Ubisoft's record of accidentally leaking game information meant for a later date continues as the newest Assassin's Creed game was leaked today.
The game will be called Assassin's Creed: Revelations and at the moment it is not known if the game will be a spinoff like Brotherhood or continues the Assassin's Creed main story. Ubisoft made the mistake of uploading the game's Facebook page while in the process of making the page and then took it down once people started to actually comment on the page. http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/galleri...1304103967.jpg http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/8...ations-leaked/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A leak from 343 Studios confirms Halo 4 will be announced soon and as early as this year's E3. A developer working on the project said the game has been in development since July 2010 and original plans were to have it released before Reach with Reach delayed for another year. The rumored Halo Combat Evolved remake is still expected for later this year while Halo 4 would be set for a 2012 release. |
Just finished Reach yesterday. Hyped to get back to Chief and Cortana.

I'm still not sure how Brotherhood could he regarded as a spin-off. The game was vital tothe storyline.

The next Assassin's Creed could still be a spin-off though because Ubisoft previously was considering branching away from the main story as a potential option because they want the games to come out every year. |
Bethesda believes it has fixed the issues from the recent Fallout New Vegas patch (1.3) which froze game saves and made other parts of the game unplayable. The update was only for English versions of the game due to Bethesda still working on other language versions for their patch.
The new patch for the 1.3 update unfreezes game saves while keeping the stuff the previous patch fixed unchanged. Bethesda noticed the issue with the patch after a few users complained about the save bug and warned everyone to not update the patch. They also warned Microsoft to not make the previous update mandatory hours after it had occurred. This also isn't the first time Bethesda has had issues with faulty patches involving saves either on the Fallout or Oblivion series due to the engine itself being very buggy especially after changes are made. http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/pics/ne...9_expanded.jpg http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/8...w-vegas-fixed/ |

A recently created Microsoft studio responsible for Kinect-related games announces they are working on a "hardcore" shooter for the Kinect with Microsoft backing the game as a "AAA title."
Microsoft originally created the studio to focus more on "social microtransaction" games but Microsoft switched its focus after negative backlash from its fans and letting Rare focus more on the casual side of Kinect. The studio also hinted it will not work on just Kinect games but "Xbox 360, Xbox Live, Kinect, and future gaming platforms." As of now Gears 3 appears to be the only "hardcore" shooter for the system this Fall but Microsoft might announce more details of this new game at E3 this year. http://fastcache.gawkerassets.com/as...ars_kinect.jpg http://kotaku.com/#!5797784/kinect-g...crosoft-studio ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quick Round-up of some gaming news: 1) Ubisoft is creating their own film studio so that the company can make films and rely less on outside studios who don't know much about the game they are making as a film. 2) Silicon Knights determined to finish the Too Human triology as their top priority 3) Sony shuts down their SOE services after 12,700 credit card accounts were stolen 4) Square-Enix pushing for Draqon Quest X changes its schedule for the game from a potential late 2011 release to now an early 2012 release and before the next Nintendo is available. |

THQ posts a $136+ million loss for the 1st quarter of 2011 with all platforms except the Wii and the DS having big drops in sales.
THQ was pleased with Homefront and Smackdown vs Raw 2011 sales but decides instead of focusing more on their strong Wii sales, to move all their focus to the "struggling" Xbox 360/PS3 sales. As part of helping their "struggling" sales platforms, Udraw is coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 after seeing good success on the Wii. No news if THQ will continue support of Udraw for the Wii as part of their plan. THQ's own forecast for the 1st quarter also ended in a decline mainly due to 2010 being a strong year overall in the industry and 2011 starting out slower than expected. THQ also relied a bit too much on PS2 sales last year with this year being dropped by 50%. http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/pics/th...0_expanded.jpg http://www.vgchartz.com/article/8593...aw-to-x360ps3/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As part of a final push of the Wii by Nintendo and keeping with tradition, Nintendo announces later in May the start of the budget line of Wii games under the "Wii Select" label. Also revealed is Mario Kart Wii will replace Wii Sports as Wii Sports now being sold on its own. |

Ubisoft officially reveals details on the next Assassin's Creed game and confirms it will be called Assassin's Creed: Revelations.
The game will follow the gameplay style of Brotherhood with more focus on the mulitplayer than the previous game. The game also will be the final chapter from the Ezio side of the story with Altair and Desmond playing a role in the game. This time the setting is set in Constantinople during the time of the Ottoman Empire. Ubisoft also reveals the biggest change to the game revolves around "new weapon and tool that changes the way you'll fight and traverse the world." The multiplayer portion of the game was revealed to be very customizable and robust in comparison to Brotherhood while Ubisoft is also working on fixing the servers and connection problems Brotherhood had. A new game mode to go along with new maps and characters was also promised for multiplayer. The game is set for a November 2011 release date on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/3...tled_super.png http://www.giantbomb.com/news/assass...together/3136/ |

The next game in the Burnout series called Burnout Crash! had more of its details "leaked" by the ratings board of Australia. Previously, the same ratings board accidentally revealed the game before EA had a chance to officially announce the game.
From the revelations, the game appears to be taking a more "cartoony" approach to gameplay unlike previous games in the series. The game is done in a top-down perspective and includes new stuff for the challenge mode such as "tornadoes, spacecraft, and lobster monsters." Quote:

NeoGAF user SolidSnakex has posted a breakdown of this month's Game Informer coverage of the just-announced Assassin's Creed: Revelations. First off, let's get the protagonist problem out of the way: In Revelations, you'll play as both 12th century stabber Altair and his 16th century descendant Ezio, now over 50 years old. Ezio will be looking for "seals" which will allow him to access Altair's memories, similar to how Desmond used the Animus to access both Altair's and Ezio's memories. Speaking of Desmond, he's unsurprisingly back in the Animus "where he finds a safe mode called the 'Black Room.'" The gameplay in Desmond's mode is described as "narrative-fueled puzzle sequences," geometric shapes and all. The lion's share of the game will take place in Constantinople (or, as it's known today, Istanbul) separated into four districts: Constantin, Beyazid, Imperial, and Galata. If you want a change of scenery (fairy chimneys!) some of the game will also take place in Cappadocia. Inside the cities, you'll be able to establish Assassin's Dens, a sort of expanded Borgia Tower mechanic from Brotherhood. Complete various scenarios, take down the regional Templar presence, establish a Den, and then "upgrade the buildings in that region along with adding ziplines across the rooftops." Ubisoft wants to make your time spent in Constantinople (and Cappadocia!) more valuable, so they've not only done away with traditional side missions in favor of random events (ie: noticing a shop owner being robbed) but have also given Ezio (and Altair?) a new item called the "hookblade" which can be used with the aforementioned ziplines to speed up navigation "by about 30%." But it wouldn't be a video game if you couldn't use that hookblade to mess dudes up. Lucky for you it can be used to pull said dudes in for a mean combo. More interested in bombs, you say? So is Ezio! He can now make up to 300 bombs using a crafting system. Along with the new toys comes a new level cap and a more narrative-focused multiplayer mode with the ability to customize your character and create guilds. Lastly, Ubisoft Montreal is using a new facial capture technology called Mocam which Game Informer calls an "intriguing amalgamation of traditional animation, performance capture and the fascinating new style of performance on display in games like LA Noire." And yes, Ubi is doing all that with another one-year turnaround. With the success of Brotherhood, we're certainly giving it the benefit of the doubt. Of course, you can find more details (and pretty pictures!) in the June issue of Game Informer. ... Interested to see how the seals work. Guessing this game will show the death of Ezio |
Ubisoft do really want to keep stringing the series out I guess. As long as Revelations is good, I can live with it.
It would just be nice to get AC3 proper at some point this decade. |
Valve's boss Gabe Newell clarifies reports about Valve ending its focus on single player games in favor of multiplayer games.
The current goal of the studio is trying to add social features to their games to go along with the tradition of Valve's focus on single player experiences. The studio doe not want to just tack on multiplayer features just for the sake of having multiplayer at the cost of the single player experience. Quote:
http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/pics/va...2_expanded.jpg http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/8...cial-features/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) officially recognizes video games as art and is willing to fund the development of video games as long as the company itself is a non-profit organization. The move comes after the NEA renamed its program from "Arts on Television and Radio" into the more generic "Arts in Media" as a way to cater to more forms of art and entertainment. This move also could impact California's debate on the idea of video games as art vs censorship of "violent" games and any potential future Supreme Court case involving this situation. |
Love the sound of Valves vision. I know a lot of the guys there are fans of Demon Soul's, so I would not be surprised to see some crazy asymmetric multiplayer in a future game.

Luckily, they aren't applying this to the half-life series. I like that they are focusing on multiplayer experiences, but half-life needs to be mainly a single player experience.

Some interesting stuff and tidbits revealed from Activision's financial report for the 2010-2011 fiscal year.
Activision confirms Bungie will not be making an appearance at this year's E3. Bungie responded by saying they are busy working on a new project with some help from Activision and felt the hype for the game would be counter-productive at this stage in the game's development. Modern Warfare 3 will debut at E3 to go along with the official revelation in gaming magazines around the same time. The game will make use of the "Call of Duty Online" plan worked on by Beachhead studio. The idea is to integrate the game and community much better while also making it easier for Activision to send map packs and fixes. Last year Activision had plans to make this a pay-to-play service but their studios convinced them to make this a free feature for all users. Activision also claimed more people play Call of Duty Black Ops online than use Facebook on average every day with Black Ops getting about 58 minutes per day compared to 55 for Facebook. Their stat only counts since the first map pack was released on February 1st and not since the game was released in November of last year. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...offacebook.jpg http://kotaku.com/#!5800161/beachhea...l-of-duty-game http://www.giantbomb.com/news/bungie...presence/3152/ |
Damn, hoping Bungie would announce their game at E3.
Who exactly is making Modern Warfare 3 for Activision? |
Infinity Ward with the help of the new studios Activision recently bought (Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games) along with Activision themselves. Add in Beachhead studio and its about 4-5 studios working on the game.
The reason is due to lack of manpower at IW and letting those other studios get used to the CoD franchise. Also if rumors are true, they might also be working on the next Nintendo console version of the game (Treyarch probably would be helping with that one). Treyarch might also be working on the Wii's version of Modern Warfare 2 if Activision follows the same schedule like with MW 1 on the Wii. |
I don't understand why they would put MW2 on the Wii with Black Ops already out. It's the basic new hotness and old and busted principle.
|
Same reason why MW 1 went on the Wii when World at War was out mainly due to Infinity Ward not willing to make a Wii version while Activision wanted more money and knew Treyarch could work with the Wii structure.
The bigger surprise was how Treyarch was able to port a modified version of the MW engine when Infinity Ward said it was impossible and not worth the time. |
I wasn't aware World at War was on the Wii. You are forgiven.
|
Treyarch are stand-up guys. Can't help but feel they can do better things than buffer an annual shooter.
|
I think IW splitting up is the best thing that could happen for them.
|
Well they weren't fans of that team, and I don't think Treyarch digs how much marketing gets behind MW versus their CoDs.
I just want them to make another Spider-Man. |

The rumored upcoming Alan Wake game expected to arrive around late 2011 to TBA 2012 has been confirmed to not be a sequel nor a DLC chapter or episode.
The game is expected to be either a prequel or a possible "expansion" to the events from the first game but also as a way for people who didn't play Alan Wake to understand the story and characters without needing to play the first game. Quote:

Namco Bandi deciding to go a different route with pre-order bonuses by making the collector's edition of Dark Souls the bonus instead of a generic in-game item or character done by other companies. Dark Souls is considered the spiritual successor of Demon Souls which was available on PS3 last year.
As an extra bonus, the collector's edition will be priced the same as the regular game and not the extra $10-$20 done for most collector's editions as well. Besides the game itself, the edition comes with "an art book, behind the scenes videos, mini strategy guide, and a download of the game’s soundtrack all in a nice metal case." The game is still set for an October 2011 release date on the Xbox 360 and PS3. http://i.screwattack.com/content/ima...1305146875.jpg http://screwattack.com/blogs/ScrewAt...re-Order-Bonus ------------------------------------------------------------------ Square Enix celebrating Dragon Quest's 25th year anniversary with a collection disc for the Wii in anticipation for Dragon Quest X set to arrive late 2011 to early 2012. What happens when a large contingency of a series' creative team packs up, and two additional teams are brought on to round out the production? Apparently, you get a lot of loose lips. Details of Modern Warfare 3, in development across Infinity Ward, Raven Software, and newcomer Sledgehammer Games, have been leaked with an unusual amount of specificity to Kotaku less than a month before its presumed big reveal at E3. A lot of that specificity is wasted on spoilers which, in addition to being generally unwanted for those of us who haven't played the game, are about a Call of Duty title meaning they follow multiple characters through multiple elaborate setpieces. Oh, and there's shooting. MW3 begins right where MW2 left off: with the US trying to prevent a Russian invasion. Your roles include a "Russian Federal Protective Services agent, SAS Operative, tank gunner, and AC-130 gunner" as well as some old friends from previous MW games and some new characters, notably "Frost" and "Sandman." About those setpieces! Modern Warfare 3 will reportedly include 15 missions that take place across "a dozen cities around the world including New York, Paris and London." If some of that selection sounds familiar, that's because this fall's Battlefield 3 will find itself in "Paris, Tehran and New York." Awkward. But it's not just Manhattan, it's also Brooklyn, Mogadishu, and more, if the list of 20 multiplayer maps is to be believed. (It's unclear if these include maps from the inevitable DLC map packs.) Spec Ops is back as well, with the mission-based co-operative offerings from Modern Warfare 2 accompanied by a new "Survival" mode or, as you're more likely to know it by, Horde mode. The goal: You and your pals will defend yourselves from increasingly difficult waves of enemies. There are seven "Mission" maps and five "Survival" maps listed. Previous Modern Warfare installments were so shrouded in secrecy, nearly up until the time of release, that it's hard to imagine how such a massive, seemingly coordinated leak took place. Oh, and one last detail: the release date! Kotaku's report pins MW3 for November 8, just a week after Uncharted 3 and a few days before Skyrim. |

Sony's big announcement on Gametrailers early in the morning ended up being news of the sequel to Warhawk on the PS3 called Starhawk.
Similar to Warhawk, the game is an air combat style game but this time more variety of in terms of larger maps, more types of playable vehicles such as mechs, and more action. Unlike Warhawk, the game will be on disc and not as a PSN title as well as having a single player mode to go along with multiplayer. No release date was given but Sony did say it should be available at some point in 2012. http://fastcache.gawkerassets.com/as...rhawk_gttv.jpg http://kotaku.com/5801513/starhawk-i...rming-fighters |

Yeah the announcement ended up being a bit disappointing because of how much effort Sony did to make it seem like it would be something bigger (ex. countdown clock, lots of hype of it being a big name game, etc).

Square Enix announces as a result of a bad fiscal year for the company (loss of almost $198 million) it has cancelled a lot of unannounced games and projects as part of their new plan to "a tightened selection standard regarding title lineup to strengthen the revenue base of the Company’s digital entertainment segment."
None of the titles cancelled were major or Triple A titles but were seen more as potential money wasters than contributors for the company this upcoming year. Adding in the effect of the recent earthquake in Japan forcing some Final Fantasy servers to be shut down and the loss of monthly subscriptions also were a factor in the decision. http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/pics/sq...2_expanded.jpg http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/8...nounced-games/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sony announced another set of games will be getting the HD collection/remake treatment on the PS3 and this time it will be the God of War games from the PSP series.
