If The Usos ever turn heel again, I want them to run over John Cena in a car, and then be all "We did it for Roman Reigns.... we did it.... for the people."

Here's the first episode of NJPW on AXS TV

Ranallo sounds like Scott Hudson.

James Steele 01-17-2015 02:47 PM

Do they not have Hulu in the UK?

From Wreddit, Champions 10 years ago

Quote:

WWE Champion - John Bradshaw Layfield
WWE World Heavyweight Champion - HHH
WWE Intercontinental Champion - Shelton Benjamin
WWE US Champion - John Cena
WWE Tag Team Champions - The Basham Brothers
WWE World Tag Team Champions - La Resistance
WWE Cruiserweight Champion - Funaki
WWE Womens Champion - Trish Stratus

NWA World Heavyweight Champion- Jeff Jarrett

Funny how James Storm is still a Tag Team Champion. Sorry...bout his damn luck

Fignuts 01-17-2015 08:59 PM

Oh god, remember hating the Basham Brothers.

VSG 01-17-2015 09:36 PM

Damn I didn't remember Trish was still champ in 2005

She beat Lita when Lita's knee broke at New Years Revolution.

Dark One 01-17-2015 10:26 PM

Watching Wrestlemania 17 on the NETWORK right now. It comes up a lot, but I forgot how true it was that basically EVERYONE was over. Match number two was APA + Taz vs. RTC, and the crowd was invested. That would be like Los Matadores + R-Truth vs. the Ascension and Titus O'Neil today.

Dark One 01-17-2015 10:26 PM

Also, sweet Golf Cart chase now.

Dark One 01-17-2015 11:43 PM

Linda McMahon got the biggest pop of the night so far by standing up.

2001 was a weird fucking time.

Dark One 01-18-2015 12:11 AM

There's JR's most famous call:

"There's Lita--jerking Edge off... ... the ladder!"

Dark One 01-18-2015 12:27 AM

"Repo Man! Last week he repoed his own car!"

God bless Bobby Heenan.

Dark One 01-18-2015 12:29 AM

Wait. Jim Cornette was in the Gimmick Battle Royal? How did I not remember this?

And an elimination no less!

Dark One 01-18-2015 01:12 AM

Posting this because even fifteen years later, it's still probably #1 hype video ever.

I agree. I have watched that more times than I've made HHH related posts and I still get the goosebumps every time.

Dark One 01-18-2015 02:03 AM

Probably the only other one that can compete:

There are rumors that Solomon Crowe will finally make his WWE NXT TV debut at next month's Takeover event. Crowe working dark matches has become a running joke among the NXT regulars at Full Sail University.

Now it seems that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is falling a bit out of love with the team. According to Daily Wrestling News, Vince told JBL to bury The Ascension on the announce desk when they messed up their campy promo a few weeks back. He has apparently been told to bury them a bit since. Many see this as a bad sign for the team’s future, but WWE is apparently not done with them yet.

It first came about when Sting’s job at WrestleMania 31 was the topic of discussion. Vince McMahon wants the Undertaker to wrestle Sting, but Triple H is in favor of himself wrestling Sting at WrestleMania. This was the first instance that the WWE fans heard of their disagreements.

Now, it’s starting to involve other members of the WWE creative staff. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Triple H and Vince McMahon are beginning to act like they are the only people who write the shows. “Word is that some of the WWE writers feel they are once again being left in the dark on certain parts of the booking. Triple H and Vince McMahon have been meeting a lot with just the two of them to discuss creative.”

This is becoming a trend lately, because the Observer also reports that McMahon wants to stop pushing the Ascension, but Triple H strongly disagrees. Simultaneously, Triple H is concerned about the long term, while McMahon is focused on the market and money at the current moment. WWE fans always complain about how the WWE doesn’t do long-term booking.

WWE has added Kevin Nash back to Monday's RAW Reunion special from Dallas. Nash was pulled from the event after WWE suspended his Legends deal following the domestic incident with his son in December. As noted, Nash's deal was reinstated this week when the charges were dropped.
Also X-Pac was recently announced to be among the Legends/Past Stars showing up.

They are being represented by the same lawyer as former WWE star Billy Jack Haynes, who also has a lawsuit out against WWE.

The complaints from Haynes and Lograsso/Singleton appear to be virtually identical except for short paragraphs about the complainants.

Singleton’s complaint mentions wrestling WWE Superstar Erick Rowan in developmental as Singleton claims, “After approximately 15 matches, during which he sustained multiple traumas, he suffered a serious head injury during a match with Eric Rowen [sic]. The WWE cleared him to continue wrestling after inadequate rest time and downplayed his injury.”

Singleton was apparently out of action for five months after a match against Rowan. He then worked one more match and was released from his developmental deal. Singleton has suffered from a number of severe neurological symptoms and later found out that he had bleeding in the left hemisphere of his brain.

Lograsso noted that he “suffers from serious neurological damage, including severe headaches, memory loss, depression and anxiety, as well as deafness.”

Right now the plan is for ROH to book only 2-3 wrestlers from New Japan Pro Wrestling for the Toronto ROH shows in May.

Originally, the plan was to bring in the 8 or more wrestlers like last year which was ROH booker Delirious (Hunter Johnston)'s intent but ROH COO Joe Koff is uneasy about spending that level of money in 2015 on New Japan talent. Last year the company barely broke even on the 2 shows. Johnston believes the partnership can be very lucrative in the long-term and has pitched airing the shows as pay-per-views to recoup the money of bringing in an elite crew like in 2014, but that would disrupt the plan to do the Best in the World June pay-per-view. Gilleland doesn't believe it's worth disrupting their PPV calendar which they are just now establishing and taking on more risk.

Other sheet news include rumors of the WWE considering doing another brand split with Bryan to be Smackdown's top star and Reigns/Cena as RAW's.

A lot of that had to do with JBL being from Texas.

I'm not into The Ascension, really. Feel sorry for those guys, but I feel Konnor worked best as being surprisingly over in the NXT vacuum, and Viktor worked best as a singles guy. At this point in time, I'd rather see The Usos develop a rivalry with Kidd & Cesaro in time for WrestleMania. Then, after Mania, call up Sami Zayn & Adrian Neville as a tag team to work against Kidd & Cesaro, and have The Usos face a heel New Day.

If you want to keep The Ascension main roster, maybe have them become hired goons for someone like Barrett. Have them worship him bad-assery, and stand in his corner looking menacing. Put them over in squash matches on Superstars and Main Event. Maybe they can put over The New Day just in time for their heel turn?

Ultra Mantis 01-19-2015 01:53 PM

The best thing about The Ascension was always their glowing hand entrance back with Kenneth Cameron or whatever his name was.

loved the Varsity Club.

I've always thought it would be something WWE should try to do in modern times.

Rammsteinmad 01-19-2015 02:24 PM

I'm just not digging the Ascension's "gimmick". Like, I didn't follow NXT religiously or anything, but weren't they originally the typical dark, gothic, gloomy kinda team, with lots of theatrics 'n'stuff?

Coz I'm really not liking them being the generic "big man/face paint/gimmicky spikey costume" types, who keep comparing themselves to the Road Warriors, Demolition etc.
