Yup

I really wish that instead of just throwing Paige into a match with Nikki Bella at Fast Lane, that they'd have had Paige and Nattie have a ladies match that would have torn the house down. I mean why not?

I also wish that William Regal's old relationship with Layla would bring her down NXT way. There are a few girls jockeying for position down there, but I think Layla would get more time to shine as a personality in NXT. She could be a sort of dark mentor to Sasha Banks. She'd give Banks someone to take the fall for her that isn't a young NXT star in her own right.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Ring of Honor is currently dealing with a lot of financial issues that basically come from Sinclair Broadcasting, which owns ROH, not getting more behind the company.

COO Joe Koff met with head officials at Sinclair back in December to try and get them to expand the budgets for 2015 and 2016, pushing the idea that ROH could become the #2 wrestling promotion in the country. Koff brought Adam Cole and The Briscoes to the meeting for them to do pro wrestling style promos on how TNA was losing steam moving to Destination America and that ROH could become #2 in the US. The pitch reportedly failed.

ROH's December pay-per-view, their second show on standard PPV, did just 8,000 buys and that didn't help things either. The 8,000 number is said to be under the company projections but not by a large number.

Sinclair officials told Koff to be more disciplined with spending this year. There's a feeling that Sinclair wants ROH for consistent programming on their network but are not interested in investing a lot or taking chances to build them.

These financial issues are the reason why talents like Roderick Strong, Maria Kanellis and Mike Bennett aren't under contract. As noted before, TNA, Lucha Underground and New Japan Pro Wrestling all have interest in signing the duo of Kanellis and Bennett.
Also possibly related to why this year's NJPW-ROH crossover show will have less guys from NJPW showing up.

Fignuts 02-04-2015 09:28 PM

Every thing I've heard about Sinclair has implied that they have no idea what they're doing, and that ROH made a big mistake getting involved with them.

So how long til it's revealed that Vince has secretly bailed them out at times.

Emperor Smeat 02-05-2015 12:36 AM

According to F4W, the rumor about Kalisto becoming a gay hairstylist was debunked from their sources while Ziggler vs Bryan is no longer being considered as a possible Mania matchup at the moment.

About the same time we lose one of the guys on commentary from RAW due to a situation with his wife, and he gets replaced with Nigel McGinnis

Another story regarding the perception of WWE right now. Someone that I know who works in TV ad sales was working with Dodge, which had bought time on shows that underperformed in the ratings, so they were owed make good spots. The person suggested since the ads were essentially free at this point, to make good, how about moving some spots to Raw, since it draws well in the 18-49 demo, which is the demo that buys cars. The advertiser when given the suggestion first said that WWE would not be something they would ever purchase. There were reasons given, having to do with a theme WWE was doing locally that made the company more advertiser friendly in theory in that market. Still, the response was, “I do understand that but WWE doesn’t make sense for Dodge Dart. WWE is very trashy. Not, appropriate for our target.”
Even with the PG Era, WWE still having trouble getting more big advertisers on board (and more money for them).

It’s still not confirmed that Bryan vs. Ziggler was nixed so Bryan could face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 31, and most expect Lesnar vs. Reigns to still happen, but there’s already talk that Ziggler may be in tag team action at WrestleMania 31.

SPOILER: show
Ziggler and Ryback will team up on tonight’s SmackDown and apparently there’s a reason for tonight’s match. WWE officials are considering putting the two together as a permanent tag team and have them wrestle together at WrestleMania 31.

Spoiler used since its relates to this week's Smackdown episode.

Former UFC star Chael Sonnen claimed during a TSN “Off the Record” appearance that WWE had invited both him and Wanderlei Silva to WrestleMania this year to talk business. WWE has since issued a statement denying any invitation has been made to have Sonnen attend WrestleMania.

According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE has wanted to work with Chael Sonnen for quite sometime, however when he tested positive for steroids, WWE decided to back off on negotiating with him until the steroid heat/label ran its course. Once ESPN began working with Sonnen and made his name more mainstream again, it seemed likely WWE would once again pursue negotiations.

With regards to why WWE might be wanting to negotiate with Sonnen and/or Silva, speculation is everything from pro wrestling to them having an exhibition fight. At one point, WWE was interested in having Sonnen work for the company as an announcer.

I’ll bet Lucha Underground did their own version with fewer than five agents and spending a whole lot less time on it and came out with a three times as good match even while having less name talent at their disposal.

One week after WWE had confirmed and gone full steam ahead with Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns as the WrestleMania main event, things may have changed.

On the 2/2 Raw show from Denver, a promised major announcement was that Daniel Bryan would face Seth Rollins on the show, in a match Bryan won. The winner would then face Reigns on the 2/22 Fast Lane PPV in Memphis to determine who faces Lesnar at WrestleMania.

The show saw Reigns positioned heelish in a late show confrontation with Bryan, and again in a face-to-face on Smackdown. Reigns also inexplicably lost to Big Show in what is believed to have been his first singles loss on the main roster after more than two years, or at least on a major show, which was thrown away in a meaningless situation that was never even brought up.

If the idea is to go with Reigns as the hot babyface, the guy he should be kept away from is Bryan, who is considerably more popular. With Bryan having already gotten screwed in the eyes of the fans at Royal Rumble, having him lose to Reigns will only infuriate the fans more. If the belief is that making the fans madder will heat up business, the post-Rumble boost of WWE Network numbers could be taken as evidence of that, well, then they can go put Reigns in a situation where in the end it’s going to hurt him getting over. And there is also a situation where you push too hard in always beating the most popular face and it starts to wear our and backfires.

If the idea is to go with Reigns as a heel champion, then beating Bryan would make sense, but he would need someone to talk for him in that situation. It does make sense since he’d have far more viable opponents as a heel champion, since as a face champion you’re pretty well limited to Rusev and Rollins.

Some other sheet news include the WWE only has Triple H vs Sting set in stone for Mania with everything else being reconsidered (ex. Reigns vs Lesnar) or likely dropped (ex. Orton vs Rollins because of Orton's injury status).

Innovator 02-05-2015 08:00 PM
