Loved the third act where it started getting "too big"

Barbara I can understand not facing consequences because they kind of did explain that what the dreamstone took away in return was her compassion/humanity and theoretically with the wishes undone it would go back..... but Max Lord not really facing anything (and in fact seemingly still getting a chopper ride back to the mainland) is a bit out there I agree....

Damian Rey 2.0 12-30-2020 01:40 PM

I liked the concept more than the execution. I alsoloved Diana's monologue and the music, which, funny enough, was the opening track in BvS. There was just too much happening around the characters, imo. Nonetheless I still enjoyed the movie as a whole.

Like, cheetah infiltrated the white house and assaulted federal agents. She should've been arrested and maybe hinted that she didn't completely lose her powers.

Lock Jaw 12-30-2020 01:59 PM

Yeah, I do wish there was more of a "wrap up" with the villains... like you see Max Lord does get arrested in the end and taken away from his kid but with the hopeful promise of trying to be better for him.....

Then with Cheetah, I don't care about her getting away with not being arrested... but I do think a little tease at the end of "maybe her evil personality wasn't all the dreamstone" and maybe showing her starting to research into the god that gave her her powers in the comics....

GD 12-30-2020 04:30 PM

Going to watch WW84 in bits and pieces.

GD 12-30-2020 04:34 PM

Gal Gadot’s voice sounds deeper and it seems like she’s gone through some training of sorts.

GD 12-30-2020 05:11 PM

Pedro Pascal is really good.

Her sneaking away, and crushing a rock or something that insinuates she hasn't lost her powers. And yes. Lord should've been rushed by authorised after his son says he already loves him, screaming that he'll make it up to him.

He's been one of my favorites since I saw him in Narcos.

Wonder Woman 84 - 6/10

That cameo was wholesome.

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-31-2020 10:56 AM

Rocky 8/10
Rocky II 7.7/10
Rocky III 7.3/10
Rocky IV 7/10

It went from being an interesting character drama to a series of cheesy (though enjoyable) 80s montages and East vs West propaganda.

I still need to watch V and Rocky Balboa, and also the Creed films. I'll get to them at the weekend.

Lock Jaw 12-31-2020 11:07 AM

People hate on Rocky V but I like it.

II is prob my favourite

Seanny One Ball 12-31-2020 02:10 PM

Rocky V is still a good action film. I mean Rocky the franchise starts off with pure storyline brilliance and quickly evolves into a formula for action that got ripped off so much it created a whole "underdog" genre.
Then you end up with The Karate Kid which is essentially the magnum opus of montage movies. Same director too.
Rocky 3 is also magnificent.

Rocky is easily the best franchise of all time.
Truly brilliant.

Lock Jaw 12-31-2020 02:21 PM

I thought Rocky V was a "better ending" for his franchise than Rocky Balboa

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-31-2020 05:04 PM

Amadeus: The Director's Cut 8/10

A drama revolving around Salieri's rivalry with Mozart at the court of Vienna. F. Murray Abraham is great as Salieri (he won an Oscar for his performance), and the chap who plays Mozart comes off well at depicting the composer as a debauched child-like rogue. It's a bum-numbing 3 hours long, but it doesn't drag. You don't need to be a fan of classical music to enjoy the story; you may even come to appreciate Mozart's work.

Rocky balboa was a good fix for the bad parts of 5 but i think his character arc in the Creed movies was the best ending for Rocky we could hope for.. But what do I know? I totally enjoyed the final Rambo movie.

Seanny One Ball 12-31-2020 08:20 PM

That last Rambo film was a fucking stain on the franchise man.
They took it way too far and way too cheap.

Seanny One Ball 12-31-2020 08:20 PM

It was essentially Mexican Death Wish with Rambo slotted in.

Seanny One Ball 12-31-2020 08:23 PM

If Sly lives as long as his mum did then we could feasibly see a 98 year old Rocky on the go.

If there is another Creed i can see him going to Rocky's grave after getting his ass whooped or maybe Stallone takes Micks role in remake

Damian Rey 2.0 12-31-2020 10:24 PM

Rocky is a cancer survivor who finally made amends with his only son and got to meet his grandchild. All while helping a troubled young man create his own legacy whilst taking himself out of the shadow of the father he never knew.

At this point, the next step for Rocky is to finally join Adrian again.

OssMan 01-01-2021 12:39 AM

Yes God Yes

Kinda funny, typical netflix liberals love it/conservatives hate it kinda movie

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-01-2021 08:52 AM

Rocky V 7.2/10

80s cheddar is replaced with early 90s cheddar, with still the obligatory montage section. I think I preferred it to Rocky IV, with a slight return to the character-driven story, but the whole riches to rags setting was so contrived that it kind of undermines the film as a whole.

Seanny One Ball 01-01-2021 11:12 AM

Pauly signs over Rocky's fortune to a crooked financial advisor.
They should have had the robot break the news.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-01-2021 11:18 AM

What kind of schmo, in the first place, would give Pauly power over their finances? Madness.

Lock Jaw 01-01-2021 11:25 AM

He ain't a smart man

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-01-2021 11:35 AM

Rocky is not that daft, nor is Adrian.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-01-2021 04:10 PM

Rocky Balboa 7.5/10

It pretty much returns to the original formula of the first two films, with some added nostalgia to rope in the audience. Rocky's opponent in the ring was a throw-away character, but as Rocky was ultimately fighting against himself, it does not really matter. With it not being weighed down by 80s or early 90s cheese, it is the strongest entry since Rocky and Rocky II.

Now on to Creed.

GD 01-01-2021 04:13 PM

Love both Creed films.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-02-2021 09:03 AM

Creed 8/10

I'd say it is up there with the original Rocky film, even though it follows the same formula.

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-02-2021 01:30 PM

I'd also like to say that Tessa Thompson is fine as fuck.

GD 01-02-2021 05:57 PM

The Host (Bong Joon-ho film) - 8/10

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-03-2021 09:24 AM

Creed II 7.8/10

It maintains the high standard of the first Creed film; if it has one weakness, I'd say the fight scenes aren't as visceral as in the first one, but that is a minor gripe. I wonder where they will take the third film, especially now that Rocky pretty much passed the baton on at the end of this one, and I think Sly has openly said that he won't play Rocky again.

I might have to watch all the Rambo films now; I've only ever seen First Blood Pt.1 in its entirety. We'll see.

Destor 01-03-2021 02:51 PM

first blood (like rocky) is a grea film

Lock Jaw 01-03-2021 02:57 PM

Never seen any Rambo movie..... Just think of Frank Reynolds yelling "they drew First Blood"

Seanny One Ball 01-03-2021 04:41 PM

First Blood is actually a great character piece much like Rocky. Then it's like Sly cracked some production formula and invented a whole style of franchise building that totally overtook any need for sophisticated story development and world building.
