Agreed. They had a good thing going. What's with the silver slivers on his shoulders?

is that for real or a hack?

Mark Bomback, who wrote Live Free or Die Hard as well as Len Wiseman’s remake of Total Recall, has been tapped to rewrite Christopher McQuarrie’s script for Fox’s The Wolverine, the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Variety reports that the Wolverine sequel will find the film’s eponymous hero suffering from amnesia and trying to find answers by examining his past in the Yakuza underworld of Japan. Except for Hugh Jackman as Wolvie and a “newly expanded” character named “Viper” who is the Caucasian secretary of Japan’s Minister of Justice, the entire cast will be composed of Japanese and Japanese-American actors.

Just a couple of weeks ago Fox was set to begin filming The Wolverine in Canada in November (see “Wolverine Sequel Filming in Canada”), but then the studio apparently decided “for reasons that remain “somewhat murky” to push the start of filming back to the spring of 2012. With the announcement of the hiring of Bomback it appears that the studio may have felt there were problems with the script that needed to be fixed before embarking on the expensive production.
Ah well.

Kalyx triaD 09-03-2011 01:51 PM

Waiting and waiting...

Captain of Fun 09-03-2011 02:09 PM

I like that Viper is in it. Hope they do her more justice than they did deadpool.

Kalyx triaD 09-06-2011 10:17 AM

Gregg Clark's Agent Coulsen will appear in the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon placed undercover - as the high school principal.

Inadequacy 09-06-2011 11:24 PM

You mean Clark Gregg but that's totally awesome.

dronepool 09-07-2011 12:00 AM

WW2 Cap looked better, this sorta looks like he's gonna go ride in some BMX competition or something.

Kalyx triaD 09-07-2011 12:22 AM

I'm already cool with Avengers Cap, but I'm a Power Rangers mark. Hawkeye looks great. I like Loki's new duds as well.

Thor has one of those costumes that just looks badass even in candid production pics.

Lock Jaw 09-07-2011 12:39 AM

I have not seen Loki's new duds. Pics?

dronepool 09-07-2011 01:04 AM

Hawkeye's transition is as good as Iron Man's IMO.

They should have left some stuff from the WWII outfit, like maybe the brown pouches and darker shades of color in boots and gloves, like a reddish brown type of color. Come on now... blue pouches? What is this, a Northface utility belt?
I seriously I hope this movie is awesome but this rendition of Cap makes him look like he's gonna race cars in NASCAR or jump over 20 flaming cars with a bike.

Shadow 09-07-2011 04:22 PM

The Captain America costume suffers from one thing...how the fuck do you make it work in real life?

Seriously...the damn thing is so silly.

Kalyx triaD 09-07-2011 04:25 PM

That's funny because that was the crux of the gag in First Avenger's stage show sequence - and then they give him a suit that looks a lot like the one they were making fun of.

alvarado52 09-07-2011 05:33 PM

Maybe it looks. Better in motion. I don't like the helmet, and how it connects to the suit

Shadow 09-07-2011 07:21 PM

Shouldn't be a helmet at all. Not sure why they keep making it a helmet. Should just be a mask. With wings. How fucking hard is it to make that mask?

Captain of Fun 09-08-2011 12:57 AM

Would look even more ridiculous with wings.

Shadow 09-08-2011 01:04 AM

Doesn't look that bad in the comics.

Lock Jaw 09-08-2011 01:13 AM

Should have just used the same costume from First Avenger. Really not sure why they changed it. Perhaps there is a reason.

Rammsteinmad 09-08-2011 08:34 AM

Yeah, the costume from First Avenger was fucking P.E.R.F.E.C.T.

Kalyx triaD 09-08-2011 08:35 AM

Between SHIELD and Stark, of course he'd get something updated fictionally speaking once they put him back to work. Production wise, he really needed to move better than he did in First Avenger. Looks like he's in more melee combat now. The pouches could have been brown and I miss the chin scrap, though.

McLegend 09-08-2011 10:55 AM

If you are going to put pictures in here... Can you please put spoiler tags on it? Now in the Avengers thread you can do what you want, because that's the thread and if I go in there I procede at my own risk

Kalyx triaD 09-08-2011 11:02 AM

Ah yes. Will mirror this in the DC thread.

Rammsteinmad 09-08-2011 12:04 PM

And how come Cap get's a fancy helmet but Hawkeye and Black Widow don't? That's pretty risky. Especially as they don't have Super-Soldier enhanced abilities. :nono:

Kalyx triaD 09-08-2011 12:31 PM

Black Widow who made Justin Hammer's security look like "mall cops", and I don't know if you've heard, but Hawkeye makes any team better.

Kalyx triaD 09-14-2011 03:16 PM

Ultimate Spidey's new costume will be available in the upcoming Edge of Time game. Looks good, I hope it gets into UMvC3.

Lock Jaw 09-14-2011 03:35 PM

Spidey-Bulge

Rammsteinmad 09-14-2011 04:57 PM

Oh I see... Black guy automatically has a black costume right?

Kalyx triaD 09-14-2011 05:05 PM

Yes.

Sixx 09-15-2011 04:31 AM

Wait, what?

Ultimate Spiderman is a black guy?

What's the fuckin' deal with the Ultimate universe being all black?

It's like Al Sharpton does the writing.

Kalyx triaD 09-15-2011 11:27 AM

This isn't the first time you were concerned with race, Sixx. Just saying.

Sixx 09-15-2011 04:07 PM

I know.

alvarado52 09-16-2011 01:38 AM

Half black half Hispanic. Looks pretty much black though

Sixx 09-16-2011 03:14 AM

From wiki:

Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Axel Alonso said, "We realized that we were standing at the brink of America elected (sic) its first African American President and we acknowledged that maybe it was time to take a good look at one of our icons".[3] This new Spider-Man was considered a possible part of Ultimatum, a story arc that restructured much of the Ultimate Marvel universe, but those early thoughts were abandoned because the story for that character had not yet been developed.[3] Bendis said thoughts about the character were further enforced by African American actor Donald Glover's appearance wearing Spider-Man pajamas on "Anthropology 101", the second season premiere of the television comedy series Community.

Seriously.

Kalyx triaD 09-16-2011 12:16 PM

Seriously what?

Captain of Fun 09-16-2011 12:18 PM

The Danny Glover part is pretty ridiculous.

LuigiD 09-16-2011 12:20 PM

Typically not that big into changing the race of characters but this one doesn't bother me. Hate it more when they change the race of an already established character. This to me is just the introduction of a new one.

Rammsteinmad 09-16-2011 05:04 PM

To be fair, it's not like this black dude will be Spider-Man forever. Even in the Ultimate universe, Peter Parker will be back eventually.

Donald Glover. Danny Glover is still hoping for another Lethal Weapon movie check.

McLegend 09-16-2011 11:34 PM

Just saw X-men Origins Wolverine.

It was better then I thought it would be. Liev Schreiber was really good. Honestly though I feel like they should reconn the Wolverine franchise too match up with the superior X-Men first class.

I feel like that wouldn't bother people.

Kalyx triaD 09-17-2011 12:17 AM

Logan was seen in First Class, I assume around a point he lost his memory (when was the Three Mile Island incident?). It all still adds up.

no it doesnt... the charles xavior in origins was patrick stewart, saying he was much older than he was when he saw wolverine in first class.

plus right after 3 mile island, cyclops, storm, emma frost etc etc were all picked up by xavior.

Kalyx triaD 09-17-2011 01:33 PM

So I guess... before Team X, in a time separated by his brother?

Reavant 09-17-2011 01:43 PM

Reavant 09-17-2011 03:52 PM

yea i would think...

Reavant 09-17-2011 03:53 PM

didnt it say in the movie about them being in canada seeing him?

ah i dunno cuz they had him sucking down shots so i dunno

Kalyx triaD 09-29-2011 02:00 PM

When Hugh Jackman's done with some French movie remake, he's jumping right into The Wolverine. With a new director and a slightly revised script (still based on the landmark Japan arc from Frank Miller's run), Jackman is very confident in getting the definitive Wolverine on screen.

Thor 2 also has a new director slated for 2013 release. We'll be seeing some new worlds this time.

Captain of Fun 09-30-2011 03:22 AM

Rumors going round that the chick who directed Monster is being pegged for it.

Yeah, that's a great fit.

Captain of Fun 09-30-2011 03:23 AM

Speaking of Thor, we're one issue away from the end of Fear Itself, and it still hasn't hooked me at all. At this point I'm only reading in the vain hope that bucky cap will somehow be brought back in the end.

Reavant 09-30-2011 06:23 PM

Lock Jaw 10-03-2011 01:45 PM

Haven't read Marvel since the beginning of Dark Reign. Wish I had the time to catch up on stuff.

Captain of Fun 10-03-2011 08:34 PM

Cap telling off Odin was pretty awesome though, I'll say that much.

LuigiD 10-04-2011 10:11 AM

Recently got back into reading Marvel. Took a break after Dark Reign. Liked the X-Men Fear Itself story so far.

I guess not completely related to the topic but..does anyone collect the Marvel Universe figures? love them. Have most of them. A nice replacement for the Marvel Legends that really went downhill once Hasbro took over.

Pretty sure most people would love to see Wolverine take a different direction from XMO.

Which, I agree, wasn't as bad as I expected, but it could have been a lot better.

Rammsteinmad 10-16-2011 05:00 PM

Wow, pretty cool how they're fleshing out the Marvel Universe now, and showing how all these movies/incidences are connected.

Rammsteinmad 10-16-2011 05:01 PM

'Hidden on the Thor Blu-ray".

So are these clips BR only, or are they on the DVD's too. I haven't upgraded to BR yet, but would hate to miss out on these short clips. :(

Kalyx triaD 10-16-2011 06:04 PM

It's only two so far. Hoping for a Black Widow and Hawkeye short.

Captain of Fun 10-20-2011 12:59 AM

Fear Itself is over. Kinda sucked.

Schism on the other hand, was wonderful.

Rammsteinmad 10-20-2011 02:27 PM

Soooo... ANOTHER Phoenix/Jean Grey drama?

Rammsteinmad 10-20-2011 02:29 PM

Something about the woman behind the counter of that Agent Coulson video doesn't sit right with me.

'What do I tell the Police?' would indicate that there's no security cameras in there, which is fucking crazy because I always assumed most petrol stations have security cameras in them, at least aimed at the counter anyway. So we're meant to believe a young woman has accepted a night job at a gas station in the middle of nowhere, with no means of security? Pretty unbelievable to be honest.

Unless she's secretly a Skrull! :shifty:

Kalyx triaD 10-20-2011 02:30 PM

I'll buy that.

Lock Jaw 10-20-2011 06:11 PM

Everybody is a Skrull. Agent Coulson is a Skrull.

Captain of Fun 10-20-2011 06:57 PM

I don't mind a new Phoenix story. Doesn't necessarily mean Jean is coming back, btw. Phoenix is an entity unto itself, don't forget.

The Destroyer 10-21-2011 02:57 AM

Based on the writers, I smell it being a crossover event universe wide, rather than just an X-Men thing.

Next Big Thing 10-21-2011 07:46 AM

Didn't they allude to the Phoenix and Hope Summers in the last X-men Schism? I think it was a convo between Cyclops and Emma, but I may be mistaken.

Yeah but recently the Phoenix and Jean are one and the same. So odds are Jean's coming back and Scott's gonna be feeling a bit guilty.

Cause he's a douche.

Reavant 10-21-2011 02:01 PM

Ive heard jean from AOA is somehow coming over to be on wolverines team

Kalyx triaD 10-21-2011 02:33 PM

Kalyx triaD 10-21-2011 02:34 PM

Marvel continuity, I love you. You have no qualms ending Peter Parker's marriage and having Spidey 2099 in the 616 universe. Don't get me started with the Sommer's bloodline.

Captain of Fun 10-21-2011 05:08 PM

Yeah, X-Force is in the AoA right now.

X-force is a great book btw.

DaveBrawl 10-22-2011 06:54 PM

Sweet, Marvel is supposedly going to be launching a new Age of Apocalypse series sometime next year. I had a large chunk of those books years ago and I loved that series more than the standard X-Men stories. I'm definitely looking forward to this.

Uncanny X-Force #19.1 is the springboard of it and will be out in January.

Because it was a full power optic blast and it blew the adamantium covered bones clean off. Can't grow the bones back, so no hand.

Sixx 10-23-2011 06:46 AM

Oh. Always thought adamantium was like undestroyable or somethin'.

Funky Fly 10-23-2011 06:49 AM

Yeah, for the most part. The hand was blown off through sheer concussive force. The bones are probably still in tact a long way from where the fight happened just with no flesh on them.

Sixx 10-23-2011 07:04 AM

So if someday Logan finds the missing hand can he like reattach it?

I know this might sound like a retarded question, but I just don't fully understand how his healing factor works.

The Destroyer 10-23-2011 08:11 AM

Neither do the writers. They just use it to suit the story, I think.

Sixx 10-23-2011 09:49 AM

Ok, so I guess he will get his hand back.

Captain of Fun 10-23-2011 11:47 AM

Nah, probably not.

dronepool 10-23-2011 11:48 AM

Fear Itself was a steaming pile of shit. From now I will not subscribe to 'major Marvel events' (at stores) without reading the first issue or two. Uncanny X-Force and Amazing Spider-Man are the most enjoyable titles from Marvel for me. Might even stop following Avengers/New Avengers after the whole Dark Avengers Return arc just to buy less over priced comics.
