I haven't gotten around to seeing Year One, but I loved Under the Red Hood. And S/B Apocalypse, while not as good, has some of the best super-fights out there.

Though if you want a good action-heavy Superman animated flick, I'd also highly recommend Superman vs. The Elite.

- Love Lil Barry's internet monkey nod.
- Lil Bruce with the nod to The Man Who Has Everything JLU eps.

Krimzon7 02-28-2013 10:39 AM

It's neat how each kid's gift is a thoughtful precursor to what their alter egos do in real life. Bruce is a rich boy, Barry a scientist, Hal is a pilot and Clark is a writer. Just so thoughtful

Blitz 02-28-2013 02:30 PM

I adore that last panel.

Kalyx triaD 03-04-2013 09:05 AM

These are rumors, but it comes from a source that can't be fucked with - so brace yourselves.

- Christian Bale is definitely in talks to return as Batman.
- For the Justice League movie.
- The Dark Knight and Man of Steel universes will be reconciled and merged to form the bases for a DC Cinematic Universe.

You still with me?

- Christopher Nolan will assume a godfather chair like Joss at Marvel and Miller at Fox, overseeing DC movies from here on out. This is something WB/DC was gunning for a long time if past rumors are taken into account.
- Zack Snyder may produce Justice League, and possibly direct it - given the positive buzz from early Man of Steel screenings.

DaveBrawl 03-04-2013 09:30 AM

That just made my day.

Kalyx triaD 03-04-2013 09:36 AM

If they can lock this shit down in two years; we could have a summer of Justice League and Avengers 2 in 2015 - then I have Bane's permission to die.

DaveBrawl 03-04-2013 11:34 AM

Avengers 2 should be great, but I'm far more excited for Man of Steel and JL than I was for any of the Marvel movies. Especially if Bale, Cavill, and hopefully Stephen Amell, will be doing it.

Kalyx triaD 03-04-2013 11:55 AM

I would for Stephen to portray a big screen version of Ollie, even if it's detached from the CW show. Then again, the tone of the show (already credited to Nolan's bat-movies) would make for an easy reconciliation imo. Not to mention it would save time casting Oliver if he were to make the roster.

On that, give Adrianne Palicki another go as Diana, since she fits the bill and the abysmal WW pilot was not her fault in any way.

What is this source? I saw this "news", but the source was the "Latino Review".

Kalyx triaD 03-04-2013 01:16 PM

Those guys accurately called the makings of superhero media pretty much since it got big years ago. I posted stuff from them since the inception of the DC and Marvel threads. Incredibly legit source.

If you wanna break it down to who their sources are; well then I can't help you there. But I trust them if that means anything for you. And I don't post every piece of rumor I come across unless I certain the sites or personalities have a good track record. That goes for movies and games.

Like you were saying since the tone is so similar to the Nolan movies I believe it could also be a good way to introduce some of the other JL members that haven't had a chance to be introduced yet or at least lays out the template to be used. I'd hate to interupt the flow of the show with guest spots of Flash, Aquaman, WW or Manhunter but since they have 2 years perhaps they can greenlight a few miniseries during Arrow's breaks in showings to introduce the other characters just to give us a taste of what we will be looking at.

Honestly one or maybe two of them (Aquaman or Manhunter) could be introduced in the movie itself without bogging it down but 5 may be a bit much, but I do have faith in Nolan getting it right no matter which way he goes.

I really do love Arrow though. So much better than I thought it would be.

Kalyx triaD 03-04-2013 02:51 PM

Keep in mind Nolan may not have writing or directorial duties here, he may be something of a quality insurance. WB's bigger problem is finding the hook to these characters. They try to find some 'tone' and build all their movies like that, whereas Marvel Studios build their movies on genre templates; the WW2 movie, the medieval movie, the werewolf movie, etc.

WB doesn't know how to find the hook to make each hero work, so they say 'make it like (most successful work here)'. Then again, having a general tone may make things easier for them - but I think it kills the potential of each character's own movie imo.

My armchair producer approach:

Batman: Gritty, moody. Nolan had this right.
Superman: Wonder, sci-fi. Something Speilbergian, though no offense to what Snyder is doing.
Wonder Woman: Xena with a bigger budget essentially, at least the first half. Then merge that with the 'Man's World' second half.
Green Arrow: Social, streetwise. Similar to the show, but add more of Oliver's class warfare undertones (which the show does allude to).
Green Lantern: Essentially Star Wars. The cartoon knows this, the movie had no clue.

Lock Jaw 03-04-2013 02:58 PM

Haven't watched Arrow in several weeks now.

Damian Rey 03-04-2013 03:11 PM

Really don't want to see Bale don the suit again. TDKR ended so perfectly, imo, that bringing Bale back would just ruin it. Even if he's playing a "different" Bruce Wayne, it still cheapens the end of the last one. Give the role to some unknown 20 something whoo csn make it his own and create a new Batman for this new universe. No retreads.

I'm not too worried about the big names. They seem to have a handle on how to handle them. GL I can see them sort of doing like Marvel did with Hulk, just acknowledge the movie but they probably have no more plans for him getting another. Maybe it's just nostalgia talking, but I think the old Flash tv show would kind of work if they did some minor updating.

Kalyx triaD 03-04-2013 04:37 PM

@Rey

It's still a DC comic universe, and Bruce Wayne can never not be Batman. The city needed him before and he did right by them, but perhaps the world needs him now. He'd suit up for that.

McLegend 03-04-2013 06:08 PM

Yeah I don't buy any of these rumors. I don't see it happening.

Blitz 03-04-2013 06:50 PM

Seems like everyone online is flipping out over rumours. Latino Review is legit, but talks don't mean anything until deals are done. I can buy Nolan overseeing the movie DCU. Bale coming back is a bit harder to swallow.

I dunno. My gut says Batman should be completely rebooted. Leave the Dark Knight trilogy as it's own thing.

Kalyx triaD 03-04-2013 07:16 PM

Imagine how dead this (and the Marvel thread) would be if we only reported things when the ink dried. I wouldn't know what to do with all the extra time.

Blitz 03-04-2013 08:08 PM

I'm not referring to you, I'm referring to idiots on Facebook, Twitter, and the internet in general posting "OMG BALE IS GUNNA BE BATMAN AGAIN!1111!"

parkmania 03-04-2013 09:28 PM

Leave Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan (even though I said since day one that he'd have made a better Guy Gardner), but make the GL in the JL movie be John Stewart. That'd solve the "We need a black person in the movie" dilemma. Have a throwaway line or two about the Corps, and problem solved. At that point you could even switch back and forth in future team-ups depending on which actor's available/desireable.

Kalyx triaD 03-04-2013 09:38 PM

I pretty much refuse to believe Green Lantern's movie would exist in what we see in The Dark Knight and what Man of Steel's looking like. Reboot GL.

Lock Jaw 03-05-2013 01:22 AM

New ongoing Superman comic apparently called "Superman Unchained". Pretty "bad" name.

Should have just brought back the "Superman: Man of Steel" name. Especially since they are doing this to play off of the movie, which happens to be entitled Man of Steel.

Written by Scott Snyder, though... so hopefully it will actually be good Superman. Though I still have a hard time seeing past his DCnU costume.

Nowhere Man 03-05-2013 09:13 PM

"Unchained?" Has Superman ever been successfully 'chained' before to make that adjective fit? I mean, yeah, Clark usually holds back on using the full scope of his powers, but that's because he wants to-- or rather, because he doesn't want to accidentally destroy everything and everyone around him-- and not because someone or something is holding him back against his will.

My guess is they're trying to go with the whole notion that "Oh yeah, now you're gonna see Superman really kick some ass!" At which point I would say that was never the point of the character in the first place.

I still like Scott Snyder and think he can do a good job on the book, but that title really puts a bad taste in my mouth, and doesn't exactly do much to make up for all the other questionable-at-best things they've done with Superman since the reboot.

Coming out of Seattle's Emerald City Comic Con, DC Entertainment has announced two new series premiering in June.

First introduced in Flashpoint and teased as an important figure in the "New 52," Pandora receives her own ongoing, monthly title in Trinity of Sin: Pandora. Penned by Eisner and Harvey Awards nominee Ray Fawkes (One Soul, Justice League Dark, Constantine) and illustrated by Daniel Sampere (Batgirl, Justice League Dark), Trinity of Sin: Pandora traces Pandora's personal quest to confront the guilt, pain, and anger associated with her mythic name. An action and horror comic, Trinity of Sin: Pandora will coincide in parallel story developments alongside J.M. DeMatteis' rechristened Trinity of Sin: The Phantom Stranger, originally titled The Phantom Stranger.

Also coming in June, from Vertigo, is Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso's return to the world they created in 100 Bullets with Brother Lono. An eight-part mini-series, Brother Lono centers on Lono along with an entirely new cast of characters. Brother Lono will also feature covers by artist Dave Johnson. Although 100 Bullets ended in 2009, Azzarello and Risso have recently worked together on Vertigo's Spaceman (see "'Spaceman' Hardcover").

Wanted to get back to this topic...

I agree that, in a comic book universe, Bruce Wayne will always be Batman. I think that the only character to don the cowl in any film or tv adaptation should be Bruce and only Bruce.

With that said, the entire DK trilogy was based around Bruce inspiring the city to the point where they no longer needed him to give his body, or his life, to push the city to save itself and not allow the corrupt to run it into the ground. This theme is present in each film.

By TDKR's end, Bruce finally found closure. Batman was finally Gotham's true hero, and, as Alfred said before Bruce suited up again, Bruce gave back to Gotham using more than his body.

To drag that particular take on Bruce Wayne back into a new universe that will be completely different and in no way related to TDK universe cheapens the ending is an excellent trilogy.

Even if it's a different Batman, bringing Bale back is only going to confuse general audiences who think he faked his death and retired. It would make absolutely no sense in any way to use Bale. They should recast, and create a new Batman take that has zero relation to Nolan's interpretation.

Scott Snyder's next big Batman story:

The story takes Bruce Wayne to the very beginning of his career in the New 52, DC Comics' year and a half old relaunched universe, and shows "how Batman became who he is," writer Scott Snyder tells the AP.

"It's not 'let's redo the origin,'" Snyder clarified. The story will focus on how Bruce Wayne figured out how to be Batman, and what challenges he faced when he first wore the cape and cowl.

"We tried to preserve as much of Batman's history as we could," said the writer. He promises this will be a story no one has told before, including how Bruce "built the cave" and "faced off with his first super villain." He also says it won't retread or "take apart" the seminal Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli story "Batman: Year One."

As to who that villain is for this 11-issue storyarc, the writer didn't spill in the initial announcement interview with the AP. However, he may have already let that slip. In a January 2013 interview with Newsarama, Snyder said, "I don't want to give it away, but I tried to hint before that, like, Riddler is a character that we're really going to be focusing on in 2013." Readers may also expect the Red Hood Gang to make an appearance in "The Year Zero," as was teased in 2012 in the pages of Batman.

So apparently (according to Wiki) this week is the last episode of Young Justice. I was looking at how last season had 26 episodes, and this would only be episode 20 this season, so I assumed we had 6 more to enjoy, but I guess not. Really sucks.

unless they have in the past which would really make me look like an asshole

Triple Naitch 03-16-2013 04:06 PM

If the new 90210 has been on for almost five years now, Arrow should easily get 15 seasons.

Damian Rey 03-16-2013 10:44 PM

Just got done catching up one the recent two episodes of Young Justice and fuck me they were fantastic. I cannot believe the show is on its way out the door, but, at the same time, keeping it going just because it's good now doesn't mean they should. The way the show's timeline was structured makes it tough to keep it going. It's been an awesome run regardless of its length and I'm happy with it going out while it's at its white hot peak rather than run out of steam and fade away.

Krimzon7 03-17-2013 01:29 AM

Young Justice was an awesome show with a very deep plot line. The creators wrote the show for a savy audience. This show would do retarded numbers during a more 'adult time slot'. Whatever, I've watched Endgame like four times now. I'm having a tough time saying goodbye. Glad to see some good guys take it on the chin. would like to have another season to tie up all of the other loose ends, but whatever. I've done my part, I've signed petitions and everything.

Dear Cartoon Network…

http://live.comicbookresources.com/w...il-600x240.jpg
Last Sunday, my daughter and I settled in to watch the final episodes of Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series while enjoying a leisurely breakfast. It’s become a bit of a tradition to catch up on the latest adventures of Razer & Aya (her favorite GL characters) and the newest twists and turns in Artemis and Aqualad’s dangerous subterfuge while munching on a bagel or some oatmeal. I’d been preparing her for quite a while for the unfortunate end of both of her favorite shows, so, after giving her the proverbial two-minute warning that after today, there will be no more new cartoons starring these characters, we fired up the DVR and clicked play.

We made it through Aya’s redemption and eventual demise rather well – better than I’d have expected, to be quite honest. She was a thrown a bit by Razer flying off into the stars in search of the love of his life, but she was able to accept that his story was one we’re unlikely to see since he’s a Red Lantern and the series is called Green Lantern. “Maybe we’ll get a Red Lantern and Aya series, daddy.” “Maybe, hon – you never know!” Now it was time for Young Justice.
A little background: My daughter adores this cartoon. She loves plenty of other shows – Sesame Street (still!!), My Little Pony, Teen Titans, Go! – but the junior Justice League, Artemis especially, have taken up permanent residence in her heart. She spent her own money on the super-fancy Artemis action figure – the only female character we could find in toy form – and she now stands watch over her bedroom. Most seven-year old girls want pretty princesses or Justing Bieber-themed birthday parties. My daughter insisted on a Young Justice cake, which required much Google image searching since the franchise seems to have never been licensed for party supplies. Simply put, she loves her superheroes, and the YJ kids are the best.
http://live.comicbookresources.com/w...ienna_cake.jpg
So, we sit back and enjoy the last stand of the heroes of Earth as they unite against the Reach, aided by the treacherous villains of the Light. My daughter responds to Artemis and Wally West’s romantic kiss in Paris with the requisite “BLECH!!!” She asks why Lex Luthor is helping Young Justice when he’s a bad guy. She forgets she has a mouthful of waffle for a full two minutes during Wally’s heroic death sequence, nearly tearing up when Artemis is told of his sacrifice.
And then we come to the final scene, the big reveal that Vandal Savage has steered War World straight to the fiery pits of Apokalips to strike up an alliance with Darkseid. That’s when the wheels came off the bus.
“You’re wrong, daddy. This isn’t the last Young Justice.”
“I’m afraid it is, Sienny.”
“But that’s DARKSEID! They have to fight Darkseid! I saw him in my books. He’s a bad guy! And it said on the TV that it was a new episode!”
After explaining that the “All-New” bug in the corner of the screen was for the episode we just watched, a conversation that took several minutes because she was convinced – CONVINCED – that I was 110% wrong about the future of her “faaaaavrit” show, she eventually came around to the sad reality that Cartoon Network had taken it off the air.
“Can I write them a letter and ask them please, please, pleeeeease to make more?”
“Of course you can, hon. And yes, we can mail it to them.”
“Can you put it in the computer for them to see, too?”
Absolutely. So, here it is, Cartoon Network. A letter from my daughter, the biggest Young Justice fan I know.

He should just tell her DC are dicks.

Sadly, it's the way of the world. Everything Greg Weisman does will be awesome, then unceremoniously canceled to replace it with a vastly inferior product thanks to meddling and incompetence from the higher-ups.

I have a newfound hate for the decision to nix YJ now.

Krimzon7 03-25-2013 07:05 PM

Hey, is there any word as to when we can grab Superman Unbound's torrent?

Kalyx triaD 03-25-2013 07:07 PM

Is that out yet?

Anyway:

Arrow is good stuff.

1 minor issue... I think they need to ditch opening VoiceOver, and either get a song or just have nothing for the opening.

Really enjoy the show though.

Kalyx triaD 03-27-2013 09:22 PM

Yeah it's pretty cool.

Lock Jaw 03-27-2013 10:45 PM

Haven't watched it since the episode after it came back from mid-season break

I should catch up, but I'm not motivated enough to do so right now

When you do get motivated, you'll be quite happy.

Skippord 03-28-2013 04:01 AM

Slade Wilson should probably get his own show

The Destroyer 03-28-2013 02:25 PM

Agreed. He is pretty awesome.

Just wonder if he'll end up becoming Deathstroke properly at some point further down the line.

McLegend 03-28-2013 07:03 PM

I like the fact that he kills people. That makes him different from most of other heroes in Media.

Slade Wilson is the man.

Welp damn...Bruce already knew but I guess she didn't want her friends to treat her any different.

Krimzon7 03-29-2013 08:09 PM
