:41 PM

Boss of Epic Games believes the studio can't make any games on the upcoming Nintendo 3DS since he believes the Unreal Engine won't work on it. His claim is the 3DS is below the minimum specs for the Engine even though Epic in the past has modified the engine to work on consoles and the iPhone.

This isn't the 1st time he refused to commit any development to a Nintendo system since he said Epic wouldn't make any games for the Wii since he didn't feel it was worth the time. Before the Xbox 360, the studio refused working on handheld and console games since they don't believe in the idea of a water-downed engine.

Other companies like Capcom, Rockstar, Treyarch, and a few others have been able to modify game engines to work on almost every handheld/console/phone possible when before it was thought of as "impossible" or a waste of time.

This is likely more their willingness to work, which may fall under "waste of time" or not depending on how you feel about it. I'm not sure I admire them for it, but they're capable of sticking to their guns.

Emperor Smeat 10-07-2010 09:54 PM

Everyone is assuming Epic doesn't want to bother or knows it would be competing against Nintendo games. It is a bit odd though of the boss saying the specs and engine can't be done but at the same time they are working on the iPhone which needs a customized "watered-down" version of the engine.

To be fair, the iPhone does have a stronger processor than the 3DS but it shares the power and CPU with other applications whereas the 3DS isn't sharing processor power with other non-gaming applications.

While I'm certain this game will bomb as hard as the Thor game I can let slide slowdown in an early trailer. They have bigger problems than that.

Hasbro Family Game Night 3 is coming Oct. 26th and will have The Game of Life, Twister, some Yahtzee Card game, and

CLUE! WOOOO Clue

Drakul 10-08-2010 06:30 AM

Cluedo (it's "proper" name) is awesome. I don't like the way it's been change to be more "modern" though. The actual board game has changed the setting and characters.

Instead of being a party at an old Mansion, it's some kind of Hollywood mansion. Instead of Colonel Mustard, Rev. Green, Prof. Plum, They are actors and dircetors and super models now.

I probably wonmt by any of the Hasbro videogames though. If I want to play a board game, I prefer to play the actual board game.
