Watching a Jason Sudeikis / Ed Harris movie called "Kodachrome."

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-23-2020 08:32 AM

The Prestige 8/10

El Vaquero de Infierno 12-24-2020 04:17 PM

Gremlins 6.8/10

I'd seen parts of it in the past, but never the full film. It was not as good as I expected it to be, though I don't know why I had high expectations for the film in the first place.

GD 12-25-2020 06:49 AM

Kodachrome - 7/10

Destor 12-25-2020 12:38 PM

Wonderwoman 1984 - 6/10

SPOILER: show
the opening sequence was so stupid i took a full point off.

the hiest scene was so fucking stupid i took a full point off for that

the action sequences in jingle all the way are more grounded than this film.

this might be the worst sequel of all time. just because a film is set in the 80s you dont have to make it feel like its a shit tier 80s super hero film. script, pacing, action pieces, score. all of it is a shout out to the kinds of movies we all gladly left behind. and its deliberate but that doesnt make it good. the very concept of this film is a bad idea fully realised as the bad idea they intended it to be.

The Midnight Sky - 4/5

Since the theatres are closed, this was the family Christmas movie.

Not bad, George Clooney.

Frank Drebin 12-25-2020 04:55 PM

Brave Maeve 1984:

2/4

It never decides if it wants to be a super hero, fantasy or hallmark movie. That's a really bad combination.

I might have more to say later but its your typical lackluster DC movie. Sometimes its almost as if Eric Cartman was deciding what powers everyone gets to have and whom is vulnerable to what at what time. Even the stinger at the end is flat and pointless.

Destor 12-25-2020 05:05 PM

there was one sequence i liked:

SPOILER: show
the chase scene in the desert was good. tension was high. visuals were cool. movie was a loooooooong 2.5 hours though.

Frank Drebin 12-25-2020 05:39 PM

Lock Jaw is going to try to jerk off for the entire thing and essplode at the end.

Lock Jaw 12-25-2020 05:47 PM

Checking the theaters but seats keep going and filling up..... tomorrow there are still a bunch that don't have any seats sold yet... but not confident in it staying that way... would have thought today would be a slow day.....

Blonde Moment 12-25-2020 06:40 PM

Fatman 4/5
You can't kill David Arquette 3/5

Lock Jaw 12-25-2020 11:04 PM

Soul - 7/10

Was ok.

Lots of people prefer to jerk off to Gal Godot on the big screen even if it means they have to do it in public. It is known.

Wonder Woman 1984-7/10

It's not as good as the first and it's complete shift in tone in comparison. Though that wasn't a bad thing for me. It's funny, and cheesy, and corny. I liked the set pieces. The mall scene felt very Reeves Superman to me. And the film itself is centered around Diana still believing in humanity and people being inherently good. I have no idea if they'll do a sequel or even need one.

A side note, Cheetah looked A LOT better in the finished product than the trailers.

slik 12-26-2020 04:29 AM

WW84 - 7/10

I did not like the first hour of the film, it's so tonally different/cheesy than the first film. I did like the rest of the movie however. The score was good, again. Pedro Pascal was a bit over the top for me. I thought Kristen Wiig's Cheetah was more interesting than Maxwell Lord.

Post-credits scene was a nice nod.

Wonder Woman 1984 - 7.5/10

Not nearly as good as the first one.... took a long time to get going but once it finally did I enjoyed it well enough.... Wish Diana was more of a "warrior" in it and less of a "I lost my first love 70 years ago and haven't moved on" mopey braud...

Overall not Earth-shattering, def on the lower end of the DC movies but high enough to not be considered "trash" like those below it.

Top Secret! - 7/10

If/when we get a 3rd one, I think we'll see warrior Diana that's more in tune with what we saw in BVS and what we're prob gonna see in the Snyder cut Justice League. Which is fine. We saw her character grow and learn a lesson in this movie and it ties up her story with Steve nicely.

Seanny One Ball 12-27-2020 05:00 PM

Which one is Steve Nicely?

Lock Jaw 12-27-2020 05:35 PM

I liked Diana's story in the theatrical version of Justice League.... hope Snyder cut goes deeper into it and doesn't take it in another direction....

Agreed

Lock Jaw 12-27-2020 06:57 PM

Just saying though.... that it really hurts for a so called "female empowerment" heroine type to have a story where she mopes around for 70+ years over a guy she met and knew for like a couple weeks.

Damian Rey 2.0 12-27-2020 08:26 PM

Meh. I don't bother to worry about that. I just want to be entertained and for the movie to be good and fun. It fell short of the original but WW84 was fun. Watching it with my daughter right now. She's captivated.

Lock Jaw 12-27-2020 11:48 PM

Palm Springs - 8/10

Dunno. I like stories where people are stuck in a time loop.

The Invitation (2015) - 6.5/10

Black Widow 12-28-2020 10:58 AM

Seriously?

The Invitation is one of the best psychological horror/thriller films ever made.
Logan Marshall Green is probably the best indie actor you can get right now, he has become the face of cheap but brilliant.

GD 12-28-2020 03:04 PM

He was terrific. I quite enjoyed the movie but my friend overhyped it a tad bit.

Destor 12-28-2020 07:50 PM

X-Men: Dark Phoenix - 7/10

if you ignore the source material and the continuity of itself in relation to the franchise (par for the course for fox x-men films) its not bad. its major plot beats are good. action as good as any from the series. cast shines throughout. tons of short comings but with the low bar i went in with i came out from it feeling like it was a good swan song for the fox x-men brand. solid. not great but solid.

RP 12-28-2020 11:54 PM

That George Clooney Movie on Netflix- 7/10

It was pretty obvious what the big reveal was at the end.

Is this the one where he gets invited to a dinner party at his ex girlfriends?

Ya that movie is really good.

Seanny One Ball 12-29-2020 07:47 AM

That's the one.
Logan Marshall Green has done well for himself.

GD 12-29-2020 02:41 PM

Attempting to watch "Primal Fear" tonight as I fall asleep.

GD 12-29-2020 04:02 PM

Ed Norton is great.

Seanny One Ball 12-29-2020 04:08 PM

Ed Norton is an all time great in my eyes. A real actor born and bred.

GD 12-29-2020 05:19 PM

Primal Fear - 8/10

Ed Norton was fucking great.

Lock Jaw 12-30-2020 11:51 AM

The more I think of WW84 after seeing it, the more I like it.... except for the Steve Trevor storyline which keeps getting worse... Like she goes out of the way to save innocent bystanders/people through the whole movie but shows zero regard/care for the dude who's life Steve stole......

Blonde Moment 12-30-2020 01:02 PM

Enter the Fat Dragon 3.5/4
Would have given it 4 but it is subtitled and the parts where his woman ragged on him scrolled by way to fast :) But otherwise a entertaining little action/comedy

It's because she is admittedly being selfish as that's all she ever wanted.

I did a rewatch with my daughter. The 3rd act really implodes the rest of the movie. It got too big for itself. There was a lot going on that gets glossed over and neither villain faced any consequences for their actions. I hope Jenkins tightens things up in the next one.
