It's not because he was in the group from what I understand. They just bought rights when WCW were shutting up shop. Eventually Nash bought Halls from him too so has makes very sizable royalties on them.

Apparently he went into a rage when the Hogan story broke and they took them offline.

Ended up deceiving people who bought tickets or donated money to the show thinking it was going to the deceased wrestler's family and/or cancer-related charities. Instead they are pocketing all the money and felt they already did enough for the wrestler while he was alive.

A couple wrestlers involved in the show got really upset and are donating their pay from the show to a cancer charity called Cavendish Cancer Care.

So apparently this became an even bigger mess recently because PCW found a new way to piss people off.

WWE's UK signee Pete Dunne promised to donate his wages from the special show to charity and use his own promotion called ATTACK to help raise more money.

PCW for some dumb reason thought it was a wise idea to verbally attack both Dunne and ATTACK because they were donating money to make up for PCW being slimeballs. Dunne pulled out of PCW's memorial show as a result and maybe even future events for the company.

So a lot of Chris Benoit-related promos have appeared in my recommended videos on YouTube... and watching back some of these, I gotta say, Chris Benoit was fucking terrifying!

Knowing how his life ended, and with reports since his death coming out of how he was a backstage bully/part of JBL's hazing crew or what have you... his on-screen intensity, to me anyway, has suddenly shifted to a whole new level.

It's crazy how, even in a scripted promo, legitimately intense and scary he is. How Maven didn't just break down and start crying is amazing. Looking back at any of his promos, they're all so similar. He starts off calm and quiet, and within seconds goes to raging psychopath with veins popping out of his neck and getting right up in people's faces. I can totally understand why people like the Miz were intimidated by him back in the day.

Just thought I'd share that...

Rammsteinmad 02-21-2017 02:23 PM

He's still one of my all-time faves though.

Mr. Nerfect 02-22-2017 05:20 AM

Randomly gone back and watched Judgment Day 2000. Man, what an insane PPV.

* The Vince McMahon rallying the troops intro is a cool update on the "run down the card" approach. I'm curious as to know the psychology behind spots like that, given that those watching the PPV have already ordered, but I thought this was creative.

* The six-man tag opener is a lot of fun. Kurt Angle had such good chemistry with Edge & Christian. The match has these cool little spots that stick out in your mind. Too Cool were so fucking over. It's silly without being over the top. It feels like a bunch of guys trying to get one over the others and never does anything like "slow motion."

* The simple story of Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn being a bit pissed off with Eddie Guerrero for having a new girlfriend goes down well. I can't put this into context with television, but it doesn't feel like they hate anyone but Chyna. You can buy them as buddies fighting looking to get away with a title. The story of them all trying each others' moves was cute too, but I don't think the crowd completely got it.

* I really enjoyed Shane McMahon vs. The Big Show. I never really got into Show, but there's something, in retrospect, that I like about Shane being pissed off at Show for losing at Mania and making fun of his coping mechanism of having fun. It "lights a fire" under Show. The spot where Show tossed Shane into the logo on the stage is hilarious. They worked well together. The string of heels coming out makes sense given the context of the match. It feels like this was done to write off Big Show, but he actually looked pretty good for a big slobbering giant. We may have been conditioned to that by Show's later career. It's weird to think of this period as a time where Show was flopping, but he actually looks really good.

* Benoit vs. Jericho was a really good Intercontinental Championship match. I've seen it before, but I forgot they did the "pass out in the hold" spot outside of Austin/Bret. It feels like a really protected finish and there is a lot of shine put on Jericho here. It feels like they really did expect him to be big.

Mr. Nerfect 02-22-2017 05:26 AM

* Gerald Brisco walking around as Hardcore Champion is genuinely funny. It tells a show-long story too. It allowed them to get creative without getting too cute in actual matches. I had forgotten how fun some of that stuff around that belt was.

* Shawn Michaels interacting with The Rock is a gem.

* I don't really get why they distract the referee in the Tables Match. Whatever. Bubba Ray surprisingly good worker even then. X-Pac is really good. I forget why X-Pac Heat was a thing. Dude is playing his part perfectly. He takes a vicious powerbomb through the table. Road Dogg is a lot better than I remember too. Man, today's guys pale in comparison to these dudes. I completely forgot about the spot where they toss Mike Chiota through the table. For some reason this doesn't come off as stupid, but rather plays up the heat these two teams have. It also builds off "rules" being enforced earlier. Well put together match with a clever ending that made you want to see these teams fight more. I forgot about Brisco taking the 3D through the table. Fucking legend.

* Jim Ross is an amazingly good announcer.

Mr. Nerfect 02-22-2017 05:48 AM

* The video for the Iron Man Match is genuinely getting me hyped. It helps that I don't have 2000 recorded to memory, so I don't actually remember exactly where the belt switches and such, but placing myself as a fan heading into it, I would have been genuinely excited at the time because I am watching it back. I would have been so hungry for an HBK return though.

Mr. Nerfect 02-22-2017 05:59 AM

* Triple H genuinely great in the build, it seems. What comes across in this time is how verbal he was. That added to his character and made him stand out. He was a villain who would talk a lot of shit in a roundabout way -- and it would equate to great heat! He's telling The Rock all the ways he'll take a victory and The Rock is just like "Bring it" over and over again, because The Rock -- great talker we remember him being -- is all about walking the walk.

* Triple H and Shawn Michaels not discussing the match and JR catching that. Triple H threatening Shawn Michaels' future if he does not call the match "as it should be called." Fuck, this is brilliant. Triple H alluding to it being called in his favor, but totally acting like a bad-ass that wants it down the middle all at the same time. The build for this is genuinely brilliant.

* Triple H sending Vince, Shane and Stephanie to the back because this is between him and The Rock and that he wants to beat The Rock in front of the "people." This dude is so sleazy, it's great. I used to think that Owen Hart or Brian Pillman could be in this position if they were still alive and active in this point in time -- and while I think they could be a different story of heel -- this is definitely Triple H as Triple H.

* Relating this to the modern day, I can't help but think this is the sort of heel that a Seth Rollins or Kevin Owens should have been as champion. Sending Triple H to the back and wanting to prove that they want to get this done on their own -- even if it's bullshit. Everyone is subservient these days. Triple H was allowed to have brass balls -- even if they were detachable. Vince McMahon showing great ass on PPV by letting himself get sent away. I couldn't see Daddy H doing that.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-22-2017 06:56 AM

You're watching WWF at it's height, it really never got better than the Chris Creski days of 2000.

Mr. Nerfect 02-22-2017 07:05 AM

The Iron Man Match is really well put together. Triple H showing signs of doubt at the beginning was brilliant. It did lull in parts with Rock on offence and when they kept going back to the sleeper hold, but the psychology of the falls was well planned out. When they get everybody out for the last 3:00? Wow, they jammed that daddy full. The ending is a bit "stupid." Taker showing up randomly and Chokeslamming people seemed like a cool moment when I first saw it, but I would have been expecting an Undertaker heel turn coming out of that given how he basically handed Triple H the title.

Out of curiosity did Goldberg lose a tag match when he was undefeated?

Ultra Mantis 02-22-2017 08:36 AM

Goldberg almost exclusively wrestled in singles matches during the streak according to profightdb, only exceptions were one tag match where he and Nash beat Hogan / Big Show and he was also involved in a mini battle royale, which he also won.

I was always under the impression that he never did. Undefeated used to mean undefeated and singles guys were often singles guy and they wouldn't always throw them into filler tag matches to get through to the next PPV or whatever.

Kreski's extensive use of storyboards was mocked by many in the WWF during his tenure, but they enabled him to achieve a high degree of continuity in his storylines, which began to devolve into semi-coherence following his departure.

Kreski would use relationship maps too, hence people didn't just forgive their former enemies willy nilly the second they turned face.

In defense of the criticism, Kreski was one of the first "writers" of WWF television. Before that you had Russo and Ferrera, but before that it was Vince, Prichard and Cornette, and before that it was Vince and Patterson or whatever. Shows weren't as mapped out, they were generally "booked."

Given that they are in things now, it would nice if they had this sort of planning though. It would also be nice if it did still fall into the lap of one man's vision to smash against Vince's -- as opposed to a team of people all with different goals and ideals.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves in wrestling. It ALWAYS takes me out. I don't mind two former rivals teaming up for the sake of a match -- wins and losses matter and you don't always get to draw who you want as a partner when it comes to the matchmaker trying to put on a good show -- but at least fucking acknowledge the heat between you.

For some reason, a giant tag team match where Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio were two participants on the babyface side REALLY bothered me. It's not even the most egregious example, but I remember it bothering me because the feud between Cody and Rey stood out in my mind so much, since they don't really do feuds like that anymore.

It made me reflect on not only the WWE's lack of continuity, but their lack of heated rivalries. It was a double-whammy in taking me right out.

Lock Jaw 02-22-2017 01:57 PM

Agreed.

Yesterday I thought it was dumb that Apollo Crews and Dean Ambrose were going after each other in the beginning of the battle royal when they both should have wanted revenge on Dolph/Corbin respectively.

Not as bad as the other examples but still annoying.

When Seth Rollins first turned on the Shield I was hoping it would somehow turn out that he was actually a mole the Shield was planting in the Authority to take them down from within.

I wanted the three of them to always be best buds and they'd all turn face/heel together. Now they probably will be portrayed as best buds anyway but it's completely retconning Seth's 2+ year heel run.

Gets worse when considering he wasn't the last to do something like this or put a focus on continuity in the WWE. Similar problems ended up happening every time and in the case of WWE hiring actual continuity supervisors, none last more than a few months.

Vince pretty much gets revealed as the main source of the problem almost every time because of his constant rewrites and only caring about his plans.

I mean what can you do as fans. We gripe because we love wrestling, but Vince is making the product for himself. And it's HIS product after all and he's the only show in town.

Kurt Hawkins vs. Kill Steen at WrestleMania with Rocky Mayweather as Special Guest Referee please.

 at Kassius Ohno's gear from tonight's set of NXT's tapings.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C5T1C8TUMAANt-y.jpg

Also one of the post-Mania call-ups likely got revealed during this set of tapings.
SPOILER: show
One of the matches set is a Loser Leaves NXT between Ohno and The Drifter. Drifter ended up losing the match

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-22-2017 10:56 PM

Dare the WWE to come up with a better segment than this

Yep. Hence, why I don't really watch, with the exception of re-activating last month (since cancelling in August) my Network acct to (primarily) re-watch Attitude era stuff, catch the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber & WM and a few live Raw/SD segments (less than 4 in the last 10+ months) I've happened to stop on the channel to see.

Bad News Gertner 02-23-2017 03:08 AM

Been watching a bunch of Shotgun Saturday Night's from 1998. What a weird group of enhancement guys they booked: Christopher Daniels, Devon Storm, Tajiri, Joey Abs (Jason Ahrendt). Pretty interesting.

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-23-2017 03:11 AM

Makes sense time wise cause Daniels was going to be the Higher Power if he could have stood up a little bit higher in stance.

Bad News Gertner 02-23-2017 03:13 AM

Lol he just got best pretty soundly by Brian Christopher

From the Observer:

- Styles was apparently supposed to take the fall in the triple threat with Wyatt and Cena, but Cena pushed and got it changed to him taking the fall instead.

Sweet

Hardys TNA contract is up within 5 days and WWE are said to be very interested, but they haven't signed anywhere officially yet.

drave 02-23-2017 06:19 AM

Current Hardys or 2000's Hardys tho?

#BROKEN Hasney 02-23-2017 06:27 AM

WWE seems quite taken on the broken gimmick considering they tried to emulate the Final Deletion, so either way they'll probably get broken eventually.

Zandig is a stupid yard tard. Norton is a God amongst men. Norton could stuff Zandig into his glove compartment.

It helps makes Bray, it should have been the decision right off the bat.

And not only that, but Cenas going away after Mania for a while, so it's best to keep AJ strong too.

Still, glad Cena has that level of insight these days. Wish he had it when he was squashing the Nexus.

Is he just going by the name Tozawa now?

If so, then it would keep to the small trend the WWE has of dropping first names beginning with A.

Adrian, Alexander, Antonio and now potentially Akira.

Corey Graves meme quickly becoming the most overused meme in TPWW history.

While it didn't start with an "A", even Bayley had her first name of "It's" get dropped in recent weeks.

Somethign about Vince hating wrestlers with 2 names or if the first name doesn't sound as macho as the last name.

Big Vic 02-23-2017 04:49 PM

Why do we need a list to subjugate black wrestlers?

Big Vic 02-23-2017 04:50 PM

"Top 10 Jewish wrestlers"

Now that's what I call "Subjewgation"

GD 02-23-2017 05:33 PM
