Warner Bros Studios announces a new Batman game is being developed by Monolith and unlike previous Batman games, this one is a first person shooter and an online-only game.
The game called Gotham City Impostors will be taking place within the DC Universe and is set as a team-based game of Jokers vs Batmen. Quote:
The game does not have an announced release date but will be available on PSN, XBLA, and PC later in the year. http://i.screwattack.com/content/ima...1305572725.jpg http://screwattack.com/blogs/ScrewAt...City-Impostors -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Square-Enix releases Chrono Trigger today for the Virtual Console on the Wii. The game originally released on the SNES is now available for 800 Wii Points ($8). This also makes it the 4th time the game has been released on a console (SNES, PS1, DS, and now Wii VC). |
Terrible idea for a 'Batman' game. The gameplay is proven, I just don't like the license dressing.

Lionhead Studios joins a growing list of studios that hates used games but unlike others, they tried to explain that used games are worse than piracy itself.
The studio blames how used game sales on the Xbox and Xbox 360 hurt them more than the problem of piracy on PC. The studio also gave up trying to protect their games on PC by saying pirates will always find to steal/crack a game and decided to switch their focus on the used game market instead. Quote:
http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/pics/li...8_expanded.jpg http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/8...m-than-piracy/ --------------------------------------------- Quick News round-up: 1) Sonic Generations will be going to the PC and 3DS to go along with the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions after Sega leaked those platforms in their financial report. 2) Square-Enix trademarks "SE Masterpieces" as a new product brand with rumors ranging it being used for collection sets to HD remakes of previous games. 3) Mass Effect 2 interactive "Genesis" comic from the PS3 is now available on the Xbox 360. The comic is on sale for 320 MS Points. 4) After apologizing for a lot of things, Sony will not apologize for waiting over a week to inform people their Credit Cards were potentially stolen. Sony also tried to deny they knew of the problem for 9 days and did nothing as saying other companies do the same thing with a few even waiting longer to do something. |
Wouldn't be surprised it these assholes found a way to "lock" a disc to a console or some shit. Like when you first play a game a "code" has been recognized and you can't play the game on any other console. I wouldn't put shit like that past them.
|
soon they are all going to have codes that lock it to your account, like a mmo
|
Or all video games becoming downloads, where you have to buy and download them to your Hard Drive like Games on Demand, and not being able to play them on any other console. And you couldn't resell them obviously.
|
Quote:
The way some studios hate used games would make a disc be a one-time sort of deal for a code regardless of the reason. |
A good way to stop the second hand market is to make a game that's good enough to keep. I still have Wind Waker, Double Dash and Melee upstairs because they are so good, I'm keeping them forever even though I've not played them in years. Same as I still have Hitman Blood Money, Fable II, Forza 3 and GTAIV despite being "done" with them for ages. They're so good, I'll keep them incase I want to play them sometime in the future.
I'm sure we all have games we like to hold on to incase we want to play them again. Do a good job and people wont be so quick to trade in. Churn out a game that's average at best, it'll get traded in pretty quickly. |

Only way FF 7 is ever getting released again is if Sony pays Square-Enix to make a remake/collection since Square has said multiple times it would be costly for them to do it and currently have no interest in just remaking the game.
They put FF 7 on PSN after Sony pleaded with them for a while and they were allowed to just put the old PS1 version up without having to do much work. The same is true with the past few Dragon Quest games since Nintendo had to fund part of the games just for them to come out on the Nintendo DS and for DQ X to even be made, |

SEGA hints a new F-Zero game might eventually be made but also had to confirm it wouldn't be coming in the near future after a recent interview showed the company is willing to make another game in the series.
Biggest issue right now according to the producer is creating a good enough idea or gameplay feature for both SEGA and Nintendo to approve of the project. Instead of traditionally having Nintendo come up with an idea and finding a studio to make the game, the F-Zero series has a special status of SEGA getting to determine when the game can be made and all they have to do is tell Nintendo to get the project approved. Quote:

I read Nintendo didn't want a new F-Zero because they felt the series had gone as far as it could with GX so they ended the series there.
|
I read that Sega can continue it if they have a decent enough concept.

According to a trusted source (same source that leaked out the new Batman being a downloadable title), the upcoming Alan Wake game will be a downloadable game for XBLA.
The game will be titled as Alan Wake: Night Spring and is set to be sort of an "expansion" type game while explaining the story to new people (similar to the Mass Effect 2 comic for PS3 users). Microsoft will not allow any screen shots to be released since they most likely want to officially debut the game at E3. http://www.xblafans.com/wp-content/u...-0-600x337.jpg http://www.xblafans.com/rumor-alan-w...tle-13758.html ------------------------------------------------------------- The effort Crytek putting for Cyrsis 2 multiplayer seems to have been a bust at this point with the game crashing out of the Top 20 for Xbox Live for both the 2011 year and recent month. News on the PC platform isn't any better with the peak being about 511 people the last few months. No news on the PS3 version but since it had lower sales than Xbox 360 and PSN recently being down will not be good for Crytek. |
An email sent by Activision to its studios working on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 shows that Activision was monitoring the situation involving potential leaks of the game and knew people were leaking info about the game.
In the email, Activision did not blame anyone or any studio for the leaks but also praised the hard work of the studios in preparing for the official release. Activision and Infinity Ward ended up acknowledging the leaks as the debut of Modern Warfare 3 but were worried of their official revealing being ruined as a result. Due to how much stuff was already done when the leak occurred, Activision still had enough new stuff to talk about in the official debut for the game. If anything, Activision is upset at Kotaku for leaking out too much game info and worried for a while the hype of the game could have suffered in the long run. Quote:
http://www.giantbomb.com/news/what-a...-3s-leak/3228/ ---------------------------------------------------------------- Quick News Round-Up: 1) Bioware leaks on Twitter that work on Dragon Age III is currently in process. The game might make an official announcement at E3 2011. 2) After seeing the success of Nintendo's AR stuff, Sony announces it will be adding their own AR tech in upcoming Sony products. Even though Sony says they've been working on the tech since the PS1, its another situation where Sony waits and "copies" after Nintendo does it first. 3) Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype "paid" demo delayed again as Capcom announces the demo will not be launching when eshop launches in June. The whole project itself is in danger of being cancelled due to constant delays and Capcom unwilling to back the project 100%. |
Quote:
I really think this is because Inafune left Capcom. Megaman is left out of MvC3, Megaman Universe is cancelled and it's only a matter of time before MML3 is cancelled as well. I think I remember reading a while ago that Megaman 10 was the last of that series of MM games. Pretty sure they're trying to put Megaman away. |
Well if Capcom wants to be gay about it perhaps they should sell it to Inafune's new company. They won't. But it's gay.
(And for that matter give DMC to Platinum Games since Itsuno lost his fucking mind) |
Can understand them not wanting to make anymore disc based games, but I'm pretty sure megaman 9 & 10 were both critical and financial successes. Seems stupid to not at least keep making DLC games, as the franchise still has a fairly large fanbase.
|
I can't find the story about MM10 being the last retro MM but I swear I read that somewhere. I can't remember where exactly. Maybe I'm wrong.
It all still seems suspiciously timed. I can shrug off Megaman not being in MvC3 just after Inafune left but now that everything Megaman related is being killed off, it's odd. |
I have a feeling one of the Mega Men will arrive in 'Hyper MvC3'. If MML3 isn't cancelled by next fall, and with much of Volnutt's assets already built in TvC - I imagine Volnutt would be chosen.
IF MML3 isn't cancelled. And IF there will be a Hyper Marvel vs Capcom 3. |
Could care less about MM being in MvC 3. I just want more megaman games.

Nintendo of America almost one time managed to post the Legend of Zelda timeline but when they told Nintendo of Japan of their plan, NOJ told them to stop the project and told them that their timeline was essentially correct.
Supposedly, the timeline has enough "space" to allow new games to enter the series timeline without needing a new story arch and as a way to keep the series active after 25 years using the same basis for the tale. Quote:

Sony posts its 2nd worst annual financial loss ever in the company's history with the 2011 financial report showing around $3.1 billion loss for the entire company while the Playstation division continues to show more losses. The worst part of the news was Sony had been expecting $927 million overall in profits for the year.
The PSN disaster alone cost $171 million and could rise until PSN is completely restored. The majority of this loss will count against the 2012 report and not this year's report. Third party companies have also said the PSN downtime has cost them a few million with Capcom saying it could impact future PSN titles for 2011. The only good news is the total loss could have been as high as $4.4 billion but they were able to get an extension on their deferred taxes for now ($1.3 billion as of now). Quote:
It is unlikely the massive loss will make Sony rethink of the pricing for the NGP due to them wanting at all costs to take over Nintendo and Apple's spots in the handheld/mobile markets. Sony also sort of guaranteed their 2012 report has almost no chance of being good either but did express it should be less of a sting than this year. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...011/05/170.jpg http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thre...=128979&page=1 http://kotaku.com/5804525/the-psn-at...a-ton-of-money ------------------------------------------------------------------ Quick News Round-up: 1) Sony appears ready to kill off the PSP once and for all after revealing the PSP Remasters series of PSP games being ported to the PS3 starting with Monster Hunter 3 from the PSP. 2) The Penguin is expected to play a big role in the game's story for Batman: Arkham City. 3) The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be getting a limited re-release as part of the 5 year anniversary of the game. The re-release will include stuff from the Collector's Edition of the game to go along with a discount coupon for the upcoming Elder Scrolls V game. |

Ubisoft reveals its new MMO game currently in development from their Ubisoft Shanghai studio called Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online.
The game will be free to play but also offer the ability for micro-transactions for those who want more from the game at a cost. Ubisoft did not reveal what or how much the DLC stuff will be. Gameplay-wise, the game will play just like any other Ghost Recon game with the usual 3rd person perspective, tactical shooter with the biggest changes being class-based multiplayer to go along with upgradable weapons and abilities. Ubisoft is planning to add more classes in the future but as of now the closed beta will only be 3 classes. Another Ubisoft goal is to provide constant content either by special organized events, game updates, and customized stuff based on the community's feedback. The current plan is for the closed beta to arrive this summer with the actual game coming late 2011 for the PC. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...ering_fire.jpg http://kotaku.com/5804532/tom-clancy...ly-this-summer ------------------------------------------------------------------ Sony misses another target date with the PSN restoration as PSN Store misses its initial relaunch date with the excuse being another "maintenance." * Reflashes the DVD drives : PLDS DG-16D4S, PBDS VAD6038 and PLDS DG-16D2S, to a new stock firmware : 0272, 04421C, 02510C. * Table and anti-piracy 2.5 scheme updated. * Support for the new XGD3 disk format for games, adds 1GB of usable disk space and extra anti-piracy features to new games (This may not be compatible with some older Xbox 360 SKUs, e.g. those with Lite-On drives circa 2009, which require a console replacement). [2] * Adds a new 1 hour Auto-Off setting in addition to the 6 hour Auto-Off setting previously available. * Adds PayPal support as a payment option for all Xbox Live users, except Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Hungary, India, Japan, Russia, Poland , South Africa, South Korea and Taiwan[3]. * Avatar Kinect. Allowing players to scan their face in real-time to match with their avatar. * Adds multi-language voice commands for Kinect. (French and German confirmed.) * Minor bugfix. |
EA has decided to charge for the web-based online parts of Dynasty and Road to Glory mode in the upcoming NCAA Football 12.
This is also seen as the start of a bigger plan by EA to include more micro-transactions in their sports games beyond their current DLC stuff. EA had been planning to start charging for game modes and extras for a while but waited to decide which game to use as their "test." The one time fee of $3 per mode will be strictly enforced in online leagues due to everyone needing it or else the league can't progress. Also being charged is the Super Sim mode for online leagues that will allow the league to sim games for players who can't play on certain weeks as a way to prevent the entire league schedule from being held up. EA's is blaming the rising costs of their sports games development along with "competition" as the reasons for the sudden charging of modes and also confirmed this idea was in the making for a long time. EA failed to mention how their current practice of charging for cheats and other stuff in their sports games has generated lots of money. The worst part of the news is EA took what the community had requested for additions and features and then decided to charge them as extras instead of using it to improve the game for everyone. This news along with Take-Two potentially dropping its MLB and NHL franchises adds more power to EA's stranglehold on the sports market. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...mp_jpgcopy.jpg http://kotaku.com/5805720/new-featur...ree-in-ncaa-12 |

As long as it's as deep as the other games, I have no problems with it.

If it's a FB game, I can't see it being all that deep. The idea of FB games is to be easily accecable, playable in short bursts, simple.
I can't see us having to adjust the education budget or look at the crime or pollution rates. |
Well then there's no point.
|
Facebook games are supposed to be simple to use and enjoyable in quick bursts as well as being sociable.
Simcity as we know it isn't exactly simple and enjoyable in quick bursts, is it? They'll strip the depth away so everyone can jump right in. If they have SimCity FB and a proper SimCity 5, I'd be fine with that but it sounds like it will just be a Facebook game and nothing more |
I like SimCity enough to play it as a Facebook game. Surely they kept most of it's elements, I think you could fit most of SimCity's mechanics on a browser...
|
It's not a question of fitting it on a browser. Can you really see the same audience that enjoys Bejewled and Farmville willing to put in the time to play SimCity decently?
If they don't strip it down, I can see that audience try it, find it too dull, slow or complex and ditching it. |
