No KO or Richie Steamboat?

Cool King 01-12-2014 08:41 PM

Well, they were never really on the main roster.

Just the NXT one.

Jim Ross was released on 9/11 :shifty:

Lock Jaw 01-12-2014 10:55 PM

Also, apparently Richie Steamboat wasn't actually released.

Mark Burnett is expanding his empire to the El Rey Network.

The uber-producer behind Survivor and The Bible is teaming with Robert Rodriguez's new Latino-themed network to create a weekly hourlong series featuring a new lucha libre league. The Mexican wrestling series will debut in the second half of 2014.

Burnett's One Three Media will partner with Lucha Libre AAA -- Mexico's leading league -- and FactoryMade Ventures. Antonio Cue Sanchez-Navarro and LatinoAmerica's largest production group, Alex Garcia's AG Studios, are also on board for the new venture.

"Starting this business with a new television series on a cutting-edge network like El Rey is very exciting," Burnett said in a release announcing the news. "And it doesn't end there. Wrestling is a billion-dollar business in the U.S., and with partners like Robert Rodriguez, Lucha Libre AAA and the rest of our great team, our new lucha libre league will make that market even bigger."

Added Rodriguez: "El Rey Network is all about the unexpected which is why this is the perfect partnership. Our association with Lucha Libre AAA, FactoryMade and Mark Burnett's One Three Media speaks to our commitment to create content that resonates for a culturally diverse generation -- one that expects high impact and excitement from their entertainment programming."

As part of the new pact, the group will develop monthly and quarterly specials, as well as pay-per-view lucha libre events. Merchandise, licensing and product integration opportunities for the league are also being explored.

Cool. Hopefully it comes to something.

Trish Stratus v. Mickie James was the last truly great diva feud.

Happy Monday! Here's Cornette bitching about ROH.

Anybody Thrilla 01-13-2014 10:32 AM

Does Jim Cornette even like wrestling anymore?

Anybody Thrilla 01-13-2014 10:33 AM

What a negative prick. Like, always.

Bad News Gertner 01-13-2014 10:40 AM

I've seen the shoot. Id be pissed too after what he went through. ROH is run like a backyard fed.

Sexton-Hardcastle 01-13-2014 12:52 PM

He should have stopped after 5 seconds.... 'Wrestling is dead, It can't come back' I took him for a wanker at that point and hit stop...I'm sure I just made the best decision of my day.

All Jim Cornette likes is Smoke Mt Wrestling, and people that wax his balls.
He's a fantastic persona, and a terrible person.

That's almost as bad as the time the Undertaker locked him in the casket.

Xavier Woods going to be at a vintage-video game store at 11am tommorow. Wish I could go.

Fucking love Jim Cornette. And he's right 90% of the time.

TNA officials have been in talks with "The American Wolves" Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards for several weeks now, likely since the duo got word that WWE wouldn't be signing them.

It's expected they will be debuting for TNA soon as they have canceled some upcoming independent wrestling dates. It's possible they could appear on Thursday's live Impact Wrestling from Huntsville, Alabama.

he used to be. Now (and for the last however many years) he makes a living repeating the same shit over and over again because for some reason some people still find it entertaining. He's Iron Sheik levels of ridiculous now. Most of it is probably a work because he knows it sells, it's just all a bit boring. Which is a shame because if he could keep himself in check, he's a great mind for any company to have around.

#1-norm-fan 01-13-2014 08:05 PM

He's at least repeating stuff that is right though. I enjoy hearing from the inside how unorganized shit is/was and how bad guys like John Laurinaitis is at his job.

And to be fair, I've never heard this ROH stuff before. It's interesting.

#1-norm-fan 01-13-2014 08:09 PM

Wait... I thought Edwards and Richards were already signed.

Bad News Gertner 01-13-2014 10:53 PM

He's completely off on Kevin Dunn though. The shit that went on in ROH was ridiculous.

Seth82 01-13-2014 10:56 PM

boy I cannot wait for that induction speech

I wonder who will induct the warryuh? Hogan maybe?

Why is he off on him?

A lot of people hate Kevin Dunn apparently. Paul Bearer even hated him. Paul Bearer doesn't hate anybody!

Bad News Gertner 01-13-2014 11:17 PM

Hogan would be the logical choice, but Warrior hates Hogan.

The old timers who hate "sports entertainment" don't like him, but guys like Finlay say he's a genius.he's responsible for the amazing productions, camera work and video packages.

#1-norm-fan 01-13-2014 11:21 PM

I don't think any of the negative stuff I've heard Cornette say about Kevin Dunn has been regarding his work with all that stuff.

It's mostly that he's a dick, hates traditional wrestling to a Russo level and has fucked up teeth. lol

Bad News Gertner 01-13-2014 11:23 PM

It boils down to Cornette likes wrestling and Dunn likes sports entertainment.

#1-norm-fan 01-13-2014 11:29 PM

Sports entertainment or "rasslin'" aside, I'd imagine I'd be pretty pissed in Cornette's shoes in that situation, too.

#1-norm-fan 01-13-2014 11:30 PM

Also, he does look like a human rabbit.
