you know, I'm just inlove with Diana.

Bruce Timm has stepped down from DC Animation. I won't freak out or anything; he's gave me great stuff for 20yrs. He served his term and the era ends with dignity and class. His successor has a lot of work to do. Good luck. And thank you, Bruce Timm.

Just got through my March Batman monthly, which is the jumping off point for the next story line following the recent Joker saga.
SPOILER: show |
Because Grant Morrison.
I know it's Image and not DC, but Image doesn't have its own thread. You guys have GOT to read Saga; it's fucking incredible.
An Image character is popping up in Marvel so I'd put updates in that thread. I feel Image and Marvel have more parallel. On the other end, Dark Horse stuff would go here if I had to say something about them.
I've talked about Saga in this thread before. It is indeed "the bomb".
The Private Eye, also by Brian K. Vaughan, is pretty good as well. .... As is pretty much everything of his I have read. |

Without following the link, I'll assume this is for a potential comic book to continue the storyline.
Another superb episode of arrow. Looks like we're going to see some fireworks soon.
Love this show so much.
Well... okay.
.....they killed Damien off for....this?
She's just appearing in mainstream continuity. She isn't officially Robin or anything. (Yet)
Though she will be seen in a Robin costume:
http://i.newsarama.com/images/Carrie-Kelley_full_02.jpg I don't think she will end up as a new Robin, though. Also, that dude in the background in the Superman costume has a better costume than Superman currently does. |
This has been the longest 8 year old's birthday party ever.
I fucking love Bruce! And this comic.
Did they even eat the cake yet?
Yeah, man.

 The line at 0:16 |
Love how they did their best to make it seem g-rated.
My god, all those smiles... it's like a 80's/90's sitcom.
Ted Kord is coming to the CW's Arrow. Think about that for a sec.
It amazes me how much better of a handle this guy has on Superman in particular, and everyone's personalities in general, than pretty much anyone currently working for DC.
anyone got a list of DC animated movies for this year
May 7th - Superman: Unbound (Based on the "Braniac" story arc by Geoff Johns)
July 30th - Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (Based on Flashpoint) |
cheers

Also Xena, but the overlap there is another story. |
So...Superman Unbound has made it to the pirate bay...the quality looks great.
OOOH Shit! The interaction between Supes and Kara is awesome.
Overall...decent movie. Need to rewatch as i was preoccupied while watching the movie. Initially I'd give this movie 6/10
I'll probably find a stream or something later tonight. Cool :-D
I loved Arrow this week.
This was the most 'CW' Arrow so far. Lot's of melodrama...And with that much sap, I still found myself liking the episode.
I enjoyed Superman: Unbound. Hope they go for a "sequel".
Superman: Unbound was good.
ARROW WAS AMAZING TONIGHT!!! There are a lot of payoffs coming soon.
Really need to catch up on that. So behind. Last one I watched was with the Blackhawks or something.
You're in a good spot actually, cuz you get to run off about 5 hours of shit that really advances the story of this season.
They did a LOT of name dropping this week. Well not a lot but I caught some nifty little nuggets that really help to broaden the 'universe' so to speak. I love the potential for this show.
The fight scene from last night was great.
Daaaaamn. Invulnerability weak to kryptonite, magic, and THE FRIEND ZONE.
This strip is SO FUCKING GOOD.
MY HEART HAS BEEN SHATTERED!
Smallville Season 11 comic continues to make me wish it was on TV.
http://geek-news.mtv.com//wp-content...6-mtv-geek.jpg |
Yeah, it has been pretty fun.
I just read all 123 of those comic strips- that guy is a genius.
The New-52/Legion of Bullies arc was awesome.
Original New 52 series, "Demon Knights" and "Legion of Super-Heroes" canceled. No effect on the cancellation pool.
The Glass is half full. Love this strip more than I love anything else DC is doing right now.
Man, I didn't even get that "glass is half full" message until I read your post. I was just like "Yo, what's up with this dramatic shot of his drink? Is this foreshadowing of a drinking problem?"
lol

Sorry, if I ruined it. Maybe shoulda added spoiler tags.

Not at all. It added so much more when you told me what they were going for.
And she's already breaking out the bondage gear.
Thought the birthday party saga was finally over with that last strip. Guess it continues.
arrow finale was good. they may have tried to wrap up too much too quickly in the space of one episode, though. just felt very intense the whole time. i really enjoyed it, but a couple of times i was like 'jesus, are they gonna slow down at any point?'
oh, well, i guess they did - lot of "there's no time for this but let's make out while we're racing to stop a disaster" moments, which irked me a bit. but generally, i must say, it's done a great job of picking up from being okay at the outset to actually being a show that i'm excited to see each week. also, SPOILER: show |
Apparently DC's doing a tie-in comic if you do the pre-order thing with the Man of Steel DVD/Blu-Ray pack. Normally this wouldn't be too significant, except for two major things:
1) It's written by David Goyer, and it's considered canon in the new continuity. And 2) One of the major characters we see in it? SPOILER: show |
omg
Mind BLOWN. it's literally oozing outta my ear right now
James Robinson leaving DC Comics. Too bad. His Earth 2 series has been one of the only New 52 books I can stomach keeping up with. Was looking forward to him having a lengthy run on that book and building that world.
I hope whoever takes it over is not crap. |
Seems like DC is just bleeding talent these days. Pretty soon it'll just be Geoff Johns and whatever abominations Scott Lobdell churns out.
Was gonna make a comment about "Hopefully not Scott Lobdell"
Quote:
Yeah, they did have a few aggrivating "drama" moments throughout the series, such as Thea arguing with Roy about "not having time" after the "redundancy" kicked in, but in the time it took her to argue the point, dramatically kiss, and leave, they BOTH could have saved that bus full of people and all went on their merry. I get they have to have their requisite ammount of CW-ing, but still... SPOILER: show |
Does anyone here Batwoman? I have to say I'm hooked.
I should catch up on it. I loved Batwoman in the old continuity, and liked the first few issues of the new series that I read.
I fucking loved Damien and Steph's interactions.
Yeah, I'm sorry, I tried to like new 52 but I just can't. I had gotten so invested in DC before flashpoint, moreso than I've ever been, and then they just took a big smelly dump on it.
This should have been an Elseworlds thing. |
Just finished re-watching the Christopher Reeve Superman series (not all at once, over the course of several days).
Somehow, I had never seen The Richard Donner Cut of Superman II. Thought for sure I had seen it, but turns out I didn't. I loved the Marlon Brando scenes. I liked that they actually explain how Supes got his powers back too, it always bugged me. "lol" at him using the turn back time gimmick at the end of the movie again, though. Got to wonder why he even bothered fighting Zod, or blowing up his fortress, when he was just going to go back in time and make everything not happen. Also, they used alternate takes of some of Terrence Stamp's lines that were not as good as in the theatrical version. Particularly this line: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QYNiwU8hk5M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Theatrical <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/j4cBRJXSNso" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Donner Cut All in all, I liked a lot of stuff from the Donner Cut, but missed some of the stuff from the Theatrical. They should make an "ultimate cut" combining both in the exact way that would make me happy. |
Also, I apparently had never seen Superman IV. Or it has been so long that I had zero memory of it. Definitely not as bad as I thought it would be. Better than Superman III.
Sure, there are some gaping plotholes ("lol" at Lacy surviving being taken into space without a space suit), and bad special FX.... but on the whole... it had potential. Just read that it was cut down from 137 minutes to 90 minutes. Though there is probably zero demand for it, they should release a director's cut. |
I don't like the turning back time ending for Superman II. Works way better for Superman I.
Reading up on it, that is apparently exactly what Donner thought, so he decided to use the ending for Superman I, and was going to make a new ending for Superman II. He did not get around to it, though.
lol that was actually pretty good.
Feel like those last 2 panes are mimicking something else.
Diversionary tactic, or reality?
He has the rope on him.

I find it kind of humorous/sad that the worst thing about Marvel & DC these days is the comics. The games, movies and cartoons and even fan fiction like JL8 there are all generally all pretty good or in many cases great. Whereas the supposed cornerstone of the company is pretty mediocre at best.
The new 52 seems to be panned for the most part, and while it has been a year or two since the last time I tried to read a Marvel book their stuff wasn't a whole lot better. The issue of Iron Man I read seemed more like a freshman level engineering text book than a comic, Captain America was just boring, and the Hulk (with Banner and Hulk getting separated) was probably the best of the three because the concept was at least interesting even if the execution was "meh". Of course they ended up putting them back together so the interest there was fleeting. I mean the movies and merchandising and such makes loads more money I'm sure, but it seems like you want more stories and such available for future reference to make future movies and animation off of. |
I let go of the actual comic universes long ago. I just keep up with general news. I follow all the other media more.
